Two of my very favorite things is bulgogi and burgers. I had read reviews and when I saw they had a bulgogi burger, I knew I had to stop here, plus it's on my way home, so there was really no excuse not to. Did I also mention they have garlic fries? I mean, c'mon, that's like my perfect cheat day meal...and by cheat day, I mean everyday. A+ on the garlic fries. They were terrific. Everything garlic fries should be. Stopped by here for lunch to feed the Korean food craving. Not exactly what I expected from the decor and sign. I ordered the Korean beef burger (strip steak) not bulgogi burger since I'm a sucker for special sauces. This one promised a jalapeno aoli, which I could not seem to taste at all. I think the bun on the burger is chewy and of good quality, but to pay like 9 bucks for just a medium sized burger without the fixins' is kind of a downer. I like that it comes with a side of kimchee which actually did taste authentic as well as the meat in the burger. I don't know if it justifies the price tag of 9 something with no fries to boot but I gather it's the premium factor of Korean marinated meat. The garlic fries have a great crisp to them and are decent. I also tried the hickory bacon burger only to be disappointed by its size and ingredients. For 12 bucks the hickory bacon burger including the garlic fries and soda the burger is smaller than I expected. I also personally don't like condiments added for me (especially mustard) since I don't enjoy that on a burger. I really thought this place was cool but for what I paid it was just ok. The Korean couple who runs this are really friendly and nice so it's hard to give this place just 3 stars since it's more of a 3.5. Here I had a fun and refreshing lunch, not terribly well-priced - but not steep relative our venue's locale. I had the bibimbap. I incorrectly ate it dish-by-dish until the end, but was very happy with the individual veggies despite my mistake. The grilled pork, however, was not very helpful to my enjoyment. Despite my attacking the dish promptly after it was set in front of me, the pork was cooled before first bite. It was a dry and dispirited meat until the addition of bottled sauce. (But, one hardly expects otherwise if their KBBQ is grilled off-table.) Finally at the end of my bowl, I mixed the rice and bean-sprouts with my other remaining veggies, doused on about three ounces of Gochujang from the bottle, and stepped into saucy gluten heaven. Now experiencing my bibimbap correctly, I rolled my eyes up into their sockets and entered full scarf mode. This place has the best bibimbap with fried egg! It really is a pretty discreet place on Willow Rd and you can easily miss it. The parking lot isn't huge, but I haven't had a problem finding parking. There's outdoor and indoor seating and I like to grab outdoor seats for lunch on a nice day out. Get their bibimbap! It comes with purple rice, spicy chicken, and a lot of vegetables like spinach, bean sprouts, eggplant, cauliflower, etc. I'm sure they switch it up depending on the season. The other grill items on their menu looks good too, but I've always just stuck with the bibimbap. The prices are pretty decent for Menlo Park. After, I received a call that it will take about 15 minutes more for our food to be ready for pick up. I really didn't mind and thought it was really nice they had called. 4.5 stars (rounding up). In the limited context of what they're trying to accomplish, I think this is as good as it gets.. Came here a couple times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Had the chicken and pork, both over rice. There is a noticeable absence of any 'negatives'... i.e. it's clean, everything is neatly arranged, the meat is very well marinated, and suprisingly higher-quality (and not the commonly found fatty low-end stuff) that's cooked on a grill so it's not at all greasy. Good kimchi. The salad is more of an afterthought (smattering of lettuce and dressing), but the leaves are all green and cheery looking. Warning: This rating is based on me devouring the bulgogi burger and salad! Eat some questionably tasting food at the on-site cafeteria or try bbq? When bbq was suggested, I thought American ribs dripped in bbq sauce...I wasn't that excited. When I arrived inside Menlo BBQ, I was happily surprised to see bulgogi and an assortment of Korean food. The bulgogi burger caught my eye since I'm so used to eating it a la carte. I was in Lunch heaven when I finally opened my to-go container. The bulgogi was nicely grilled and had no fat on it (I didn't get those embarrassing pieces of fat stuck in my teeth throughout the meal), although I required many napkins to clean the sauce off my face (there was red sauce that was both spicy and sweet). To avoid a full on heart attack, there was salad on the side which tasted like a vinagrette with lemon. I agree with some other Yelpers in that this place is pretty pricey so it would be more of a treat than a regular joint for lunch. However, I will save up my pennies to treat myself to another bulgogi burger b/c I'm worth it and so are you =) read more

I am pretty disappointed with the quality of food i had tonight. I ordered two dishes to go: A two meat combo ($13) and a one meat combo ($8) and the meat portions were not as big as I would have liked. Yes, it does come with rice, salad, and kimchee but those were not that appetizing. I, personally prefer white rice but the rice is actually mixed with some sort of pea, which wouldn't be so bad but it really didn't taste great. The salad (only romaine lettuce with a strong orange zest/juice flavor) was not good and my boyfriend's salad had a HAIR in it. I have a photograph to prove it but i really don't want to put the place out of business, as i know accidents can happen. Overall, not a good value for a meal and mediocre food. I went here today for lunch for the first time. I took my gf here for lunch and I looked up yelp reviews and it said it was good. I was so amazed by how yummy this place was! We ordered the short ribs plate, which is essentially a japanese-style bento box lunch that consists of korean style bbq short ribs (YUM!), a green side salad in a mysteriously delicious dressing, a side of rice that seemed to be mixed in something like a bean maybe... but it was good! You also have your choice of kim chi or potatoe salad as another side. It was really good, and the price was not too bad for the meal, which was $14, so all in all with 2 fountain drinks and 2 short ribs plates, I paid less than $30. I also appreciated that despite the exterior looking a bit "run-down," the inside is quite cozy and very well kept. My husband and I were up in the Bay Area this week visiting family for the holidays. My sister suggested we try this BBQ place since I love meat (especially Korean BBQ!)... in summary, Menlo BBQ is really good! The restaurant is family owned/operated and has a certain charm to it. There are children's drawings on the walls... so there is a nice family atmosphere. I had a chance to chat with the owners as we ate. They are very friendly and helped add to our dining experience. Onto the food. We ordered the Korean Short Ribs BBQ plate, the American BBQ Ribs, Soup of the Day (Clam Chowder), and had fries/salad for the sides. The BBQ was really good. If I had to eat only one type of food the rest of my life, it would be Korean short ribs. I'm pretty picky about my short ribs. Menlo's short ribs did not disappoint. It was well marinated, delicious, and very tender. Beat's L&L by a landslide. The Korean side dishes (kimchi and soybeans) and purple rice were good too. I think the Korean food was very authentic Korean. The dry rub American ribs were also very tender and juicy. The salad was also pretty good. It had a light dressing and fresh greens. The clam chowder was really hearty and hit the spot on the rainy day that we went. My husband really liked the fries. A lot. He kept telling me how much he loved the fries. I left the restaurant completely stuffed. Very reasonably priced to be so full when I'm done. Good food. Good price. Good portions. What more can you ask for? Got the spicy pork sandwich. I didn't even know it was a yelp favorite (just discovered it after reading these reviews)...and yes it was so delicious! I never thought that "good presentation" of food could actually affect the dining pleasure, but the three slices of juicy, tender beef with even spreads of the sauce were so nicely stacked against the crisp piece of romaine lettuce, between two crunch ciabatta breads. And the salad, too! It was a very very simple salad of romaine lettuce with some sort of citrus sauce. I don't know what it is about the sauce but it was so simple yet delicious! I don't know what's in that sauce because I want to know and I want to reproduce the yummy sauce at home!! A very cozy small casual family-owned type restaurant with super friendly staff. The price is great and the food is surprisingly good. Menlo BBQ offers American BBQ, sandwiches, burgers, and Korean BBQ as well! The Korean BBQ plate is as low as $6.95 which comes with rice, kimchi and salad. What I love about their Korean BBQ is that it's tasty without being overly salty, plus it's tender and fresh. The $20 small family pack is an awesome deal (2 Korean BBQ plates and 2 hamburgers) but I haven't had a chance to try their burger yet. I am happy to find another decent lunch spot (without being $$$) near work. From now on we'll put Menlo BBQ in our lunch spot rotation! read more

Have to agree with Ron R. The portion for the short rib combo was a ripoff. I know this is Menlo Park but they totally skimp on the meat portion of the meal. The really disappointing part is that I was thinking about getting a sandwich since most people seem to enjoy those. Unfortunately the guy behind the counter said it'd take 30 minutes for a sandwich but the short rib combos were ready to go. You figure the guy is going to help you out and give you a dish that's just as good...nope. $12 for a short rib combo that was thinly sliced and overcooked. I might consider coming back here to try a sandwich, but the first experience has left me with little incentive to make any real effort to do so. read more

I was in the area with my son, so we stopped by for lunch. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I had the bbq chicken plate with a soda. $24! Really?!! Really?!! The portion size of the "bento box" was very small, but what really bugged me was the chicken. It could've actually been pretty good if it wasn't wayyyy overdone and burnt on most sides. Bleh. Thanks to fellow Yelpers, my attention immediately honed in on the bulgogi burger. Soft bread, scrumptious bulgogi, tomatoes, lettuce, nice condiments, and *drum roll please* pepper jack cheese!
