I wanted to love this place. I saw it on my map, I read the story, I loved the story and I expected the food to be amazing. That, says their website is their focus. I walked in at 7:30. I sat at the bar. I was immediately informed that they closed in 30 minutes. One hour earlier than their website says. I asked "can I get it to go?" She said, "of course". I figured out what I wanted, I had a question, and eventually she came back. I asked her what came with a $9.75 fish taco. Nothing. But everything that's listed is in the taco. Okay. I asked, is this a meal? It's not a small taco, right? And She said "Maybe get two or three". Not at 9.75 apiece! So I also ordered the small order of chips and charred jalapeno guacamole to fill out my meal. I wasn't starving. I saw an order of nachos going out and the food was huge. I thought certainly too much food for me for tonight. But if that was any indication of the portions, I should be fine. Disappointed is putting it mildly. And this place gets a 94% approval rating on Apple Maps. Is it because it's in Time Square? I don't know. I'm not new. I know what things cost in New York. So $12 for chips and guacamole that tasted like unseasoned smashed up avocado. Nothing charred or jalapeño. The taco was unremarkable. And the chips to guac ratio not even close. No offer of hot sauce for the taco. I had to ask for a fork. And, there's a 2.50 charge for take out packaging. My head hurts and I'm still hungry.

Nice menu! Lots of choices!

We loved the food here so much that the next Mexican food we had didn't stand a chance! Wish we lived closer but we'll definitely be bookmarking this place & make a point of coming back when we're in the area. The taco salad was probably the best we've ever had and the burritos were awesome too!

It was. Ok. Meats were good. Chips and salsa regular. Drinks were ok. It's not bad just not the greatest Mexican food. Pretty basic. The queso was good. Added salt to guacamole ... which is fine. To each persons taste. Service: waiter was nice. It got busy and he seemed to be the only one around. He tried his best to get to everyone. The seats are pretty close to each other so felt like the table next to us was sitting with us. But overall. Food was fine. Not sure if we'll go again. Ambiance was fine. Everyone was friendly and good vibes.

Updated review from my visit in May of 2023. Didn't event take pictures to show because I was so disappointed in the meal. Sadly, will not be returning back. Loved my first experience so much and I was so excited to come back. However, something has changed a lot since my first time visiting. The service was meh and the food/drinks were not good. The margarita was so sour. Tasted like just margarita mix and no alcohol. We ended up leaving the drinks because we were unable to drink them. The burrito was a total fail. I ordered a chicken burrito with some veggies as the previous burrito I had was no longer on the menu. It arrived to me not wrapped. It was just rolled up. Very confusing. It was not a burrito at all. I went to eat it and there was no chicken. Just some veggies and cheese. I informed the server I wanted chicken in it and would like it to be a burrito so I can pick it up to eat. It came back and was worse than before. Dry chicken. No cheese or dressing. Still wasn't a burrito. Just a tortilla rolled. Looked like a cheesy roll up from Taco Bell. Honestly that prob would have been better to eat. When I told her there was no cheese she brought over queso but it didn't help. The chicken was just so dry. I ended up not eating anything but tortilla chips with guac as my meal. Left hungry and I will not be returning back. Such a bummer.

It's rare to eat somewhere and not even need to think for a split second about how many stars it should get. Mexicue was an absolutely phenomenal place to stop for dinner before a show. We took our waiter's suggestion to start with the chips and guac with a side of salsa - the guac was hands down one of the best I've ever had, tasting so fresh and seasoned to perfection. As someone who isn't a huge fan of green salsa, I was very impressed with that as well. As a main, I had the chicken fajitas which were out of this world and SO much food, and my friend had the chicken rice bowl which was even better! For dessert we ordered the churros, not expecting such a large portion yet also devouring it because of how great it tasted. One tiny qualm - we were asked to move tables mid-meal so the restaurant could accommodate a larger party, which we had no problem doing, but it's not something you usually anticipate during a meal. Normally, I would have considered dropping a star for that, but the food was so good I can't

Our waitress was attentive and the food was delicious. We ordered the nacho with guacamole, shrimp tacos, wild mushroom quesadilla, and a churro with ice cream on top and they were all spot on. Highly recommend these dishes.

Must visit!! The staff is a bit overwhelmed. With the dining room size and the amount of people that gather. But if you have a bit of patience the best meal will be served to you. This is a nice blend of BBQ meets Mexico. You have all the flavors of Mexican food with the texture of the BBQ food. We had the spicy chicken taco and the Nashville hot along with the brisket. None of the items were spicy. However, I am Mexican and people Tend to say I'm bias on that topic. However the toppings to these tacos were just outstanding! The frida mezcal provided the smoky flavors of a great mezcal With the tropical juices of hibiscus and pineapple. This place is a must visit !

Good place. Broadway location is a little smaller than the 5th Ave. And 8th Ave. Locations (8th Ave. now closed) but still has ample seating with tables and high tops. Small bar has a great selection of Tequilas, Mezcals and Bourbons. House Margaritas are really good and especially reasonable during Happy Hour (3-6, M-F), as are some food items. All tge food we had came quick and was fresh and tasty. Recommend the Guacamole, Flautas, Chorizo Quesadilla and Fish Tacos. Everything very tasty and service was good. I would recommend but probably go back to 5th Ave. Location as more bar-like and less traffic to get there.

Not a restaurant if you're looking to have authentic Mexican food, but a cool spot to sit down and take a break from exploring the city. We sat ourselves at the bar and had a great time chatting with the bartenders and getting their insight on places to visit. Staff was attentive and the drinks were great.

Love this place. Always packed. The spicy Margarita is so good. I love to sit by the bar. I feel like my drink order service is faster! The nachos are delicious, I add beef brisket, the rice bowls are great too. Can't go wrong w anything here. Service is super friendly n courteous. Happy hour is M-F 3to 6pm.

3.5/5 Mexicue has an interesting pull to it's name - they've grown from a food truck to a restaurant chain in NYC and specialize in a unique char grilled Mexican food. I had somewhat high expectations in terms of uniqueness of the taste and overall experience, but it was somehow just above average. They have some delicious items in the menu - the foursome dip with charred guac, poblano queso, black bean dip & salsa with loaded slightly thick nacho chips, smoked chicken tacos, Nashville hot chicken tacos, grilled tacos, pulled pork/shrooms, golden avocado, burritos, tequila drinks and more - something for everyone! Taste wise, it was fine, didn't have a "yumm" factor and felt like something was missing. The queso was a bit too salty. The flavors weren't starring on their own & somehow were lost in the blend of ingredients. At $8 a taco, it's tad expensive. Service is good - prompt and courteous. I would probably give Mexicue another shot, but just as another decent Mexican food joint.

Where's the SMOKE? Many people don't want the smoke but when you love mezcal like me Ya Do!! I ordered the Smokey Margarita that was "made with mezcal" it tasted spicy with NO SMOKE taste. Okay, I ordered a margarita made with Del Maguey Chichicapa complete disappointment, the bartender didn't understand the assignment. The drink tasted like it was made with house tequila. It's been a long time I've left a resturant so disappointed. I take my drinks seriously so if you do too, skip this place! Also, the chips with the salsa could have used some salt; it was too bland. I was raised to always looks for the positive: the fish taco was great and came out piping hot! Also, the server Manny was very nice. But those two things are not enough to bring me back. Sometimes I'm on a liquid diet and like my cocktails on point.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. The food was fine, appetizers were all fresh but lacked any real depth in flavor. I wasn't too thrilled with the bone marrow I had either (but the tortillas come in the cutest basket). Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
