My favorite restaurant in West Van, as a 10+ year resident. It really reminds you of grandma's cooking, for lack of a better description. Everything is hearty and fresh, and made from scratch. My brother worked here all throughout high school, and I was able to hear stories of the work that goes into baking the bread, marinating the chicken for the divine charbroiled chicken sandwich, and making the jam. The customer service is always friendly and prompt, and it makes me happy to walk through its doors in the morning.

Such a lovely brunch place! We came here on a Saturday after hiking. The atmosphere is so relaxing and down to earth. Food tasted great. We enjoyed the Irish soda bread (crunchy and sweet), turkey sausage, and potatoes. Loved the quirky signs and the lovely paintings they have on the walls. If I lived close by, I'd come here every week.

A very pleasant coffee/brunch/sandwich shop frequented by locals in Dundarave. Sandwich here is very good and well priced by West Van standards. My wife has been going here for years and it was the first time I joined her. Today I tried the charbroiled chicken breast hot sandwich and HTLC hot sandwich. The grilled chicken sandwich was excellent. All ingredients were very good and they used just the right amount of sauce to not overpower the flavor of grilled chicken. Coffee was average as their focus is more on food than as a coffee shop. Coffee was choice of dark roast or regular. Overall a great place to grab a quick lunch or weekend brunch.

I have an appreciation for casual counter service sandwich spots with decent amounts of seating, and The Bakehouse fulfills just that. In this upmarket neighborhood, it's nice to know that you can get a sizeable sandwich, served up with fresh house made bread, for around $10. I tried the charbroiled chicken breast on herbed focaccia with almond pesto, cucumber, and swiss. Note that even though the sandwich was listed under the "hot" selections, it wasn't served panini style (no toasted bread or melted cheese). No matter, as in its current form it was still a tasty and satisfying combination of ingredients. The space has an open air kitchen with pleasant wooden furnishings and copies of the day's local papers scattered around for perusing. My one suggestion is that they do a deep clean of the floors--the collection of dust and detritus under some of the serving cases, etc, is a bit of an eyesore, and not indicative of the quality wares that they seem to serve. Also to note, they close at 4:00pm every day, so this is not an evening-style cafe.

Beautifully quaint :) I don't hail from West Van but if I did, Dundarave Bakeshop is where I'd hang out. Great selection of FRESHLY baked goods. The scones (in my opinion) are to die for. Easy street parking. A little pricy.... $13 for 4 scones. Great berry pies

I had a lovely brunch here over the weekend in charming Dundarave. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, so lines go rather quickly. The food was comforting and delicious - a lovely Benny and breakfast sandwich. Everything tasted really fresh and homemade, and portions were huge. There appears to be a bunch of baked good as well, but two mains between two people was enough food. The servers were really nice and helpful.

TL:dr Lovely little place with delicious breads (duh) and nice staff Recommending the charboiled chicken sandwhich and chicken pot pie but not the cinnamon roll Randomly stopped here on the way to Squamish. Wasn't expexting much but man was I pleasantly surprised. Someone complained about the cramped nature and while not terribly busy I could see that being a disadvantage to some people. I don't think that should dissuade you. Perhaps takeout? Four of us had The charboiled chicken breast (sandwhich) +cinnamon roll Chicken pot pie + Nanaimo bar Half tuna salad sandwhich +chicekn mully soup Peachy keen pie with ice cream + chicken mully soup + cheese scone Ok pros A pie veteran (southern us) said this is one of the best pies they've had. It was moist soft flaky The pot pie is the best I've ever had The charboiled is delicious. The almond pesto is top notch The staff were fun and nice And i like the feel of the place And of course being a bakery the bread was all good The only con is my cinnamon roll left something to be desired.

Oh, how I miss the Edgemont Bakehouse. Best staff, better menu, great location. My family visited the Dundarave location this morning because my husband really enjoys their food, and honestly I might have to divorce him for liking this place. Pros: cashier was really sweet, bread was really good, very kid-friendly, clean bathrooms. Cons: dirty tables, kitchen staff did not look like they were in any rush to get orders out while they stood around laughing, food was SO BORING. The vegan veggie sandwich I ordered was in dire need of seasoning. It was anemic with the sparse shreds of carrot, sad, mealy tomato, little bit of spring mix, too much onion, and the unseasoned excuse for guacamole that lathered the inside of the focaccia. I've tried my best to like this cafe, but I just cannot spend my money on their overpriced, poorly done food or their expensive rent. There are plenty of better places to eat across the North Shore.

Extremely busy and popular spot in dundarave. We stopped by for s quick bite. Kids had Mac and cheese and eggs and toast and my wife had the veggies sandwich with their potato and leek soup which was also a big hit with my son. The veggie sandwich was awesome with pesto sauce. Likely a 1000 calories though.

One of the better places in Dundarave for lunch. Everyday day has a different lunch special. The salmon quiche with salad is fabulous.

They were showing each other the flavors, and shapes, and designs. Sweet plus savory. Cutting them in half and sharing. It was the least we could do to bring these high quality goodies, made by high quality bakers, to these high quality nurses in the cardiac unit for my mother-in-law. We were so impressed with the staff at L'atelier. They know their stuff and their recommendations are top notch. The bakery itself is so cute and modern and fun. I loved that you could sit outside even in the rain because they have stellar permanent awnings.

Unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. The interior was overly moist, the caramelized crust lacked the crispness I was hoping for, and the honeycomb structure wasn't very well developed. Overall, it was just average. We also ordered the Strawberry Pistachio Tart. The strawberries were fresh with a nice balance of sweetness, and there was a good amount of pistachio chunks. However, it lacked the layers of flavor that make a tart memorable. On the bright side, the coffee was excellent and easily my favorite part of the visit. I'd happily come back for a coffee, but I'd probably try different pastries next time.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.
