Spicy rice cakes came first, it tasted pretty good. Then, the 2 dishes were bit disappointing. Galbitang had bones that had lots of fat in it and only some meat on there. The crab meat noodle soup, the menu said it would come with imitation crab but did it come with it? Nope. Super disappointing, the soup had not depth and tastes like some gochujang sauce and maybe sesame oil then soy sauce. It tasted cold, the ground beef on there was straight up cold and the soup tasted warm as well. It had couple small clams and that's it- where was the crab? When the dish is literally called crab meat noodle soup, I'm sad that this new place is lacking in so many ways. First time trying this place after looking through the menu and seeing galbitang. We ordered the galbitang on February 18, 2024. We ordered it without glass noodles and an extra beef rib and extra half boiled egg as my fiancé and I are both doing the keto diet. We received the food and upon opening the container that had the beef slices, there was no green onion and NO EGG AT ALL.. The broth was separate from the bowl which was nice and appreciated, but once we poured some broth into the bowl with the massive radish chunks and beef slices I noticed a dead mosquito in the broth... really really made the food seem quite unappetizing at that point. The slices of beef seemed slightly old as they were tough and kind of chewy. Maybe reheated? The ribs had a great flavor but by then I was suspicious of all the food so I just picked at the rib which was good in flavor. Just really bummed to find a dead mosquito in the broth. I have been wanting to try this place for a few months now and today was the day. We started off with the beef fries. They were really good just needed some salt. While I love kalbi and bulgogi, we tried other Korean dishes that were new to us. One of the owners, Thomas was very welcoming, talked to us about the various dishes on the menu, and shared stories about his international travel and food adventures. We're definitely coming back here soon. 1. Galbitang is a beef rib soup which also includes beef slices, radish, glass noodle, and garnished with green onion. They also include an ajitama egg and all of the beef was so tender. The broth is so flavorful and takes a couple days to prepare. 2. My daughter's soy bibim noodle dish was perfect for her since she loves rice noodles. Their house-made salad dressing combined Korean and Japanese flavors. I forgot to take a picture of my wife's ground beef over rice dish. But it was delicious, especially topped with a fried egg. 3. For the past few months, I've been watching Melting Grill take place, as I frequent the Blue Oaks Town Center, located in Rocklin, CA, as it's within walking distance of my home, and I'm a good customer at a "big box" outdoor store located in the center. I confess that I'm a "newbie" when it comes to "Korean Fusion" cuisine, but since I'm a stone-cold "foodie," I'm enthusiastic about any and all cuisines. Melting Grill opened their door in March of this year, and it took me until early May to finally pay a visit to this restaurant, and enjoy their marvelous hospitality and amazing Korean cuisine. The dining room is large, very spacious, with combinations booths/tables lining the walls, and small tables placed in the center. The floor is "faux wood" and the walls sport an interesting waistcoating, which I haven't seen in quite some time. The decor is simple, as the only "wall furnishings" are a few television monitors, which seemed to be highlighting Korean cuisine, and the menu the restaurant offers. The dining room is very modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The order counter and the menu are located at the rear of the spacious dining room and are the centerpiece of the restaurant! Melting Grill operates on what I refer to as the "taqueria format," where you make your choice from the overhead posted menu, pay for it at the cash register, and receive a receipt with your name or a number. When your order is ready, it will be brought to your table by a friendly staff member. This "format," so to speak, is a fusion between fast food and sit down, and is very common in taquerias, and seems to be arriving to the "fast casual" genre of restaurants, such as Melting Grill. The menu is posted on two video monitors above the order counter. The first video monitor lists the food selection of the restaurant, which, at the time of this writing, is limited, as the restaurant has only been open for a couple months. From the "Entree" section of the menu, I went with "Galbitang," - a Korean beef rib soup - as my main course for lunch. The menu describes this hearty soup as, "Beef rib, slices of beef, Ajitama, radish, glass noodle, garnished with green onion." Alright... I'll take the description. Today was the first time in my life that I'd enjoyed a bowl of "Galbitang," and this hearty Korean beef soup didn't disappoint me, as it was simply amazing, and nothing like I've ever enjoyed before. The showcase of this amazing bowl of soup was the beef rib, which was a "standout" and something that you couldn't miss, as it was the centerpiece of this delicious bowl of savory Korean soup. How about a semi-hard boiled egg alongside the beef rib for added flavor and attraction? I asked my hostess about "aitama" and found out it's a marinated and seasoned, hard-boiled egg, which turned out to be a delicious surprise, and a "first" for me. I loved the radishes and glass noodles. The soup was presented in a savory beef broth, that had depth, flavor, and everything else that goes into a great broth. Enjoying a bowl of "Galbitang" was a totally new experience for me, and totally enjoyable! The flavorful broth made for a great foundation of this hearty soup, and the beef rib, along with the radish, noodles, green onion, along with the Ajitama egg, didn't disappoint, as it all worked together to make for an amazing soup. From the "Appetizer" section of the menu, I went with an order of "Yangnyum Chicken," which comes in an order of four pieces. The menu describes this delicious selection as, "Deep fried chicken wings with Korean sweet chili sauce and shredded green onions." Korean chili sauce is reputed to be on the spicy side, but these wings were mild and flavorful. The four wings were deep fried to perfection, and coated with Korean sweet chili sauce and finely diced green onion. When I bit into my first wing, I was rewarded with the amazing "crunch" that deep fried batter offers... which for a moment gives you not a care in the world, as the taste sensation is sublime, and will put you into a "foodie" trance. After the "crunch," I tasted the Korean sweet chili sauce, which offered lots of ginger, and a sweet, with a slightly sour taste. By the way... I can't over emphasise "the crunch" of the deep fried batter, as it is a true taste sensation in every way. Oh yes... the chicken was moist, tender, and simply melted in my mouth. Oh my Dorothy, you're not in Kansas anymore! "Yangnyum Chicken" takes chicken wings to a higher level among lovers of Asian cuisine, as the chicken wings were juicy, tender and delicious. Coat the batter with the delicious batter, deep fry for a bit, coat with Korean chili sauce and combine it all together... Melting Grill has taken Rocklin by storm with these delicious chicken wings! My first time coming to MG, looking at all the great reviews, I had high expectations and the food didn't disappoint. I ordered Galbitang, beef was tender, I like they added a soft boiled egg and the radish, the broth is definitely the star! My husband had the kimchi fried rice, I didn't take pic as to us it was average and the portion was on the small side. We also ordered the yangnyum chicken wings. It was crispy coated with sweet chili sauce, yummy! Very happy to have found a Korean fusion restaurant in our neighborhood, will come back again very soon! read more

Great restaurant. It's still very new so they are working out some of the kinks. I'm going to round them up as it's nice to have Korean on the 65 corridor. Though the food is legit 4 to 5 stars. The Good: I thought the wings were amazing. Korea does fried chicken very good, better than we do in America and the wings here were very tasty. I will say the two flavors were fairly similar and they'd do better to get a bit more differentiation. Also, there is no hot wing sauce. We had the the omelet kimchee rice and it was was fairly tasty. I kind of expected more Japanese stye Omurice where the omelet is a bit soft inside and they split it and it kind of gushes over the sides of the kimchee rice. This omelet was well done but it still works, could have used a bit more rice too. If that's Korean style then so be it but I kind of like the soft omelette that you can split open. The service was also pretty good. The people working here were very nice and friendly. The Bad: Menu is a bit limited. I understand they are working on it. I didn't see any steamed rice on it but the kid said they had it. I would have ordered a bowl or two if I had seen it or thought about it. The dishes are set up more American style. The Kimchee Omelet came on a plate with a side salad. So did a noodle dish with a side salad. I suppose this works for many but I think it would be better to have a family style service. Give people individual plates and then have the entree plate in the center of the table. I suppose this will become more evident when they start doing more dine in than takeout. I also would like to see more types chicken pieces and sauces. I don't know if they're going for Chimaek at this place but it would be nice to have a cheese powder and one that is super spicy. The Ugly: No kimchee. I'm not expecting banchan but would it kill them to put a side of kimchee on the menu? I know it's there because they make kimchee fried rice and it was very tasty so...that's got to be a cheap way to pickup a couple side bucks per order. Also, I hate drinking out of paper cups with a straw. If they're going to do table service buy some plastic tumblers? So, anyway, this was a good visit, the food was very good for a new place. I think they said they're still doing a soft opening so I think this place will take off at some point. Some (lots) of this review might seem a pit nitpicky but I am hoping they'll read it and fix some stuff if they see value in doing so. Maybe take a look at what Bonchon and Koja are doing and add a few more items to the menu. I will go back and try the Dak-Galbi when I have some people with me and also try their soup. Tried this place for lunch on a whim. Technically, it was right after lunch, as we were the only people there, having missed the rush. I ordered their MG wings, which were hot, fresh and full of flavor. I'm also a huge fan of Kimchi fried rice, so that was a must for me. It was good, above average, hence the rating. I felt that it was missing something, although I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It could've been the way they prepped it, or their recipe, it was still very good. Every time I've tried Kimchi fried rice from other places, the egg was over easy, or at least soft and a little runny. Which, in this instance it was over hard. After a little trouble finding the place, we took a few moments to look at the menu and decided to order the Galbitang, the Pork Belly Musubi, and the Beef Brisket Fries. All three tasted good, but there are a few things that could be improved on. Starting with the Pork Belly Musubi It was a little difficult to eat. Normally, when I think of a musubi, I think of protein and rice wrapped in a seaweed sheet. I'm sure they have their reasons for not wrapping it in seaweed, but I think there needs to be something that holds it all together. That being said, the pork belly was delicious and the rice was perfectly cooked. Moving on to the Beef Brisket Fries. This was the best dish of the three. The seasoned fries are good on their own, but the sauces and brisket pieces were a great inclusion. The only thing I would suggest is including a side of extra sauce, or maybe a different plating method so the fries on the bottom will get the sauce too. It was very addicting. But lastly, the Galbitang. This was my first time having galbitang, and I don't know if this was supposed to be a hot or cold dish, but the broth was warm. It needs to pick a side. But flavor-wise it was light and soothing. I would suggest eating half of the broth before breaking the egg open. The yolk will mix with the broth and give you a new experience for the broth. The glass noodles were good and I believe stay true to the traditional dish. The "galbi" unfortunately, was too tough to eat. My suggestion is to either cut the slices thinner, or cook it less before serving in hot broth. However the meat on the bone was good. If I had to give a score for each dish, I would give the Pork Belly Musubi a 4/5, the Beef Brisket Fries a 4.75/5, and the Galbitang a 3/5. read more

Walked into the restaurant on a 98 degree weather day and found that the restaurant temperature was not feeling any better. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. We were not greeted when we went to the counter but instead were told that they accept card only. That's fine, we order the food. While waiting for food to arrive, used their facilities and walked by the thermostat, its set at 85 degrees. We had the chicken wings, brisket fries, kimchi fried rice and curry dish. Prices were decent and the food was delicious. Recommendations for the restaurant would be to have friendlier staff and set the restaurant temperature to a decent dine in temperature. This place was worth the 5 min drive up 65 off 80 when you're traveling from the Bay to Reno or vice versa. We went in on a Friday evening, on our way down to the Bay, service was relatively quick and the peopl at the front counter were very nice helping us navigate throug the menu. We settled on the MG wings- nice crunch to them, very savory with a hint of sweetness and these sauce drizzled on top was tasty, I shoulda ordered 12 instead of 6 My wife had the Dak Galbi, it was good chicken was tender the rice cake was soft. It was very hearty. Okay I normally don't force people to get what I get but if you're reading this you need to order the Crispy Chicken Curry, this was the best thing we ordered and I know other things might be good, but don't pass this up! Chicken perfectly breaded and fried, the curry was Korean style a little bit more spicy than Japanese but not as strong as Indian Curry. It was fire!
