Our original breakfast place is closed from a fire and we have been in search of a new location to have breakfast after church. While searching through Yelp this place popped up. My husband is originally from CO, so having a Hispanic breakfast would be right up his alley. This place was a hit! The food was amazing! Both my Nannie and I had eggs Benedict, mine was the Mesa and it was great. The homefries were my favorite! My son had the butterfly waffles, it was to come with fruit but they didn't add it. My husband got the Breakfast Burrito with Chorizo. He destroyed it and is now in a food coma. I would give all five e stars if it wasn't for our waiter seemed frazzled with the church rush and took awhile to take our order and we barely saw him to get refills on drinks. The egg omelettes here are awesome. They are pretty big and very flavorful. The only downside is there is only street parking.

This is a great place to go! Home made food made better! They have great coffee and it's always fresh I saw them rebrew pots over and over so you always have a fresh cup! The home fries are perfect and I love home fries and this place does it right with clarified butter and not left to sit but made to order so they are not soggy in the middle. My omelette was excellent and it was made right not like places I have gone where it's eggs tossed in that's a scrambler not an omelette! This place is fast fresh and the service is great to everyone is moving and you don't have to wait for anything. In a city like Providence finding restaurants is easy finding places to go back to is hard because all the choices. This is the place we will be going back to! read more

Tried Mesa for the first time today, and this is definitely my new breakfast place. My girlfriend and I were seated right away, and the food came out fairly quickly. The food was delicious. My girlfriend had the specialty pumpkin bread French toast, and I had the banana bread French toast with eggs, bacon, and homefries. The homefries are the best I've had at a breakfast place, and the bacon was nice and crispy. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I ordered the King which comes with 2 eggs, pancakes or French toast, and a meat of your choice. I asked if I could get banana bread French toast to substitute the regular French toast that comes with the meal for a few extra dollars, and I could not. So, it ran my bill up about an extra $10. Other than that, I would recommend it to anyone who has not tried it yet. read more

Just moved to the neighborhood and have been wanting to try this place. We went at around 9:30 am on a Sunday and were seated immediately. The staff were all friendly, prompt, and very helpful and informative. We enjoyed the atmosphere as well. I got the Huevos Rancheros which were tasty and the homemade tortillas on the side were heavenly. The fried plantain was a perfect addition and should be served with every meal as far as I'm concerned. My husband got the steak and eggs, the steak was flavorful and he enjoyed his meal but will try something different next time. We will be back soon to this cozy spot! read more

Stopped by for lunch and very much enjoyed the meals. I had crispy chicken tacos and my husband had steak tacos. Our server suggested that we get a side of green salsa with both and it was the right addition. The salsa was the perfect balance of spicy and flavorful and had enough heat to enjoy, but not so much that your mouth burned through the entire meal. If I had a tiny concern, it was that the chicken in the taco was a touch dry, but because the salsa was so good, it adds the needed moisture. If salsa isn't your favorite, you might want to choose something else. Portions were filling and Iced tea and coffee beverages were cold and refillable. I come here at least once a month because I live close by and for the most part the food is good -- typical breakfast fare. The prices are very reasonable too. My only gripe is the service. The waitstaff are not organized, and I sometimes wait 10-15 minutes with empty plates waiting for my bill. On one occasion, I ordered breakfast to go and when I got there, they hadn't even put the order in! I think they are understaffed, and there's a few staffers that are just too slow. read more

I had the huevos rancheros which are delicious, the sauce the chef puts on them is the prefect hint on spicy. The beans and platanos are delicious and it's only right to serve it with warm tortillas. We found this place by accident while house hunting in the area. So god we did this will now be our go to Sunday brunch spot. To start the decor is beautiful and so clean, the staff are extremely friendly and know the menu. Now onto the best part.... The food. I ordered the special omelet the azteca that came w toast and homefries. Everything was delicious n not a drop left on my plate. My husband got the hungry boy well because he is a big boy and it was perfect. So not only is the food delicious but it tastes cleaner then normal diner restaurant food no oily residue just all freshness even the homefries have a cleaner more natural taste better then anywhere here in RI. I'm not sure if my tastes have changed, or if the food has gone downhill lately, but wasn't that impressed last time I went here after a long hiatus. The banana bread french toast I had previously grown to love seemed different - it was thicker, drier and sort of bland. The home fries were too greasy and flavorless, the corned beef hash was ok - and that was the best part of my meal (and it came from a can). The orange juice is the "cheap kind". On the plus side, the service is was very prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is inviting, just don't expect too much from your breakfast other than a full belly. read more

Been eating at this place for a few years now. It was originally called Rolfe St. Diner until it changed hands and is now owned/operated by a friendly family. Food is really good as far as eggs/ potatoes type breakfast is concerned. What makes Mesa special is that they add a Mexican flare to a lot of their dishes. Also, their home-made Pico de gallo, Chipotle, and tomatillo salsas are all outstanding. I like to get a standard 2-egg breakfast and cover it either in the pico or the salsa verde. On days that I'm hungrier I go for the famous breakfast burrito, to which I add fresh jalapeno for some extra "umpgh"! Service generally tends to be exceptional as they work as a team and there is constantly someone refilling coffees or looking around making sure everything is good. There have been a couple occasions where something was forgotten on our order and we've had to wait a little while to get it remedied but over-all the service is outstanding. I personally think this is the best breakfast to be had in Cranston. Period. read more

I woke up this morning with a desire for breakfast. I didn't want to to drive anywhere and decided my daughter and I would try somewhere within walking distance. A friend of mine had recommended this place and based on the additional reviews I have read, I knew I had to try it. Upon walking in, just before 10am, the front part of the restaurant is already packed, which is a good sign. The wait staff approached us and was very friendly. We were seated in the second room. The restaurant looks very small from the outside but is roomy enough on the inside. Our waitress was extremely nice and knowledgable as I asked her a few questions about the menu items. I ordered the Greek Goddess omelet which came with spinach, diced tomatoes, olives, feta cheese and crumbled bacon bits on top as well as a side of toast and home fries. My daughter ordered the Rolph St. Platter which came with 2 eggs, home-fries, a choice of meat (she chose Bacon) and pancakes. I added in a side of hash just to give it a try. Upon trying our food, my home-fries were a little cold whereas my omelet was piping hot. If I were a picky person about food temperature, I would have sent my home-fries back, but I'm not, at least with breakfast. The omelet was very good. I loved the added little crunch that the bacon bites gave and the flavors of the spinach and feta cheese were on point. The hash was also very good. My daughter enjoyed her eggs and home-fries but was not a fan of the bacon. It was very overcooked and rather dry tasting. The pancakes were light And fluffy with a yummy buttery taste to them. Both of our main dishes were under $11.00, but when you add in coffee, chocolate milk and a side of hash..... The bill was a total of $34.00. Overall, I have to say that I was not impressed. I walked in with high hopes, but it was just mediocre. I will at least give it another try before crossing this off my list of go to breakfast joints. Maybe today was just an off day. read more

We've never waited more than 5 minutes for a table which is impressive for a breakfast spot. I stop in for breakfast once in a while. Noticed lately the homefry's are soft and mushy, like they don't have time to crisp them up. Way too over seasoned as well. If I want that much salt on my food, I'll add it. Completely un-edible. The place is clean, men's room is clean, the wait staff if attentive and the rest of the food looks good. We went here for breakfast because of everyone raving about the breakfast. Well, they were right! And if we were staying in Providence longer, I'm sure we would have eaten lunch there, too. She had been there a while she is not a young and she is not the sweet senior that works there. You'll know who I am talking about when you get the attitude.
