I ordered delivery from here while on a business trip to the Peekskill area. I was definitely impressed! My food arrived well ahead of schedule and was packed nicely to avoid spills. I had ordered the 1/2 chicken dinner, and was not disappointed. The chicken was cooked perfectly - juicy and flavorful. The accompanying rice and beans were also tasty! If you want tacos, Azteca is OK. But their other food is not prepared so well. Recently we ordered from them and I have to say that the food was really over cooked. One dish they seem to get very well is enchiladas de mole. The staff is very friendly. But I don't think this is high-quality food. It is fast food. I am so mad I am just discovering this gem! I kept seeing ads on Facebook so I decided to finally order. WOW! We started with guac and chips and asked for it spicy, you could see the giant chunks of jalapeño which was well appreciated. We tried four different tacos: steak shrimp chicken and tilapia. Our favorite was the chicken but all were delicious once you added the sauces lime and guacamole to them! Lastly, since we ordered online we received a free order of 6 churros. They were delicious! We added ice cream and chocolate sauce once we got home - so good!!! Our order was ready and fresh when we arrived and we were greeted by a very friendly counter girl. Terrible experience with this deli. I placed 3 separate orders for pick-up. First order was 2 tacos. Second order was 3 tacos and the third was 3 tacos a total of 8 tacos. After picking them up we realized that we only got 7 tacos but got charged for the 8. So I called to let them know that I only got 7. After explaining to the girl who took my order that I only got 7 but paid for 8 she put the cook on the phone to reassure me that they gave me the 8 tacos. The cook got defensive saying that they charged me for the 8 tacos and that that was what I got. I wasn't even asking to get the taco but the fact that they didn't apologize for the mistake and offered a solution but instead got defensive really is upsetting. My advice is that if you're ordering from here just check that you have all items before you leave the place. read more

Those who are looking for a place to take the family for a sit down Mexican meal, this is not the place. It is a no frills convenience store that happens to have small food counter. Meanwhile, the food that they serve here is really good. You can expect to find some awesome tacos, quesadillas, tamales and some other things. It is tucked into a corner of a small plaza, so it is somewhat set back from the main drag and might be easy to miss if you have not been here before. Saw the reviews on Yelp and had to check this place out for myself. The place is tucked away in a little shopping strip off the main road. The deli has a seating area in the back. We tried the cemita with carne enchilada and the carnitas tacos. Also had an horchata. The food was freshly made and perfectly seasoned. Portions were decent and prices very reasonable. The horchata came in a huge cup and was delicious. Staff were friendly. Don't be turned off by the decor- the food is worth it! We were looking for a place that offers delivery and this popped up on Yelp with a very good rating. We checked the menu and were pleased with the selection. We ordered cactus salad, shrimp & steak fajitas, and a grande burrito. Online ordering worked well (Yelp and Grubhub) and our order went in with no problems. We received a call from the driver about 25 minutes later (which we requested since our building door is locked). The food arrived hot and fresh, and exactly what we requested. The delivery person was polite and came to the door of the building. Food was generous in portions and tasted great. Nothing overcooked or dry. Sauces were fresh. Rice and beans also fresh and hot. I was passing through and just stopped here to grab some quick food before a long drive home. Wasn't expecting anything amazing, but what I got was amazing. Put my order thru the Eat24 app. When I got to the place, I accidentally walked in through the back. There were a bunch of guys back there seemingly having a great time while chopping vegetables and mixing fresh ingredients. My veggie enchilada was AMAZING. Perfect combination of flavors and textures. Just the right amount of spicy, and it came with a heaping portion of excellently seasoned rice & beans on the side. I also ordered a veggie taco which I haven't eaten yet because I'm stuffed--just the enchilada was enough food for me, and I usually eat enough for 2 people. You get a lot for your money here. I came in for the first time last night and I'm so glad I did. I had the tinga quesadilla and got two jalapeno and cheese tamales, all to go, although they do have a few tables available to enjoy your food. My quesadillas (3 to an order) were made fresh and were delicious, albeit messy. They had a slight spicy heat to them which made you keep wanting to eat more, even though I was beyond full. It was served with a spicy(ish) red sauce in a container on the side, but I'm not sure what it was. It also came with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato and sour cream. I can't wait to come back and try some of the other tasty sounding items. The tortas and huaraches caseros also appeared to be popular items based on the delivery orders that were being put together as well as the patrons who were eating at the tables. I'm usually very leery of these type os "authentic" hole in the walls as they can be a little too lax in the sanitation department. However Mercado Azteca straight up delievered in the food category. I had the tacos carnitas for lunch (delicious) and was so impressed I went back the following day to grab a torta cubana for dinner (incredible). Azteca is really one of Peekskill's hidden gems, and we must have gone once a week for the last six months, although loved it for some years. The tacos are amazing and an excuse for their fresh pico de gallo, and the guacamole non-parallel, and the prepared food changes daily with different Mexican pork, chicken and beef, not the same. The chicken soup is delicious and I've give it to my mother when ailing and she swears it has medicinal qualities. I just had the carrot cake from the deli case for my birthday, and he said they buy these individual desserts. Delicious!
