No words.. other than Excellent. My partner and I went to Meridian and we absolutely loved it- a true gem in Dallas. Tim, who served us through the night was also wonderful, and made our night at Meridian something we will always remember! Appetizer - Brazilian Cheese Fritter and Sesame Garlic Pancake: amazing. Highly recommend both. Small Plate - calabresa sausage: also excellent. A bit heavy on the black beans but this is definitely just a preference. Pasta - Agnolotti del Plin: my partner and I have had the privilege of trying several Michelin Star Restaurants across the US, and this pasta is up there as far as one of the best we have ever had. Main - Rosewood Wagyu Picanha: Delicious, and the fried potato that came with it was a nice pairing. Side - Miyatake Mushroom: Loved this, the onion subise that came with the mushrooms made this a wonderful side dish. The pancetta brings it all together. Dessert - Brigadeiro Cake and Yucca & Coconut cake: the Brigadeiro cake is an absolute must have at Meridian. If you are a chocolate fan, I can confirm that this will be one of the best things you have ever eaten. The Coconut cake was good, but just a tad bit dry. The lime ganache helped, but just wish the cake was a bit more moist. Definitely pair both of these with a dessert wine. My husband and I have been hearing about Meridian for over a year at this point, so we were happy to finally be able to visit and try out their take on Brazilian cuisine last month. We arrived early enough in the afternoon for me to take advantage of the happy hour drink deals, and I got to try the tiki batida drink that was very coconut-y and creamy. Super refreshing on a hot August day! Our server recommended a few items from each section of the menu, so we began with the tapioca cheese fritters and the beef tartare. Both were definitely winners in our book; the fritters were my husband's favorite and had such an interesting crisp on the outside and chew on the inside. I loved the beef tartare a ton -- so garlicky in flavor and the shiso leaf wrapped around it was a great herby offset to the richness of the filling. We then moved on to the heavier appetizers; our selections were the heirloom tomatoes and the fluke tartare. Loved the flavors in both dishes; the tomatoes were super bright and paired super well with the whipped cheese below, and the fluke tartare was super fresh. We did wish that there was something crispy to eat the fluke tartare with, maybe some kind of crostini, but it was still delicious on its own. For our mains, we selected the grouper moqueca, which came with some fluffy white rice, and ricotta gnudi. The grouper was perfectly cooked, succulent and flaky, and the curry-like sauce that it came in was so delicious with the white rice. The gnudi wasn't too heavy or dense, but was instead light and fluffy, and really soaked up the rich sauce that it came in. Both winners! We ended with two desserts: the guava and pineapple cheesecake, and the house yucca and coconut cake, which our server explained was Chef Borges' grandmother's recipe. Both were delightful ends to our meal, especially the yucca and coconut cake which was super light and very tasty, and we were stuffed to the gills by the time we were finished. I went with my parents recently and we were overjoyed with the incredible service, unique cocktails and delicious food. We were there in the evening, and the dim lights gave a swanky yet welcoming vibe. We really enjoyed our meal and I WILL for sure be back! Here is what we ordered and our ratings: - Uca gnocchi (8/10) - Daily bread (9/10) - Sakura Pork "Au Poivre" (9/10) - Sgt. Pepper Goes to Jalisco (10/10) - Kohlrabi caesar (10/10) - Short rib (10/10) I'll never forget the caesar salad which was anything but traditional. The flavors were out of this world, but it still had the familiar cool crunch of a caesar salad. The short rib was also outstanding - one of the best pieces of beef I had in a long time. It was a Tuesday evening dinner with a few friends. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly service. The decor is very intimate and inviting and we immediately felt comfortable. I love that the menu is simple and uncomplicated. We chose several starter dishes and entrees. I was so invested in the food I forgot to take photos. Silly me! For appetizers we had the daily bread (great sides for dipping! there was a nori butter and a spicy tomato sauce we really liked), beef tartare (a little too truffley), and Brazilian cheese fritters (great sauce!). I ordered cured halibut, which was very good and well-balanced. All of the dishes in the middle of the menu are of course light dishes. The friend I was with had the crab ravioli, which was very rich and pretty good, but didn't compare to the halibut! Finally we had the red grouper, which came in a great sauce that tastes like Thai red curry. I don't think plantains really fit with the dish, though. All in all it was just good. To drink I had the yuzu lager and my friend had a delicious cocktail I cannot recommend enough: The Belle. It was just amazing. I wish I knew the measurements to make it at home! The service was great, my water was constantly filled (I mean I wouldn't be even halfway through and I'd get topped up!) and they explained every dish as they came. I might even go as far as saying they were a little too attentive. It's beautiful inside, but a little bit loud. We were there on a Tuesday night with not many people, so it wasn't unbearable, but the music could come down a notch. I can't imagine how weekends must be! read more

From start to finish, this experience was phenomenal. START: The hostess informed us that we could sit at the very first booth next to the entrance immediately, or we could wait a bit for a table further into the restaurant. It still wasn't in the main dining area (just on the bar side), but it was a much nicer spot without people constantly standing behind us checking in, so we really appreciated that she gave us the choice. Most places would just seat you and be done with it. BAR: We sat at the bar while waiting for a table to open up (yes, we had a reservation; see above). The bar menu isn't on their website, and no Yelpers have posted a photo of it yet, so I'm blanking on what I ordered, but it was nice. Clearly not super memorable, but nice. The bartender was very friendly. DINNER: I was disappointed that the daily bread was not the amazing, swirly, laminated loaf that I'd seen in photos...apparently "daily" does in fact mean daily. We instead started with the caviar (listed as "sesame garlic pancake," but look closely), which was a fantastic start, and the beef tartare, which also was delicious. We passed on the "small plates" and went straight to share a pasta dish. They all sounded so good it was SO hard to choose, but ultimately the porcini malfadine won out and was phenomenal. They make all pastas in-house. We were advised to then share a "large plate" but couldn't decide so ordered two...the wagyu picanha, of course, and the berbere rubbed lamb loin. Lemme tell ya, that lamb loin...with brown butter carrots, thai basil, and almond dukkah...it was MIND-blowing. I've never had lamb flavored like that, and it was the BEST thing I've eaten in...a long, long time. We both felt the same way and in fact barely had any interest in the picanha as a result, haha. DESSERT: The brigadeiro cake is a MUST, and I'm not even a huge chocolate cake fan. There's caramelized milk (South American style) and mousse and all sorts of amazing flavors, plus a fantastic crunch of chocolate candies coating it. The waitress encouraged us to try it paired with some sort of fresh milk (? that's not right, but I can't recall) ice cream, but I could have passed on the ice cream. Never pass on the port, though...mmmm so nice. AMBIANCE: You'd never know you're in the middle of an apartment complex's mini business/restaurant development. Beautiful decor, thoughtful service, and fabulous people-watching (especially the first date happening at the bar across from us that we got to enjoy...oh boy it was something). Walking to the restroom from the bar side is a little awkward because you basically walk right through the kitchen service area, but that's also kinda cool? The restrooms are lovely. Everything is lovely. Kudos to Chef Borges...he has earned every accolade. It's also incredible to hear his story (he started as a porter in New York not speaking any English, then gradually got into the restaurant world and worked his way up). Esthetically beautiful is Meridian. Cozy corner banquettes for two. Throughout the evening, thrilling it was to watch Executive Chef Junior Borges meticulously expediting and adding special final touches to each and every plate. Pleasing to sight, flavorful in taste, and, with heavenly scents was this evening's dinner. Wonderful course by course portions to be shared at the table. Truly memorable were their Daily Bread, Blue Prawn Moqueca, and, Vanilla Bean Flan. Applause, applause also to the impeccable service received. Every aspect of the evening was so lovely managed. We visited Meridian this past week and immediately loved the clean aesthetic and relaxing ambiance inside. We were seated with a great view of the full working kitchen and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately upon arrival, we were told the chef's tasting menu we originally booked for was unavailable due to the recent departure of their executive chef. We ordered the beef tartare, tuna crudo, sea scallops, roasted duck and beef short rib. The tartare and the tuna crudo were delicious. The scallops were slightly undercooked but had a good coconut flavor. Unfortunately, the duck was too rare for me but I asked the staff if they could try for a more medium rare cook and they were very accommodating. Although, I still did not enjoy the duck, it tasted overly like iron and was quite bitter. The short rib was decent, lacking flavor. The staff was very kind and the food preparation was good overall, but I think flavors were lacking. I am looking forward to trying again once a new executive chef is settled! read more

The ambiance of this place is great and definitely gets lively as the evening goes on. Definitely make a reservation. We came a bit before 6 to be able to partake in their happy hour except no one wanted to tell us it was happy hour or share the menu. Then once I asked for the menu, we noticed items on the happy hour were not priced as happy hour as they were the same price as on the main dinner menu. This baffles me a bit and when asked about it, it was just shrugged off. We started off with the oysters and the cheese on a stick. Both were delicious and I highly recommend them. I've never had anything like the cheese on the stick here and the glaze on it is scrumptious. In the middle of appetizer and dinner, we also tried the fluke tartare which was described as somewhat of a ceviche. This was really good as well. For the entrees, I tried the prawns and my friend tried the picanha. Both were great! In the end, we tried the yuca and coconut cake which we expected as a cake slice and not bite size pieces. It was worth a try. We also ended up getting the flan which was good. I would ideally give this a 3.5 if I could because they had the most subtle ways of rushing you during the dining experience. At one point, our wine glasses were being picked up while we still had a half a bottle left. We also were given the check as soon as the yuca and coconut cake came out which was odd. The option of ordering something more to drink or even another dessert (which we ended up doing after having to wave them down) was being implied as a no go. We had to wave someone down because once the check was at our table, no one bothered to pay attention to us since no credit card was placed down in the tray. However, compliments to the chef for making delicious food and having great presentation. With this in mind, I had to round this to a 4 star review as 3 would not be fair to the chef. read more

Atmosphere: 5/5 - cute, sleek, modern decor and the entire building is basically glass. Great vibe. Food: 4/5 - we had the oysters, scallops, crispy rice, garganelli, and espresso panna cotta. Drinks: 4/5 - wine list was decent and the house cocktails looked great and well crafted as well. Service: 3/5 - it started off strong as the bar but as the evening picked up, we somewhat transitioned who was helping us and one of our orders was forgotten. Delicious fine dining without the pretentiousness in the heart of the Village! I feel like everyone has at one point or another in their Dallas journey lived in the Village. The old country club was an almost wasted perk as it was very dated and not exactly a spot to hang out at. Boy has that changed. The completely redone Village country club area rivals the hotest spots in uptown. Great restaurants, bars, a gym, and who knows what else! We are at meridian on a Friday night and even though we arrived early for our reservation, we were promptly seated. We started with cocktails but the highlight of the intro to Meridian was that they have sparkling water on tap!!! Why don't more places do this? It just makes me so happy and reminds me of all the European spots where the bubbles flow freely (pun intended). Cocktails themselves were all delicious it the glassware was the highlight. Every cocktail had a carefully selected glass that was just amazing! Even the water glasses were super chic. I got the untitled cocktail and it was a great take on a pisco sour with a big rock! Delicious. We also got several apps. They were all super tasty. I particularly enjoyed the beach cheese. Reminded me of the flaming cheese dish you can get at some Greek spots. The crudo is also not to be missed. The pastas were also tasty. We got the gnocchi and the rock shrimp ones and they had amazing texture and flavor. We also got a few big plates to share: the picanha, the prawns, and the pork. All were super tasty. I had to get dessert - obvi!!! The chocolate cake was Ana asking mouse concoction. They changed chief in Dec. 2022, and it turns out disaster!! Change #1: they remove 90% dishes from previous menu. Change #2: they started a new menu with $75 per person, 4 courses in total including appetizers + course 1 + course 2 + dessert. there are 3 options you can choose.le for each for each course. Obviously the restaurant uses this way to save cost and make the operation way easier than before, but the price is even higher. Here is what I got with paying $75 -- #appetizers: 2 pieces of Ora King Salmon, tasted good. #Course 1- I ordered short rib and served me 2 dumplings with beef as filling. THIS IS A SCAM!!! #Course 2 -- I ordered blue prawn, and they served me 2 prawns. The ridiculous thing is we have 3 ppl order blue prawn but only 2 pieces of sauce were served, which means 2 ppl were sharing one sauce. #Dessert -- I ordered Pavlovas, tasted not good at all. Initially my steak was cooked very wrong, it was basically rare so that I wasn't a fan of. But the staff was attentive and made sure that it was cooked correctly the second time around and it was. We ordered the following: Crab cake Beef tartare Fish tartare Wagyu Chocolate dessert Condensed milk ice cream Crab cake was not your typical crab cake. This was beautiful and light and full of flavors from the radish, thin tomatoes slices, and the tapioca balls, the textures in this dish was so fun and tasty! Would definitely order 30 more next time! Beef tartare was a great bite! Usually comes with 3 but we added another. The perilla leaves gave the acidic beef tartare another level of flavor. For those who haven't had this leaf, its as vibrant as mint leaves but has its own flavor. Fish tartare was my boyfriends favorite! It tasted like a ceviche but smaller pieces and not crunchy! Super refreshing and you just wanna lick that bowl clean! Wagyu was good but i wish it didn't have much of a smell. We requested medium but got medium rare. I liked the flavors but the meat tasted smelly. If that makes any sense Lastly, dessert! So many layers of sweetness, but again, textures played a role here. Creamy, crunchy, bitter, sweet! One of my fave restaurants in the Village! Always great customer service from the moment you come through the door. Reservations go quickly here and it's easy to see why once you try the food. I'm a big fan of curated menus that aren't overwhelming and they certainly foot the bill. My waiter gave me great food and drink recommendations from the start and the coursing time was great. I got to meet the new General Manager as well and he is a sweetheart! He gave me his recommendation as well and was very hospitable and attentive to my needs. We read the reviews and booked a birthday dinner with optimism even though they're had been some harsh reviews. We were greeted warmly and sat quickly. The booths are comfortable but we were sat really close to another couple. At 6pm the sun was shining in our eyes. I was surprised at the price range of a restaurant they didn't have sun shades for the tables. Douglas was our server and he was very friendly. We chose to try the four course meal and I ordered the recommended wines. The music was quite eclectic from rave, 70's, 80's, all American music and so on. For us, it took away from the ambiance of a Brazilian restaurant. The bread was good. The paired wines were great. Neither one of us cared for the sauce on the steak tartare. We spilled a little on the table and in other restaurants of this price range typically there is someone who cleans off the table when they pick up the plates and switch to the next plate. Not here ...... The raw snapper was ok. My favorite of the evening was the ground duck with pasta. I didn't care for the pickled rhubarb. The lobster ravioli was ok but we hoped it would knock our socks off. The wagyu was good but again not amazing. The desserts were ok but again for the price of the meal being $244, you do expect to absolutely LoVE more of the meal. My biggest upset was seeing kitchen staff on their phones and not washing their hands and going right back to cooking and preparing the dishes. I was really shocked and taken back that he ate a piece of celery or vegetable and so casual about it. I was not expecting that. I got photos too because I was so shocked and he kept getting on his phone. And not washing his hands! It is an expensive casual gourmet restaurant where they allow chefs to text on their phones and not wash hands after.... This restaurant has so much potential but missed the mark for us at a high price! We made the best of the experience and enjoyed our time regardless. Would I return? Sorry, probably not.... The beef tartare was the best dish - we eventually placed two orders of it. The green tomato relish in the sea scallop dish was extremely refreshing. The jumbo prawn had a nice kick to it, I was surprised by the texture the rice cake offered. The butter for the bread was great but our bread was served a bit too late. I actually enjoyed the crispy potato and the collard greens more than the wagyu steak itself. Deserts - amazing, I'm usually not a fan of coconut flavored food but these yucca coconut cakes just tasted like your light and fresh coconut water. Best food we have had in a long time. Maybe even the best in the metroplex. The Chef's have masterfully paired flavors in each dish and cocktail. The Wagyu Picanha, Sesame Garlic Pancake, and fried potatoes are a must try. However, it all exceeded expectations! Our favorite cocktails were the Redeemer and the Killers Vanilla. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, it is a wonder! The design is so elegant and fun, and it sets up a nice ambiance. We came for the Valentine's Day dinner special, and it did not disappoint! The wine here is phenomenal, and they had a wine sommelier share some details about the wine. I would definitely recommend adding this to complement your dinner. For the food: The octopus was fried but felt light and had the perfect crunch. The lamb was incredibly tender. The sides were good but not particularly memorable. Overall, I enjoyed the food but found the price point a bit steep for the dishes that weren't quite as extraordinary as the rest of the restaurant. Additionally, just a small point, but the table wasn't big enough for the entrees! Even though the courses were served one at a time, there was difficulty with having enough space for each of the courses! It made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal as we were cramped. I came here to finally try this place, after reading several articles about both this restaurant and chef. I was not disappointed. From start to finish, this place is magical. We let chef Junior Borges pick our meal for us. I knew that no one knows better what we should have, than the chef himself. Junior came out and checked on us a few times and he is so friendly and approachable. He has clearly put his heart into this place. I wish I could tell you what all I had, but I'm fairly certain some was off menu. They chose our appetizer to our drinks, and it all flowed in perfect harmony. Even the bartender is a chef of drinks. I let them chose a dessert drink for me, as well, and it blew our minds, just as the food did. All I can say is go. Try the food. Go again, and try more. Maybe divorce your spouse and marry your meal there. Not really. But it's that good. We will be coming back again and again. The entire staff seems like they were selected from the best of the best. Meridian is ok, but doesn't quite measure out to what it clearly hopes to be from a culinary perspective. I can see why many other Dallasites would think it's a 5-star experience; there aren't many restaurants this aspirational in the Metroplex. This said, I seriously doubt it would last very long in a "major league" gastronomic environment such as NYC, Paris, Tokyo, or even Los Angeles. Service was very slow to start out but then stabilized after the first course. Summary of the food itself: ORA KING SALMON - Interesting corn flour and garlic sauce with straightforward salmon sashimi. Not bad, but also not exceptional. 4/5 MEZZALUNA - Short rib was tender and the pasta was perfectly cooked but the dish was borderline destroyed by WAY too much acidity in the sauce. 3/5 BLUE PRAWN MOQUECA - Extremely fresh prawns but same exact problem as the Mezzaluna -- the acidic properties of the broth simply overwhelmed the other flavors. It just wasn't a well-balanced flavor profile at all. 3/5 BRIGADIERO - Very good, especially the texture, but could have been a little more dark-chocolate intensive. A touch of something like a yuzu or raspberry coulis would also have also gone a very long way. 4/5 DECAF AMERICANO - Criminally awful. Like to the point of whoever thinks this is an acceptable beverage to serve in any restaurant ought to be terminated immediately. 0/5 All things considered, Meridian is not terrible and I'd probably have given more like a 4/5 overall had the service been a bit smarter kicking off. I think the chef might improve by doing a whole lot less with acids (maybe leave all that wine vinegar to Daniel Boulud) and letting the qualities of really excellent ingredients speak a little more for themselves. In its current form I'd return to Meridian, but probably only if a close friend really wanted to go. read more

I came here with a few friends while on a girls' trip in Dallas, and our meal at Meridian was amazing!! To begin with, their service is spectacular! I can't remember our server's name, but he was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was very thorough with providing his thoughts on each dish. He even brought us complimentary grilled "beach cheese" on a stick. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely as well--it's very picturesque and upscale feeling. Yelp describes Meridian as "Brazilian" but I think it leans more towards New American. For drinks, we each got an espresso martini which was divine and we tried 2 bottles of wine--can't remember which but the selection is good. Last note, the portions are quite small and the prices lean towards the higher side. For food, we tried: - Grilled "beach cheese" on a stick ($6/ea): This was on the house, which was a nice treat! But would I recommend somebody else pay $6 for 1 cheese stick? Probably not... This wasn't a bad dish, but nothing was amazing about it. - Charred maitake mushroom: DELISH! If I remember correctly, there's a thin layer of fat? draped on top of it. The texture and seasoning of the mushrooms are absolutely divine. A must-try for sure! - Red crab toast ($16): Like the grilled beach cheese dish, nothing was spectacular about this toast. My group found it bland and we recommend skipping this dish. Not to mention, the portion of this toast was quite small. - Squid ink uni bucatini ($29): This uni pasta dish was great! I can confidently say it's one of the best uni pasta's I've tried. - Heirloom tomato agnolotti ($23): This dish has mixed reviews from my group. They pour clear, tomato essence over agnolotti when bringing it out which makes for a nice show! - Blue prawn moqueca ($36): I really enjoyed this dish! The sauce it's served in is extremely tasty! - Duck breast: This was actually my first time trying a medium-rare duck and it did not disappoint! The flavors were great and the skin had a nice crisp to it. - Our daily bread ($12): This is essentially a croissant-shaped bread! It came with 3 spreads. This place never disappoints! Food, service, ambiance are all first class. Our favorites this time were the beach cheese, kohlrabi Caesar, Brazilian cheese fritters (OMG!), and the tagliatelle with morels. came here for my husband's bday. the food was very good (the pasta with ragu...wow i wanted only that) and all the flavors were really cool and exciting. we ordered pretty much half the menu and it took at least 20 min in between each dish to come out, so we were sitting there for what felt like an eternity. we got so tired of waiting that i asked that everything just come out when its ready. i understand that the menu has a reason for some foods coming out and being prepared at certain times, but it was getting a little ridiculous how long we would wait in between each dish (and each dish was like...one bite per person so it seemed like a crazy long time). we asked for some specific requests for a few dishes and they were either forgotten or communicated well to the kitchen staff, and one of our orders was completely forgotten until i brought it up with another waitstaff. its a gorgeous interior with an amazing backdrop, floor to ceiling windows and a beautiful patio area. service is kind and friendly but our dining experience was just dragged out and inattention to detail at this price point felt a little meh. it's a great place for a date, but i'd suggest if you're meaning to catch a movie or another appointment after dining here i'd specifically tell them to bring out everything at once. read more

I can definitely see what the hype is about. The overall experience is easily a 5/5, with some caveats. This is a hard to get reservation these days, so be sure to book it out ahead of time if possible. We went to the new Village area, and were quite impressed with the overall location. It did feel a bit unusual to have a really nice restaurant in the middle of apartment complexes. We started with some cocktails, and I would echo what others have said...the cocktail was nice but not necessarily amazing. I think the flavor was good though, but next time (and I'm sure there will be a next time) I would probably stick with a nice glass of wine. Choosing several different appetizers, we got rolling right away. The steak tartare, the "beach cheese", the caviar pancake, and the daily bread were promptly served as each came out of the open-concept kitchen. The steak tartare was lovely, especially wrapped in the shiso leaf. Nice peppery flavor with good quality meat used. The beach cheese...well that was pretty good, but sharing one between two people was the right choice. It was definitely something I could imagine having on the beach in Brazil. The caviar pancake was nice, but honestly could be more of an amuse bouche rather than an appetizer...not truly worth the cost, but it was still decent. The daily bread on the other hand was divine. It was described incorrectly though, it was more like a loaf of croissant bread than the type our server mentioned (it escapes my mind right now). The spreads that accompany it was nicely paired. Since I'm a HUGE fan of croissants, this was easily one of my favorites. As for the main course, we went with the Blue Prawn Moqueca and charred maitake (hen of the woods) mushrooms. The Moqueca was presented deconstructed, with the broth poured at the table...a nice touch. The flavor was lovely, and the dende oil definitely makes it more complex. The overall dish was great, although I'd probably order something else next time. The maitake was incredible, and the lardo on top (the thin film of pork fat) added some good fatty flavor. Finally, the Dark Chocolate bar dessert was divine...super chocolately and a great way to end the meal. read more

Fantastic! From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave - it does not disappoint! I've been here a couple times now and the service has been amazing every time! The interior is also very aesthetic and perfect for a date night. I ordered the Uni pasta and my boyfriend ordered the fusilli verde pasta. The Uni was delicious and all the flavors melted together perfectly. The ingredients were high quality & just the perfect mix of fresh and creamy. This spot has a very cool vibe. I checked it out during a date night with my husband. The bartenders and servers were friendly and knowledgable, the ambiance airy with a dash of sophistication, and the food bursted with depths of flavors. I appreciate that Meridian is a place you can dress up or down at. I got their tiki bated and it was well made, I could tell the bartender knew what he was doing (even jokingly asked if he was a mixologist). My husband and I shared their beef tartare, aleppo mafaldine, rohan duck breast, and dark chocolate dessert. All of it was exceptionally well made. If you know me then you know I reserve one star for dessert (which will either make or adjust the experience). The dark chocolate was light yet decadent, my taste buds hit a high note when I ate it. Overall, I recommend this place and I look forward to visiting it again. If you're on the fence, run don't walk to try this spot out. read more

Interesting spot. Chef Junior has created something new here, a fusion of Brazilian, modern American, with fine dining flair. Our group started with the Tapioca Cheese Fritter, grilled cheese on a stick, and beef tartare. The best out of those was the fritter although the cheese on a stick was really good and had a sweet and spicy kick to it. The only pasta that we had was the gnocchi. Fairly unremarkable, but we weren't here for pasta. Entrees we ordered (and shared family style) were the picanha (Brazilian steak cut), pork, and moqueca. Favorites at our table where the pork and the moqueca. The latter is a spicy Brazilian seafood stew. Summer beans were a nice and light side. For dessert we shared the chocolate mousse, the yucca cake, and the grilled strawberries. These were all brilliant. Highly recommend checking out the Meridian. It's truly a five star restaurant, I just messed up. Allow me to explain. Located in the new and improved, The Village, I arrived to find a truly impressive dinning spot with a very comfy yet tasteful bar room and main seating area. I'm a fan of places with ceilings that kind of slope towards the hub of the establishment as it's visually appealing and has a playful quality to it. There is also lots of greenery adorning the edges of the windows, some innovative lighting, and a rustic meets urban symphony taking place with the decor. The outdoor seating looked astounding as well, but the weather wasn't suitable for it on this particular evening. I forgoed the usual four course regimen in favor of some of the happy hour items which commenced with the Grilled "Beach Cheese" on a Stick. Those ended up being a little sweeter than I was expecting with honey and lime listed among the ingredients. I should mention that it was brought out at the same time as my meal, which was the very '90s-sounding, X-Tudo Burger, a deceptively small but filling morsel also possessing its own distinctly sugary flavor. There were some brief moments of saccharine overload during the duration of the evening, but that's only when the two were eaten in combination. Next time, I will definitely stick with the regular menu because picking and choosing on my own was proven quite risky. Despite that anecdote, I have to highly recommend Meridian! I know there is a whole world to explore in that menu and I will return soon to investigate further. I do have a feeling that had Meridian been around when I lived in The Village, I would've absolutely been a regular, but as that's not the case now, it's still certainly worth my time and effort to make the trip. read more

Goodness! Meridian is fabulous. So much thought goes into the presentation of each dish. We started w the gin and tonic. It is huge and so delish. We had the red crab toast which was outstanding as was the kohlrabi salad. Hubs had the piri piri chicken and loved it. I had the sweet corn Aleppo rock shrimp pasta. Wine list is on point. This is my new favorite in Dallas. The village is a cool concept so come a bit early and walk around. read more

Wow! This place was a culinary delight. We came and ordered many different plates so that we could experience the wonderful dishes prepared by Chef Borges, an authentic Brazilian chef. We started with the Foie Torchon, which was buttery and delicious. We then tried the Fluke Tartare, Beef Tartare, Calabresa Sausage, Pan de Queso, and the Pichana. We had an excellent time for a birthday party, the staff were very accommodating. They rolled out a new menu the day before we arrived and wow! Everything was great. Buddy of mine thought he was going to leave hungry after the first course-- definitely not the case! Highly recommend the skate as the 3rd course. I don't have a huge sweet tooth so I had the sorbet for my final course and it was fantastic! In addition to the great staff and food, John with the valet crew was awesome!
