This is a happy hour review. Didn't dare try a real meal here. The food is cheep/low quality reheated Costco premade stuff. with a very high prices. The drinks unbalanced and lacking any taste of the spirits preported to be in them, all just premade syrups and ice . Servers are friendly but unhelpful. If you want to have a nice happy hour experience for the same price and tentimes the quality head to the elevator that goes to Empire on the 30th floor right around corner from this place. Menehune is a gem. It not exactly hidden because it is in the Ilikai Hotel, but many people head into Waikiki to do eat at tourist spots, and miss this great place. The food is well prepared and is NOT hotel food and NOT bar food. It's is REAL QUALITY restaurant food. I've had most everything on the menu but my favorite are the eggs Benedict. They are the best in Oahu. Also, the staff cares. Food was alright (smoke meat and kalua nachos). Beer was cold, bartender friendly UNTIL a British couple asked for their check and the bartender preceded to "tell" them about the tipping culture in America and why they needed to tip. It was so tacky and embarrassing. The British couple were FORCED to listen to him go on and on. He automatically assumed they weren't going to tip and totally looked like an a$$hole. I'm sorry if this is a duplicate of a previous review that I wrote, I don't think I saved it but felt compelled to write another. I don't normally write poor reviews but felt this was necessary. The ambience of many hoodie Grill is wonderful. It's a great spot to have breakfast lunch or dinner however, the service was horrible and the food even worse. We sat down and waited 20 minutes before the waitress even approached us to order our coffee or bring any water. It seemed that she was just too busy talking in the back with the other waitresses . We finally ordered an espresso martini and coffee which took another 20 minutes. I saw our drinks sitting at the end of the bar for quite some time and finally asked the bird whisperer if he could get our waitress so we could have our coffee and our drinks. We finally got our espresso martinis, but still no coffee we flagged the waitress down and asked if we could get a coffee and order our breakfast. She left to get the cups for our coffee and came back 20 minutes later. We ordered our breakfast which took another 20 25minutes to get Once the food came it was cold and of poor quality. There were four of us who had assorted items and kind of shared, but the eggs were cold. We asked for the bacon crispy. The bacon was not crispy. Three of us had a breakfast sandwich with bacon also requested crispy and one eggs Benedict. It took us almost 40 minutes to get our food. We got there at 10:45 and left their two hours later. It's so hard to believe that a beautiful restaurant like this would have such poor quality food and service. Don't think I'll ever return. read more

the eggs benedict muffin was tough to slice, the toasts were cold, the pancake wasn't moist, it seems that it was just sitting there. The server wasn't around to refill our coffee, I basically left my cup by the edge of the table so that they could see its empty, I had to ask for it to be refilled. The food was terrible. Both the steak and pancakes were overcooked, with the pancakes being extremely dry. I ordered a medium well steak, but what I received was tough and gray. The pork nachos were amazing--the pork was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The pork sliders were also fantastic. I was so excited to see Menehune Grille open and occupy the vacant space after Cinnamon's closed. I was not disappointed and got to enjoy their breakfast & lunch menu! The host was super friendly and we got seated quickly for lunch. Tried their loco moco and boy was it delicious; the patty was super juicy. Went another time for lunch and tried their Waimea Burger, it was soo huge. The burger was juicy like the loco moco and I could only finish half and was full until dinner time. I heated up the burger the next day & it was still juicy and delicious. Look forward to coming again to try more of their menu. read more

Our first visit was for breakfast. I thought it was slow due to the time. Everyone in my party wanted me to order , they didn't trust how slow it looked. I ordered the MC breakfast, 2 eggs, rice, bacon, etc. my son decides to order banana pancakes with coconut syrup. We were expecting to be blown away. Our waitress was nice but extremely ditsy and lack of any care as to how good she does her job. Nice enough. But no utensils, no napkins, even after she brought our food, I had to ask. Food was Luke warm like it had been sitting .Pancakes came with 5SLICES of banana and a cup of thick white stuff that looked like jizz.. I don't know why but we tried happy hour 2 days later. Never again, it's not worth my money, my health. Food is absolutely disgusting & it's no happy hour, just 2 dollar discount. Again, no utensils. Weird, felt like they want our money but just don't want us here.. very sad read more

I stopped by after a long flight and left planning my next visit. The burger? Hands down one of the best I've ever had. Juicy, and topped with all the right stuff. The fries were golden, crispy, and addictive. But what really made the experience unforgettable was Tessa, our waitress. Friendly, attentive, and full of great local tips, she made us feel right at home from the second we sat down. She had a charm that turns a good meal into a great memory. Barely anyone in the place yet they let you stand waiting to be seated...like avoiding eye contact. Ambiance is great and the guitarist/singer was amazing. Food (sorry for the blunt honesty) was below mid. Like bad bar food. And the service was no better. Ate here twice and had to ask for utensils and napkins both times... after the food arrived. Not to mentioned to watered down soy sauce and barely cooked edamame. First time here we had the banana pancakes with five small slices of banana on dry pancakes. We came here a few times inside ilikai hotel. We tried their breakfast once and it wasnt my favorite. Tried the avocado toast and loco moco but just wasnt something that fulfilled my appetite. On the other hand we had a few drinks at the bar that were great. A mai tai, a green blended version of a pina colada which was amazing, their lemongrass yellow drink with gin was my favorite.
