Came here with out of town friends. We made reservations, but somehow ended up waiting at the bar for a while but they made up for it with some craft cocktails that I understand are quite good according to the people who drink. Everybody in the group thought the food was really good. The bread, the pasta, the sauces. We ordered with the intention of sharing, but once we got out food we became lions protecting our plates. First time there to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday with friends though such trivialities were overlooked by a pretentious waiter. About the food: Salad was delicious. But the prosciutto arrived with only four thin, tiny slices of apple making it unbalanced and more like a packaged deli item. Our four different primis fell far short: one was literally uncooked and when I questioned this, I was given a weird dismissive explanation of *why*. The other 3 pastas were lukewarm with varying intensity of flavors but none were remarkable. Four different cocktails were fine but only that. Dessert was a gianduja mousse...or so they said. I had dinner last night here and it was pleasant despite not being able to have the focaccia because they ran out. Also the waitress seemed annoyed that my friend and I took a while to figure out what we wanted to order. Today I wanted to order the Tajarin pasta because that was my favorite from dinner. So I called before they opened to check that they do take out, to which an employee responded, "depends if we're busy or not". Rude, but whatever. I called after they opened to order the Tajarin pasta, which happens to be the only dish that's unavailable for take out- no explanation. So overall the food is great, but the staff gives me weird vibes as if I was an annoyance to them. Both phone calls with the restaurant put a bad taste in my mouth so I probably won't dine there for a while. read more

This is a hidden gem. Loved the vibe! The food was really good. It's home made pasta is extremely good. Food portions are a bit small, don't go in expecting a "Bucca portion". I saw Mezzanote on Google maps within walking distance and had great reviews so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm a sucker for fresh handmade pasta. Walking around the corner I thought "no way I'll get in with how popular it looks" but I was pleasantly surprised when the host said to take a look at the drink menu and he'd have a spot for me in a couple minutes out on the patio which was my preference with the beautiful weather. I started with the Rochelle Rochelle solely because the chipotle bourbon sounded interesting and loved it. Perfect balance of spice from the bourbon, sweetness, and tartness from the cherry liquore. For an appetizer I ordered the Pomodori which came highly recommended from the server who said the heirloom tomatoes were perfect right now and grown not far away. The slight acidity and sweetness of the tomatoes was beautifully contrasted by the creamy ricotta, fresh dill, and mint. According to both servers I talked to, the chef's specialty is the Tajarin Al Coltello, a simple but flavorful pasta with sage butter and parmigiano-reggiano. You can't beat it for a nice summer pasta. My next thought was that I'm on my first real vacation in a couple years so I'll have dessert. The Spuma Di Formaggio Di Capra immediately caught my eye and did not disappoint. Personally, a slight drizzle of local honey would have tied the components together really well but it's still one of the best desserts I've had in the US. The server knew the menu incredibly well, just as well as if he created it himself. That's huge for the diners' experience in my book. I don't yet know when I'll be back in Seattle but I'm definitely coming back to Mezzanote. read more

Great drinks and a beautiful dark chocolate pudding with a pine nut brittle rounded the meal out perfectly. However, our server, Brett was fantastic. The waitress was extremely nice and took her time to explain our questions as I'm not too knowledgeable about the different pasta they had. Went here for date night on a Saturday evening. Easy street parking in the neighborhood nearby. We were quoted a 45 minute wait for a table in the courtyard and enjoyed walking around Georgetown while we waited. We returned on time and were promptly seated. They have a great outdoor space with nice lighting and ambiance. We received kind service throughout our meal and ordered of their hip, modern Italian menu. We got the beets and carrot appetizers - the latter was really good - and for mains, ordered the tajarin al cotello (cut spaghetti with buttery sauce) and bucatini with cherry tomato and strawberry marinara. The plating was beautiful for every item, but the flavor on the pasta just wasn't all the way there. Prices were a little steep as well. Overall we had a really nice time and will return - hopefully they punch up the flavor on their pastas before we do! read more

What an amazing meal! We sat outside in the heated enclosed tent for a weekday dinner. We did not have a reservation but were able to be seated right away, the place filled up by 6:30 including inside dining. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make great recommendations. We shared the insalata rusa and slow toasted carrots to start. They both were delicious, the insalata rusa was very different than anything else we had, he described it as a potato salad without potato and that really helped us visualize it! For our entrees we shared the tajarin al cotello, which is hand it thin pasta noodles cooked al dente with a very light brown butter sage sauce. it was simple and absolutely delicious, with lots of parmigiano-reggiano. As well as the reginette and the pork chop special. We all agreed it was the most delicious pork chop we've ever had, and huge! It came with a very light and refreshing salad to finish. I went for here for the first time with my boyfriend and it was a great experience. They offered both indoor and outdoor seating. Pastas are definitely a one person serving. We had the sage butter pasta (tajarin al cotello)-- it was great but would've added some sort of protein with it and slightly on the greasy side. Ragu (reginette) was also very good. This place is definitely worth a visit. Went here on Thursday 12/28 at 5pm sharp, no reservation got in right away. Started with a huckleberry soda (non-alcoholic not drinking bc pregnancy), it was soooo good- seriously I would come back just for this simple drink. Focaccia w party sauce to start (sauce was amazing, the whole time trying to figure out what was in it), bread was so light and fluffy. Then we got the roasted carrots and the radicchio salad. Radicchio salad had this "Gorgonzola dolce" which which was some of the best cheese I've ever tasted in my life (and I've had a lot of cheese), also had dates and a great dressing, leaves of radicchio were crisp, great dish. Chilled roasted carrots, served w rye chips in a bed of ricotta, all of it was delicious. Generous serving of ricotta. Then we got the reginetta (Sp) with pork and beef ragu, phenomenal earthy flavor. Pasta is like malfaldine, the curly edges texture was great. Lastly we got the tajarin (like Angel hair) with sage butter, was cooked al dente, I loved the texture and taste in this pasta. Blood orange olive oil cake for desert was the only "miss" cake was bland, very fluffy, kinda the opposite of expectations for an olive oil cake with citrus and cream on top. Exceptional. My wife and I were looking for a place to celebrate National Daughter's Day with our 12 year old, as her big brother was attending his first Homecoming dance. Living on the Island of West Seattle as we do, we have oriented our outings to the south primarily for the past 20 months. We drive through Georgetown on the way to the First Avenue South bridge, and last night my wife suggested that we investigate that neighborhood for dinner options. Mezzanotte was the first place we drove by. I don't tend to do restaurant reviews for several reasons: First, because I am a chubby guy most days and who cares what chubby people think about restaurants...they will eat most anything. B, I am a vegetarian, which leaves most menu items out of reach, and 3rd, I don't drink alcohol which means that my wine pairing suggestions are pretty much finger in the wind guesses. That said, Mezzanotte was the best meal I have had in recent memory. The wait staff were just attentive enough, the outdoor al fresco dining setting let us take advantage of the late summer here in Seattle, and the food was off the chain. My wife and daughter had the hand cut fresh pasta, for which any sauce would have detracted from the exceptional texture and taste...just olive oil and a little garlic and you are set. They had perfect portion sizes, leaving them satisfied and with room for dessert. I took advantage of the ample vegetarian items on offer in the antipasti section of the menu. Started with the heirloom tomatoes that had been lightly grilled and drizzled with balsamic (I think), pepper and chili oil. Very subtle flavors that didn't outmuscle the fresh tomatoes, which were perfectly ripe and wonderfully prepared. They might not have been grilled, but they didn't last long enough on the plate for me to ask them. I also had the roasted carrots, which had a sauce made from walnuts and ricotta that were savory and sweet at the same time. Tender and perfectly cooked, I could have eaten a bucket. But they don't come in a bucket. My entree was the beet appetizer. Beets are nature's super food, but not always to everyone's taste. These would be the meal that I ate on death row, along with one of them hauling big California burritos from the taco truck up at the 76 Station on Fauntleroy. They came drizzled with some kind of smoky, creamy sauce with pine nuts and the flavor of the sauce perfectly complemented the sweetness of the beets. Overall, no joke...best meal I have had in years. If you live in, on, or around the outpost that is West Seattle, you must make it here. I've been to Mezzanotte twice now and the second time I visited, the restaurant has improved which is why it gets my 4 star review (more like 4.25/5). The first time I went here the portions were extremely small and we left extremely hungry still. However, the last time I went, I believe they listened to their customers and increased the amount of pasta they give. While the pasta dishes are great, a must-try are the DRINKS. Both times I've visited, I got the Mezza Limonata. It's one of my absolute favorite drinks I've had at a restaurant. It's a creamy blend of rum, aperol, passionfruit and coconut cream and it's to die for. It's a boozy smoothie that creeps up on you. It's dangerously good. I also tried their tequila cocktail that I can't remember the name of, but it had peach purée in it. I don't like tequila personally, but my friend who loves tequila enjoyed it! For appetizers, we got the burrata, focaccia, and a Caesar salad. The burrata was okay for me--I'm not a big cheese lover but that's what the table got so I went with it. Everyone loved it though! The focaccia was so light and fluffy and I loved the olive oil it came with. My gripe is the price on the bread, however. It was $5 and I could've finished the plate myself. Lastly, the Caesar was superb. I really liked how fresh it was and it was perfectly dressed. The pasta is fantastic! I never got the chance to eat at Il Corvo but when I heard the chef from Il Corvo is here now, I was really excited to try it. Tajarin: this was the favorite from the table. It was simple with sage, butter, and sausage I believe. The noodles were thin and had great creamy flavor. Tripoline: this was my personal favorite and I would 100% get it again next time! It's a ragu and had the perfect balance of meat and sauce. 10/10. Pomodoro: very simple and light, nothing too crazy Rigatoni cacio e pepe: I thought this was okay. It was a carbonara with a load of black pepper on it. It was very overpowering and was way too cheesy. I just couldn't finish it. This was my least favorite dish but everyone enjoyed it! Service was prompt and kind. We got a bottle of chilled red wine that was also delicious. We weren't sure if we would like the wine so he brought out a sample for us to try before ordering a bottle. I think the service could be better though in terms of customer interaction. Both times I've went, the service was professional but not personable. They don't ask how the food is, what brings you in today, is this your first time in, etc. One of the things I like to do when I go out is have a kind and personable server and I think that's something that can be worked on here. Nonetheless, it's prompt, cordial, and quick! I'll definitely be back as it's a great restaurant for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner date! read more
