I ordered online takeout tonight after having a pleasant experience ordering in person takeout from them for lunch once on a weekday a couple months back. Their prices are super reasonable, but I now realize why. The quality of the fish in my rolls was subpar. The hamachi rolls had pieces of hamachi smushed together. I am used to ordering hamachi rolls that have one large chunk of fish with some green onions wrapped in rice, then wrapped in seaweed. I really did not enjoy my sushi rolls tonight. I did like their seaweed salad and miso soup. The inari nigiri was good too. Maguro nigiri was okay. The sushi ginger they have is good - I ordered extra for 50 cents. I wish the fish was more comparable to the first time I had it. Now I'm not sure if I would order again. They have a whole setup for to go orders. Small indoor seating area. Efficient staff.

    What is this???

I enjoy Sushi House and am a regular here and order several times a month, however my last takeout order has really put me off from ever ordering from here again. My first bite of the Spider Roll contained something very tough and chewy - almost like a sponge. The thought of eating sponge remnants is absolutely disgusting with all of the bacteria. How did this even get into the roll?? Maybe it was fried up with part of the soft shell crab? Either way it's unsettling and disappointing.

Two of my Go Tos done very well: Tekka Maki (maguro roll) and Natto maki (includes takuan inside). Calif roll for the little kids...

Remains one of my favorite local Japanese restaurants in the peninsula area. Plenty of outdoor seats and indoor also. It is located right next to the Palmetto superfoods (for acai bowls that are super good but pricey), Roost and Roast restaurant and Oren's Hummus. There are now FOUR FANTASTIC RESTAURANTS all located in the back corner of Town and Country Village shopping center! One thing that is rea great about Sushi House is they can do large orders for events--we have ordered from here, Noelani's in San Carlos and Takahashi Market in San Mateo. All have been close in price and produce a ton of very good food for parties.

A convenient location for sushi and bentos, Sushi House caters to the nearby high school and university by providing an optimal takeout experience. I've been twice now, both times ordering takeout. Both times featured good service, though I would say the food is not anything special, especially considering the price. That is not to diminish the quality, in which each item I received felt and tasted fresh - tricky perhaps in a bento with many different items. Anyways, it's worth coming back because of the convenience and the wide range of menu options.

Great taste and value on the combos meals. Service was incredible. Maybe because we were eating around the end of lunch hour, and there wasn't that many customers left. As soon as one of our kids dropped a spoon, they brought another right away! Cozy and clean inside.

The food here was all right, I wouldn't say that the sushi is super fresh, but it is edible, and I didn't have any stomach issues with it. The service is also just okay, nothing super special. The restaurant itself is not too big with an outside seating area. Not sure if I would come here again because it was a little bit overpriced with nothing super special.

It's a good place if you have the craving, but the food itself is mediocre. The service is nice but the ambiance is just a normal regular place to have a dinner, nothing too fancy or too fast food like. The sushi was just regular sushi but the bento box was good though!

Never disappoints ! Just went to Sushi House for lunch and ordered the Chicken teriyaki bento box and Saba fish bento box. Both were delicious and reasonable. Service was as always friendly and good ! Indoor and outdoor dining but it can get full quickly. Kid friendly and dog friendly (outside only). This is my second review and been eating here for over 25 years. Never disappointed !

The space is intimate, with only 8 counter seats, so you're served directly by chef Li. To my surprise, all of the seats were full on a Friday at lunch. I didn't want to drink too much at lunch, but they had a $29 sake flight of three 1.5 oz pours, which was just the right amount to pair with the sushi but still be able to go back to work after lunch! Pre sushi: 1. Pickled baby ginger: I love this stuff, and he was good about refilling it 2. Crab with Japanese citrus jelly and shiso: a generous amount of sweet, fresh crab 3. Ankimo: two pieces, served with wasabi 4. Signature octopus: massaged 1 hour and stewed 1 hour - very flavorful and tender 5. Steamed abalone: served over soba with abalone liver sauce 6. Seaweed shot 7. Chawanmushi with scallops and caviar Sushi: 1. Hokkaido scallop with yuzu and sea salt 2. Spanish mackerel 3. Akami: lean bluefin tuna 4. Kinmedai: golden eye snapper, torched 5. Isaki: 3 line grunt fish 6. Kelp cured black snapper, shiso leaf, yuzu 7. Chutoro 8. Saba: mackerel with kelp 9. Otoro: torched, topped with uni The scallop and kinmedai were the highlights for me. We also got one of the à la carte add ons: the hand chopped fatty tuna and uni hand roll. To finish: red miso soup At the end, you can watch the chef preparing the bento boxes, which was a good reminder for me to keep my eye out for the next available pickup. The fish was high quality, and the pieces were cut to the right size (I've been to way too many places with unappealingly large cuts). Each course was thoughtfully prepared, and pacing was consistent. For the quality and quantity of food, as well as the service and dining experience, this was a hot deal for $125 a person. We will definitely be coming back!

The service is nothing to write home about either. Their shop is small, and they staff only two waiters for the entire restaurant on a weekend afternoon. Those poor waiters were sprinting the entire time we were there. The food also took forever to make. Skewers had a 20-30-minute wait. The Sukiyaki hotpot entree took 40-50 minutes, and all they needed to do was slice the meat and arrange the veggies. We still had to cook the raw meat ourselves, mind you. I don't understand why it would take them 45 minutes to prep. Not being able to get a hold of the server to check on the status of our dish didn't help either, as they were busy zooming around because the restaurant was understaffed. Overall, there is a mismatch between the price they are charging and the overall experience we got. They either need to increase the portion or significantly increase the service to match the pricetag.

Decor is meh and it feels a little like you're eating in a cafeteria, but I get it - this is a restaurant in a college town, and college kids don't really care. I also don't care, as long as keeping the decor kind of ugly also keeps the prices kind of low. I always get the chirashi bowl here. It can sometimes be a bit inconsistent, but it's still delicious. Case in point, when I've come here with 4 people (which is the norm for me), the quantity of items in the bowl has been larger. I then came with just my dad, and there were noticeably fewer pieces of everything, and the quality was worse. It could've just been an off day, or maybe we came on a day just before their next delivery and they were short on everything, but that was pretty disappointing, since we were celebrating his 85th birthday and it felt very lackluster, especially after I'd told him how amazing this place was. Prices are good, service isn't overly friendly or helpful, but they get the job done and are fairly efficient. Absolutely HATE that they put lemon in the water. MJ, please stop doing this. Invest in a good water filter, and save yourself the expense of buying the lemons to cover up the taste of crappy tap water. There was a study that came out many years back that noted that something like 70% of lemon wedges in restaurants are contaminated with a whole host of microorganisms, many of which are either harmful (like e. coli) or just gross (like candida yeast *shudder*). I straight up will not drink the water here, which is a shame, since I like to stay hydrated while eating a meal. This is my new go-to place for well-priced sushi, so I'm hoping that they continue to stay consistent because I really don't want to have to go searching for another spot to replace them if prices start going up or quality starts going down.
