Stopped for breakfast before Christmas tree shopping and was not so hungry, so when looking at the menu I came across a small biscuit with spicy honey chicken and OMG 3 eye rolls, almost an foodgasm ( you know how you roll in to the back of your head when you get close to having the other type of gasm) Crispy juicy chicken and light buttery biscuit, perfect little breakfast.\\ Other stuff on the menu attracted my attention as well especially the stuff chalked on the back wall. We stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday. It used to be a Wawa, so I was happy to see this opened in its place. There was a line out of the door, but the host said the counter was first come first serve. The server saw us coming and asked us to wait while she cleaned it for us. She finished quickly and was super friendly. I knew immediately I would be getting the chicken and waffles, and RJ ordered corned beef hash. This place was the real deal, we watched as they made it all from scratch. They used a thermometer for the chicken, which is why it was so perfectly juicy, and they chipped up the corned beef for the hash. My waffles were light and fluffy with strawberry butter. Editing review: First impressions mean a lot, but I have been here several times and I cannot keep 5 stars up. I will keep up my original review but so many times we waited for cold food, food dishes delivered separately (mom and I prefer to eat at the same time together), sometimes hard to track down our server, bathrooms not always clean, coffee a few times tasted weird (thankful waitress has replaced with tea). Well here is my original review: We stopped by last week not knowing they were brand new in town. The owner/manager let us know the grand opening was Tuesday July 25th, 2017. I was nervous about going since hearing they have multiple locations and soon a grand opening. The parking lot is hard to drive into if not from the area. The cross road just before it from Stanton Ogleton road will not let you make a left turn. So we turned around in the child daycare. If driving towards the hospital, you can easily turn right into it. What a cute, clean, modern "diner". I guess diner because you can order breakfast at any time? The layout seemed more like a family restaurant. When we arrived the line was out the door, and we were asked for a name and how many, then told the wait is an expected 35 minutes. There are benches outside and plenty of them. We were called within 20-25 minutes. I have to say, for a packed place, noise was not unbearable, and the overall smell was not too strong. Which told me someone must have put some thought into sound acoustics and ventilation! There are pictures of magazine and newspaper articles of their awards on the wall by the inside waiting area. Seats are offered in booths or tables, they could handle large groups. Maybe since it was opening day they hired extra workers? Well, either way they had no problem staying on top of everything given the crowd. We got there at 6:30pm, and their full menu was offered (didn't run out of anything). Specials are written on a back board, with soups/desserts/dinners. On to the food! What a great sounding menu, offering breakfast items such as (eggs Benedict, french toasts, omelets); lunch items (sandwiches, salads, burgers); and full dinners. I cannot wait to return..it was tough to decide on what to eat. My mom and I finally figured out our orders then we saw what the table next to us had as their choices were delivered and so we copied them. Mom ordered the chicken and waffles, and I chose the meatloaf dinner. Both were excellent! My mash potatoes with gravy came out cold, but didn't matter because my waitress and a manager had checked on us and with 1-2 minutes I had a new small bowl of hot ones. The zucchini/squash had a delicious light seasoning/oil on them and left al dente.. But they were perfect. I was so pleasantly surprised the food is made fresh and better than home made. I tasted the chicken and waffles which were also done to perfection. The chicken was juicy/hot that was breaded and fried. The Belgium waffles were fluffy, lightly toasted. They had a sugar free syrup for mom, and we declined the 7-8 drops of hot sauce they would normally add to the syrup. I also ordered a side of coleslaw.. Creamy kind, not pickled, not soggy or too crisp... Just another "perfect" food item. We also decided to stay for banana fosters cheesecake even though we were so full. Although I was hoping for actual banana fosters... Their cheesecake was flavored with it and bananas were baked in. I was happily surprised, it wasn't too sweet either. It was good, but I would pass next time. I would / will order the meatloaf again, but can't wait to try their other choices. Service was personable, our waitress was full of pep, with jokes and smiles.. (Given how busy they were, this tells me how well the restaurant is managed even on day 1). Came during their soft opening and during their opening day and I have to say that the food tasted SOOO much better during their opening day versus their soft opening! The first time around we ordered their shrimp and grits, which was really good, a pork sandwich, and their homemade corned beef hash, which I wouldn't recommend. But the second time around, we ordered their chicken and waffles, which is to die for, their man burger special, and their cream chipped beef, which was super yummy! I always like to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, especially if the restaurant just opened, and I'm really glad that I gave this place a second chance. Everything is as expected for a diner: quick setvice and good food. I had my favorite diner food: Western omlette. The surprise was the hash brown, which was like a potato pancake, perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It also has fried onions and peppers on top ($1 more.) I had their shark bait egg benedict and my sister had shrimp & grits. They were very generous with the salmon and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked (talk about runny egg yolk!!). I sampled my sister's shrimp & grits and they were very very creamy. Mmm!!! Based off the architecture of the building I expected the bathroom to be outdated but it actually pretty modern. Well I made the mistake of trying again to do take out. Guess what it is not being improved. You can only get a partial. Menu. You have to order online which is not at all convenient. It is a lot easier to call in on hands free in the fly. The order was not ready when I got there. Sorry and I know it's popular these day. Dear Metro Diner, I really wanted to like you, I did. I was excited when you opened. But three visits later I am less than impressed with breakfast food, lunch food and dinner food. Any good diner should have a wide selection of food in my opinion but this diner's menu is extremely limited comparatively. It's menu certainly doesn't even hold a candle to a traditional, right across the border, Jersey diner. But beyond that, the booths are uncomfortable hard seats, the food is mediocre at best (the last meal we had the ham in the sandwiches tasted funny and the Monte Cristo sandwich was on the soggy side and tasted of burned, old oil), and the atmosphere is nothing special. The manager was super friendly and came by to ask us about our food and tell us about the business and the quality of the food multiple times. We enjoyed the effort and the camaraderie. Metro Diner came up, not to say it's a hole in the wall, actually it's nice inside, so we decided to give it a try. So they have corn beef hash, cheesy Grits and scrapple. Bad Service, needs a lot of work. Summary: Sat for an entire hour+ without even a waiter or food... I get with covid theres understaffing, but this is basic stuff here.... Came in around noon-time, didn't look too busy, greeted, and offered a table. 20 minutes go by with no waiter/waitress, to even offer water or a chance to order. I had went to the restroom immediately when entering, so I can understand if that caused some confusion, so I did what I could and notified a nearby waitress, I was waiting and ready to order. She must have not done anything, because another 20 minutes goes by before I have to literally ask a completely different server who my waitress is, and why I haven't ordered yet. Apologies were given and I finally got a coffee in and told she would be with me shortly. In the next half and hour or so, I still have no waiter, had to ask the same guy to put in a order for chicken and waffles, because noone showed up. Good for this one server for actually doing his job and caring, probably deserves a raise compared to whoever I originally had. The last straw was when they notice me again and overhear that theres no order ready or even put in this whole time (ya'll really don't think customers do not notice whats going on..) Im a pretty patient guy but after over an hour to an hour and half of sitting, I have no official waiter/waitress, no food, and not even a order, done. I get up and leave money for my coffee. Don't deserve any tip but didnt feel like waiting for my $5 to be broken. This business is never getting my money again and from I can tell from other reviews, my type of experience is not the first. Finally! A place in and around the Ogletown Christiana Hospital area worth waiting to sit down, and worth waiting to eat. Where else are you going to sit down in this area and get a waffle that has a Peach compote? Friendly service, clean, smiling faces, showing up to ask me if I need anything not too soon or not too late but just on time. I had the sausage gravy and biscuits, and unlike most other places that do nothing but just put salty white gravy all over everything with a sausage flavor, this thing was packed with crumbled perfectly cooked sausage mixed in with a perfectly seasoned sausage gravy over fluffy fresh made biscuits. The only reason why I did not give this place five stars, is because they make the hash browns plentiful, but really thick almost like a brick, and each of the sides are brown and crispy and crunchy and wonderful but the centers were barely warm there was almost no seasoning and it was just kind of an overall bland. if they could tweak those hash browns then they would be a five-star hit out of the park I'll be back. read more

We were in town to do some shopping and are SO happy we chose to have dinner here. First, the food is delicious. We had the chicken and waffles (omg, the strawberry butter!), biscuits and gravy, the hash, and pancakes. The chicken was seasoned, juicy, and piping hot. The waffles were perfectly crisp yet airy and fluffy. The pancakes were huge and so soft! The hash was not salty and went perfectly with the eggs. Second, the service is awesome! Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and helpful with suggestions. The manager stopped by our table to say hello and ask how our meal was - and was genuine about making sure we were good. Hello Metro Delaware. On r way to Philly Airport, we decided to stop for breakfast recommended by a relative from Landenberg, PA. For a rainy Monday morning, it was busy and no problem with a 10 mins wait. Food was very good, love the Jamaican coffee and the service was very friendly.
