The restaurant was very busy for lunch and it had very little parking spaces available, inside the staff was working hard to keep tables clean and seat customers quickly, had the metro club with coleslaw and it was delicious and filling, great spot for brunch read more

I needed a quick, good meal so I went to Metro Diner. We had about 45 minutes to get in and out and they didn't disappoint. I had the Eggs Benedict and my niece had the Shepherd's Pie. They were both excellent. They were packed and we had to sit on the patio so I was worried that we might have to get it to go. We had our food within 10 minutes of walking in the door. We made it where we needed to go thanks to their quick service. I highly recommend Metro Diner if you want a good meal and great service. read more

Every time food is either cold, undercooked, greasy, etc. Today I went in for fish fry special... I hope I don't get sick from it!!! Fish was pink inside. Obviously GROSSLY undercooked. Fries were SOAKED in oil. Mac and cheese cold. I am not sure WHY they cook in such a hurry!!!! My food NEVER comes right the first time. Last weekend I asked for chicken tenders... again cold and undercooked. Fries were soaked on brown oil that POURED with each bite. Waiting staff are nice and friendly.... but their food is NOT GOOD. I never do these reviews, but I wanted to relay this experience I had. I am traveling through Florida on an extended road trip to the Magic Kingdom and I was told that I really need to try a Pub Sub from Publix, but the line was far too long so I stopped by the Metro Diner in Orange Park on Sunday. Kris was my server, and she was a DELIGHT! I can't say enough good things about her! The place was busy, as I expected since it was Sunday brunch time, but Kris was so friendly and personable--such a great interaction for a lonely solo traveler. I got the San Francisco Benedict. It was fabulous, and the hash brown additions that Kris suggested just made my meal! If y'all ever opened in Ohio, I'd be a regular! read more

The food was great! We got Avocado toast loaded with feta, bacon, red onions and eggs and eggs benedict. The eggs were just right. There could have been more meat in the portions but everything was cooked perfectly. The service was amazing, drinks refilled right away and very cheery and prompt, ty Ashley. It was kinda slow around 4pm on June 9th. When we got there we were seated straight away. The hostess sat me and my daughter in back room on right. After at least 10 mins I peak my head around the corner. To see 2 servers debating smoothies for themselves and cook staff at the food warming area. I Let them know we were there, server was sweet did get our order in promptly. Yet the Food took a while to come out for lack of active diners (2 tables), manager greeted us with the server. The Food was ok this time, the waffle was light fluffy, but the turkey plate and cornbread a little dry, like maybe it had been sitting under warmers. Stopped in here with a bunch of people I was working with at the time up in JAX and had a great dinner. Of course one of the guys starts talking up the huge pulled pork & waffles & mac & cheese meal and going on and on about it. So, that's what I ordered! Came to this location to pick up a rather large order. I had the chicken/waffles, chicken dinner w/ sauteed veggies and mash/gravy, kids grilled cheese and fries, side a Mac/cheese, and the shrimp & grits. The waffles with the strawberry butter was a hit. I enjoyed the spicy syrup which gave the waffle a hit. This is probably the only thing I did enjoy about that entree. When I tried to break apart the wing it was like trying to split the yellow pages with your bare hands. When I finally broke it apart it was pink in the middle. I proceeded to open all of the chicken and saw that all my pieces were pink. My granny opened her chicken and SAME, pink. The sauteed veggies were just squash and zucchini which were not flavorful. The macaroni and cheese were not as good as what I would expect a 4.6 rated restaurant would be. The shrimp and grits were actually good though. Nice flavor and the grit cake was a great addition. If I come back here it will be strictly for the waffles and if I'm ordering chicken here I'm getting it extra crispy to guarantee no pink is present. I was not a satisfied customer today. read more

Also, their strawberry butter, yes it's butter, adds a unique flavor to your waffles. My second on my go to list is their French Toast. The Jax Famous Metro Diner that EVERYONE I've talked to just loves! I just knew I was up for a great memory upon entering, and their customer service gave me just that. I was greeted, seated and waited on promptly and with a smile. I give them 5 stars for their customer service for sure. But..... I'm here for the food this go around! I ordered the steak with over medium eggs, cheese grits and a biscuit. They don't have ribeye like the menu said, it's NY Strip and I would've preferred the ribeye. My steak had no flavor, but everything else was good. I ordered him a biscuits and gravy to go and even though the biscuits were fantastic the gravy tasted like spiked can gravy. I don't really know what all the fuss was about with this place but I have to go back because my coworkers and I are going next weekend. Honestly....
