    Not much to say about this location as it's just a hardware store and I come here at least once a month. I'm always in and out pretty quickly. Shelves seem to be pretty well stocked. Occasionally it's hard to find an employee if you're looking for something, but once you find someone they're pretty helpful. Lots of sales over the last week. Easy to make returns, sometimes there can be a line for the returns, especially this time of year. Overall this is a very clean well stocked and maintained location.

    It's very obvious there are problems with people like "Kevin" at this location. He flat out lied to me during a "customer service" encounter. I bought a single very standard door online for pick-up, 4 days ago. I received notice that it was ready for pick-up and then realized (even though the door was standard for most people, I had ordered the incorrect door for myself). I then created another order with the correct door "for me" to get picked up. When going to customer service for a refund of the incorrect door, Kevin informed me there would be a 25% restock fee for my mistake. This is highly punitive damage for an honest mistake on a standard item. However, "KEVIN" made sure that he told me that he was the General Manager and this was the final. So, Kevin said it was "very" clear when I ordered this door that I would be charged a 25% restock fee if I tried to return it. Well, I never picked up the door. I was looking for credit (in-store, would have been fine). I asked Kevin for a break on the 25% fee, but was told, "Nope". Please see the attached and tell me if a 25% restock on this order was apparent. Never again! Explanation of the attached. Nothing on the "order page" nor the "submit payment page" (final page, where payment is made), says "there is a 25% restock if you cancel this order". BTW: This was not a "Special Order", it was just not in-stock at this location. I had to drill into the "View Return Policy" to find: A special order may be returned at the sole discretion of Menards® with a 25% restocking fee. So, this encounter with Menards and Kevin cost me over $40 for a simple mistake. It will cost Menards nothing, except a bad review and the loss of a customer for life.

    I understand the world is crazy right now and prices just keep rising and everyone's paying them but my issue is the way this situation was handled. I went in on a Monday to look at front doors for our home, took a bunch of pictures to go home and show my husband. We came back not even a week later together to purchase the door we agreed upon and the prices had jumped in range $100-$300. I had gone to the front desk and showed them the dates and the pictures and asked them if they could honor the prices I took of the selected door that I took a few days ago. The kid I spoke with had to have been no older than 22 years old told me "nope, the prices are the way the prices are." Upset with the response I got, I had emailed customer service/corporate explaining my situation and the service I had received in store. I was given a answer such as "thank Biden for inflation, our prices are rising. Sorry" very short, unprofessional, and very unsettling. I have attached the price of the doors i took on a Monday (the lower price) and then the price i arrived to on a Friday. Not very great customer service. They could have handled the situation better.

    Horrible customer service!!!! Very unprofessional and rude. They don't know what they were talking about regarding their own store policies. They are wishy washy on their response and tell you to go to the store so it can be fixed. I end up calling the front customer service 2 separate times of which they asked you to come to the store to implement what you spoke to them on the phone, mind you this is after telling them the whole nine yards on the details of the issue so I don't waste my time, you get there and they completely reversed on what they told you on the phone and tell you they can't do anything. They seem to enjoy wasting people's time. The reason that I m go wing three stars is after back and forth I was going to get what I wanted.

    pea gravel behind the lumber

    I ordered lumber and pea gravel to be delivered to my home $900. 2x12 x12 and 2x4x10 and 50 bags of pea gravel on a pallet. The delivery person was very rude and disrespectful. They called at 0630 to let me know they would be here in 30 min, so that was good. When they arrived I went outside to let them know where to put things. They had unloaded the fork lift and had the bundled lumber already picked up. I motioned to him where to put the lumber and he yells that he can't get it down the driveway. I attempted to tell him to put the pea gravel by the garage, but he put the 12 foot lumber sideways across the driveway completely blocking it off. He yelled I needed to read the contract ( I read the contract) and it's not his fault I bought this house! He puts the pallet up against the lumber so there is no way to even access the back yard and he won't move the lumber and put the gravel by the garage. I drive to the Menards in Glen Dale Heights and spoke to the person at the pick up desk and got nowhere, as if this isn't the first time he has heard this complaint. It 's costing me $129 to have them pick up the entire order and take it back to be returned. The store manager looked 18 years old and just stood at the desk and said sorry, it's our policy. Well sorry kid, I'm going to vent to some of the 2500 nurses I work with.

    We heart Menard's. It is highly preferred to Home Depot in our household. We were looking at kitchen sinks at Menard's the other day. The model one had no price tag, and we loved it, so we asked the kind gentleman for help. He went to talk to his manager, and brought us back a printout showing us that it can only be bought online now, and that the floor model was $300. It was out of budget, and we were bummed, but appreciated this young man's help. We got our new Christmas tree, tree topper, tree skirt, holiday decorations and more at this same visit. Oh! And the most adorable tiny Christmas tree that you can put on your work desk - that actually lights up! (See photo) I think it was $7 or $8. Not bad at all - we need a little Christmas cheer at the old law firm. We'll be back for all of our home improvement, grocery, decorative needs in the future!

    The Minute Key machine is AWESOME!

    I've shopped at this Menards primarily for drop sheets and duplicating keys. Customer service, in general, is usually hit or miss. The Minute Key machine they have is GREAT! It's very quick (duh), takes credit or cash, and has some cute designs. Definitely recommended!

When we explained we wanted a light weight, quiet model he pointed us to a Ryobi model (the company that also makes Milwaukee tools) that seemed perfect for what we wanted and needed. He then explained that if we purchased the trimmer/edger we would also get the necessary battery and charger that would work with all three implements. To further help us make the purchase decision he opened the trimmer/edger and put it together which allowed my husband to really assess if it was going to work for him. At another point in the process, Jim, from electrical came over to lend a hand. This level of service was exceptional and will not be forgotten the next time we need to make hardware purchases!!     My Home Depot truck rental experience was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever…read morehad. I reserved a rental truck three weeks in advance at the Carol Stream, IL Home Depot. When I arrived to pick it up, I was informed that my reservation had been cancelled. No one could explain why, and I had received no phone call, email, or any other notification that my reservation no longer existed. The rental associate did everything they could to help, but they were just as confused as I was. They even told me this isn't an uncommon occurrence and that two other customers the day before had also been turned away after their reservations were mysteriously cancelled. That says this is a systemic problem, not an isolated mistake. The associate searched for another available truck and found one at the Downers Grove Home Depot. Before making the drive, I called that store myself and was told they had a truck available. After driving all the way there, I was met by employees who informed me they had misread the computer system and there was actually no truck available. I asked to speak with a manager. While he acknowledged my frustration, he also couldn't explain why my original reservation had been cancelled. After a lengthy discussion, the only solution offered was a truck that had been taken out of service because of a broken windshield wiper. Since I had no other option and urgently needed the truck, I accepted it. To the manager's credit, he reduced my rental charge by 50% for the 2.5-hour rental, and I appreciate that gesture. However, a discount doesn't fix the underlying issue. The most frustrating part is that Home Depot allows customers to reserve trucks weeks in advance, charges a reservation fee, and then apparently provides no guarantee whatsoever that the truck will actually be there. If reservations can simply disappear without notice, what is the purpose of making one? To make matters worse, the manager even suggested that perhaps I was supposed to do something after making the reservation to confirm it. I did exactly what Home Depot required--I made the reservation, received a confirmation number, and paid the reservation fee. There was nothing else I was instructed to do. My advice to anyone considering a Home Depot truck rental is simple: don't rely on the reservation. Even if you have a confirmation number and have paid the reservation fee, there is apparently no assurance that a truck will be available when you arrive. If you're moving or working on a project with a strict schedule, be prepared for the possibility that your reservation could be cancelled without warning and without explanation. This entire experience was frustrating, inconvenient, and completely avoidable. Home Depot needs to fix its reservation system or stop calling it a reservation in the first place. Angry customer

That same friendly, helpful young lady was working the cash register. It took less than 1/2 hour from the time I made the call until my grandson hit the slopes. Sure it sounds routine and not worth a review, but it served as an another reminder for me of the extra value of going to an independent Ace Hardware store, rather than the major chains. I had ran in to a Walmart store along the way. Although I very rarely frequent them, I figured a big store like that would have a sled. They did not, and they sure weren't sorry they couldn't help me. What a difference! I googled "sleds near me" when I was in the Bloomingdale area, and this store popped up. Who knew a hardware store would be the place to buy a sled? Nice sized clean store, wonderful people, in stock, affordable. Nothing against the big hardware chains, but I'll be thinking Ace first on my next purchases.

    Needed to return some faucets that were bought a while back but never installed. Since we didn't…read moreneed them anymore, my wife decided to return them. She had the receipts, and there was a dedicated customer service/return line. Chris was the associate that helped her, and he did a good job. He made sure each box was legit and then easily put the charge back in the original form of payment. Lowes competes with Menards and Home Depot in this area, and it always seems to be the least busy. It is fully staffed, so easy to find help...but I always wonder how well they are doing.

The box didn't look like it had been previously opened. The return was easy, and we bought another rod that looked just like it. Again, we brought it home, and there was no hardware included. This is where it gets frustrating. I took it back again, asked if they could open another box at the store and see if they had the hardware, which it did. I assumed the customer service rep would just give me the hardware, and at some point take the rest of the boxes off the shelves and contact the manufacturer. He said something about not being able to give me something from an open box, and they could give me the brackets but not the mounting screws? I think there might have been a language barrier with this employee. At this point I just took the brackets out of the box, told him it didn't make any sense, and left. (I knew we had screws at home.) What was supposed to be a few hours hanging a curtain rod actually took all day. We won't go back to Lowes again.
