Got the opportunity to go to a Menards that I haven't been to before, since it was in the same direction as the errands my daughter and I needed to run. I can't get myself to go in the opposite direction from my main errand, even if the total distance covered ends up being longer. Needed parts, specifically garage door hinges. It's a huge Menards, with very large signs attached from the ceiling indicating which was what. We went to the same area where they sell garage door openers, hoping to find someone to help us. But nope, the hanging display had steel hinges. I was afraid that they would only sell them in complete sets, but they sold them individually . There wasn't a huge variety or brands, but the piece we wanted was there and for a low price (same as what Amazon was selling a hinge for). So we got a couple of different ones, a set of rollers in case the existing ones could be replaced. It wasn't too busy, but they had enough registers open so the wait was minimal (one person in front of us). Menards has the payment register all the way at the end of the shopping belt, so as soon as it's your turn, you are encouraged to move there so you can bag your own purchases while paying for it. it does mean that you can't verify the scanned price is what you think it is. We paid and were on our way...need to make sure that our 11% rebate forms are filled out and submitted. read more

Not much to say about this location as it's just a hardware store and I come here at least once a month. I'm always in and out pretty quickly. Shelves seem to be pretty well stocked. Occasionally it's hard to find an employee if you're looking for something, but once you find someone they're pretty helpful. Lots of sales over the last week. Easy to make returns, sometimes there can be a line for the returns, especially this time of year. Overall this is a very clean well stocked and maintained location. read more

Went to the service counter with an issue,the young girl working there seemed put out that she had to help. I asked a question about a rebate receipt that had been damaged at the check out. She gave me a blowoff answer and when I questioned it,she dismissed me. I went out to my car very unsatisfied so I decided to go back on and talk to a manager. I approached the same girl and asked to speak to a manager,she told me she was a manager she was very disrespectful and basically dismissed me again. Today my wife and I went to buy a dishwasher. Diane, who helped us in the appliance area was very pleasant, helpful, and courteous. The sale was completely lost when we went to the scheduling area and were NOT helped by ARTHUR. He was rude, obviously couldn't care a less about his job, and seemed to hate every second he was interacting with a customer. Nickel and diming a customer for every little thing and being treated rudely caused us to cancel the whole darn thing - Disgusted. Way to go Menards ! You blew a $500+ sale ! Had $1900 worth of wood delivered to a location I did not give. I gave coordinates, drawn map, detailed instructions, qnd a call to confirm my dropped location. The call for delivery was made at 6:15 am on Memorial Day. I was available at 7 am on a nonwork day to receive the delivery, but the driver had already delivered the order to the wrong location. This Menards did not offer to make this right by simply delivering to the correct location, and the wood was left in the rain. There was no customer service, no accountability, and no olive branch to make things right. read more

It's very obvious there are problems with people like "Kevin" at this location. He flat out lied to me during a "customer service" encounter. I bought a single very standard door online for pick-up, 4 days ago. I received notice that it was ready for pick-up and then realized (even though the door was standard for most people, I had ordered the incorrect door for myself). I then created another order with the correct door "for me" to get picked up. When going to customer service for a refund of the incorrect door, Kevin informed me there would be a 25% restock fee for my mistake. This is highly punitive damage for an honest mistake on a standard item. However, "KEVIN" made sure that he told me that he was the General Manager and this was the final. So, Kevin said it was "very" clear when I ordered this door that I would be charged a 25% restock fee if I tried to return it. Well, I never picked up the door. I was looking for credit (in-store, would have been fine). I asked Kevin for a break on the 25% fee, but was told, "Nope". Please see the attached and tell me if a 25% restock on this order was apparent. Never again! Explanation of the attached. Nothing on the "order page" nor the "submit payment page" (final page, where payment is made), says "there is a 25% restock if you cancel this order". BTW: This was not a "Special Order", it was just not in-stock at this location. I had to drill into the "View Return Policy" to find: A special order may be returned at the sole discretion of Menards® with a 25% restocking fee. So, this encounter with Menards and Kevin cost me over $40 for a simple mistake. It will cost Menards nothing, except a bad review and the loss of a customer for life. read more

I understand the world is crazy right now and prices just keep rising and everyone's paying them but my issue is the way this situation was handled. I went in on a Monday to look at front doors for our home, took a bunch of pictures to go home and show my husband. We came back not even a week later together to purchase the door we agreed upon and the prices had jumped in range $100-$300. I had gone to the front desk and showed them the dates and the pictures and asked them if they could honor the prices I took of the selected door that I took a few days ago. The kid I spoke with had to have been no older than 22 years old told me "nope, the prices are the way the prices are." Upset with the response I got, I had emailed customer service/corporate explaining my situation and the service I had received in store. I was given a answer such as "thank Biden for inflation, our prices are rising. Sorry" very short, unprofessional, and very unsettling. I have attached the price of the doors i took on a Monday (the lower price) and then the price i arrived to on a Friday. Not very great customer service. I was reminded today why I prefer Home Depot. I purchased a fireplace mantle and was indecisive of which size to get, so ordered 2 of them. The order was delayed and by the time they both came in, we had decided on 1. I was told when I went into the store, there is a 25% restocking fee for special orders, even though nothing is special about it and I never even opened it $50 charge for an item that was never even opened and easily resalable for them. . Awful! In addition to the mail in rebate program, that requires a long wait, Home Depot continues to be far superior than Menards. read more

The employees here are helpful well trained knowledgeable I had a leaky toilet that needed a flapper,when I showed the part to an employee came to me and asked if they could help me they knew what I needed and got for me saved me a lot of time trying to find it and it was the proper part.then I needed primer paint and wood water sealer the employee at the paint department gave me advice on the products ,put the paint in the shaker and got the other supplies I needed great service,knowledge and friendly,after visiting two other home centers and being ignored getting the wrong parts by employees that were not trained or just didn't care it was really refreshing to see employees that cared. read more

The truck rental is a complete "bait & switch" $18 for the first 75-minutes. It's written on the vehicles. What they don't tell you until you get to the counter is there is also a .50 cent charge PER MILE plus $5 weekend charge. So if you rent a truck, don't leave the parking lot. read more

Horrible customer service!!!! Very unprofessional and rude. They don't know what they were talking about regarding their own store policies. They are wishy washy on their response and tell you to go to the store so it can be fixed. I end up calling the front customer service 2 separate times of which they asked you to come to the store to implement what you spoke to them on the phone, mind you this is after telling them the whole nine yards on the details of the issue so I don't waste my time, you get there and they completely reversed on what they told you on the phone and tell you they can't do anything. They seem to enjoy wasting people's time. The reason that I m go wing three stars is after back and forth I was going to get what I wanted. read more

This review is only good for a few months since I'd like to think businesses do improve through customer feedback. Menard's has always been a good shopping experience in the past. Today 07/06/21 I noticed no sanitizers or paper towels to wipe down the carts anywhere at the entrance or on site. It looks as though there was a run on the store because they didn't stock anything I was planning to get. There was one trellis which was badly damaged. Price tags were missing. This is not the Menard's I remember and enjoyed in the past. I hope they will recover soon. I will re-write this review. read more

I ordered lumber and pea gravel to be delivered to my home $900. 2x12 x12 and 2x4x10 and 50 bags of pea gravel on a pallet. The delivery person was very rude and disrespectful. They called at 0630 to let me know they would be here in 30 min, so that was good. When they arrived I went outside to let them know where to put things. They had unloaded the fork lift and had the bundled lumber already picked up. I motioned to him where to put the lumber and he yells that he can't get it down the driveway. I attempted to tell him to put the pea gravel by the garage, but he put the 12 foot lumber sideways across the driveway completely blocking it off. He yelled I needed to read the contract ( I read the contract) and it's not his fault I bought this house! He puts the pallet up against the lumber so there is no way to even access the back yard and he won't move the lumber and put the gravel by the garage. I drive to the Menards in Glen Dale Heights and spoke to the person at the pick up desk and got nowhere, as if this isn't the first time he has heard this complaint. It 's costing me $129 to have them pick up the entire order and take it back to be returned. The store manager looked 18 years old and just stood at the desk and said sorry, it's our policy. Has anyone seen a 11% rebate in the last 6 months? I have over $500 due and seen nothing. Nothing even shows up in tracking since Aug on their websit. Just opened a store and I tried them, now realize the 11% is nothing but a scam. In todays technology, there is no reason to have to mail rebates in, should be electronic like most others. I forgot this is a scam and they hope no one mails in, if you do then Menards losses them, but since you no longer have the proper form it takes additional weeks and effort to mail things back in. This is all a scam, they do not want to pay and make it difficult to accomplish. Nothing changed this week yet. This is week 15 since Aug 10. For those at Menards who are horrible and failed math. 15 is a bigger number then the 10 weeks I keep hearing. The only rebate I have received since july involved me contacting Menards numerous times like I am now and it took over 10 weeks. This is a full time job dealing with the loser company called Menards. The crazy part is menards refuses to take any responsibility. Please wait, no compensation for the companies failures, maybe should fire all the customer support people, because what we do not get is customer support, just lies and excuses. I am sure if this ever actually happens I will be out hundreds of dollars in rebates due to menards losing my receipts by accident, and then the most I think anyone will get back is I am sorry. We heart Menard's. It is highly preferred to Home Depot in our household. We were looking at kitchen sinks at Menard's the other day. The model one had no price tag, and we loved it, so we asked the kind gentleman for help. He went to talk to his manager, and brought us back a printout showing us that it can only be bought online now, and that the floor model was $300. It was out of budget, and we were bummed, but appreciated this young man's help. We got our new Christmas tree, tree topper, tree skirt, holiday decorations and more at this same visit. Oh! And the most adorable tiny Christmas tree that you can put on your work desk - that actually lights up! (See photo) I think it was $7 or $8. I bought about $300 in one purchase this week. I used a $21 store credit. I had to return about $120 worth of what I bought. They would only give me $99, and that store credit back. I asked the manager for my $21 instead the store credit. No sh said. I returned almost all of my original purchase. To be fair, Menards has almost everything and for the DIYer, this is the place to be. Nearly anything you could possibly want or need to fix, modify or whatever else in a home or vehicle, to an extent - you can find it here. My only gripe is the service here is painstakingly slow, I feel as if the cashiers I've seen here on a repeat basis are on their first day for the nth time in a row. Lines are not well managed or operated and the customer service here when it comes to item/order pick-ups are terrible, and I mean absolutely terrible. No organization. The bright side is, the store itself really is organized, so it balances out quite well. The staff that work the various departments for the most part have been helpful and the gatekeeper that monitors vehicles coming in and out from pick-up is very friendly. Overall, a good place to be, decent parking - but watch out for people that are careless rounding the corners or flying in from the street, they drive like idiots around here. read more

I've shopped at this Menards primarily for drop sheets and duplicating keys. Customer service, in general, is usually hit or miss. The Minute Key machine they have is GREAT! It's very quick (duh), takes credit or cash, and has some cute designs. Definitely recommended! read more

This store is just basically amazing. The service is great. The staff here are really a big help. They are kind, friendly, and helpful, and they help as much as they can. They are also knowledgeable, and you can ask them about anything inside the store. I went to the store to look for new rugs. The store is also well-organized by department, and as I walked to the rug section, I couldn't help but notice how clean everything was. The whole place is clean, even when there is a lot of stuff, and everything is organized on their shelves. As expected, they have a wonderful selection and it is really hard to choose because everything looks great and everything has good quality too. The prices are also fair and reasonable. I chose only one, and I am definitely happy with it. I also took the chance to buy other things that I needed. Overall, I had a good experience at this place, and I am very happy with everything I bought. This place is definitely one of the best. read more

Normally I would go to a local nursery for plants, but for some reason THIS location has the BEST selection of plants! Its only for a short time early spring to early summer, but totally worth getting their early to buy. I've been to other Mernards for plants and their selection isn't nearly as nice as this location. read more

Menards does it again! Although, to be fair, the person who got over on Menards has to get a hat tip. The manager was Brow beaten into giving a guy 12-1x6 finish boards for .99 cents each. The kicker? They were tagged $6.99 each! I guess if you hold up the line long enough, you get the price you want! That's a $72.00 savings. (I did the math for the Menards employees.) When brought to the register it took quite a bit of time and several people to come to the conclusion that they would not honor the price on display because someone put the wrong sale sign up. I work in retail, and I would say depending on the policy most retailers would honor or at least give you something off. Customer service was very dismissive, with no apology. I had no idea that this store carried so much stuff! This was my first visit to a Menards and wow! This location has groceries as well as the typical hardware store stuff and CHEAP jeans. We went here to get jeans for son #2 to wear for his summer landscaping job. I know they will be in bad shape at the end of the summer so I'm not buying $50 Levis. Someone told me to try here and yea, they are inexpensive but heavy duty. They have some carpenter style ones (no kid of mine is wearing those, it's not the 80s!). There are signs on the end of each aisle telling you the contents but we had a hard time finding what we wanted. We asked 1 employee who said it was by the door and then when we still couldn't find it we found another employee who told us it was by the other door. It's clean and there's plenty of parking, I just wish it was easier to find what we wanted and the staff was easier to find. read more

I'm done with this chain. I can no longer subsidize the greed of John Menard. This guy is worth over 8 BIllion dollars and has clearly gotten there by underpaying and mistreating his employees, ignoring environmental and labor laws, and then gouging customers with rebate forms he knows most won't mail in. Enough. The final straw came today when renting a truck to carry some plywood. Notwithstanding the $18.95 price written on their trucks, Menards now charges a mandatory, non-refundable $4.75 fuel surcharge and a refundable $50 deposit on top of the $18.95. $18.95 + $4.75 + tax on both the fuel and rental brings the actual price to $25.20. Other are at $20 with tax. You have my CC, so why the deposit? That's just nonsense. Worse, they illegally charge tax on it. Yes you get it back with the tax, but why bother at all when renting a dirty beat up pickup with 50k miles on it and requiring my insurance card? The fuel surcharge is pure greed. You are only allowed the truck for 75 minutes so using up $4.75 in gas in that time is a real challenge given how local the truck use is likely to be. Since the employees check in/out the truck anyway, how hard is it to monitor fuel? This time the employee walked my around the truck pointing out the countless dings, scratches and cracks that Menards certainly got insurance settlements for, but never fixed. The manager told me this charge started in Dec 2016 after "issues" occurred at other stores. Sure... I will now move all my business to the other 2 big box stores that are literally down the street from Menards. Life's too short to support nonsense and greed. read more

Came here in need for a few bedroom doors. Had help in the department locating the doors we needed and loaded them up. Got to the register, the single register open and there was a return or some kind of issue and the register was shut down. The second line that was open as soon as about 3 of us were in the original line about to switch over, left and went to the afternoon which is right by the registers. NO OTHER LINES opened up even as the 8 other employees stood at the front. Please realize to get coverage before your only checkout line is down. She asked me what i needed help with and decided to walk away and ring other customers up at a cash register while I took out my two items. She then helped another customer that was behind me when she clearly saw me there first. She then asked me what I needed and I told me she couldn't help me and because she didn't handle exchanges and I needed to go up front. She could've just told me that from the beginning if she had given me a chance to ask her before she rudely walked away. I will not be back to this location. But it was pretty disappointing to find that section of the store totally unmanned. It was like a counter top ghost town. Not to be deterred I asked for help, checked out light fixtures while waiting, but help never arrived. I snooped at floor tile; still no show. They could have closed the store and I would have still been there, waiting. I'm not sure if this is characteristic of this particular Menards branch, but a word to the corporate wise, I would address this. I am a pretty loyal consumer; and fairly reasonable; but I wasn't the only person milling around aimlessly, in need of help. I really hate when this happens. read more

Apparently, the staff at Menard's has relied on my delight at finding powdered soup there and hasn't thought me worthy of receiving good customer service. Well guess what - 4 years later and the appeal of powdered soup has long worn off, and what I am left with is a poorly stocked store that is too damn big, run by sourpuss employees that clearly hate their jobs and the public they're supposed to serve. At first I thought it was me, but reading some recent reviews by other Yelpers, I see they too experienced the same things. And by contrast, experienced a big difference by going to the competition instead. Thank you for validating me! I am in the process of putting up new shelves in my basement. I needed 3 shelves, 2 seven foot standards, and 21 brackets. The shelves I'm using are 8' long. Several associates passed me and didn't ask if I needed help. Seven as a matter of fact. Seven associates passed by me as I was pulling out 8' shelves. Unreal. Then the real kicker was that they only had 20 brackets. When I checked out the girl asked me if I found everything. I said, "No. I need 1 more bracket. Can you have someone check for me?" Her response: "Sure. Once I check you out you can go to customer service and see if they have more or can check another store. If we have more then you can check out again". I was in Menards Glendale Hieghts today 6/27/2019 and was buying glass tile for my kitchen wall with my wife they only had 3 boxes left and 6 pieces they were all cracked the cashier brought over the front end supervisor and with a horrible attitude she called the dept. head he said give the 1.50 off she started to argue with another customer about his counter top that he had bought.Then I had ms. bad attitude call the store manager he came he was really the out door manager he could not help I told him they were worth a dollar, so when I went to the customer service desk a young lady another bad attitude told me we would rather return them to the manufacturer we will get more money for defective product. Large selection of faucets. Employees not very helpful. Lots of fun impulse items near checkout! Menards is a basic, big-box hardware store. Not as nice as Home Depot or Lowes, and definitely no help from employees, but if you know what you want, you can probably find it here. My one big complaint, aside from the customer service, is that when you enter the store you have to go through a turnstyle. But if you are in a wheelchair or have a stroller, you have to unlatch this little gate, open it and go through. Very inconvenient! read more

So we were consistently going to Menards after buying our house since it was the closest home improvement store around. We just kept consistently getting treated poorly by employees. When you ask for the help, they never know the answer (and I'm not asking complex things). They don't know where things are at. What's worse is when someone does come who does know the answer, you can tell they really don't want to be there. We had experience after experience where they would tell us things are in stock and we drive all the way to the farther store and they don't have it. Or, my wife would go alone and ask for help getting 2x4's down and they said no and then reluctantly did it. In contrast, we went to the Home Depot in Glendale Heights recently and it was night/day different. We were asked by 3 people in the first 10 minutes if we needed any help. Later, they helped us get one of the reel lawn mowers down so we could test it and never came across poorly. So go to Home Depot instead. read more
