I loved the vibrancy of the area and how open and clean the store felt in Studio City! That being said it was empty when I went and I ordered my wrap to go so take this review with a grain of salt. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap having seen someone from my hometown review it and honestly I thought this wrap was mid af. I mean I don't really know what I expected, but I had high hopes. The "tortilla" wrap itself was nice and thin and I really enjoyed in but in terms of the depth of flavor, I wasn't really getting anything special, even though it was promoted as such. I thought the chicken was a bit unseasoned and the dressing was a little too sour for my liking. I cook a lot at home with my girlfriend and Caesar salad is definitely one of our go tos so I was a little disappointed to say the least. I've been ordering two salmon bowls from Sweetgreen at least three times a week for over a year, so this isn't a one-time experience. Unfortunately, I've noticed a consistent decline in the portion size of the salmon--it keeps getting smaller and smaller. What's frustrating is that the prices have stayed the same while the portions continue to shrink. As a loyal customer, that's really disappointing. I don't mind paying for quality, but the value just isn't there anymore. At this point, I'm done ordering from here and will be taking my business elsewhere. When I got home not only was the portion smaller on the steak dish, but it was missing the steak. The crispy rice bowl was practically all arugula and also missing the protein, in this case chicken. I was annoyed because well #1 I was really hungry #2 I had nothing on hand that I could improvise with #3 to report this to Customer Service via text was very inconvenient. I haven't been here in awhile, forgot how good is actually is. Plates are about $20 so for 2 it is about $50. I got the miso glazed salmon, it's a smaller piece of salmon but they give a lot of rice, small a side of pickled onions, small side of cucumbers and maybe a scoop full of fried onion (I wanted more), and half of a avocado. Overall it was good and it comes with sesame dressing. The flavor is there and the rice was my favorite, it was so fluffy. Hot honey chicken they give a good portion of chicken, a bed of quinoa, small scoop of fried onions and purple cabbage. Tasty, it isn't spicy to me and come with hot honey sauce on the side or on top. It's a thick sauce. They gave us 2 dressings for each plate which was good. The facility is clean and the workers are nice. The organic green tea is very healthy and light. Not much sugar so don't get it if you're looking for sweetness. read more

My salad was great and I was happy with my salmon side. This is a better location than my local Pasadena one, which I had stopped going to over 3 years ago. Maybe I'll go back and give the Pasadena one another try. My "server" was friendly and helpful even though she was new on the job. One oddity though is I asked if I could split my drink between two types of the lemonade. She said "I don't know if that's allowed - let me ask the manager." Thereafter ensued a couple minute talk among three employees and the answer was "No" - but I was 'welcome' to order to order one kind. What an absurdity. read more

Manny the manager is rude and disrespectful towards his customers. I ordered food and as I give him the $100 bill to pay he says it's store policy to not take $100. He then proceeds to tell me to try different stores instead of him taking responsibility for not having a sign up at the register or anywhere that says they cannot take a $100 bill. The food was already prepared and he didn't offer any comp and made a joke saying his first and last name are the same "manny manny" which I know is not true. I really wanted to try this place for a while on the Westside in Culver, but could never find parking. I happened to be on the same block and saw they had a store here in Studio City. The salad special of the month, peaches and goat cheese, sealed the deal. This was finally the day! I liked the store format of build your own salad and add protein, choose dressings and toppings. I had been to Salada for years and this similar DIY salad concept equally fresh and had a many more upscale and exotic choices. The peaches and goat cheese salad did not disappoint. I chose salmon as my protein and it was a full on dinner size pice. Totally delicious. Value for money is here. Flavors are on point. Staff were casual and friendly. There were a few people that seemed like regulars from the neighborhood and that seemed a really good thing. Tables could have been cleaned better and trash was over flowing. So my mind went to 'what's going on in the kitchen' that I can't see. Other than that, I'll be back. read more

My hummus had crusts all over it and looked funny. I ordered my bowl for 3:45, and it was ready at 3:28. I want my food at 3:45, not 3:28 -- if I show up early, that's on me to wait. But if I order for a certain time, my food should be fresh at that time, not sitting out getting crusty. Also, the rice was a huge disappointment -- dry and crusty, like the hard bottom layer of the pot that's just inedible. And the place was absolutely empty. No customers at all. So it's not like they were rushing to keep up with a lunch crowd -- they just made my order way too early for no reason. To top it off, this isn't even my first bad experience here. About two weeks ago, I stood in line for 15 minutes while they prioritized online orders -- not the actual customer standing right in front of them (I get it but they didn't even acknowledge me). All I wanted was hummus and focaccia, and I still had to wait another 10-15 minutes, just standing there watching them make order after order for people who weren't even in the store. Ok so I have a confession: I'm obsessed with the SHROOMAMI salad! I'm not a vegan at all but I love it! It's very filling and delicious! My favorite part is the mushrooms and I don't even like mushrooms lol! So all that to say, I haven't tried any other salad so I can't comment on any of it BUT get the SHROOMAMI salad, you won't be disappointed! My only complaint is that I added a salmon and it was small, a little pricy and a bit dry. I would not recommend adding that protein. The service was fast and chill. I love the salads and the staff are mostly great-- however eating this a lot I finally found the dreaded not one but TWO BUGS in my bowl :(. It is super traumatizing for me as I ABSOLUTELY HATE BUGS. One was the small green worm-like bug w what looks like antennas seen in some of the photos others posted and the other a small maggot-looking white one w segments on the body. I was too grossed out to wait long enough to take a photo. I immediately tossed it. |[ p l e a s e f i x ]| Seeing the other reviews it seems this may be more common than ideal and I understand fresh veggies could have bugs but imo it is the store's responsibility to clean it well enough and unacceptable for bugs to be found in consumer bowls (and regularly) so this needs to be addressed. There is no excuse for this to be happening and seeing the bugs on my fork was just EWWWW. If I can see significant improvements to eliminate bugs in the salads here I may try them again but doesn't seem like the current method of cleaning is effective enough (now I wonder if the veggies are even washed). :( :( read more

I usually leave good reviews, but I cannot believe the terrible customer service we just received. We placed an order online and received a completely different order on delivery. The label info on the outside was correct, but the order placed inside was all wrong, so one of the Sweetgreens employees must have mistakenly put the wrong bowls in the bag. A clear oversight, but not a huge deal. So, I contacted their customer service and spoke with "HEITZEL R" to make the correction and was told flat out that they refused to refund even though the order information on the outside of the bag and the salads inside were clearly different orders. It wasn't the delivery service's error. When I asked if I could speak with another agent, he ended the chat. For such a simple fix, I cannot believe the flat out refusal to admit the error. NOTE: to the Sweetgreens PR department that I hope reads this review - "Heitzel R" needs some serious re-training. We're usually devoted fans on this brand and you just lost our business for life. Never heard of this place until a friend of mine decided to buy us both lunch. I ordered the fish taco salad and it did not disappoint. Wish I had a picture to show how it comes when ordering Togo. It has everything you could ever need in a bowl: greens, quinoa, cabbage, cilantro, avocado, mixed greens and a miso glazed salmon. Most places are rather skimpy when it comes to the size of the fish, but 8oz filet of fish was perfect for me. Although I am not a big fan of the vinaigrette I did try just so I know what was suppose to be paired with everything. I would've preferred a more earthy toned dressing but that is just me. Salads and bowls are the equivocal Cali meal. They can be simple and vegan or dressed up like the gold star of salads. The ingredients, colors, and mixtures are a pure food adventure that will take your taste buds on as little or as lengthy of a journey as you wish. We have a bounty of fast-casual establishments focusing on this power food and my favorite happens to be Sweetgreen. Sweetgreen focuses on seasonal ingredients, salads/bowls, and even adjusts these offerings for the city and region they are specifically located. Luckily for me, a new Sweetgreen opened in my 'hood and became my new neighbor. This addition to the Sweetgreen family is located in the Studio City/Sherman Oaks center on Ventura Blvd near the Coldwater intersection. Anyone familiar to this area knows that this strip is the happening place to be and offers about 3947230285 restaurant choices. Sweetgreen was up for the challenge and took up real estate in a newer strip facade; sticking to the California design esthetic of clean geometric lines, high ceilings, exposed wood, plenty of natural light, and mutual tones. Good luck with parking, though, if you choose to visit; as this area is busy-busy and mostly metered parking (Valet is offered but I would suggest going into the residential area on Valley Heart by the LA river for free street parking in front of the apartment buildings). Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by the counter staff which made me feel like when you enter a sushi bar and all the chefs acknowledge you. The great thing is this felt genuine and not a 'forced' practice or because the business is new at the time of this review. Also hitting you in the face is the excessive space in Sweetgreen. Although there are tables across from the order counter and a small dining area in the front; there is SO much empty-standing room that it is ridiculous and feels like square footage is being wasted. There is something odd about it. My qualm in the blueprint of Sweetgreen aside; I love their salads, warm bowls and fresh juices/teas and was excited to try this new location. I decided to order the Fish Taco warm bowl (roasted steelhead, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, warm quinoa, organic arugula, sweetgreen hot sauce, lime cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette) making absolute sure that it didn't contain gluten, which I am allergic to. The order taker was very kind and although he seemed nervous and obviously still learning; he was conversational and friendly. Turns out, Sweetgreen didn't have any of the salmon on hand and had to make some in the back so I had to wait a bit. Not a super big deal but this location obviously has some growing pains and high school freshman kinks to work out. The bowl itself was underfilled. I've eaten at other Sweetgreen locations in the Greater LA-area and the salads and bowls are filled to the prim and plump with ingredients. This was skimping, for sure. You're holding out on me, Sweetgreen! Not sure if this was because the assemblers were still learning or this is how it will be at this spot. Baby serving aside and even having to wait for the fish still didn't inhibit the great flavors of the actual food. The bowl was delicious, bright, and had the perfect acidity tones to spice. My taste buds sang but then were calmed with each cooling element like the cilantro lime vinaigrette. The fish was tender and flaky while bursting with flavor. I'm craving it just typing. It was satisfying, for sure. Warning, the paper straws here are the cheap paper kind that completely fall apart. Ugh. This new Sweetgreen is basically very middle and down the line. Not awful but also not mind-blowing and has some odds and ends to work out but overall: it is a solid choice for salads and bowls and is certainly still my favorite salad 'chain'. I've honestly been waiting for this sweetgreen location to open for YEARS, I mean YEARS long before I was ever out on my neighborhood walk and saw they broke ground and hung a coming soon sign. The valley needed a sweetgreen desperately. Well, they're open but it's definitely not my fav location of theirs. I think like all new things maybe they need to work some kinks out OR I'm such a creature of habit and things being done or presented in a certain manner with the Hollywood location I frequent weekly will cause me to need my own adjustment period with this loca. We stopped in for dinner after the first of the year and while it wasn't horrible the experience was different. The space is fairly small, not a ton of seating and the line wrapped down and in front of the restrooms which all together just creeps me out. I don't want to wait to order a salad in a line in front of a bathroom. We wanted the steelhead but there would be a wait for it so we both passed on our first choice and I ordered my usual Kale Caesar no chicken, add hot sauce, extra lime juice - which was ok, but seemed to be a lot smaller portion size than usual. We noticed their cherry tomatoes were sliced at this location which I really can appreciate because I typically waste a bunch of mine because I'm not big on these whole, so nice touch with those. I sat in the front near the window and although they've only been open a couple of weeks now the upholstery was completely stained and dirty already so I really think although it may have been a nice idea they should pull this out and just let it be wood or plastic because it's not inviting to sit on something that's stained and dirty. My friend also asked for an Earth Bowl which they had no idea how to make, understandably I suppose since it's a menu item from the past but the build your own then turned into a slight disaster and ending in the wrong dressing and more. All in all, I didn't get the impression I needed to rush back to this location and I didn't leave with the initial excitement I'd felt months back when I knew they were opening. Hopefully they can work with their team to improve somethings here and I think it'll be great soon, at least I hope it will because it's one of my most fav salad spots.
