I have always been wanting to take a picture of my amazing food but, I always forget. Metro diner is amazing. The service is good, the atmosphere is good, and even the food is good. I am probably going to go again today. (I went yesterday) THE FOOD: The food is quite delectable. I order a dish that has sirloin steak, hash browns, (removed the tomatoes), and it's this very nice sauce (forgot the name). Which is very good. I get either a water or a sweet tea as my drink. Food rating: 5/5 THE SERVICE: The service is very good! The manager even asked how the food was! Our server was very nice! The food arrived in 5-10 minutes. The wait for the table on a Sunday afternoon was 45 minutes. The service was great and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I ordered the meatloaf based on the waiter's recommendation. That was not a good choice. The meatloaf was not very flavorful. It seemed to be half breading and half meat. I had to really salt and pepper it up to get some flavor in it. The chicken and green beans were good but the macaroni and cheese should be discontinued/be removed from the menu. The first time I had their Mac & Cheese I figured someone had a bad day. That was over three months ago. Today (7 Jul 25) I ordered what I always order and again the macaroni and cheese as a whole was stiff, some noodles were hard, had no flavor not even cheese, no salt, no pepper, and it was dry. This location does get super busy!!! We know exactly when to come and we must say it's GREAT. We're always seated within 5-10 minutes. Customer service is always on point also. We found this diner today and what a delicious experience. We were greeted and promptly seated. The waitress was amazing and was very knowledgeable of the food. She did a great job offering suggestions when we were struggling with a choice. They have a gluten free menu upon request which is perfect for those with gluten sensitivity or allergies. Our service was prompt. Food: The philly cheesesteak on a gluten free bun was one of the best we've had. It was seasoned well, and the bun wasn't soggy. The fish was perfectly cooked. The omelet was fluffy and had plenty of cheese. The strawberry butter paired well with the toast. We saw several orders for their chicken and waffle. I kid you not, they could have easily fed 2 people! We were tempted to get an order for dessert, but we were stuffed and couldn't eat another bite. However, we plan to come back and try them! Horrible. I am here for just tonight. After driving all day, I ordered a Caesar salad through Door Dash. Whoever packed the order didn't bother to include dressing. Sorry, but Caesar salad is lettuce, croutons, and cheese. Without dressing its inedible. When we called about it the response we got was a nervous giggle followed by I guess I forgot to include it. They offered a gift certificate. What is the point? A gift certificate doesn't get me some dinner tonight, and I am too tired to go out to look for something. If I could give a minus star I would. Metro has always been a great place to eat. We had not been in a while and went today. I'm not sure what has happened there but I only saw 3 familiar faces out of 15 working. The food was okay and service a little slow but what really ruined it for us was the expediter, Matt. I had asked for extra toppings for my cinnamon roll pancakes. They have 4 different things that they top them with. When the pancakes came, there was only a thin layer of icing and none of the other toppings. I was also missing the butter. I asked for it and finally received it. When the bill came, I was charged for "extra toppings". I would not mind if I had gotten extra toppings but I only got what should have been placed on the pancakes to start with. When I asked the waitress why I was charged for extra and she said that she had not put that charge on there. She said her manager must have added the charge (Matt). She went to ask him about why he added the charge as she knew there was no extra toppings to be charged for. He came over to where we were sitting and told me that I had extra toppings, ones on the pancakes and the ones on the side. He stood there and lied about the pancakes! He was such a jerk and the waitress told me that the always acts like this. Needless to say, no impressed and hope that he moves on soon. So so good! We were visiting Augusta and pulled up restaurants around our hotel. This one had a 4 1/2 star rating so we gave it a try and it did not disappoint. We walked in to a very friendly greeter who seated us very quickly and it was hopping in there. The gentleman that greeted us actually took our drink orders before we ever sat down. Our actual server that took our orders and served us our food was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual with some great music playing. We ordered the avocado toast and egg and the turkey platter. Both dishes were so tasty and satisfying. The portions were very generous. The menu has a nice variety. I'm usually not a chicken + waffles kinda guy, but these will convert you. Chicken was delicious -- not too much breading, which may turn some people off but to me it was fine. As for the waffles... sensational. Fluffy, soft, like eating a sugary pillow. The strawberry butter made the combination taste like eating the last few bites of a cake cone with strawberry ice cream. The Metro Diner has grown considerably since its humble start in Jacksonville, Florida. Some things have been good since this growth. Probably the best thing is that a lot more people hot to try this what is now growing chain of diners and it is also offering a superior product to places like Denny's and IHOP (or International House of Pancakes to a few of us who remember that long lost term). One of the bad things is that with growth, they had to make some corporate decisions and one of them was to streamline their menu and one of the things to go was my favorite Metro Diner item. It was an incredible sandwich made of pork loin, bacon and spinach. Come on, you know it sounds incredible and let me assure you, it was even better tasting than how it sounded. There are still a lit of great options. You can't go wrong with their burgers and their breakfasts are pretty solid, as well. Most things on the menu are good. Service was good here, as well. I have been to multiple locations, including the original location in Jacksonville, and I cannot say that I have ever had poor service at any of the locations. If you are looking for a good meal, head on over to this location. They have plenty of great things on the menu (just not that amazing pork loin, bacon and spinach sandwich). read more

This is honestly a classic fill me up. Simple and a timeless classic. Honestly a mood. One thing I found unique was the pancakes, there's a little crystallized sugar/sweet bits as I ate through them. Atmosphere and vibes is good all around. Staff were all wonderful and the place was busy busy. Overall the diner gets my 5 star rating. Left happy and satisfied. Will definitely come here again. They do Military Discounts of 10% off and it applies to the rest of the party members too (just provide proof for one of y'all). Only suggestion is to work on the cleanliness. Compared to other diners that I been to, I would say to work on the cleanliness. The utensils were a little dirty/sticky. my daughter and I visited " Where the locals eat " on Monday March 3, 2025. The atmosphere was nice enough. Not very many people , because it was early in the day around 3:30 or 4. My daughter had the Teriaki Salmon and I had the half rack baby back ribs basket. We both noticed early the food was not right. Later on that afternoon...... we were both sick and vomiting. All night long with what we felt was food poisoning. I don't know what happened here, but somebody needs to know this experience was terrible. I'm still sick and dry- heaving. Came in super early on a Saturday as to miss the rush. We walk in and the kitchen staff holler to us to sit wherever we'd like. Being our first time there we were trying to find a table for 6. Eventually a waitress comes over and let's us know they have actual tables for 6 and that we don't have to push tables together. We sit and are greeted by the nicest and most relatable waitress I've ever had. I wish I remembered her name but my in-laws picked up the check and I didn't get a chance to see. In any case, she told us her absolute favorites, what was popular, and what specials they currently had. I end up with the Cinnamon Roll Pancake and my husband the Apple Streusel Stuffed Waffle. I wasn't super impressed with the pancakes but they weren't bad. Pretty underwhelming. I half expected the candies pecans to be soft, but they were crunchy. I also usually scoop the butter off pancakes but I actually enjoyed the cinnamon butter. My husband destroyed the waffle. He asked for light cream cheese but even then it was too much. He'd get it again, without any cream cheese though. He loved how fluffy the waffle was, and how generous they were with the apple toppings. We ordered a side of home fries to share and have the kids pick off, but it isn't something we'd really remember. They weren't seasoned, but a little salt and pepper made them taste better. This is our 3rd or 4th time visiting Metro Diner. The decor hasn't change much. From the checkered floor tiles to the metal accented tables and further still to the bar with barstools harkens to some 1970s diner with waitresses names Fran. The service: I wouldn't call the service friendly. It is more of semi-formal interaction bordering on a curt back and forth. No time for causal conversation here! There was no "good morning!" or "nice to see you". It was "can I get you x". This type of customer service has been consistent across our multiple visits. You know that awkward time after your party is done eating and you're waiting on the server to bring the check.. yea that happened. No flavored coffee creamer - which I've found to be more of a standard offering at other breakfast places. I'm not sure if they limit the creamer flavors to promote their special more expensive in-house flavored coffee or other added costs to offering flavored creamer. Personally, I like my coffee a little hotter than what was brought to us. The food - I can't put my finger on it, but something is off with the food. Our dishes arrived at our table exceptionally fast... almost too fast. I suspect parts of our meal were pre-made. In a breakfast diner environment I fully expect for my meal to be made when I order it. If Huddle House can do it so can Metro Diner. Today I chose the Steak & Scramble Bowl. The Steak & Scramble Bowl is overvalued. The steak was tender, and amount was sufficient, however the taste was a little lacking. Unfortunately, the hash browns added very little to the bowl in terms of flavor or texture. In fact, the hash browns tasted like they were made well ahead of my order. The scrambled eggs were slightly above room temperature. You'll notice from the picture that the tepid temperature of the dish was not sufficient to melt the Great Value shredded cheese. The description said the hallandaise was drizzled on top of the bowl. You'll note from the picture that the "hollandaise" was globbed in a central location. Lastly, the contents of the bowl did not fill up the bowl. I also ordered a Belgium waffle. The waffle was good. However, at $7.79 it was a little pricey, especially considering the toppings or the lack there of. read more
