She had been there a while she is not a young and she is not the sweet senior that works there. You'll know who I am talking about when you get the attitude. Great place to have breakfast during a break from school with the kids or an lunch on break from work. GReat variety of american and some mexican/spanish dishes for both lunch and breakfast. The Chicken Toastadas are great and the chicken tacos come stuff with chicken and lettuce and cheese on top. Good prices on mostly everything on the menu and great selection. I have been coming here for years and today we received the worse service. My boyfriend and I went there around 1130am. It wasn't to busy. We didn't have to wait for a table. We sat and had one waitress take our drink order which was just one coffee and two waters. Then had a different waitress take our food order. She must have been new because she had to look at the menu to ask if we wanted certain things. I ordered the Banana bread French toast. I asked for whipped cream on mine. My boyfriend ordered chocolate chip pancakes. She asked him if he wanted the chocolate chips on the side (weird). He said no he wanted them mixed in. We also wanted a side of home fries. 20 minutes go by and we still don't have our food. The waitress never comes by to let us know the food will be coming soon. I never get asked if I want a refill of my coffee. Finally my boyfriend waves down someone who I assume is the manager and said to him that it's been over 20 minutes since we ordered and that I need more coffee. The manager doesn't apologize and just said he will check the counter but the food should be out in 2 minutes and then brings me more coffee. The manager brings us our food. My banana bread French toast has 4 slices of bananas on it. He said to me did you want whipped cream? I tell him yes I asked the waitress for whipped cream. He takes my plate back to put some whipped cream on it. I get it back and the French toast is dry. My boyfriend asked for butter on his pancakes. They didn't give him butter. A bus boy came over to give him some butter. He said his pancakes were very dry as well. Finally when we were almost done eating a different waitress asked how everything was. We asked for the check. Our waitress brought the check. They charged for 2 coffees. So we told the waitress. The manager said something in Spanish to the waitress about us complaining about the food coming late if we were trying to get something free? What he didn't know if that my boyfriend is Dominican and understood what was said. I was very very disappointed in the service and the way we were treated. I will definitely not go back there again and tell my friends and family the same. This place has gone downhill. read more

Best home fries I've ever had. Mesa bennies (eggs Benedict with a twist) are spectacular. This is by far my favorite breakfast place!

My husband and I love Mesa. The food is always great and the staff is always friendly even during the hectic breakfast rush. Everything on the specials is great. The home fries are my favorite - crunchy never soggy, almost burnt in the best way. Get the green sauce with everything. I love supporting local businesses, especially when it comes to breakfast joints. Not sure why I've never eaten here prior to this but the food here is amazing! They have the best home fries! Everything was perfectly seasoned and decently priced. I got eggs, toast, home fries, and corned beef hash for less than $6.50. This is a little late, but went here for breakfast with a friend a couple weeks ago. Had the breakfast burrito and a side of fruit - although I had a really hard time picking, it all sounded so good! Great tasting, awesome salsa selections. Coffee was good too. The shining star, though, was the service. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and had a good laugh with us. I have never written a Yelp review before, but I love this place so much that I feel compelled to write one. Mesa Cafe and Grill is one of the best breakfast places that I have been to in Rhode Island. The food is amazing and I have had several items off of their menu such as the banana bread french toast, sweet bread french toast, various omelets (the california omelet is the best - ask them to add salsa on top), breakfast skins, crepes, pancakes, etc. I go there almost every weekend for breakfast. Compared to T's which is nearby, Mesa has better food, better prices and you won't have to wait as long if at all. The owner is always there and he is incredibly personable. Usually my favorite go to breakfast place. Today was a complete disaster from the waitstaff to the food. It was not busy, maybe 3 other tables. Waited 40 minutes for food that was cold and not what we ordered. Had to get up to ask for water and more coffee more than once. Booked a baby shower here in their banquet room for noon on Sunday. We had booked this in advance and was told we would be able to start setting up for our party at 11:45. A few days before the shower we stopped by to speak to the owner to make sure the times were still correct-they we're. When we arrived to start doing so, the room was being used by a large party who had just begun eating. They informed us we could use "half the room" for our party even though we booked the entire room until 3pm. The party did not leave for an entire hour so we were not able to do anything until almost 1pm. The waitstaff was beyond kind and trying to help us in this situation but the owner was absolutely terrible! He did not care about anything and even lied to my mother in law about not being at the restaurant when she spoke to him on the phone! Went there last week for breakfast with a party of 8. There were 2 other large parties in the room with as well and I think the waitstaff may have been a bit overwhelmed. We had a 5 year old and a 6 year old with us, the 6 year old was served chocolate milk with a cover, the 5 year old apple juice without a cover.... well that got knocked over! Lesson learned? That's the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!! I had the PSP omelet and it was delicious, the home fries were perfectly seasoned. First time I ever came here was 3 years ago the day after my wedding, my friend brought me here, the food was incredible, best place in the state to have breakfast. Brought my husband here one weekend morning after we honeymooned in Mexico...the place is so cozy and reminded us of being back out there, the food was just like the food served at the 5 star resort we stayed in out there. They have the best strawberry crepes I've ever had. The service was fast, food was cooked perfect, prices were good, the place was spotless. Not one complaint which is rare for me lol!! This is a great breakfast place! A friend of mine brought me last summer and since then i've brought most of my friends and family. Everyone is extremely nice. I've met the cook and owner quite a few times now and both are beyond friendly and helpful. They're menu is quite delicious too, although i usually get my favorite: 2 eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns, wheat toast, and a side of hollandaise sauce :) My coffee is never empty either. I recommend Mesa's every time someone wants breakfast. The meals are large and inexpensive. Plus, the paintings in the main room are beautiful to look at while waiting for our food. Long time Cranston resident and first time here! We usually go to T's or Cozy Grill. But saw this one in another review and decided to check it out. My husband ordered chili and chicken enchiladas at 9am and they were more than happy to serve him. Loved the chili...served with cheese, onion and fancy tortillas strips. The enchiladas were a bit heavy on the cilantro side, but he likes cilantro, so he was happy with them. I had the hash and eggs w/ a waffle. All delish. Would go back for sure and try some more of the Mexican items and more. Nice decor and service was great for a busy Sunday morning. read more

My family and I went for breakfast on a Sunday for our first time. We were very impressed! It was close to 1pm so it wasn't hugely crowded, though they were pretty busy. We were seated quickly and offered drinks by 3 servers, so the customer service was fantastic. I had the breakfast burrito and added sausage to it. It was delicious! They offered salsa verde on the side which you could tell they made in house. And that was delicious as well. My husband had steak and eggs and he really enjoyed it. Their home fries were yummy too. Our daughter had the Mickey Mouse pancake. It was sizable and she loved it. The service was excellent. We were waited on quickly and never felt forgotten. Coffee refills were very timely. My husband and I come here regularly; it's our favorite! We firstly value supporting local small business and love the collective vibe of Rolfe Street in Cranston. Ishmael (the owner) is a fantastic chef who creates innovative dishes. He has a full menu of classic mainstays but also trials new dishes on the regular. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and super prompt! Things are run VERY efficiently, but you're never pressured to rush through a meal. The food is excellent, particularly the bacon! Had a great breakfast here on Friday. Ordered the Tex-Mex Omelet which was filled with hash and tomatoes. Very generous serving of hash inside the omelet and it was very tasty (still, probably not made from scratch, but tasty nonetheless). The home fries were very good (hot and crispy, not lukewarm and soggy or undercooked like others I've had.). Service was pleasant and prompt and everything was very reasonably priced.
