Enjoyed it so much I forgot to take a picture LOL. The only thing that I did not care for with this place, TOO EXPENSIVE! $26 for two bowls, gesh. But the flavors were amazing and I loved it. I had the chicken shawarma bowl, DELICIOUS. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, brown and jasmine rice, hummus, tomato salad, and tzatziki sauce. The bowl was hearty and filling, it was so good I attempted to eat the entire bowl, tisk tisk on me. The only other complaint I have and it does not take away from the stars I gave because it was only one person that was not very nice, but the next person was very friendly and personalable. I will definitely go back(maybe try the Waugh Chapel location) and I will make sure I take pictures before I jump in lol. read more

Following a suggestion from my friend I decided to check them out today. This is the grand opening of this Mezeh in Bowie Town Center. I've never heard of them before but I did my research and other spots seem to have great reviews. It's located across the street from where the food court is located at which I think is closed. Since It's my first time eating at this franchise, upon arrival it reminded me of Chipotle. The set up is similar but the food is definitely different from them. I've been ordering from this restaurant for quite a while. The food is delicious which is why I gave it 3 stars. The management and operations of this particular store has gone substantially downhill over the last year or so. I realize COVID has made things more difficult but that does not excuse poor management or lazy employees. Here's the deal with this particular store. If you place a mobile order it gets done whenever. There is no prioritizing orders by when they are received. It will not be complete at the time indicated on the app. In fact I waited 30 minutes past my estimated time today. I would have been better off just going to the store and ordering when I walked in because it was not busy. This problem only becomes more frustrating when you see the employees just stand around on their phones until you ask them to do their jobs. So disappointing. read more

The Mediterranean antithesis to Chipotle, Mezeh is the same assembly line build your order up. The flavors and food combinations are more robust. I feel like you get more freedom in the options to create a meal to your liking. I enjoy the Pita Pocket. Load it up with chicken, lamb, and go from there up the order line. Real talk, I want one of these in Milwaukee. We didnt even see it right away in the shopping center, but after a rousing game of "let's buy jeans" we knew we wanted something to eat, and a healthier option was top of the list. Though Panera is nearby, I was lured in by the promise of Mediterranean food (my favorite)... I was NOT DISSAPPOINTED. I got a large bowl with the bulgar wheat pilaf, arugula and kale base. Love that I could mix and match there. Added chicken shawarma- which had just a little heat. Then the toppings... oh lala. Boiled beets, cilantro hummus, baba ghanoush, pickled red onions, mint carrots, feta cheese... it was a choose your own adventure and all included, NO LIMITS and no upcharge for more. I topped with 2 sauces on the side (tzatziki and tahini). The large bowl is large enough to have leftovers and they held. Added a fried egg and had the rest for lunch the next day. I went to Mezeh 12/30/19 because I was there wen it was just advertisings on the window and kept passing it seem like til it was complete! Yet never stopped in!!. FINALLY I got there it was my first time there hell a Mezeh PERIOD and walking in I fell in looooove lol the beautifully placed Jars of bright ripe pickled Beets going all around paired aside with different pop lock pop topped Jars of all Mediterranean Spices and some planted herbs. All meshed well with the arrange of orange and brown black hues that painted the walls, it's definitely a place that welcomes you with open arms even before you hit the cashier!! I love how the set up is and the glass has big bold black print transparent labels telling what everything is going into your Food. I have Retinopathy now (due to a few retina detachments due to premature birth complications etc) so being able to see!! without squinting or asking someone for help is a HUGE help for me..onto the FoOoOd(can you hear my excitement!!) :=). Mezeh has 3 different chickens I got them all in my bowl it's extremely flavorful like I can just eat it with rice and I'm cool I got a bowl with everything the fresh mixed greens and arugula, the truly Roasted corn (in a good way the flavor is yummy) the cucumber tomato cilantro blend the spicy hummus but they have 3!!! What a great find! I love a build-it-yourself place that offers fresh options and deliciously seasoned meat and veggies options. You can do a bowl, wrap or pita pocket. Nothing is greasy or oily and I love eating something that tastes so good and doesn't make me feel bad when I'm done. Their large bowls are filling and there was ough leftover for me to enjoy later in the day. I loved that they let me go crazy on the toppings and have as many as I wanted. Overall the food is good, however, you never get the same portion. They are especially skimpy with the proteins. If you order extra, at a cost, it looks the same as the regular portion. Just get it on the side to make sure they are skimping even though you've paid extra. Plus they often run out of items or they just don't bother putting it out. The other thing is I especially hate how the women who work there ask "anything else?" like robots. They will cut you off from saying something to ask if you want anything else. It's a place where most people ask for multiple items and they will ask "anything else?" 5+times. It's annoying. Given the inconsistency with what you're given and the uneven service, my family has stopped going multiple times a week. Today was my first time back in awhile and it was just how I left it. To start, it takes a stellar effort to get 5 stars from me. Not that I have exacting standards, it's just that NO ONE is perfect. However, Mezeh is close to this. First, I am vegetarian, and, most of the time, vegan, and I was ecstatic to discover this place, via my partner, who spoke so glowingly. I tire of the constant comparisons of "such and such a place is the Chipolte of...", you fill in the blank. But, if it meets your needs, go for it. I'm not sure why some gave it the 3 stars, but ok. The falafel is AMAZING. Bowie is not known for being a haven for veggies like me, so the fact that I have found an establishment that serves these healthy alternatives here in the 'burbs is nothing short of amazing, long overdue, and REALLY appreciated. The portions are substantial, and I know some people may think this leans towards more greenery as filling, but I think that is the point. Follow the pyramid, folks. I was impressed that on one visit, when I added the Veggie Kefta, the staff member advised me that this was not vegan, just in case, which I thought was really tremendous, and showed they are cognizant of this. The line can sometimes slow, just a bit, but folks....the staff take their time with each meal. Nothing is "slammed" into your bowl in 10 seconds or less. THAT is what separates Mezeh from "the Chipolte of...". Improvements??? Hmmm...hard to pinpoint, they do everything so well. It might be welcomed if they also offered whole wheat pita, if someone like me is looking for alternatives to refined white flour, but that really is splitting hairs. My only concern would be location. They are on the corner, which is great, but malls are a dying breed these days, and even though BTC is open air, store fronts are closing, traffic is slower, and I would worry that this location would be at risk. Worst case scenario, there are locations in Bowie closer in. Hint, hint management!! Keep up the EXCELLENT work for health focused folks like me. read more

Only bad encounter I had was that they needed to cook more steak because they had ran out, which was fine but they handed me the bowl back with no steak. So I went up to the counter to inform them they forgot the steak. So they ended up keeping my bowl until the steak was finished and it took a really long time. So I proceeded to the counter again to inquiry about my bowl and if it wasn't for me going up to the counter to tell them that they still have my bowl and I needed the steak I would have probably waited another 30 minutes for my bowl because they started to take on more customers and I saw where other customers had steak but I had already paid and waiting patiently for them to put my protein in my bowl. Went into Mezeh with some trepidation because Mediterranean food in the DMV has always been a bust unless you go into DC and pay to eat at a high end place. The menu is spectacular! Very varied, and a win win for both vegans and omnivores. The food is fresh, and it is for the most part authentic in taste and preparation. I had the chicken shwarma and other juicy vegetarian fare. All very fresh. They have outstanding sauces which I found they were too skimpy on so I had the lady whizz me thrice! Woo hoo! Hopefully they will not start skimping on the portions like some places do once they get established. But for now the portions are "normal". The only two things I find to be problems are the drink prices which are *outta this strastosphere* WTH? And I hate the seating. Seating is not cool and so poorly designed that my companion and I felt squashed in the oval all the while being watched as in a fish bowl. They need to revisit the seating situation. The price is comparable to other local chains like this (e.g., Chipotle, Döner Brös, SweetGreen), and really appreciate their "whatever fits in the bowl" approach to choosing toppings - other places might upcharge for what they deem to be more "high end" toppings. Customer service is absolutely terrible. I walked in around 6pm tonight and no one said anything. I had to wait at the start of the line for a few MINUTES for a conversation between two employees to end before they spoke to me. I wasn't too bothered because it was my first time and no one was behind me, so I was utilizing that time to figure out what I wanted. When the lady came over to me, I said it was my first time and she lazily just started pointing and said "any of these, those, one protein and any toppings." I said okay and started moving through. I started to get bothered internally by her being super rude about me needing time to read the glass for my options. She was literally huffing and puffing, rolling her eyes, and when they restocked the roasted veggies that were out when I was building my bowl, I mentioned I'd like that added to my bowl and she dramatically rolled her eyes, got more agitated, and said the man ringing someone else up at the register would do it and tried to walk away, until I mentioned I wanted another bowl. Her energy was off because nothing I did should've caused her reaction. I was in the store for less than 10 minutes. But it was like I was pissing her off just by being a customer. If I wanted to feel like an inconvenience, I would've asked to. I never once gave her back the energy she was giving and I guess I was rewarded for that at the register, the gentleman was really kind. I hope his coworkers' energy don't rub off on him. Hopefully a manager can address the environment in the store because that was truly a disappointing experience from start to almost finish. I wouldn't patronize this location for the pickup takeout service alone. I placed an order for pickup and when I showed up 25 minutes later, the order still wasn't ready. The place was not busy or packed by any means. I asked for the status of my food and they said, "Give us a few minutes". The pickup line was piling up and none of us were getting our orders. Meanwhile, the few people in the order line were being catered to. They finally bagged my order, over 30 minutes after I placed it. And instead of calling my name, she put the bag on their back shelf and walked away. I had to go behind the counter and pick it up myself. Once I got to my car, I smelled sauce and opened the bag. Never eaten at Mezeh before the Bowie location opened. I've eaten there three times now. Each visit the customer service has been great & the restaurant clean. The food is sooooo yummy & fresh, but just a tiny bit salty for me. As mentioned already, it's like a Mediterranean Chipotle. Chipotle isn't really Mexican food, Mezeh isn't really Mediterranean food, but it's good. The bowls are $9.25 and worth every bite...if you can finish the mound of food they give you. Like it a lot. Everything is always fresh and the service is very good. There's enough selection to make it a go-to place when you're stuck for what to do about dinner. They'll bring the order to your car for pickup. There are plenty of tables, though it's really got a fast food decor, so that's not too appealing. It's fine if you're shopping, but we always pick up and bring home. The falafel is much better than most. It isn't dry like elsewhere. The hummus is good but not great. The eggplant is good.
