My first time dining here. Absolutely excellent. I got my food to go and ate in my hotel at the Sheraton across the street. Service was fast but food was amazing. Black Rice and Beans were not dry and tasted well. The fried plantains were thick and tasty. The pork chop was cooked well and tasted perfect. Stuffed Avocado - Grouper Avocado stuffed with Grouper. This is the biggest avocado I have ever seen in my entire life! Makes me feel some kind of way that back home we pay $2-3 for that b!tch a$$ little one. Smh. I tried Grouper to branch out my fish palate and was not disappointed. Flavorful and perfectly cooked. This location has poorly trained staff, honestly it needs an overhaul on customer service skills. Our waitress, I don't even remember her name that is how much of an impact she made. NONE!! This was probably my second favorite restaurant that I went to during a week long trip to PR. This place is a good mix of both Puerto Rican and Cuban flare. I got the chicken with traditional Cuban rice and beans. I'm not lying when I say these black beans were the best I've ever had. I would come back here just for the beans. This is a good spot for a fair price with lots of decent food. We both got the ropa vieja which is nice and juicy with flavor and it comes with 2 sides- I chose rice and beans as one and the other was tostones. I wouldn't say it was the truest most authentic- but it gets the job done and doesn't break the bank. The server was always around if we needed her and was very patient with us. The Metropol at The Sheraton in San Juan is a great Cuban/Puertorrican restaurant. No frills, no tablecloth nor luxuries but the service is good and the food is tasty. The portions are healthy and sometimes depending on how hungry you are, you can share. The general manager is a young man very interested in making the service great. Really enjoyed my meal at this Metropol location. I asked the waiter for a seafood recommendation. He said the halibut was great. Sold! I ordered the halibut (Filet De Rodaballo, $26.99) and it came with a few sides. The waiter recommended the Puerto Rican rice and it was very flavorful. The beans and flavorings were mixed in, very well done. Not sure if I've ever tried halibut before but it was mild white fish served baked with a some limes on top. Really well cooked and fresh. My other side was a salad, not much to that. Standard diner type of side salad. Service was attentive with super recommendations. I was a bit surprised with the bill. I didn't really think about how much the fish dinner would be but my bill was almost $40.00 with a beer. Really great dinner. Will return. This is my favorite restaurant in Puerto Rico. The best dish is the whole fried red snapper. It comes in different sizes. I prefer the medium. It's usually a challenge that I can handle. Don't fill up on appetizers although there are some great choices. The restaurant is big enough to handle most party sizes. The service is generally good. This Metropol is in Ilsa Verde. Go there. We stayed at the Fairmont hotel so this local feeling reastaurant was only a five minute walk away. They don't take reservations and there was only a brief wait. Service was spotty (wife asked for water and they brought her a tequilla as well as the one I ordered) but very friendly. We also had to wait for the appetizers and then the main course but we are on vacation and didn't really care. Reason why I'm writing this is because of how much our party of four enjoyed all of their food! Absolutely delicious. A huge range from which to order and when we received the bill, we thought they'd made a mistake, it was that reasonable. They have plenty of private parking for the customers and this is a pretty spacious restaurant. they have a lot of separate rooms and we were able to notice that they also have a DJ spinning on weekends in one of the rooms. our waitress was friendly and pleasant. we ordered a BEER and it came pretty warm. it was hard to find the selection of spirits as they do not have a visible bar from where we were sitting with limited my selection by a lot. - PAN SOVADO - they serve the pan sovado with garlic butter as we waited for the food and I do respect a place that serves a pre meal serving of bread. - SAMPLE PLATE- for appetizer we got a sample plate with FRIED CHEESE, ALCAPURRAS AND EMPANADILLAS, we liked it as fried stuff is always great but the flat of the appetizer themselves were not outstanding. the fried cheese was pretty good though, but the ketchup and mayo sauce was too simple and not a traditional Puerto Rican style at all. - MOFONGO DE CHURRASCO- although it looked pretty nice as far as presentation goes the taste was underwhelming. we expected a little something more as the place has an ambiance of elevated meal prep. this is a very nice looking place for the quality of the mofongo we experienced. - LOMILLO A LA CREOLLA - i chose the plantains and a rice and beans side to come with that and even though they serve the meal with 2 fried eggs which I love the meat in the other hand was very dry and tasteless. we were not impressed with the restaurant overall and probably we will not come back. read more

I had the half stuffed cornish hen with yucca and some type of rice, I don't know, I wasn't on the menu, but it SLAPPED. I'm mad at myself that I didn't ask the waitress what it was because I need it in my life. The yucca was absolutely fantastic. I had been told how good it is served up like this, but never witnessed it for myself due to a hilarious failure in the kitchen a few years ago. The wait was well worth it, I'm officially a fan of yucca prepared like this. Atmosphere is nice, and their birthday song is a banger. We were very disappointed. The menu does not describe what comes with each dish, nor did we find the options for sides listed in the menu. The seafood zarzuela and ropa vieja were excessively salty, and the tostones were not salted at all. The ripe plantains were not all fully ripe. The veal steak was tough. Our food came out in 3 or 4 trips, because pieces were missing. I had to request a spoon for my zarzuela (which is a stew, more or less). Once our food was delivered, our server didn't come back to ir table until we were done. She did not offer us more water, or ask how our food was. In fact, she never asked us how the food was. For the price, the service and quality of food left much to be desired. My family will not be back. Quedamos decepcionados. Churrasco steak FTW! Great choice if you're in the area. My steak was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. Not to mention that my meal was ready to pick up in less than 10 minutes. I got my steak with rice and beans and it was by far the best arroz con habichuelas I've had so far. The only downside was the side of vegetables. Unfortunately, it was just boiled frozen vegetables. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the hurricane though. I am definitely coming back here to sample more of their menu. I heard their sandwiches are great too. read more

Let me point out that I've only been to their location in guaynabo and today having been to their location in the LMM airport- that's the location this review is about since i'm not able to find the correct location here on Yelp. You all know when you come to eat at a restaurant in an airport you aren't really expecting much, at least that's how it is for me. Let me just say that their location at the airport is TOP NOTCH! Their staff is very friendly and the food was amazing. Waiting time was good too considering it's a busy airport though they didn't have that many guests. We ordered delivery from here after my cousin who was staying at an Airbnb nearby told us she had just ordered and the empanadas were a 10/10. I had been on an empanada hunt as soon as I landed in San Juan so when she told me this, my sister and I ordered immediately. I ordered the tostones, ceviche, empanadillas de carne, and grilled mahi mahi. The ceviche was fresh and a solid 7/10. The empanadas were pretty flavorful and definitely fed my craving. Now the grilled mahi mahi had me feeling unsettled. There was nothing grilled about the mahi mahi, in fact, it looked raw and was very bland. I was taken aback by the appearance of my fish because it did not look like it had been cooked at all.
