This restaurant is on the 20th floor and from the moment you walk in, it sets a tone. This would be a great place to take a date and a great place to meet people. The couple sitting right next to us was celebrating 10 years of marriage. We talked to them for a bit. I have been married 22 years and the other two people I was with have been married 15 and 17 years, so we had a good conversation going. We ended up getting the HWD short rib, which is sourced from local farms in the area. Those short ribs were absolutely great. See the picture below. As usual, I asked the wait staff what their favorite was and they all pointed to the short rib without hesitation. That told me everything I needed to know. I also noticed they have the King salmon, and looking across the menus it seems like they share items across the different restaurants, so there is something for everybody. The best part of this place is definitely the view and the ambiance- it's a beautiful, aesthetic spot. That said, it feels like one of those Dallas restaurants where the atmosphere outshines the food. We ordered several appetizers, and most were pretty average. The burrata was the standout, but the beef skewers were extremely rare and tasted like they had only been on the grill for a few minutes. I was initially pretty excited to visit Léonie after seeing it on Tik Tok and how beautiful it looked, but from the very beginning, it was not off to the best start. We did valet and walked in to speak with concierge about getting up to the rooftop bar, Léonie, and immediately was not greeted with a very welcoming response. One of the front desk men was not very friendly and immediately asked if we had a reservation, we stated we did not but valet had told us we were more than welcome to go upstairs and have a drink. The man replied with, "well you have to have a reservation..." Ok? So let's make one then! While tapping away on his iPad for several minutes and just as we started walking out, suddenly we were able to be seated right away. Funny how that worked out. And in case you're wondering, no, the restaurant wasn't busy ;) Once upstairs, things improved. Our server, Amanda, was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Unfortunately, that's when something happened that I never expected to experience at a restaurant inside a luxury hotel like the Swexan. One of the guests shoved his chair into mine, knocking my purse and phone onto the floor. There was no apology-just complete disregard. Moments later, while looking directly at my boyfriend and me, he said to his girlfriend, "We better leave before more ethnic people come." He later added, "I've been in Dallas for 10 years," as if that somehow gave him more of a right to be there than we did... even though we were both born and raised here LOL. We immediately told our server, Amanda, what had happened. She handled the situation with professionalism and compassion and quickly brought over the manager, Isaac. He sincerely apologized for what we had experienced, assured us that Léonie does not tolerate behavior like that, and informed us that the guests had been escorted off the premises. He also comped us another round of drinks in addition to a complimentary tiramisu. While nothing can undo the experience or the comments that were made, I genuinely appreciate how Amanda and Isaac responded once they became aware of the situation. They took it seriously, treated us with respect, and made it clear that this kind of behavior has no place at their restaurant. They turned what could have been an even worse evening into one where we at least felt heard and supported. Unfortunately, I will not return, as this experience was one that no person should ever have to go through, I did appreciate the staff. read more

We went for the afternoon tea and it was a very disappointing experience. We waited 35 minutes after our 2 PM reservation seating to even receive our 1st cup of tea. We were never offered a 2nd cup of tea. We had to ask for the second and 3rd cup of tea that we desired. They apparently ran out of scones they advertise with their tea and told us they did not make enough for the number of reservations they had for a Sunday Tea when we were one of three tables in there at 2 PM. We were given a plain crescent roll instead. Although the food was good, the service was so bad I would not recommend this tea to anyone. We were asking for water refills and the restaurant was NOT busy. Rather than seating the four of us at a table for 4, they jammed two 2-tops together and sat a party of 2 at the larger table. Orecchiette was what I got! It was delicious. Perfect amount of creaminess and you can add a choice of meat as well. I would totally get this dish again if I was to come back. Our server was phenomenal, went through all their fan favorites in detail and we felt so cared for. Came here for a bridal celebration and the bachelorette felt so special. Great place to take pictures especially during sunset with the beautiful city skyline in the background rigjt outside of the restaurant. Since we were on the rooftop of a hotel we were right next to the swimming pool and outdoor bar so you honestly get the best of both worlds from this place. read more

We were hotel guests here and because daily breakfast was included in our stay we took advantage. Also, since I was celebrating my birthday the weekend of our stay I decided to book their afternoon tea experience. Their daily breakfast items were pretty good! So much so that it made me look forward to the afternoon tea experience--unfortunately, it was ruined for multiple reasons. First, my bff who couldn't make the trip from NY arranged for them to deliver champagne to our table with an explicit note "from T, happy birthday" but instead of ensuring that went smooth they actually just brought the bottle to the stable and said "whoever booked the reservation on their account added champagne to the account." While we all were shocked at the gesture, the statement was grossly confusing because EYE, the birthday girl, booked the reservation. So safe to say my friend who called and confirmed thoroughly with the hostess who promised she'd ensure the bar and waiters were informed was disappointed that they did not deliver on a very simple ask. Then, 2 guests experienced GI issues about 5-6 hours later, ruining the rest of the celebratory day. We're certain it was the meat from the savory bites of the tea experience. Lastly, they were asked to split the bill and while doing so charged one guest double. When attempts were made to fix this, they became very slow to respond to emails and calls and insisted that it was maybe a tipped amount but wouldn't produce the receipt--also gratuity was already included, between the service and ruined surprise why would our party pay double on tip. Aside from that, the Hispanic hostess was distant and never greeted us with so much of a hello every time we visited. The black hostess on the other hand was welcoming, so much so she helped us figure out how to get our Stillwell leftovers reheated during one of our visits for breakfast. Our waiter, Oliver or Oscar (forgot his name) was vv nice but he was a little hard to track down at times. Of the breakfast items, everything was a 8-9 out of 10 except he wasn't a fan of the hash brown. It was a very savory bite remindful of thanksgiving breaded stuffing molded and fried--I thought it was unique and good, he on the other hand preferred old faithful potatoes! It's decorated very nicely, amazing sunlight and very cute furniture. I wouldn't ever attend their afternoon tea again, and am not sure if I would try breakfast once more. We were given tips after the fact and will use that discretion when looking for places to dine. read more

The food here is overpriced and less than mediocre. The Caesar salad was actually terrible. Like how does one mess up a Caesar salad. They were very stingy with the dressing! The crab cake also had a fishy taste and didn't have enough sauce for dipping. They provided a line of sauce solely for aesthetics. I ended up paying nearly $80 for just myself. The mocktails were ridiculously overpriced as well being $14! The interior and views were pretty though. I would not come here for the food! read more

We visited Léonie in May for afternoon tea and it was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was amazing. The food was very good although they were still serving the winter tea menu. We did have a small issue but they resolved it without any problem. I am looking forward to returning to try another tea menu. read more

THE BLACK AND WHITE: I was staying here for a night and got breakfast at Leonie. Seating was pretty seamless however the service was very slow and there was only a few people inside. For food, I ordered my omelet with ham, spinach, tomatoes and onions. I was impressed that the waiter didn't take any notes down. I also got a latte. The latte came out pretty quick. However the omelet came out almost 40 minutes later AND the staff took forever to get my check. Food was alright but nothing to brag home about. From start to finish, I think I spent around 1 and a half hours end to end to drink my coffee and get my omelette. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, food was alright. Views and decor was tip top. We went to holiday tea here and loved it. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was cute and beautiful views of downtown Dallas, and the food was unique and tasty. We've been to a few tea places, and while this one was pricey, it definitely felt elevated as well. Only things I would change are getting a pot of tea versus having to wait for them to bring it out to us each time, having a small fork in addition to the spoon and knife, and warming up the scones. Such a beautiful setting! Went right at sunset. However, it's seems like this is more of a lunch spot than a dinner destination. The tables were so tiny, please do not expect to have room for any of your side plates with your entree. It felt strange walking past people at the pool to get to your dinner reservation. This review has nothing to do with the service, it was great. The food was terrible. The steak tastes like a boiled piece of meat - no flavor. The caesar salad's dressing is water. Also, a Tito's and soda is $20 and they tried charging $27 for a tequila soda. The best part of the meal was the bread. Save your money, go anywhere else. read more
