I don't usually care for shrimp but the shrimp tacos were surprisingly delicious. My virgin strawberry mojito was perfect. Husband got the portobello quesadilla and he loved it as well. This place is pretty awesome. I came here for my birthday and then again with family and had two great meals. The first time I had the Margarita flight. Super yummy but a little weak. Great flavors. Then we had some cool table side service, we had fresh guacamole, flaming Queso set on fire in front of us, fajitas for two with a flaming show, and fried ice cream. The guy who did the flaming shows was super nice and visited with us. The fajita meat was out of this world. The second time I ordered a regular marg and it was yummy and stronger than the ones I had on the flight. The molcajete was very good but I expected more in terms of presentation, it looked like a bowl of soup and nothing more. Ribeye tacos were delish. I will say that the service wasn't great in terms of our actual server both times, so that's where they missed a star, but honestly the food is worth it. read more

Got the guac to start & it was really nice and fresh cause it is made table side. It was enough for 6 people to get a little bit of it. (FYI: Free chips & salsa were bomb/Thicker chips.) The drinks aren't shown but the watermelon marg was very tasty. Brought me back to my honeymoon in PV, Mexico. But I think more bang for your buck came from the lime margarita. If you know what I mean. But it's def a marg mix (which is a bummer) so heads up. There is a marg flight that I was unaware about when I ordered my drink but I will DEF be trying next time. The queso is served table side as well and is served in a "400 degree" volcanic rock stone hah.. The server took it back before beginning because "it wasn't hot enough." But that queso bowl is enough to be a little table side fire cause it radiates freaking heat. Might as well order this every time you are outside on the patio in the winter months. Good strategy there. Anyways-- the queso was amazing. Has a flavor that i couldn't nail down. Texture is good, really runny while it's hot but thickens up. When it got really thick towards the end wasn't my faaaave texture. Just read on the menu that this was supposed to come with corn tortillas but didn't, cause chips? Idk. HANDS DOWN get the carne asada burrito when you go. Honestly, if you get anything, get this. Marinated skirt steak, Mexican rice, refried beans, & three sauces: molcajete, queso dip, and salsa verde on top. How to win my heart w/ a burrito is to have refried & rice inside the burrito. Some places don't do this but I love it. The three sauces on top were each incredible. Honestly, my fave was probz the cheese portion which I was not expecting to like. It was big enough to split too! Not the best skirt steak in a burrito I have ever had tho. The Mexican egg rolls are an app and they're really good. The tortilla is reminiscent of a phyllo dough. At the restaurant it wasn't super crispy, but as leftovers, I popped those bad boys in the air fryer and OH MY GOD. Some family got the fajitas and they were a little disappointed which is why it's getting a 4 star. But if they didn't all try different fajitas and all got the burrito, it would be 5 stars. It also gets a lower rating because it was soooo expensive I didn't get the tacos but I'm going to next time cause I saw this chick making fresh tortillas the entire time so I regretted that -- perhaps these fresh ass torts are the ones that were supposed to come with our queso? The Mexican restaurant we've been looking for! Since the pandemic, our local favorite went away & has yet to return. Not to bore you, dear reader, but our search for a replacement has been an arduous one. And yesterday, we found Mezcaluna. Every spot on the checklist was hit, brilliantly. From decor & comfort- to delicious beans & rice, we couldn't have been happier. And the service! Such kindness, extra napkins just when we needed, without asking! Checking back to see if we liked our food! Refilling our water! We had our favorites, chimichanga & chile verde with margaritas. Great food, nice heat to the salsa with the complimentary chips. I like Mezcaluna! The interior is so cute, they have great music, it gives it a nice classy yet fun ambiance. The staffs are friendly. The food and drinks aren't too bad, food presentation is very aesthetically pleasing. Location is great, right at the clackamas mall under Chipotle, and parking is easy and roomy! The prices can be a bit steep, it can also get super busy at times so your order might take a bit longer to come to you, but that's what's expected. Stopped in for a quick bite after a shopping trip with my mom and sister. This place has a super cute vibe, I really liked the ambiance and decorations, and the booths were pretty spacious. Our server was really nice and attentive. She continued to check in on us regularly, which we appreciated. :) We started off with chips and salsa, the mango ceviche (to die for!!), and fresh made guacamole. They made the guacamole right in front of us, which was really cool. I ordered the carnitas tacos as an entree and they were so good! The drinks were also really good, usually tequila and I are not friends, but I had a strawberry margarita, and it was great. Clackamas. Two out of 5 visits our bill was considerably overcharged. Yes, we had some cocktails and a nice meal, but the bill was for more than we ordered. Way more. And the server was not alarmed, either time...twice in five visits. Manager was...meh... This is a pattern. Overall the food was good. Ordered the steak tacos, was a little underwhelmed. Would like to try some other items to see if they have more wow factor. We went on a holiday so they were packed and the service suffered. Again would like to go back to see if it's better on a regular day. Drinks were delicious that would be a reason to go, just for drinks. Liked the vibe and felt like they can cater to all types of people. read more

Super spacious place that has peeve of seating that is all spread out. The customer service here is great and so are the chips and salsa that they bring out to you. The food on the other can take awhile to come out, which it did. It took awhile for out group to get our order. I ordered the same thing as my friend, Fajitas for two, and his came out about ten minutes earlier than mine. Not sure if there was something going on, but by the time we got our dish, everyone was pretty much done eating their food. I am hoping it's just a one off thing. I do like their tequila selection. Tried the Reserva de la Familia and was very impressed with it. read more

I honestly don't know what all the hype is. Came with a group of six and we were all excited due to the great reviews. It was terrible. The margaritas are horrible. I ordered a watermelon margarita and it was awful. They exchanged it for a mango margarita, and it tasted just like the watermelon margarita. They put this nasty salt around the rim that has some other stuff in it that is just not appealing at all. As for the food mediocre at best. There's a lot of less expensive, Mexican restaurants that have much better food and drinks. This place is overpriced and overrated. read more

Very attentive servers Friendly staff Clean & Modern We met friends for dinner to try this place for the first time. Others had recommended we try it. The hostess was very friendly and sat us after just a short wait time. Our server took our drink and appetizer orders within a short time. Once the drinks arrived they took our dinner order as well. We ordered a variety of entrees including asada tacos, flaming fajitas, molcajete, and more. We also ordered the freshly made guacamole. There was a long wait time for the food to arrive but that was expected at dinner time. The food: The tortilla soup was very good and flavorful. The guacamole didn't have much flavor but a little salt helped it along. The molcajeta was very good and boiled for the entire time we were eating. The other entree dishes left a lot of be desired. The asada tacos and chicken fajitas were beyond bland. Both were absolutely flavorless. Even adding the items from the fajita topping plate didn't give the chicken much help. There was just no marinade, seasoning or anything added to that chicken. The asada taco meat filling was the same. No flavor at all. The enchilada platter was better with added sauces to add flavors to the meats. If it wasn't for the molcajeta being the star of the meal we would have rated even less. The restaurant itself is very nice and can accommodate small or large groups. Our servers checked in on us several times and were very friendly. Overall, we don't plan to visit again for food but it's a nice place to meet for drinks and maybe even appetizers. read more

I had never been here before but the lighting/fire pits etc draw you in and well.... I love Mexican food and I just had to try it out. :) I made a reservation for 4 on a Friday night and the place was slammed. Many people who were expecting to get in without a reservation. So I suggest getting a reservation online first. The East wind was blowing extremely hard this evening and Mezcaluna's front doors are facing East so when anyone opened the door in came the wind and 37 degree air. They seated us right in the path next to the door and every time the door opened the menus blew off the table and we were freezing. I said that the table was un-acceptable and requested we be moved to another room or in the back of the restaurant. The manager said that they didn't have any other tables. We were going to leave and all of a sudden he said he had a circular booth in the back. Thank goodness! We finally got settled in and ordered drinks and were provided with menus. The waiter was quite the salesman! The menu is overkill and so large it is overwhelming. We ordered the guacamole experience where they make the guac at your table. It was pretty cool and they have you taste it to see if you would like more of this or that. Very Nice and yummy! Also the salsa was good. I ordered steak fajitas with flour tortillas. They make the torts fresh! The drinks were good. Our food arrived in about 35 minutes. The table was a bit small to put the still sizzling fajitas on but the waiter put it right in front of my face any way. We were shocked! That is a disaster waiting to happen. I was able to cover my fact as well as the person did the same next to me. The fajitas and tortillas was tasty though. After we got our food we did not see the waiter for at least another 30 mins. We asked for the check and still didn't get it for another 15-20 minutes. If you have a lot of time to wait for food I would suggest going here but be specific about sitting at a table away from the front door in the Winter and I don't suggest ordering the sizzling fajitas. read more

Been twice, first time was fine but last night was poor. Staff is nice, attentive. It's the good. Queso is sweet. Like way too sweet. Burger wasn't great. My kid who eats all burgers only finished 1/3 of it. 13 yo, no plate left full but there it was. Spouses steak was ok but not worth taking home the leftovers. The coctel de camarones was terrible. A huge goblet of warm V8 and lime with low quality shrimp and 1/10 of an avocado. Was not a good dish. Plus, kitchen staff - wash your hands. All 3 of us up in the middle of the night. Last tip, drop the huge goblets. They're terrible. Just serve in a bowl. read more

I honestly had never heard of this place until a friend suggested it. We sat in the bar, but along this glass wall next to the street. At night when it's raining and mall cops are driving by it seemed a little awkward. However, there was a fire going from a table behind us and the overhead heaters were on, so at least it was warm. The service was fast and friendly. I went with the shrimp fajitas and stuck with a beer as the cocktails and the food seemed a little pricy. Great chips and salsa. I felt the carrots seemed like an odd selection for fajita veggies. Plus the veggies were pretty raw. I like a little char with my fajita veggies, but not cooked to mush. However, the shrimp were cooked perfectly! After reading the reviews, I should have had the corn tortillas. As I looked around, a lot of dishes looked really good. For the price, I had higher expectations, but I enjoyed my meal and would be willing to give this place another shot. read more

We came here before a movie and I must say that we were quite impressed! As simple as it sounds, I tend to judge Tex-Mex restaurants on the quality of their nachos. As simple as a Dish as this is, it's pretty easy to mess it up. Plus it allows you to taste lots of different ingredients that they have to make from scratch. I will say that their guacamole was fantastic as well as the multiple types of case or they had on the nachos. My partner had the chicken fajitas and he like them pretty well. We enjoyed dinner here. I had a delicious margarita and enchiladas. My husband had a mezcal flight and a different type of enchiladas. We also shared the queso as an appetizer. The food was delicious, flavorful and beautifully presented. We had made reservations ahead of time and we're seated immediately. We were first shown to a both that has a speaker over head so it was quite loud. Our request to move to a quieter booth was kindly accepted and we had a nice quiet ambiance for dinner. We lived close by until we moved recently. I hesitate to post negative reviews, but this place frustrates me.... it has the potential to be good, but just isn't. To be fair, there is a good margarita selection and an excellent tequila selection. The decor is nice. It was AWESOME to have heated eating during the time when everything was opening up after Covid, and we came a lot, since it was close and there weren't too many choices. I enjoy the salsa they bring to the table. The food is not good. It's not the worst I have ever had, but it's just not good. For the flavored margaritas, they use mix or puree from the food service supplier instead of fresh/real fruit. The seafood is ALWAYS over cooked, no matter what you order: shrimp, fish.... all of it. Friday, I asked about whether the elote was fresh corn - it's fresh corn season after all. I was assured that it was... it was decidedly NOT fresh corn, and I could not eat it. The mango ceviche is simply the regular ceviche with the mango puree from the bar added in. WAY TOO SWEET with no flavor other than the sweetened mango bar mix.
