Service, quality of food, and timeliness of food from start to finish were all fantastic. I ordered the bacon avocado bowl which was an item I would usually not order, but decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. We came to this location because the one in Huntersville put us on hold and never came back to the phone. This one answered immediately so we zoomed over. Chicken and waffles is the game changer. It is a half of chicken with 2 waffles cut into 4 pieces. Super delicious!! Spencer was our server and she did a nice job. Food came out fast. I would say they need to get their outside seating game up. There is a good amoint of space that is being underutilized. But still 5 stars for the food. read more

Every month my friend Charlie and I try to meet here for breakfast. It is always and enjoyable experience. Today was no exception. We arrived at 10am and were seated immediately. Our server, Cathy, was at our table almost immediately. She greeted us with a smile and a very positive attitude. We ordered our breakfasts. Very quickly, Aakilah brought us our entrees. She asked if she could get us anything else and Charlie ordered a side of bacon. It was at our table in the time it took her to walk to the kitchen and back. Both ladies were extremely efficient. It's obvious they like what they do. This is a very comfortable place to enjoy a Saturday morning with a friend. We will certainly be back soon! read more

Well I have been here about 4 times, I think that it is good diner food but I do think the whole place needs a good cleaning. Has that great diner smell when you walk in but the booths and floors need a scrub. Had a Belgian Waffle today and hash browns. The Waffle was on point. The hashbrowns were okay..could have been a tad bit more crisp. Server was nice, after we asked her not to put us at the back of the restaurant as I have a cane and its a big place. Metro Diner is always a hit! I am all about consistency and Metro provides just that. I'm always welcomed by friendly hostesses and the waitress/waiters are always so nice! One of my favorite meals here is the chicken and waffles! The sweet and spicy sauce it comes with is delicious! Be aware that when you order pancakes you're going to get a healthy serving! My last visit here I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes, they were very sweet! Good but to sweet for my taste. I took 3 bites of my pancakes and realized I could not finish lol. I knew my daughter would love them (she loves sweet pancakes) so I had them boxed up for her. I would recommend Metro diner if you are passing through Charlotte, or for family breakfast/brunch. I love Metro Diner. I keep coming back after the last mishap. Will I ever dine inside no, but I carry out or doordash. So I decided to go for something different, they added some new things to the menu. I got the Hawaiian Pork Bowl. Marinated pork drizzled with a kickin' pineapple-orange sauce. Served over white rice and a veggie mix of shredded carrots, red cabbage, corn, green peppers, and onions. Topped with scallions and diced jalapeños.. sounds delicious. The picture looked amazing. Something isn't right. It tasted smokey. Where is the Pineapple Orange sauce flavor I was hoping to find? Not there. It was awful. The rice was mushy, I was hoping for a little crunch with all the veggies, but none to be had. It tasted like it came out of a bag from the freezer section of the grocery store. Not worth the $ and definitely not giving it another try. Guess I will stick to the original menus items. Idk if anyone else has tried this let me know. read more

We stopped here on our way to Charlotte because they were promoting the red velvet pancakes . It was a little wait considering it was Sunday morning .I ordered the red velvet pancakes with a pink mimosa , I couldn't tell what the juice was in the mimosa because the server was unsure herself. Anyways the pancakes had cream cheese icing with strawberries and crust crumble on top. It was pretty good actually I still used a little syrup for the extra sweetness. read more

First off when I walked in, both people at the front basically ignored me, I stood there for about 5 minutes with no one greeting me, and I was the only one standing at the door. When I got seated, the table and menus were sticky, which ok, I could understand that of you were busy, but there really wasn't anyone in there. The place just felt dirty. The waitress was nice for the 3 times we talked. I ordered the sweet tea for my drink and it tasted sour. I ordered the turkey plate for my dinner, the mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and stuffing were ok at best. The turkey was rubbery. I was very dissatisfied with this plate. I chose the meat lovers omelet minus the potatoes and the bread. Hooray for the keto diet, which is still working for me. It did not take very long to be prepared and arrived at the table still hot. They have Louisiana Hot Sauce at the table, which is a nice variety to the usual Tabasco. Our service was good. Stopped in on a Sunday at 11am for brunch and the wait was almost 40 minutes for two people. We were seated in a booth and it took another 10 minutes for someone to come over to greet us. Service ended up being good and food came out fairly quickly so that was a plus. Ordered the protein breakfast of eggs and 2 meats. Portion on the ham was smaller than i thought but overall everything was good. A friend ordered the waffle burrito with a side of fruit and she said it was excellent. I'm a Jacksonville Florida native and from my understanding unless my history is off but Metro diner originated there and my hometown I used to go to the one on Hendrix and then they build one out Roosevelt I did not feel as though the one at Roosevelt was as good as Hendrix and I now feel that way about the two Charlotte locations but it still gives me a home vibe so I am willing to stick with it anytime I'm in the mood but either way I would recommend the restaurant and hopefully you have something that catches your flavors attention and your experience could be far better than mine read more

Food has always been good at every visit . Last time in was laughable . I don't bring my phone into restaurants, this time I wish I had just so I could get a picture . She ordered the meatloaf dinner , it was great . I ordered the thanksgiving Turkey dinner . It looked like the server tripped as they were leaving the kitchen . It tasted fine , but as for first impressions it was a legitimate laughable sight . Most of the asparagus was together , then a couple were by the Turkey and a couple were in the mashed potato and gravy . The best part was the gravy thumb print on the edge of the plate . What a difference a few years make. When I first started going here the thing that got me was the size of their fish sandwich. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and you can find large fish sandwiches at a lot of places up there so to find a place that had something similar to that put a smile on my face. It was 5 years ago when I discovered Metro Diner. Everything was on point from the food to the customer Svc. Now I've been to Metro a few times but it was for breakfast but I would always look at the menu to see if they made any changes and I didn't see the fish sandwich on the menu but when I asked my server they always said they still have it. So the other day I have a craving for their fish sandwich so I make a trip to get it. Now my sever on this day I don't remember her name but her vibe was off like she didn't want to serve me or maybe she just didn't want to be there. That was the first red flag. The second red flag was when my fish sandwich arrived it did not look like it did the last time I ordered it and I have pics of both so you can see the difference. When my fish came out I was so pi$$ed I wanted to walk out the door but I sat there and ate it and even tipped the crabby server. Ended up here by accident but I'm glad I ate there. I got the chicken and waffles. The chicken was as juicy as fried chicken can get. Waffles were waffles which means they were good. I was surprised at how much chicken was on the plate (a wing, drumstick, thigh, and a breast). It was a lot for one person to eat. Can easily share that with another person. Service was good. Our waitress was always popping up when we needed her most. No real complaints. If I'm going to nik pik, I'll say the chicken could have had a little more seasoning but let's not go there. Love the Comfort Food. Chain out of Jacksonville FL and one of two locations in the Charlotte area. Third to open in Huntersville off Gilead before Thanksgiving. We had dined at the Pineville location several weeks earlier and were impressed so we decided to give it a try as well. My wife is not a breakfast fan so we time our arrivals so that she can get whatever she wants and I still have an option for breakfast if that is the direction I want to go. Pulled in, checked in and were told about 15 to 20 minutes. No problem and guess what, we were seated in about 10 minutes. Good service after we got seated. Looking over the menu, my wife ordered iced tea while I went with the Peach Flavored Tea. Both were very good. My wife surprised me. She who does not like fish or seafood other than crab, ordered a fish sandwich with a side of fruit. Double surprise in that she actually enjoyed the fish. Nice and moist, very flaky etc. Side of fruit was a nice treat also since it was more than just melon filler. I had the Chicken and Waffles and it was great although I will admit I have never had it served with Strawberry Flavored Butter. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to the Huntersville location witch is closer to our house. Generally very good except somewhat crowded but otherwise would recommend to any one who is willing to wait a bit. read more

This was my first visit to this Metro Diner location, and it did not disappoint! I met a friend for lunch and we had a short wait for a table for two due to COVID capacity limits. Our server was upbeat and friendly, and our orders came out very quickly and complete with specific requests accommodated. I always order my French fries well-done, borderline burnt and it is common for this request to go unfulfilled. Thankfully that was not the case during this visit. My chicken salad on wheat toast (the menu serves it on a croissant) tasted like it was homemade with hearty chunks of chicken meat, the right amount of celery to add texture without too much bitterness, and a few random red grape halves to give it a hint of sweetness - very well balanced. And my well-done fries and side order of yummy onion rings (because sometimes a gal shouldn't have to choose) left me both satisfied and stuffed! My friend enjoyed her Fish & Chips - said it was a definite "thumbs up"! My only criticism for this visit was the fact that the restaurant uses their back door as the exit, yet they did not make that clear nor were we told to exit through the rear, so we naturally walked through the dining area to the main door to leave just to be directed to walk back through the dining area again to exit the back door. I'm sure the point of that is to increase social distancing amongst the customers, but if you have to walk through the same area twice because your enter and exit strategies are not clear, that sort of defeats the purpose. As always (and I have been at this location many times) the food was excellent. The service was acceptable, until the check came. Don't remember ever having this issue before, but here is what happened. The total check was $15.68 so the change from a $20 should have been $4.32, but she only gave my companion $4. When we asked the waitress about it she admitted that she always rounds up if the customer is paying cash and wants change. I just wonder if her manager knows she is doing this and if other wait staff may also be. If they do then I think they need to rethink the policy, it is not customer friendly. read more
