This restaurant was great on my first visit, the second and third not so good. We came here as it was close to the Hospital where we have been visiting all week. On our first visit here we had a large party with varying orders. My order the Shrimp cocktail was fabulous. Alot of shrimp, onion and cilantro along with the flavorful juice. It came with crackers as well. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. A refill would have been nice. My second visit was ok. The cocktail was not the same, not as much cilantro and onions but oh well. My third visit was not great. It was busy, yes. It was a Sunday, yes .We got seated. There were only 2 of us. My sister ordered the Shrimp Cocktail, her first and I got a sope and 2 tacos. The waitress who took our order never returned. Although it was busy, there were other tables that came after us that were attended well. It was odd. We were given the sope and tacos by another waitress and the Shrimp cocktail was just sitting at the counter waiting to be retrieved. I could see it from my seat. I attempted to flag a waitress down to no avail. Our original waitress became a bartender and stayed with her 1 customer at the lil bar. She made eye contact while making a drink but she didn't notify her co-workers of our order or anything for that matter. She should not have seated us or taken our order iif she was going to ignore us. So poor and disappointing. We finally got a hold of someone about our food or I was going to get it myself. It was not a good experience. We paid at the register and we were asked how everything was. My sister answered "not good" she asked if she could fix anything. Um, well I wish I could start over is what I wanted to say, but nothing was said other than no. The tip reflected our service. I don't believe we will be returning. read more

Came here at opening on Saturday. The staff were as delightful as possible. She told us if we wanted the uchepos that we'd have to wait until they were delivered which we did and it was worth it. This is a hidden gem in San Jose! It's in an unassuming plaza. We ordered to go on Uber Eats and the order was ready to go when we got there - quick service. The inside was nicely decorated with lights and pretty cute. We ordered the michoacanas con pollo (red enchiladas with fried chicken) and the camarones mariachi (bacon wrapped shrimp filled with cheese and jalapeño). Both dishes were very large portions and also very delicious flavor wise. The enchiladas came with onions on the inside as well. We were very pleasantly surprised with our random Uber Eats find. We were seated and served immediately and greeted like family. The chips from a bag very noticeable but the in house salsa was delicioso! I ordered the shrimp ceviche .. Serving very plentiful. My family ordered the shrimp coctail !!! I have never seen so many shrimp in a serving!!! Just WOW!! The only bad part is that we did not see our server again to refill our water or to give us any silverware. We were visiting family at the local hospital and decided to step inside windows for a quick and light dinner. It almost seems as if the waitress that served us was put off by the fact that we only wanted water with our meal. We were pretty much ignored throughout the whole service my sister received her mail and my shrimp cocktail just stayed on top of the counter the cook behind the counter. He noticed that that cocktail was stained for quite a while. I almost made motion to go get it until my sister said no let's see how long it takes them. Several waitresses passed by my cocktail on the counter and not one of them stopped to think whose could it be whether you're short staffed or busy and several other patrons were served quicker and faster and more attentive than we were. I tried it to my sister that possibly they ignored us because we had water with our meal. We didn't want a beer and we didn't want any sweet beverage... we're still paying customers and other patrons were treated more respectfully than we were. I will not be returning to Callie. They want to use excuse that they were busy, but they were very selective and who they choose to treat better and who they were going to treat not so great. Stopped in for the Caldo de Rez soup and decided to try their 7 Seas seafood stew. It turned out to be a great choice! A very tasty broth loaded with seafood and vegetables. I have driven by this place and million times and finally came in. The food was fantastic. I got half order of the tacos dorados- 2 chicken and 1 potato. Came with a generous helping of cabbage, sliced tomato, radish, avocado & pickled jalapeño. The chips & salsa were good too. It's right across the way from Regional Hospital. My mom is hospitalized and the cafeteria is only open until 2pm. As it is walking distance, perfect place to take a quick break and have a nice meal. I'll be back tomorrow! read more

WELL IT WAS MY FIRST TIME THIER. Staff was nice. I expected my fajitas to be just steak and bell pepper onion but instead got chicken and shrimp and steak. I probly should ordered the carne asada plate. Then I thought it came with Spanish rice but it came with white rice and this was supposed to be a Mexican restaurant. Next time I'll read the menue more thoroughly So I spent 30 dollars on juke box and about 110 dollars on food and beer. They didn't want to swap out the rice with Spanish rice. Well the music was good and the beer. I'll just have to be careful about what I order next time.. it wasn't what I expected food wise. I'll give it another shot in the future. I'll probley order something more simple like chorizo and eggs platter with Spanish rice and beans. So my experience wasn't too bad I just didn't know what to expect by not reading the menue correctly. The fajitas was ok. I guess I was expecting chillis style. The location has very limited & restricted parking monitored by security so as not to park in competing restaurants spaces. The restaurant is wildly busy and service was awful. Waitresses are friendly but in such a rush, don't expect to easily get their attention. Once the order was taken we never saw our server again. We flagged down whoever was nearby to ask for refills and or utensils. Orders are painfully slow to make it to the table and are delivered by additional busing staff. Time for breakfast/lunch after an early Baseball game at Twin Creeks. We got here about 11:15am, right before the lunch crowd. Now, we come to Mendoza's about 3- 4 times a year if we can make it, mainly after a baseball game for lunch or dinner. This was our first time coming for breakfast. We were acknowledged right away and then seated. The soccer games were on the tv screens which my husband and son love, they had full staff service and were ready for the lunch rush. My husband ordered a sweet corn tamale and the "Huevos a la Mexicana" my son ordered "Chorizo and eggs" and I got what I mostly always get "Chicken Mole". Served with fresh made corn tortillas, flour tortillas too (not freshly made, but still good) Now the food is from Michoacán or Estilo Michoacán.every region of Mexico has their version of foods. The decor is bright and colorful, and the staff has always been nice and helpful. By the time we were done eating the restaurant was full on both sides and the staff was moving. On a lunch run in the area and stopped by to check out the menu. I had an idea of what I wanted but checked the menu anyways. The menu has a variety of options. I asked the waitress for recommendations on Enchiladas between Mole and red or green sauce and she said they were all a distinct flavor. I ended up ordering the Enchiladas Suizas Rojas with rice and beans to-go. While I waited I checked in on Yelp (because if you don't check-in were you really even there?) and a FREE Agua Fresca offer came up. (Smile ear to ear) I ordered an Horchata which came with an eco friendly paper straw (cool!). The Horchata was refreshing and not overly sweet as some places tend to make it. My enchiladas were delicious. A balance of flavors between the sauce, chicken, and tortilla. I dipped every bite into the beans and BOOM a burst of extra flavor. The enchiladas and beans went together really well. The rice was good. The service was good and my order was delicious. But it's not a very affordable, convenient, or fast lunch option at $17+ with tax for just enchiladas with beans and rice. read more

My first time here. We ordered the Birria Soup. It came with cilantro and onions to put on top. Also had a drink of Jamaica , it was amazing. The Birria is amazing , fresh, tasty, hot (temp) and I added that hot oil, which took away the real flavor of the soup. It was absolutely the best I ever had, so comforting, so authentic, it's so nice to have an authentic restaurant so close to our work. The service was exceptional. We also had these cheese sticks that I thought were mozzarella , but no, they were harder than that, not as melted as mozzarella, more firm , but so tasty, the dipping sauce was amazing as well.
