I noticed some limited time salad bowl options on their website and decided to try one. I went with the Golden State Cobb salad, which is a straightforward Cobb style salad with mixed greens, bacon, avocado, hard boiled egg, blue cheese, tomatoes, and pickled red onions. You can add extra protein, and so I added chicken. The chicken looked kind of pale and bland at first, but it actually worked very well with the salad and the dressing, and it was surprisingly tender. Overall, the salad was pretty filling, used fresh ingredients, and stayed close to the classic Cobb formula. I also liked that the salad and dressing were packaged separately, which made it easy to control how much dressing I used. Flavor wise, everything felt well balanced, and the combination of bacon and blue cheese stood out to me in a good way. It was very enjoyable. We also tried three cookies: chocolate chip, gingerbread, and snickerdoodle. The gingerbread and snickerdoodle cookies were both fantastic, thick with slightly soft centers. The chocolate chip cookie, however, was not great. It was dry, the chocolate chip really wasn't giving anything, and overall it was hugely disappointing. I would skip that one next time. read more

I placed my order (almost 24hrs ahead) for pickup at 11am Thursday, and thank God I did earlier than initially planned because it took 30 minutes for my order (of a half sandwich, 2 sandwiches and 2 salads) to be ready!! I'm not a huge fan of beansprouts but I finished the whole salad (split into two different meals) because it mixed that well together. I also think you should ask for an extra order of the miso mustard for your salad if you're a dressing person cause one container was definitely not enough for me! I also ordered their pineapple tajin lemonade and probably would just get water or bottled sparkling water in the future. I paid $50 for 2 sandwiches and 1 salad, I don't think you're getting the best value but I guess it's better quality and fresher ingredients. The reason for only 3 stars is because the summer corn chowder was extremely misleading and more so like a soupy broth rather than a chowder with not even a lot of corn. I was super disappointed and would not get this again. They also didn't have any of their beverages filled. The mango chicken salad was good, the dressing was nice and I liked how they tossed it in. I was unfamiliar with Mendocino Farms, but it was chosen by the couple we were lunching with as the wife had specific dietary requirements and they had been to the one in San Ramon. It turned out this was great for me with my low carb requirement as they had seven salads to choose from! And these were not your boring typical salads made up 90% of lettuce, but interesting varieties. I had the Thai Mango Salad, which was delicious and quite filling; other than the croutons that looked a little too worm-like it was great. And it included chicken without the $2.99 surcharge on some of the salads. They also have a variety of sandwiches: my wife had the Chicken Pesto Caprese which she loved. Some have complained the sandwiches are too small, but this was just right for her. Nice lunch place, especially if you're looking for something that might fit your particular diet. read more

I frequent this place because it's good and the staff are always very pleasant and helpful- and it's about 5 minutes from my house. I love the Cesar chicken salad as a wrap- which brings me to this review. I'll preface this with- this review is solely based on my visit July 9th and the lack up of follow up and through by John. We got there about 20 minutes before closing and we ordered 2 Cesar salad wraps (roughly$40 bucks). We spent a few minutes with the cashier trying to replace the super food crunchies which we don't like and they don't have croutons. We also asked for the salad to be tossed so it would be mixed up vs stacked. Well, to our disappointment, when we got home and dug in- neither of the above requests made it to our order. Because we left at closing- no option to have it remade. I looked at the receipt and confirmed the onus was on the cashier. The second issue that night is I witnessed an employee standing on the food prep station to clean the back wall (she placed a sandwich wrapper under her foot- but she shouldn't be up there). Not only is this extremely unsanitary- it's also unsafe! If management wants the back wall cleaned to the ceiling- they should either hire a cleaning crew- or- make sure the employees have a safe way on accomplishing it without putting their safety in jeopardy while compromising food sanitation. I called the next morning and spoke to the manager John. I explained all of the above to him and he said, it was beginning lunch rush and he would call me back- he took my email and my name and phone number. To date, I haven't received a callback or an email. I always try to give places I love an opportunity to make it right before posting a review- but John dropped the ball. When you spend 40$ for lettuce, chicken, dressing and a wrap- you want it exactly as you requested. When you witness something unsafe and unsanitary- you want it corrected. I gave John almost a month to rectify this and he's chosen not to, so here we are. Hopefully, if I choose to visit this location again, I'll get exactly what I order and they'll be no employees standing on food stations. (I blacked the employees face out because it's not about her doing the wrong thing- it's about Mendicino Foods doing the RIGHT thing) read more
