I went with my gf to get a pedicure here and we walked in, waited 5 minutes, and got started right away. Pros: I would say it's never too busy so you can always seem to expect to be able to get a walk in spot. They also do Gels and really friendly. Cons: the lady at the desk when I went was not ignoring us a bit. She was distracted talking in her phone or texting people. My gf and I also started at different times and ended at different times which meant we didn't get to talk and sit next to eat other the whole time. All the employees were very nice and welcomed me when I walked through the door. The girl who did my nails took her time and when she was doing my cuticles she was very gentle. Places that I've gone to before are rough and try to rush the process. I'm very happy with my visit and this will now be my go-to nail salon. I just recommend making an appointment because it gets kinda busy. I didn't make one and had to wait around 30-45 minutes. I had passed Metro at least 100 times while on other east side adventures, but figured like most things on that side of the city that they would be over-priced. But when a friend recommended them I had to check them out. Called an hour before on a Sunday to check their hours and was given an appointment right away. Turns out they were pretty busy even for a Sunday afternoon. The staff was friendly and my tech was able to keep my nails the shape I wanted. (some places give me a hard time because I wear my nails in a stiletto shape) Sina was awesome!! I was able to get an Express Pedi and a fill with art for what I was paying just for a fill. I decided to give them another try and get shellac manicure the service was ok. The manicurist started to go a bit deep on my cuticles which caused some blood. I let her know and she was more careful. My nails looked great, however less than a week later and I am started to see the tips of my nail and a little crack. I really am unclear how this nail salon has such a high rating, for one the pedicure menu on their website does not align with what they offer in-house. They are completely unsanitary, the pedicure tubs are not lined in plastic and I didn't realize until I was halfway through, because this is a standard sanitary procedure at nail salons at this point and they do not have their tools soaking in barbicide or in a sanitization bag. The nail tech rushed the pedicure the shaping and paint job was sloppy and when I told her that's not what I was looking for she proceeded to tell me that isn't what I needed based on my foot. Overall this is not a 4 star nail salon, but I am just used to a different caliber of pedicure experience and this was lack luster pedicure and a waste of money. The actual manicure itself was actually pleasant. I give the star for the fact that I didn't bleed, she was gentle and the job was well done- for two days. Here is a photo of two days later and the shellac is already rising and chipping. In the two days I have not had my hands in water for too long or done anything intense (no cleaning or long baths). I made an appointment well in advance to show up and have to wait 20 minutes. On a day without having somewhere to get to, it may be okay. But with things to do and thinking I planned ahead by making an appointment, bad start. So not only was I late to where I needed to be and rushed my day afterwords but it was also a complete waste of money. They treated my 4 year old daughter so special when we went in to get her nails done on Christmas Eve (her special treat for being good and taking all her medicine after an ear infection.) I havent been to a good place to get my nails done since I've been in the East Coast. All the places I've been to claim to be cheap, but when I get there the prices are insane and the job is whatever. Metro Nails, on the other hand, is a whole other story. This place is actually cheap and the quality of work done is amazing. Carol was the woman who did my nails. She was very sweet and professional. While doing my nails, she would try to start a conversation or ask if I like what she is doing. You don't get that often. Usually people just do your nails and let you do, but goodness, Carol did an amazing job. When Carol was doing my hands, she cut the side of my skin too deep so it started bleeding. It wasn't a lot, so I really didn't care, but she kept on apologizing and said she felt really bad and took a long time to mend the wound (which is what you're suppose to do...). I got an acrylic fill on 4/10 at 10am. She did a good job, I loved the color and shape. At 11pm on 4/10, one of my nails completely came off. A fill usually last me 3-4 weeks. This one barely lasted 24 hours. Like are you kidding me?? I am leaving for a trip tomorrow I don't have time to go back and get it fixed and honestly I shouldn't have to. I'm very picky when it comes to nail salons. I've had the same nail technician for 4 years, and after moving to providence it became very much out of the way. After trying several shops in providence, Metro Nails is now my go to. I've been coming here for over a year now. My regular technician is So, and if she happens to not be available I see Ross who is also great. I come every two weeks (my nails grow fast, others would probably last an additional week) for my gel manicure and a pedicure every 4-6 weeks. Not only is she great, my nails stay looking great majority of the time for the entire two weeks and I work with my hands. She is quick, in a good way! They have a great color selection. They have a lot of girls working. They are very clean despite not being the fanciest of shops. And the prices are reasonable. $28 for a gel manicure I believe. Tip: make an appointment, this place being so good means it's very busy! They are all friendly and will do their best to get you in! read more

DO NOT GET DIP DONE OR REMOVED HERE. Overall they're a fine salon for gel or paint but service is hit or miss. I had gel done for my wedding a while back and it was perfection and the tech was amazing. This most recent time, they rushed and the tech was incredibly distracted. She was so busy talking during my pedicure she cut my toenail so short it bled (I treated with antibiotic cream at home to be safe) and she neglected to trim my cuticles. Specific to the dip, I had dip on my fingers and instead of soaking the nails longer she took a buffer and scrapped off the extra dip.And she did it so aggressively that I could feel a strong, almost burning heat in my nail beds. Currently, my nails are so thin and weak that they're sensitive to the touch. They were completely filed away! I've talked with other people who get dip regularly and this is not supposed to happen when dip is removed properly. My visit to Metro Nails was pretty subpar. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside and there is not a lot of room to move around at peak hours. I was debating between getting black or a neon yellow/green nail color but they didn't have any neon yellow or green options. I was also surprised to find out that their regular express pedicure doesn't include cuticle care. That's basically paying for a nail trim and polish... I can do that myself at home for free. I could tell that the worker I had was new because she forgot to put base coat and then another worker came over, took off my polish, and did it all over again. I was having a nice visit and then my cuticle was cut to bleeding. The tech noticed tried wiping it away to finish applying the paint and then gave up and let it bleed until it spilled on the disposable sandal. Nobody came to help me clean it up at the end of my visit and I was left looking for something to clean the blood and somewhere besides the bin at the drying station to toss the sandals so nobody else had to touch them. I was from out of town and had an event that evening and needed my nails painted. I waited about 15 minutes until someone was able to do my nails. The color was nice but the nail polish was chipping the next day and almost completely off by Friday. most manicures i have ever had have lasted longer than 2 days. Came here in February but finally getting around to posting this review. Long story short, I wasn't thrilled. I had an appointment for 12:30 but when I showed up, 4 other people were allowed to go ahead of me and I still waited around 40 minutes to be seated. I am assuming those people were waiting ahead of me but still, I had an appointment. The girl at the counter had no idea about the gel "Luxury" pedicure and "Metro Signature Pedicure" when I asked her if it was worth the $15 extra and what the difference was, she said "I don't know, I've never had it done but you can read it" (as she pointed to the wall). Ok... well I had just read it and I couldn't figure it out. One has a cool gel and wax booties, one doesn't? I finally decide on "the second most expensive one" (as in, not the most expensive, but the one right under that). This was very confusing to the girl at the counter, as she told the person doing my nails that I wanted the most expensive pedicure. I had to keep telling them, "no, not the most expensive one, the one right above it"... (as I couldn't recall the name in the moment) This really caused alot of confusion and I should've gotten up out of the chair and read the name off the chart for them but at that point, my feet were in bubbling water. The girl who did my nails was very very nice, but truly had no idea as to what was included in the Luxury pedicure. She had to keep asking other people what else she needed to use and then people were going in the back room trying to dig out the extra things necessary (callus eliminator, oil etc) I found out later that she doesn't work there and was just filling in for the day and that made more sense because for a while there I was just confused. The nails came out nice but two nails peeled right off within 24 hours of the pedicure, presumably because of the oil not being fully removed from the nails before the gel was applied? I didn't bother going back for repair because my time was worth more than that so I just repainted the nails with regular polish. read more

I love Metro! I've been going for about a year now and go pretty consistently every 2 weeks. I try to stick to a week day (they're open until 7) mainly because it gets pretty crowded on the weekend. You get a different girl every time for the most part but they're all pretty great. However yesterday I went and surprisingly had a girl I've never gotten before and she did AMAZING. It's the best gel I've ever received , she took her time and put a lot of effort into my nails. Unfortunately she didn't have a name tag on ( most do ) and I forgot to ask her name! For a girl who has lived on the East Side of Providence for the better part of a decade, I can honestly say that I have frequented most of the nail salons that Providence's East Side has to offer. That being said, Metro Nails is my "hands down" (pun intended) favorite spot. The ladies there are incredibly kind, remember me and my family, and their work is by far the best on the East Side. Their technique of polishing somehow holds up, where as other places I have visited have flaked off or chipped within a few hours. Their massage chairs are always top notch, they have a TV on in the pedicure area so you can chill out and watch a little bit of Ellen or whatever they have on, and they have a great selection of polishes. Parking can be a little difficult if Wickendon Street is busy, and I would always recommend calling ahead, as this little gem is NO secret! Very unpleasant & unprofessional experience. I was getting a gel mani and pedi. My cuticles all have paint on them still. When my ride arrived she was walking in to wait for me & one of the employees slammed the door closed in her face and turned the open sign to show they are closed. She then spoke to the rest of the staff in their language and they all just kept laughing. The woman doing my nails and feet was very rude as well. While I was on my phone texting I must not have paid attention for her so she grabbed my foot and slammed it down aggressively. She didn't speak to me at all or even ask me how my day was going.
