I've been to multiple nail salons in the area since moving to Rhode Island, and metro nails is now my favorite. The vibe is very no frills, which I appreciate. They offer a wide variety of services, and I was able to get a same day appointment. My nail tech, Rohr, gave me exactly what I asked for. She was able to fix a bad set I got at a different salon, shaving them down where they were too thick and uneven, and reshaping them to give me the shape I wanted. I will definitely be coming back.

Service was great I was a walk in and they took me very quickly. The lady who was giving me my pedi/manicure was very kind but I did notice the tools she used on my toes weren't very sanitary. It wasn't even in the alcohol. I should've known because now my toe infected and leaking pus. My first and my last time coming here.

Metro Nails is my go-to nail spot in Providence. I've been living here for about a year and tried other salons -- they just don't compare. The gel manicures I've gotten here last more than two weeks with the same glossiness and without any chips. Regardless of the manicurist, I've always been happy with the results. I'm kind of addicted to this place; I used to do my own manicures at home but now it's just too tempting to just go to Metro. :) I usually stop by in the early afternoon on weekdays (without making an appointment beforehand) and have been immediately seated (no wait). The staff is really great at removing gel manicures without tearing of layers of my real nails, as has happened to me at other places. They are really quick. A gel manicure usually takes less than an hour. Service is great. Some manicurists are more talkative than others, but they're all really friendly! A gel manicure is $23 with my $2 student discount -- very affordable! They only accept cash tips, but even if you don't have cash on-hand you can withdraw some from their ATM. I highly recommend this place to others, especially for a gel manicure. It's worth it!

Very nice staff, accommodating, and skillful. I'm not someone who is an expert at nails or gets them done regularly. But I like getting something simple done every now and then. I've been here a couple times for a gel manicure on my natural nails. Mind you, my natural nails are pretty thin, break easily and not much to work with, but they manage to make them look beautiful. They listen and are willing to work with your preferences too. Highly recommend.

Metro is by far one of my favorite salons. They are very friendly and did my nails exactly like my pinterest photo, lol. Highly recommend.

Walked in on a Monday afternoon and only had a 20ish min wait without an appointment. Had a great mani and pedi combo (just regular polish). Both technicians were amazing, thorough and friendly service! They accept credit cards and have scannable QR codes to accept virtual tip payments on Cashapp and Venmo. I will definitely be coming back :)

I needed some me-time before my baby arrives...and also I cannot reach my toes. This place was a lifesaver and made my feet feel glorious after the spa pedicure. My gel manicure was very thorough and came out awesome. The workers are kind and they listen to what you want. The woman who did my nails asked multiple times if I liked the color/shape before proceeding. I loved that! There seems to be lots of regulars that come here and for good reason. The place is very busy. I'd recommend making an appointment to avoid having to wait for a walk-in. The only negative is that I really wished they showed/explained to you how to use the massage chairs because it would've been nice to actually enjoy the chair. The whole time I was just trying to figure out how to recline the chair without it giving me a very hard and uncomfortable punching massage. Perhaps a quick little explanation would be helpful. I had asked how to recline and she did it for me with the controller but the chair wouldn't stay for me if I wanted the massager on at the same time. Perhaps it's just me though, or the particular chair I was in. Be sure to bring cash for a tip because they can't do tips off a card. I've yet to find a nail salon in the area that is clean, affordable, and does a good job. This met all criteria (cleanliness is VERY important and they take it seriously for sure). Can't wait to come back!

I was 15min late to a same day appointment because I was coming from Seekonk so when I arrived to see how crazy busy the salon was on a Friday afternoon, I changed from pedicure to manicure. I said this upon arrival so nothing had been set up for the pedicure, and they were insanely busy anyways, so this helped them get to others who were waiting. But what shocked me unpleasantly was they had me done in less than 20 minutes, drying included. My friend sat to the left of me getting the same exact simple manicure, using a halal polish we both brought to the salon. Her nail tech was gentle, thorough, massaged lotion into her hands, steamed her hands with a towel, and very clean. My nail tech was aggressively rushing to get through my hands, ridiculed me for having short nails that she "couldn't do anything with" and made my cuticles bleed. She pointed at my middle fingers saying "you have cuts" but she caused them when she trimmed my cuticles without paying attention. She hardly disinfected the tools she used. She did not use lotion on my hands nor steam my hands with a towel like my friend got. She painted over the lines and used way too much alcohol to fix her awful precision. She warned me that it will sting because of "your cuts." She charged my credit card without telling me the amount and didn't provide a receipt because "you have a tap (credit) card." When I requested my receipt from another nail tech, my friend and I were bewildered that we were charged the same price for two wildly different experiences. My friend was shocked at what she was seeing me get right next to her own experience and it took us a while to process the whole situation. I'm not sure if I was being punished for having short nails or arriving late (even though my friend repeatedly notified them I was coming soon and they said it was totally fine) or if my nail tech was having a bad day but a salon should be relaxing, and at least give you nice hands. I left what felt like a hostile work environment with bloody cuticles and a below-average manicure, hardly a color change if that. I won't be coming back to say the least.

I've been coming to Metro Nails for a few years. They're clean and very professional. I normally see a different tech every time I go. They all do a great job which is why I've been coming here for so long. The past few weeks, however, I've discovered a hidden gem of a tech who is not only great at what she does, but is a pleasure to talk to. Jennifer has been my tech this summer and I honestly won't trade her for anything! She's sweet and attentive and full of patience with my already complicated self. Im extremely indecisive and I tend to stick to what I know. Well, this summer, she's certainly broadened my horizons with my choice of colors, and today, I left with a beautiful, neutral pink, dip manicure. I had never done dip before but she suggested it after having removed acrylics myself and having some pretty bad ridges on my nails. Im so happy with the outcome and my newly discovered love for the dip powder. I hope Metro Nails is aware of how amazing Jennifer is and how lucky they are to have her. As long as she's there, I'm a happy customer. Thank you, Jennifer, for breaking my out my "nail shell" and opening up a whole new world of colors and experiences! Very nice people there. Clean and quiet. I was a walk in client. My nails came out very nice. The owner takes her time and asks if there's anything you don't like that she can fix it. I don't normally have my nails done so I am happy to have stumbled upon this place read more

The gentleman with whom I made my appointment by phone was very polite. The ladies who work there sometimes speak loudly to each other, which can be a bit annoying. This place is just fine. Certainly, a renovation or a cleaning would help so that a restful atmosphere could be created. Also, this particular place does not accept card payments, only cash. They never give customers receipts. 3/10 read more

Great nail place! I was in the area and decided to come here. I showed the lady (who I think was the owner) a reference photo of what I wanted, and she absolutely killed it. I paid $65, which was extremely reasonable. She took her time as well and did not rush my manicure even though she had a lot of customers that day. Would love to come back in the future, and I definitely recommend this place. read more

Two days after receiving a shellac, thumbnail started to peel; rushed through nail session. Returned the next day for them to fix. The lady who fixed my nail said it was because my nails were too short. I keep my nails the same length all the time and told her when I went there in September, my shellac lasted for almost a month. I had the pleasure of visiting this sweet spot. I got an acrylic full set w/ gel polish ($41) and a pedicure w/ regular polish ($25). It was done by the amazing Jennifer. Although, I didn't have an appointment I was seen rather quickly. I recommend making an appointment, it's just easier. The shop is small but cozy. I had a wonderful conversation with Jennifer, she was so great to talk to I didn't even realize it only took a little under an hour to do my nails. She also did my pedicure which came out great. I definitely will be returning to Jennifer soon! read more

High quality services for very reasonable prices. They are fast too, I had a spa pedicure and gel manicure done in a little less than one hour. Other places I've been take nearly two hours for the same services. I'm always happy with my nails after coming here. Location is good too, plenty of street parking nearby and it's close to downtown. read more

Came here on a whim last week per the suggestion of my friend (and fellow Yelper) who came in a week before to get acrylics for the holidays. This was my third visit here and I was looking for New Year's inspired look. I've enjoyed the service here at Metro Nails in past visits (previously a Brown U student) so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. They offer chrome nails--I chose a beautiful rose gold chrome look with acrylics. Rainy (although I'm not sure if that is the correct way to spell her name) was my technician and did a fabulous job on my nails! She was very detail-oriented, making sure all my nails were even and consistent. She continuously checked in with me about the length and made sure to do a great job! Only a small thing, as a previous Yelper mentioned, was that my cuticles were not pushed back so it makes my nails look ever so slightly grown out--however, I'll be sure to point that out next time. I've gotten so many compliments on my nails since getting them done last week! Highly recommend! Ask for Rainy! She'll be sure to do an amazing job. read more

I called the salon as I was asked to and they were not only friendly but accommodating. I had to wash my hands and wear a mask as I walked in, great! I got a gel mani (perfect job) and a regular pedi (awesome job). I hope to return. read more

New to Rhode Island so I depend on my yelp for good reviews on things especially nails! First time coming to metro nails and I was impressed. Came in right when they opened, and got seated immediately, color chosen and all!! And a clean area! Jennifer my tech did such a good job! And fast! 35 mins! But then again I came in right when they opened so maybe on a busy day be a hour or so, which is a still not bad! All in all, everything went so good! Will definitely be coming back and recommend for sure! read more

No complaints. I've only gotten pedicures done here but they are very reasonably priced and do a good job. My heels actually get very smooth too after whatever they do. Sometimes when I get pedicures and they just grate my feet, it doesn't get smooth, but rather stays rough. The place is small but they've been requiring masks which has been a comfort. read more

RACIAL PROFILING - (Woman of color) Today I went to Metro Nails for the first time with my fiancé. We both got Manicures and Pedicures. In the middle of service the woman who was doing my hands asked me to pay before she finished... I was a bit taken aback by this. I literally responded "Is this normal?", which she didn't respond to. It was so abrupt. My fiancé, who is white, was the one who planned to pay so I had to interrupt their session. Literally 5 minutes later a white woman finished her session and went up to pay. She quickly realized that she had forgotten her wallet in her car and asked if she could run to get it. The clerk immediately responded to her "No problem, I trust you". My fiancé and I looked at each other thinking the same thing. It was comical but not funny at all what so ever. I then realized that when we first came in there was a white male who paid after his session as well. Its terrible how people are. You'd think people would be more careful with their thoughts and views when they own a business. I will not be returning because of their treatment and also the work done was mediocre. What a shame. read more

My feet are sore from how aggressively they pumiced my feet and the SOFT part of my feet.. she scrubbed my toes so hard one of them is now scraped and bleeding. I also left still entirely covered in scrub granules that were just slathered in lotion..... I thought a $20 pedi was too good to be true but the reviews were so good!! Turns out it was too good to be true because the website info is false. It was $30. read more

Metro is my go to nail place and I have always been happy with their services. Currently you need an appointment to get in but they are very flexible. I love the gel manicure, it lasts a lot longer and they do a really good job. It has been significantly quieter due to Covid but I prefer that because they used to get VERY BUSY and it would be packed in there. The staff is very friendly and the salon is clean. read more

Let me put it this way: there are three nail salons within walking distance of my home, and instead I choose to drive the ten minutes to go to Metro Nails. I search for parking on Wickenden, which alone can attest to the excellence of their manis and pedis. Simply put, they're that good. I'll admit, my first experience at Metro wasn't great. It wasn't particularly bad, but I can't say I thrilled with the end result. Also, it was before they moved into this bright, clean, fresh and spacious new salon, which is as warm and welcoming as someone's home. They do a thorough job and my nails look absolutely perfect. They also happen to be extremely friendly, sweet and professional which, coupled with their efficiency makes it even more of a pleasure. All of this and a mani & pedi for $30? You bet I'm sold. read more

Really friendly stuff! had to wait 30 minutes for my appointment, but I called for it last minute on sunday, can't be mad. good choice of colors. had my gel nails with gel polish done in an hour. full set was only $43 ($70-$90 in newport). I think they did a great job, nails looking good. will be back for sure. I returned back for gel fill in a couple of weeks, beautiful nails again, Jenny was really nice and paid attention to details. I'm so happy I found them, bringing a friend next time. read more

I've found my new nail spot in Providence and I couldn't be happier! The women that work at Metro Nails are all very friendly and do an amazing job. It is THE spot to get a manicure or pedicure. If you're a student, they even offer a student discount. Even if you're not a student and you feel like being pampered, but don't want to break the bank, look no further. Everything they use is clean and they seem to actually care if you have a good experience. A regular full shellac manicure with no discount is $30. I haven't had to make an appointment because I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes. I'll surely be back every few weeks to update my manicure! read more

Best deal around: $30 for a mani AND pedi plus $2 discount with student ID. The ladies are always friendly, though I wish they had more polish colors to choose from. Don't go if you're in a rush. Getting the mani/pedi combo usually takes me 2 hours, but I enjoy taking that time out. When it's busy, it's kind of place where the customers are friendly and chat with each other. read more

The experience I had here was beyond great. I was skeptical when I saw the amount of people in the shop (so crowded), but I was seen right at 6:15, which was when I made my appointment for. Everyone was friendly and I was greeted when I walked in. I got a pedicure and a gel manicure. The woman who did my nails was so attentive and kind. She took her time and fixed any mistake she made. There was no rushing at all. She made sure my nails looked the best. The gel manicure is by far the best I have ever gotten. I had read online that they close at 7:00, so I assumed I would be rushed out of the shop as soon as it hit 7, but instead the woman doing my nails took her time, made sure I was comfortable and did an absolutely perfect job on my nails. My toes and fingers look awesome and I will not go anywhere else to get my nails done now! I do recommend making an appointment because it is busy. read more

Jenny has been doing my daughters nails for a couple months now. Everywhere we go, she receives compliments on her stiletto nails! Even our recent trip to NYC, people asked what nail salon/spa we had them done in. Jenny does amazing, precise work. She shows attention to all details!! Today was my turn. I have a usual spot that I go to but my friend wanted to go here because she has had a good experience with them. We were seen right away, I got a mani/pedi and I can't say I'm happy with the results. First, when she was cutting my cuticle, she ended up cutting me and I started to bleed. Yes, she was apologetic and didn't continue to cut the rest. I didn't like that she said she cut me because my cuticle was to thin. I have been getting my nails done for years and no one else has ever had an issue with my cuticles. To make things worse, they're website says once price but she charged me differently. Whatever lady I just want to leave. Insult to injury, the polish is already bubbled on my thumb nail and my forefinger nail chipped last night (I got my nails done that afternoon). Are you kidding me?! I don't have time to go back to get it fixed and honestly I shouldn't have to. It should've been done right the first time. Needless to say, I won't be back here ever again. I'll stick with my usual spot. read more

Went to get an acrylic fill, told my nail tech one nail had a crack in it. She told me it was fine, did the fill without fixing it and my nail broke 6 hours later. Had gotten a fill purposely before family event and needed to get it fixed at a different salon! read more

Horrible staff. Horrible job. I've gone here twice and both times my nails have broken in less than a week because their cheap with the powder. They are worried about saving the acrylic powder than giving us a proper base nail. They suck at shaping. Even painting nails. And it's impossible to breath, DOESNT seem like they have proper venting. read more

A couple of friends and I have been trying different local nail salons for months now. Each time at least one of us was unhappy with the result. Metro nails is the first place we have all been happy every time we have come! These ladies are very nice, hardworking, and can do almost any nail design you want!! They take time on each nail and make sure you are completely satisfied before you leave! They are very busy, so make sure to make an appointment, especially if there is more than one of you going! read more

I cannot stop singing the praises of this spot. Every time I go, the nail technicians are so careful and do an amazing job. I can tell that they really take pride in their work. They're talented at designs and always have the newest machines for gel and shellac. I think that getting an appointment is always a good idea, but I've never had trouble walking in, with the exception of prom season. They always seem to find a way to fit people in. You might not be able to sit next to your best friend for a manicure or pedicure, but it's so relaxing that you'll forget all that "important talk" you needed to have in the first place. I highly recommend getting gel or shellac here over traditional manicures. It costs twice as much but lasts at least twice as long and you won't have to go in as often. Plus, gel and shellac are completely dry when your manicure is over, so there's no pesky wait time under a fan at the end. Keep up the good work, ladies! read more

Aside from the lack of parking(which is why 4 stars), i am overall happy with how my nails turned out. i got acrylic gel set and a pedicure with regular polish all for roughly 70$. usually people charge 100+. love how my nails turned out. i'll definitely come back read more

Allow me to gush about this place a little. Based on the great reviews, my girl friend and I decided to give this place a try. We both went for the Spa Mani/Pedi for $30. Good deal. No regrets at all. The ladies here did a fantastic job. From start to finish it took almost two hours, but they were really meticulous. We weren't pressed for time and it was a wholly relaxing experience. Our nail techs, Thyda and Sokeng, were very courteous. Sokeng even offered to paint a little flower design on two of my fingers (no extra charge.) Very cute, nice touch. (Pictures posted!) Metro Nails is located on the corner of Hope and Wickenden Streets. If you aren't familiar with Providence, this is a charming historical neighborhood dotted with great restaurants and a few eclectic shops. Sakura (Japanese/sushi), as well as The Duck and Bunny (a self proclaimed "snuggery" / cupcake cafe) are walking distance away. Street parking is free and easy. If you are shopping around for a nail salon, make sure you try this one! read more

Had made appointments as soon as they opened for later on in the day I was greeted with attitude as soon as we walked through the door waited over a half hour to be seated in a chair to get started for a full set I asked for a matte finish and coffin shape I also asked for them extremely short because I do go longer in between fillings and I tape at work she laughed at me and told me it wouldn't look right and proceeded to do what length she wanted. Halfway through I asked if there was a possibility of having a glow in the dark topcoat she said yes and I told her I would love that instead of plain matte She said okay and never used The glow in the dark but charged me for it and the actual nail and cuticle so far apart I will probably go get a fill in another week and I just went yesterday... not to mention theyre very bumpy. when I tried to put my card in the ATM at ate my card and when I asked for a pair of tweezers or pliers to get it out because my hands were oily and they kept yelling at me not to touch the machine even though my hands were not on the machine my friend and I came here for a girls day while she is in town for business It was not enjoyable we felt like we were inconveniences and I will never go again. Wow!! Like all good Yelpers, when you need to know something, you check Yelp first, and I needed to know where an out-of-towner gets a pedicure in Providence. The verdict was obviously Metro Nails, and the mention in one of the reviews that I could book online clinched the deal for me. I Googled for the site, got to see what each pedicure included, how long it lasted, how much, etc and then booked it. An e-mail confirmation came right away, as well as a reminder the night before. IMMACULATE salon, lots of colors to choose from (although I brought my own) and everyone was soooooo nice. The girl who made me feet look spring-ready is named Ros (I think) and did an amazing job on the cuticles too. For $25, my feet are ready for this amazing March weather... bring on the flip-flops! read more

I typically request an appointment online and despite doing so unless it is early in the morning the appointment always runs much longer than necessary due to how busy they are. I'm not sure if it is due to overbooking or just allowing too many walk-ins, but I have definitely had to wait over 20 minutes for an appointment I made in advanced which is unacceptable. Charming nail is one of the only salons in the area which offers dazzle dry, but the consistency of the service is all over the place. Some technicians follow the dazzle dry procedures perfectly which results in a long lasting manicure, but others don't and my nails chip less than 24 hours after being done. This is frustrating when I'm spending $30 plus tip for something that doesn't last. Especially when I'm getting nails done for a special event. Overall the vibe of the salon is good and the people are nice, but I do hope this lapse in recent service rectifies itself so that I can feel confident in going back.

I really like Metro Nails and their staff! They do a great job with mani's and pedi's. Girls who do acrylics here are terrific too! Jenny and Nahvy are great! It's extremely busy at this salon and I guess that's why they hired a receptionist full time. Lol But that's a plus because unlike other salons around the area, the receptionist here takes care of a lot of the customer service and helps to speed up the services. Now, the colors... there are lots of color selections for the polishes and that is AMAZING for me since I love trying different things! I don't recall a salon recently that has that many gel and regular polishes at my disposal. lol Anyway, the services are good and the staff is friendly. Initially, I didn't think much of the small space but the staff is knowledgable, they do good work, and all are very pleasant and funny. I think the place can be a bit loud only because it gets sooooo busy that the amount of people in the small area just overtakes the salon at times. Despite that, they are still a good reliable place to go to for a decent mani or pedi... or both! Overall, great job done and they are very efficient. Today the lady who did my nails progressively got moody for no reason. There was some miscommunication about the matte nail polish even though someone translated for her. This is the "matte" that she gave me which was actually nail strengthener. My nails had so many coats of "matte" topcoat and regular topcoat so they messed up so easily and she refused to HAND me nail polish remover after I simply asked.
