Fried Chicken & Waffle and Eggs Benedict on a biscuit with chicken tenders.
    Brian C.

On our way to Charleston SC we stopped overnight in Augusta GA. We decided to grab some supper and I came across this diner on Yelp. We went around 5 PM on a Thursday and were seated right away. A young lady named Kayla Jo was our server. She was fantastic and took great care of us during our visit. I ordered chicken and waffles with tenders instead of the bone in chicken. My wife ordered eggs Benedict. My dish came with strawberry butter, spicy maple syrup, and regular maple syrup. The waffle was delicious and mixed with the strawberry butter and spicy syrup it was delicious. Chicken was crispy and again adding the spicy syrup put the dish over the top. The portion was quite plentiful too. My wife's dish was served on a biscuit instead of an English muffin and with a chicken tender. The hollandaise sauce was cheesy but not overpowering. She enjoyed it quite a bit and thought it was delicious. The manager checked on us as did Kayla Jo frequently. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious. If you're in Augusta, you should check out this diner.

I had the shrimp & grits and it really pleased my taste bud. The shrimp was well seasoned and the dish was put well together overall. I was still hungry and ordered the San Francisco egg benedict. The poached egg was cooked right and the hollandaise sauce could use a bit more seasoning.

Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, eggs and hashbrowns.

Traveling through Augusta I came across a familiar name. This location was smaller than the Florida establishments I've been too but clean and friendly. I was seated quickly. My waiter was John and he was very nice and attentive. I knew what I wanted so placed my order for sausage biscuits and gravy with medium eggs and hash-browns, coffee and water. It arrived in just a few minutes. Nice hearty meal, sausage gravy was very tasty, eggs were cooked correctly, hash-browns delicious. My only dislike was the biscuits. (-1). Very, very dense. I would have preferred fluffier/flaky biscuits. The dense biscuits required more gravy but because of the portion size I just scraped one clean and added that gravy to the other biscuit. This was a better ratio. Metro is known for large helpings and fair prices. I would still return and suggest you give it a try.

My best friend and I went and we both had the Bissell Breakfast. When I tell you there was nothing but empty plates left over I am serious! The order came out lightning fast and my sausage was still sizzling! The waitress was amazing, checked on us and got everything we needed! This is definitely an 80's diner, the music brought me back to my high school years. The decor and atmosphere were fantastic! I love the green and white lights inside. I visited the restroom and it was well kept. I highly recommend this place for any meal!

The food was and service was great, especially our server Warren, he was very attentive, kind, and just awesome. On the 2nd visit our server Cheryl was very nice. The Hostess on the other hand proceeded to seat my daughter and I in a dirty booth. I asked her nicely if she could clean off the table and I pointed out the booth also and this was after she somewhat wiped. Please go over cleanliness with ALL STAFF upon seating guest, this was just NASTY!!!!! I gave 3 stars 1 for the food that was delicious and a star for each server.

Simple. Great breakfast/brunch. I lived in Augusta for 4 years and never had a bad metro experience! Always good service & great food! Give the spicy honey chicken biscuit a try! That biscuit puts Chick fil A to shame!

Best waffle I've ever had! Seriously, it was incredible. I highly suggest that you go just to try it. The service was excellent. Our server was two steps ahead on everything and extremely nice. Everything about our group of six: food, service, and ambiance was all very good. Everyone stated that the food came out fast and tasted great!

The Bissell Breakfast substituted the pancakes and toast for a waffle.

This is where the locals eat! My family always go to brunch after Christmas Day and this was our #1 choice this year. It wasn't that busy when we arrived, but this place can get packed. Just know it's worth the wait because you definitely get way more food than you expect. The diner has a hometown feel as well. This time around, I ordered the Bissell Breakfast. I substituted the pancakes and toast for a waffle. My sister had the avocado toast. Both were delicious! Again, if you're hungry come here because you're definitely getting more bang for your buck. Shout out to Rod our waiter that took very good care of us! If you're in town visiting, ask for him. Thanks again for a great experience. We'll definitely be back when we #WantWhatWeWant

While in town for the weekend my husband and I wanted brunch somewhere unique to Augusta instead of another chain restaurant, and after scrolling Yelp and seeing all the glowing reviews we decided to give this Black owned, family operated spot a try. I noticed online that you can make a reservation for a $20 fee that gets deducted from your check. At first I was a little surprised, but after seeing how busy this place is, it makes total sense. We decided to roll the dice without a reservation anyway. When we arrived on a Saturday morning there were already several people waiting outside. There isn't really an indoor waiting area, so the hospitable hostess took my name and phone number and kindly asked us to wait outside. Later I noticed the sign explaining the process. She quoted us a 40-minute wait, but thankfully we were seated in about half that time. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy with a classic diner feel complete with counter seating and booths. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. If you have a larger party, there are a couple of outdoor tables that appear to accommodate around six people, but personally I think this spot is best enjoyed with a smaller group. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving smoothly despite the busy brunch crowd. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles while I went with the Garden City breakfast bowl loaded with veggies and home fries plus a salmon croquette on the side. Every single thing tasted homemade and full of flavor. This is what Southern comfort food is supposed to taste like. My husband said the chicken was seasoned well and fried perfectly, and the waffle paired with it beautifully. My breakfast bowl reminded me of the kind of breakfast my grandma used to make, comforting, flavorful, and cooked with care. Portion sizes were just right,  enough to leave satisfied without feeling miserable afterward. Prices were also very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. Stellar customer service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere. If I ever find myself back in Augusta, this will absolutely be one of my repeat stops.

I'll tell you what made me unhappy. We were there on a 95 degree day. When we were seated our waitress brought us a carafe of water and 2 glasses. Room temperature water and no ice. I asked for ice and she brought us a cup of ice. Not really enough for 2 people and it melted down as soon as I poured water over it. I figured that the only way I would get ice was to order a drink, so I ordered ice tea. That usually comes with ice. Right?? Well our waitress said that she had to brew me a fresh cup of tea which when you pour that over ice the ice melts away and again I had a glass of room temperature tea. I couldn't get a cold drink here to save my life. And did I mention that it was 95 degrees out? My wife ordered a Rubin sandwich, not realizing that it was a spicy sandwich. One bite and she was done. She doesn't like spicy food so I traded her for my simple bacon egg sandwich on a bagel and I had her spicy Rubin. And it was spicy! They had a mustard that must've been made with jalapeño and if you like heat, you will like this. Plenty of parking. Full bar. Clean restroom. Very average.

The valet folks were friendly, everybody smiled, and for a moment I thought we might have stumbled onto one of those places where Southern hospitality still gets practiced instead of just printed on brochures. The inn itself has that old-school charm. The front porch alone looks like it has stories to tell, and most of them are probably better than the ones you'll hear at the average chain hotel breakfast buffet. The room was nice enough, though getting to it felt a little like a low-impact obstacle course. After stepping off the elevator, there were three steps to negotiate before reaching the room. No big deal. I shuffled the luggage and carried on. Then I discovered the room itself was split-level, complete with three more steps. That arrangement seemed perfectly reasonable until the 3 a.m. trip to the bathroom, when those same steps suddenly became an adventure sport. One suggestion: every room ought to have a proper nightstand and a place to charge the electronic gadgets that have become attached to modern Americans like an extra limb. We may not all travel with a typewriter anymore, but most of us carry enough electronics to launch a small satellite. Things got a little more interesting when hunger arrived. We tried to make restaurant reservations through the Resy link on the hotel's website. No luck. The restaurant wasn't listed. Fine. Technology fails. It happens. So I called the restaurant. No answer. Turns out the restaurant number appears to be the same as the front desk. I left a message and waited about 45 minutes for a callback. Never got one. Again, no big deal. DoorDash and an Indian restaurant came to the rescue. While pondering the mystery of the missing callback, I found myself staring out the window. That's when I noticed the paint splatters and streaks all over the glass. Now, I don't know who handles maintenance around there, but somebody needs to explain that painting a window and cleaning a window are two entirely different activities. And that's really the story of the Partridge Inn. Nice people. Pleasant room. Plenty of charm. But charm can only carry you so far when attention to detail keeps missing the bus. The little things matter because they add up. The unanswered phone, the broken reservation link, the paint on the windows, the awkward room layout--they're all small by themselves. Together, they're enough to make me appreciate the stay but probably not enough to make me come back for another one.
