I don't even know how to properly explain how disturbing this experience was at MEZZO -- I'm still honestly in shock. I ordered a glass of wine to start, and it tasted off right away, like it had been sitting open way too long. So I sent it back and asked for a Cabernet instead. That part was whatever -- mistakes happen. But what I saw next completely crossed the line. The server took the SAME glass I had already been drinking from -- a glass I had literally spit back into -- and poured it into a communal pitcher that they use to make red sangria for other customers. I'm not exaggerating. My used wine, with my saliva in it, went straight into something they serve to other people. That's not just gross -- that's a health risk. Saliva can carry viruses like COVID and infections like herpes, and the fact that something like that could end up being served to multiple tables is honestly terrifying. There is no scenario where that should ever be considered okay in a restaurant. It made my stomach turn thinking about how many people could unknowingly be drinking from something contaminated like that. It also makes you wonder what other basic hygiene standards are being ignored behind the scenes. I've eaten at a lot of places and I've never, ever seen something this careless and unsanitary. I know I review this place the most, but it is one of my favorite places up here in the north west of Las Vegas. Shawn is always at the door to reach you with a smile. The food is always wonderful. You're always made to feel like you've been there 1000 times although I've only been there less than 100. Service is excellent. The ambience is wonderful for this side of town. This review is based on my wife's recent visit for dinner experience here. She had reservations and got seated immediately. Atmosphere was nice but she was not impressed with the service that was slow and not very attentive. She ordered a wedge salad which had too much dressing and basalmic on it. She had seen one other table get fresh ground pepper, and when she asked for pepper the server brought out a pepper shaker for her. She then asked for fresh ground pepper and when the brought it out the server only gave it a few twist and barely anything came out. She almost took it from him, but requested more. The ravioli was the best part of her dinner and very good, and the ravioli were very big so she ended up taking half home with her. The complimentary bread was nice, but the first basket was hard and she did say the second was a little softer. Overall, she didn't have a very good experience and was disappointed. There are far better Italian Restaurants in Las Vegas to visit. read more

I've been eating at MEZZO for about 12-13 years. I've never had a bad meal. The menu choices are varied and everything is delicious. I've come with a few friends, small party, and big family gatherings; the service is always impeccable. The wine selection is great. You're missing a great food experience if you come to Las Vegas and don't stop in at Mezzo. There is also outside dining ( not in the LV summer heat). Ate here on a Saturday evening in early May for our wedding anniversary. We were greeted and sat in the very private front room, so nice!! Our server was friendly and helpful and the support staff was amazing and attentive. We started with the meat and cheese board and everything was fresh and delicious with a large variety of items. We shared the Summer Salad and Ravioli. The salad was exceptional, fresh with an explosion of flavors and the perfect amount of dressing. The ravioli was hot and tender and we fought over who got to eat the last one. Fresh hot bread was served beforehand and was also excellent. Made a reservation for 6 to celebrate a friends' birthday on a Tuesday evening and so very glad we did! I had the Grilled Salmon, he had the Cheese Ravioli with Shrimp. We arrived at 5:00PM and it wasn't too crowded. We had drinks & appetizers/salads at a slow pace. I want to give 4 Stars because the wait was just a little longer than expected. The entrees were served at 6:20PM and it just seemed like it took too long. The ambiance will have you thinking you are dining in an Italian village - it's so romantic! Perfect for a first date! Happy hour review...you need to get here between 3-5...but I promise you eating a little early is worth it for these deals. We thought we may have to sit at the bar for this, but they offered us a table in the bar that made this so much a nicer experience for a happy hour. We both got 5 dollar glasses of Cabernet and ordered the meatballs and the flatbread to split. They also brought bread to the table so we had plenty to eat. The bread was really good with a basalmic oil to dip in. The meatballs arrived first and they were quite good...2 for 5 dollars is a great deal...and they tasted great. Flatbread we got was pepperoni. This was a unique crust, but we both liked it. It was light and very flavorful flatbread. Okay. I never heard of Mezzo until I went there on a video shoot and when I stepped through the door of the restaurant I said I want to come here for dinner. The ambiance is so inviting. It's like walking into another world. The smells of the food cooking, the low lighting, etc. So now it's Saturday and I'm at Mezzo with my special lady friend, let the goodness begin. The service was superb. Very attentive staff. We both had a glass of wine. I had DAOU and my special lady friend had a glass of Justin. Dinner, meat lasagna for me, spaghetti and meatballs for the lady. Holy smokes! We were blown away. The lasagna was the best I've ever had and my ladies spaghetti and meatballs were awesome. The portions are fantastic and very hearty. You'll be taking home leftovers for the next day. In a nutshell shell or a pasta shell, Mezzo is fantastic and at a great price. We didn't have a reservation but they had a few available tables on the patio so we sat there. They start you off with complimentary house baked bread with oil embellished with balsamic and lemon. We tried the grilled vegetables appetizer. It's extra generous in size and also is very good. The vegetables were grilled nicely and were delicious. I tried the one meal on the menu that really isn't Italian....The sesame crusted ahi tuna with wasabi aioli and spinach risotto. It was reasonably good and tasty but not perfect today because the risotto came out cold....My server did offer to heat up the risotto but I declined because the tuna was good and I didn't want my plate taken away...I took the risotto home to have another day. My husband tried the famous American New York Dish called chicken riggies. This plates also generous in size and was packed with lots of rigatoni, cheese, chicken, and other things. This place is usually great in fact my dad was looking forward to eating here on his trip out but today was horrible. Waiter had us waiting forever. Food arrived cold but the kicker was the extremely long hair in my dad's food. Of course they didn't charge for that plate but nothing else was done to make things right. He checked in w us as well and when he discovered we were first timers he offered us a complimentary cannoli as a way of saying welcome and we hope you return. This only happens at family run establishments in my experience.The food was good, prices very reasonable. The salmon was slightly overcooked but still very good. The atmosphere was nice. We went on Mother's Day and had made reservations. We thought we got indoor, but the host said they didn't have any extra seating inside so e we sat on the patio. Luckily it was nice outside and not too hot or it would've just been so miserable. It took a while for the server to greet us and get our drink order. The table next to us has a little toddler running loose all over the patio area and food everywhere on the floor and the mom was just letting it happen. Kind of ruined the romantic vibes. When the server came, she was sweet but extremely soft spoken and was wearing a mask, so we could barely hear her. We placed our drink order and needed a minute to look over the menu. It felt like a long time before she came back to take our order so we just posted everything we wanted in case it took Long time for her to come back. My husband and I split the meatball special, garlic cheese bread, and chicken Parmesan with fettuccine instead of spaghetti. The meatballs were phenomenal!! The sauce was so good!! The chicken Parmesan was just ok. My piece was good, but my husband's piece was very tough and dried out, almost like overcooked. He couldn't eat it. The fettuccine came with very little sauce so it was also dry. The garlic cheese bread was good but nothing special. We never got or drinks refilled until our meal was done. I did want to try the tiramisu but we were just ready to get out of there by the time she came around to ask. I think it would've been a much better experience inside and hopefully next time we order something different since this was not the best and we were so excited to try his place because of all the good reviews. I took my mom there for Mother's Day. Food awesome very pricey. And not too happy I got fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and they left the dam tails on them really. Went here for date night. My partner wasn't too fond of his shrimp scampi. I ordered the blackened salmon and it was good however nothing too spectacular. I'm very picky when it comes to desserts but I was honestly not the biggest fan of their cheesecake. It didn't taste like it was made in house. I'd skip dessert if I go again. I'm not a fan of Italian food. I feel that it's overpriced for pasta that you can buy in a box and sauce you can buy in a jar. Mezzo made me a believer! You'd wouldn't know it from looking at its location in a small strip of storefronts on Rancho, but it's a cute place: Romantic lighting, a bar against one wall with very comfortable bar seating, an outdoor seating area for those nicer days and evenings, attentive and professional servers. This place can easily hold its own against the more expensive places on The Strip. The Frutti di Mare was a great selection: Equal variety of seafood, manageable portion size for dinner, rich sauce. We ordered the family take out dinner, the chicken picata to be specific, we even ordered it a day ahead of time and heated it up and it was excellent. We could not beleive the portion sizes for the cost. Everything was so good, we couldn't stop talking about it. Has to be one of Las Vegas' best kept secrets. You could order the family take out and invite people over for dinner (menue says serves 4-6 people but it really could serve 6-8) and it would be a hit.
