The name is deceptive. There are so many lunches and dinners to choose from here that are not…read moreseafood, in addition to the abundance of seafood. It's a fact: Mid-Atlantic Seafood can be easily overlooked for non-seafood options, ie where else in the area - or anywhere close ie New Carrolton, Landover Hills, Lanham, Seabrook, Glendale and Greenbelt - can you find at least 8 types of cake slices, 6 cheesecake flavors and 6 pies? The answer is nowhere unless you are at a grocery store or a bakery. I'll go over the types of desserts later. Any entree that comes with sides will give you 30 choices. Which of the 30 sides will you choose?! With so many dining options to choose from, do yourself a favor: flip-thru all of the menu options at the tiny menu monitor to the left of the dessert case before deciding what to eat because out of the 9 gigantic, rotating monitor menus, I didn't as easily see half of what they actually offer. Just go to the small monitor and read about all of the appetizers, salads, entrees and deserts efficiently. Alternatively, visit https://mid-atlanticseafood.com/new-carrollton/ on your phone. Seriously: aside from all of the seafood on the large monitors, you can get turkey, homemade meatloaf, barbecue chicken and ribs. As for the 30 sides to choose from, some are macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and French fries. We loved the mac-n-cheese. And the cheesy potatoes look overly rich but they are not. Really enjoyed those, too. These are classic potatoes au gratin with a bit of extra cheese and a lot of flavor. They also serve diverse varieties of other sides, including lo mein, white rice and cornbread. Not to mention the grilled vegetables, green beans, cheesy broccoli, corn and other options on the massive and never-ending steam table. On the 9 main video screens, you can get more than 7 kinds of fish and choose if you want it fried, baked or grilled. We wanted ours' baked. The waiter recommended to have it grilled because it would take less time and be more tender. We didn't listen to his advice, but he was right. Our baked fish was ok but we would love to come back and taste it grilled. The variety of fish offered is impressive, from ocean perch to salmon to tilapia to flounder to grouper to mahi mahi to whiting. You can also order crabs, snow crab legs and shrimp. Also want to try the stuffed shrimp here. When it says, "stuffed," that means with crabmeat. They have a garlic butter seafood boil here with crab legs, spiced shrimp, andouille chicken sausage, corn, etc. Meow. The chicken comes 4 ways: barbecued, fried or baked and as chicken wings. They have 3 types of pork chops: grilled, fried and smothered with gravy. Their entrees come with a choice of white bread, wheat bread, a potato roll or a slice of cornbread for an upcharge of $1.00. I didn't taste the cornbread on this visit but I'd like to, next time. One team member passionately said it was really good. We tried the mango slaw and it was good but not sweet. I heard the regular cole slaw is even better, so I would like to try that because I'm guessing it's as good as all the rest of their food we tried. I would also like to try the crab fried deviled eggs and the Cajun steamed mussels. Not to mention a lot of other dishes there! And now back to the cakes. They have so many desserts to choose from. I mean: multiple flavors of cakes, cheesecakes, pies, etc. They even have Smith Island cakes, which are a thinly-layered and stacked legendary Chesapeake Bay tradition. The current flavors are chocolate, red velvet and coconut at time of writing. We enjoyed our lemon short cake, the lemon berry marscapone cake and the mixed berry shortcake. Six different flavors of cheesecake, anyone? I'll next try the sweet potato and cinnamon cheesecake, please. They also have 6 kinds of pies including pecan, key lime and cookies and cream. The design of Mid-Atlantic Seafood is understated, clean and simple: counter service, a cold case of desserts and salads, a series of long steam table ms and a small eat-in dining area for maybe 20 people. I want to begin by saying that I am a loyal Panera customer. I use the Panera app regularly and order from Panera frequently. This was my first time visiting the Bowie Town Center location, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. I placed my order through the Panera app, as I normally do, and purchased two sandwiches for approximately $24. After picking up my order and taking only a couple of bites of my sandwich, I realized it had been made incorrectly because the tomatoes were missing. Since we had not yet left the shopping center, I returned to the restaurant to have the sandwich corrected. I politely explained to the employee at the front counter that my sandwich had been made without tomatoes. She suggested that she simply give me a few tomato slices, but I explained that I would prefer the sandwich be remade correctly with the ingredients I had paid for. At that point, the interaction became very unprofessional. The employee took my bag with an obvious attitude, dropped it on the counter, rolled her eyes at a coworker, and walked away without saying anything further. When I asked if my sandwich was being remade, she replied "yes," asked another employee to make it, and then walked away without even telling the kitchen staff which sandwich needed to be remade. Because of this lack of communication, I had to walk over to the food preparation area myself and ask who was making my sandwich to ensure the correct order was being prepared. I then requested to speak with the supervisor. After waiting several minutes, the supervisor came out but appeared more concerned with speaking to the employee than addressing my concerns. His demeanor made me feel as though my complaint was an inconvenience rather than a legitimate customer concern. I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously, nor did I receive the level of customer service I have come to expect from Panera. I understand that mistakes happen. My concern is not that tomatoes were forgotten. My concern is how I was treated after politely asking for my order to be corrected. As a paying customer, I should not have been met with attitude, dismissiveness, or disrespect for requesting that my food be prepared as ordered. Because I visit Panera so often, this experience was especially disappointing. I have always enjoyed your food and service at other locations, which is why this interaction at the Bowie Town Center restaurant stood out so negatively. I sincerely hope this feedback is shared with the management team so that additional customer service training can be provided. I placed an online pickup order at Sharks Fish Chicken & Pizza, and the experience started off a…read morelittle rough, and unfortunately the issues continued even after I thought everything had been resolved. When I walked in, I was greeted by one of the two employees working, which I appreciated. I let them know I had placed an order for pickup, but there seemed to be some confusion when they asked for my name. Another employee asked if I had ordered online, and when I said yes, she rolled her eyes, which immediately made the interaction feel less welcoming. I realized that I had accidentally ordered the wrong item online. I wanted the 2-piece whole wings with 1 piece of whiting, but mistakenly ordered the 2-piece whiting instead. When I asked if the order could be changed, I was initially told no because it had been placed online and she didn't know the prices. I showed her the item I actually wanted, and we discovered it was only 50¢ more than what I had ordered. I offered to pay the difference, but my offer wasn't acknowledged. It wasn't until I said I would rather cancel the order completely that she agreed to correct it. I completely understand that the original ordering mistake was mine, but what should have been a relatively simple correction became unnecessarily difficult. The customer service could definitely use some improvement. Unfortunately, when I received my corrected order, I discovered that I was given two wings and no fish at all. To make matters even more confusing, I initially paid more than the price they have posted for their 3-piece wing combo, which also comes with a drink. That made absolutely no sense to me. When I questioned the pricing, the explanation was that their online pricing is handled by a third-party company. I understand that online prices can sometimes differ from in-store pricing, but paying more for two wings--with no fish and no drink--than the posted price of a three-wing combo that includes a drink simply doesn't add up. And now there's another issue. I've since been charged an additional $1.82, bringing my total to a whopping $12.93 for TWO wings and fries. I did not authorize an additional charge, and considering I never even received the fish I requested, this is completely unacceptable. I don't know why this additional amount was charged, but from my perspective, an unexplained charge that I did not authorize is a serious problem and needs to be addressed. So, despite saying I wouldn't be back, it looks like I will be returning--but only to discuss this additional charge and have it corrected. As far as the actual food goes, I do want to be fair: the wings and fries were actually really good, and the mambo sauce was good too. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the fruit punch. It tasted like watered-down Kool-Aid. One nice bonus is that they offer a free fountain drink or another complimentary item for leaving a Yelp review. It's a small perk, but a nice touch for customers who take the time to share their experience. I take responsibility for accidentally selecting the wrong item when I placed my original order. However, between the customer service, the incorrect correction, confusing pricing, not receiving the fish, and now an additional unexplained charge, this experience became far more complicated than it ever needed to be. The food I received was good, but unfortunately, good wings and fries aren't enough to outweigh this experience. Once this additional charge is addressed, I will not be returning to order again.
