It gets a little congested when you are trying to order during lunch hours. This place is ran by a Korean family, they offer Korean plates like bibimbap, spicy chicken plates, and spicy chicken sandwiches. They also offer classic BBQ plates like chicken, hot links, brisket, etc. Ive only ordered the Korean food, and I really enjoy the Gochujang spicy chicken sandwich. The plate comes w a simple salad with a very good orange vinaigrette, the fresh orange really comes through. They pre-cook the chicken to help with the lunch crowd, or I'd bump them up to 4.5 Never tried the BBQ, might try some brisket and hot links next time and update this review. read more

This place is basically the midpoint between my office and my home, and I would often pass by and think "there's no way that place has excellent sandwiches, bee bim bap, and garlic fries. No way, not here." Well I took the plunge. I don't really like eating with people unless it's like maybe 1 person and we can talk without having to tip toe around things, but this day, I had the misfortune of being ask to get lunch by a bunch of coworkers. One of them had just gotten a new Tesla, so I said I'd go if I could go with them. Parking is 2/10. There are like 7 spots, they're all slanted the opposite direction they should be, and it's just a disaster. "Oh brother" is what I exclaim to myself (just kidding, this isn't an episode of Full House). So we get inside, I am crippled with analysis paralysis. They have like a million things on their menu, all basically just combinations of some meat + some side, but I'm frozen, so I panic order the bee bim bap. It's good. They have water cup freely out, and the whole vibe is chill, but almost borders on the side of "we hate our customers but they somehow keep coming back." I go again, this time I get the chicken sandwich +side salad+with garlic fries. The salad has straight orange juice for the dressing, but it's good. The meal blows my frickin socks off. I go a third time. This time, while I'm waiting, some other Silicon Valley tech bro comes in and gives all of us a bad name. Worst customer service I have ever experienced, I spoke to the owner when I first arrived and he just looked at me. So I proceeded to tell him my order I called in, he grabbed my order placed it on the counter, and rang it up through his phone with the apple pay credit card slider and then simply showed me the price. We were charged double the price of each plate "due to covid." My co workers asked me to go and I figure let's give it one last go around. The lady owner told me my bill was $19. When she was ringing me up, she said, "we'll just make it an even $20.... For taxes". Wtf?! My co worker said she did the same thing but was worse. He said his bill was supposed to be $17 but she charged him an even $20 as well. These people are crooks. They are extremely nice but can be rude as well. Their food isn't the greatest and it's overpriced. Yes, they've been a service to Menlo Park for a number of years but food and service are terrible. If you're looking for a quick KBBQ fix, in the Menlo area, this is probably your best bet. It's a small mom and pop shop and don't get confused as this is an extremely tiny place with limited seating inside (and a few tables outdoors). Everything is cooked already so no grilling on your own! Two item and three item combos are pretty pricey, $16 and $19 respectively. All the combos come with a side of rice and salad, and portions are just right for lunch. The short rib and bulgogi is always a sure bet, and I heard that they used to give out kimchi but not anymore. Lucky for us though, when we asked for kimchi, the owner was nice enough to provide our table with three sides of kimchi Short ribs is probably the best item on their menu, so don't make the mistake of not ordering that. ;) Parking can be difficult during the lunch hours even though they have a private parking lot, so street parking will have to do if you're unable to snag a spot. read more

I keep coming back here and being delighted, even though I originally came here to try American BBQ dishes they have listed on the menu but I still haven't tried them because I come late and they're sold out (which is always a good sign of quality, actually). The meat is so tender and juicy and flavorful - I'm just really impressed. It's a family run hole in the wall that seats just over a dozen people indoors and two dozen outside. The menu is a huge blackboard hanging on the wall. There is ample parking. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Then you realize you have to get your own cutlery. They don't offer you water but you can help yourself. So... Five stars for their food, lowered to an overall four for the self-serve model and the decades it's been since this place has seen a remodel on the interior. But again, I keep coming back. There are limited tables inside and there is counter seating as well as outdoor seating. It's a mom and pop place with the wife cooking and the man taking orders. It is small, off the beaten path, yet surprisingly flavorful and absolutely maintains the essence of Korean BBQ flavor. I really enjoy the no nonsense attitude this place emits. The ingredients are fresh, the BBQ is made to order, the service is friendly and the joint is rustic yet clean. I've visited Menlo BBQ a few times now and have tried something different every time... First was the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Not your typical chicken sandwich at all. Spicy, Tender and packed with flavor. The heat from the homemade chili sauce combined with a special mayo (kewpie esque) on a fresh ciabbata roll, accompanied by a lite citrusy green salad. Second was the Bulgogi Burger. Equally flavorful and tender. Great quality ingredients. Not over marinated like the typical Korean BBQ bulgogi with that vinegary tang. Sometimes keeping it simple and fresh really pays off. Third was the Spicy Pork Sandwich. Apparently the best seller here. Recommended by the gentleman behind the counter. This was very similar to the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Really enjoyed this one as well. Packed with flavor from the chili sauce, but the pork still shines through. All in all my experience has been incredible. Coming here for a late lunch has paid off and now I have found another eatery to add to my arsenal. Expect to pay between $7 - $12, but well worth it~! read more

I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this place. The extra star is for the service...they are really nice people but the portions and quality are really lacking. I posted some recent photos. This TINY container was $12!! They recently moved to a non-polyurethane container for to-go orders (due to city requirements). I get that they buy these containers and the portion needs to fit into that container but to carry over their expensive prices to smaller containers is a bit much. Two ribs (LA Galbi for those who know) cut into pieces and stuffed into a TON of rice and salad and kimchi. This should be a $7 order and not the $12 I paid. By the way, they have a sign that says you need to pay an extra dollar per order for the container. In total, you pay $13 for this tiny box and you're left wishing you went to Panda Express because at least you'd be full for half the cost. read more

This place is tucked in a corner on Willow, but it's right across from the willow gas station. They do have their own parking lot, which is great, one way in one way out. They have some seating outside, so we're not crammed inside. I ordered take out, I like the comfort of eating at home in small places like this. Got home and started chowing down, but of course I took pictures of the portions for you guys. The portion is not bad at all, but still maybe a $1 or $2 too much? I mean, I have had better KBBQ elsewhere. Flavor is okay, nothing special. I've made better KBBQ. The total with tax came out to be $18.50. That's kind of pricey for lunch. This restaurant sits randomly on the busy Willow Rd, in the middle of houses and a park. I missed it the first time I drove there but no matter, the food makes up for it. I usually come here for lunch and around 12pm it can get kind of busy. Closer to 12:30pm though, it clears up. It is a Korean fusion kind of place that caters to the more a more American audience it seems. Not in the sense that the food is average like "chinese" chow mein restaurants, but in the sense that the food is carefully made and presented and the service is fantastic. I usually get the bibimbap and I think I will continue to get it for awhile. The ingredients are cooked to order and fresh. You get purple rice with your bibimbap and a solid helping of vegetables and meat. Perfect for a weekday lunch. You can choose to sit inside or outside under the umbrella'd picnic benches and it really is a great place to relax a bit before going back into work.
