Enjoyed our recent brunch here! But first, let me explain parking, because I didn't fully understand it when I got there - just park in the designated lots, and do not pay there. Wait to scan the code at the restaurant, put in your license plate, and you get a free 2 hours of parking! Loved the free chips and salsa and probably could just eat my weight in that. We also ordered the guac + queso combo which were fine, but nothing extraordinary, so I'd skip that next time. My partner ordered the huevos motuleños, which did not resemble anything close to the version from the Yucatan, but still tasted fine! Needed a bit more tomato sauce action. I had the carne asada quesadilla (I know! Too basic!) but I was craving that perfect bite of gooey cheese, marinated meat and crisp, toasted tortilla. It was very satisfying. Oh Boy! We wondered about and ended up having dinner here. Glad we did. Highlights: 1. Skip the Queso. We added the brisket and it was $12.50. It was so thick and we ran out chips and had to wait forever for more so it was cold. Not the best. 2. Get the carnitas tacos- they are small so if you're starving ask to add a few extras. So incredibly yummy. I love carnitas and these were some of the best. Instead of beans and rice they let me substitute the creamy corn. It was delicious! I love when they let me substitute! 3. Hubby had the Pollo Serrano Enchiladas. He thought they were ok but I thought they were terrific. 4. Save room for dessert. Get the Churros!!! I came here for lunch with colleagues and it was not a great experience. First off the bat, there was a funky smell inside. It could and probably was just something going on that day but it doesn't help setting the tone. We sat outside and it was an enclosed but a nice patio space. Arrived into Dallas a little late on Sunday and was looking for places to eat - but every restaurant was full! After much walking around, we found a table for four at Meso Maya at 2PM. I was debating between the seafood options and the brunch menu - for the latter, between the avocado breakfast torta (need some greeeens) and the huevos motulenos. I ended up choosing the huevos and somewhat regretted my decision. The huevos were good - I enjoyed the crispy sweet plaintains, the creamy avocados added a nice balance, and the eggs were crispy and smooth - but I found the tortilla a bit mushy and difficult to cut through (almost as if stale). The sauce was spicy and flavourful, but I found the portion quite small relative to the other menu items - I left unsatisfied. In our experience Meso Maya has always delivered superior food, service, and ambiance since their original opening in the early 2010s. The original location is on the edge of downtown Dallas, in what used to be the Luna Tortilla factory (since 1938) next to El Fenix-- perhaps Dallas's oldest Tex-Mex restaurant. Anyway, I think the Luna Tortilla Factory burned. We were really worried about that, because we used to depend on Luna for our tortillas-- and we were afraid some airhead developer might come in and raze the building. My husband and I are in town for a conference and Meso Maya was on my list of must try spots. Boy did they NOT disappoint. We didn't have a reservation but they hostesses were super sweet as well as accommodating. Our server Roseanna gave us awesome service! She was very quick to greet us, get us our drinks, take our order and ensure our food was brought out to us perfectly. We were in and out in less than an hour but never rushed to leave. The ambiance of this place is so beautiful and perfect for any occasion. Now the real good stuff.... The food here is so mouth watering and just the perfect combination of flavors. We were in Dallas for around 24 hours to finish up a weeklong road trip. Tex Mex was on the menu. The cool interior is a welcome reprieve during this scalding July day in Dallas. The frozen mango sangrita is DELICIOUS and I could honestly throw back 10 of those bad boys. I would also like to say that the salsa and chips they provide (I didn't even know restaurants did this shit anymore) are CRACK. That salsa is some of the best salsa that I've ever had with an incredibly smoky flavor. It took every ounce of willpower not to completely fill up on that shit. We may have been too aggressive with the ordering, especially considering we had drinks and an appetizer at another place prior to our arrival. We ordered the guac, tostaditas, queso blanco enchiladas, and a side of elote con crema. The guac was creamy and delectable. Paired well with their crispy chips. The tostaditos aren't on the online menu so I will have to do this from memory: diced tomato, lettuce, beans, two kinds of cheese (one crumbly kind and one more like queso) on a crisp tortilla and accompanied by hot sauce. Tasty and perfect as an appetizer. When ordering, I told him that we were going to share everything. They were kind enough to put the enchiladas on two separate plates with separate sides which was the SWEETEST touch. The enchiladas are absolutely mother fucking doused in creamy cheese, they use chihuahua, monterey jack, muenster, and their signature queso poblano. The star of the show was the elote con crema side. Hands down the best elote I've ever had. The menu should state "elote con Crema" because the crema requires an upper case C with how creamy this shit is!!! Absolutely incredible elote. The service was exceptional. Our waters were constantly refilled (it was a hot day, need to stay hydrated, you understand). The food came out literally so quickly after ordering that it was borderline suspicious. This place looked so popular on Yelp so I had to try it. We made a reservation for lunch on a Saturday, but I don't think reservations were needed since the inside didn't seem very crowded. Arrived under reservations prior to seeing Moulin Rouge at Fair Park. They have indoor and outside seating. Although it was 50 degrees, both areas were busy- -way busier than expected at 5p. The decor is industrial boho with some Mexican flare. Their salsa is the bomb! Smokey and fresh with good heat. Chips are made in house, in strips, which made them great for dipping. Their house Margarita was $10--all fresh squeezed juice and blue agave--which usually runs more $$ at other restaurants. We had brisket enchiladas and the short rib rellenó. The side of black beans were very good. The short rib was served separate from the cheese relleno, but was excellent. We just thought the short rib would be in the relleno. For those interested, they have 4 mezcals to choose from and a good selection of tequilas. We would definitely recommend this place and would come back again. Enjoy! read more

La Novela is my favorite non -margarita cocktail and the passion fruit juice brings the drink to life. The arrachera melts in your mouth and is served with fresh sides like corn tortillas, guacamole, and pickled red onions. Don't skip a side or two of the sweet plantains and sweet corn tamales. They're both excellent! For a casual dinner or a group larger than 6, this is a perfect place to meet up without breaking the budget. Our server, William, was top notch. I would not recommend the fajitas as the steak was tough and salty, the onions were not caramelized, and the tortillas were hard and nothing special The carne asada was a bit better as the steak was more tender, less salty and the sides that came with the dish were better.
