Stopped in for some food with a beach view. This restaurant is in Pinones it was our first stop after arriving at the airport. The dining is outside to enjoy the sights and sounds of the beach. This restaurant is known more for seafood. They also have typical fried foods. A full bar, beer and drinks. I had white rice, beans, and chicken with garlic and peppers. Happened upon Mi Casita in Pinones for lunch while on the island exploring. The restaurant has an open air cafe, very relaxed, island vibe. We had a view towards the beach but it was somewhat obstructed by the parking lot. They have a lot of local island specialties like Mofongo, plantains, tostones, empanadas and beans and rice, but I ordered the Grouper fingers. Decided on lobster tail in garlic and butter and side of tostones. On the table for sauces you have their ketchup / mayo blend and chimichurri - both are the bomb. I asked for a spicy sauce which I believe was habanero base and wow with the chimichurri sauce - dynamite. The pina colada is a MUST here. If you're looking for the true, laid back, tropical island beach vibe, you wanna go to Loiza. This is one of many restaurants along the beach in this area, surrounded completely by sand. Once you get settled inside, you hear the ocean, chill island tunes, and the vibe is just overall enjoyable. When my fam met the rest of our party inside, we immediately got some tasty corn fritters and sangria, which were both super tasty! My main dish was a WHOLE grouper with veggies and a side of mashed cassava. The grouper shocked me -- I wasn't expecting to see the eyes, and have to work around all the bones and stuff. I guess I was expecting a filet, but I forgot I was in the Caribbean! The grouper was delicious... I really enjoyed the flavor of the mashed cassava, but they added SO much butter to it! I feel like I would've enjoyed it more (and felt less guilty) if they didn't add so much butter. Overall, it was an awesome experience. At some point I'll have to do a 'crawl' through all of those places there so I can really get a taste of everything. read more

The food was not bad and fulfilling so they get four stars but the service at the end was the only negative I could find. No wait when we arrived and the place was nice, loud with good music and they took our order right away. I liked the portion sizes and the wait for the food wasn't too long. We had the churrasco, mixed seafood, chicken and rice as well as the red snapper. All of it was pretty good and the lemonade was very refreshing. One downside while we were eating was the amount of flies that kept coming. Wish they had a net in the windows to keep them out but this area is FULL of restaurants and the food smell is really strong. The guy checked in on us once and that was enough but when we asked for the check it took a good ten minutes. It would have taken much longer if I hadn't gotten up and gone to the kitchen to ask for the check. Sure more people showed up and there was a wait now but we had asked the waiter a couple of times and when we realized he didn't care by giving other people their checks and not us I made sure to reflect it on his tip. Well nothing disappointed from the ice cold medalla to the octopus salad to the fried snapper with my first ever mofongo de yucca! The cocktail de pulpo was tender and super flavorful, the snapper was fried and was almost like fried chicken. The mofongo de yucca was new & different. One of the best meals I had while traveling in Puerto Rico. Our Uber driver actually recommended it to us and let us know it's some of the best seafood. Everything was fresh and delicious. Portions are big, could probably share a dish with a friend and feel full. The whole fish was perfection, moist on the inside and crispy skin. The salmorejo de jueyes was light and delicious if you love crab I'd recommend that for something different. All plates come with a selection of sides. This was my favorite meal that I had in Puerto Rico! And trust me I ate a lot of food while I was there. If you ask for a recommendation for where you can get local fare, there is a good chance that you will be pointed towards Piñones. This is a no-frills part of the island with a strip of hole-in-the-wall type places. It's near an equally no-frills beach that is significantly less touristy than the beaches near the hotels. Back to the food: Mi Casita does not look like much on the outside. It is kind of a large outdoor beach shack. There is plenty of parking, so it's a good choice if you rented a car to tour the island. But looks are very deceiving in this case because the food is DELICIOUS. It is a similar menu to what restaurants were serving near the hotels but SO MUCH MORE flavorful and delicious. I had shrimp with rice and WOW. Simple dish, amazing flavor. I highly recommend this place to get a legit good meal. Despite the fact that the entire restaurant is open-air, the staff is still taking COVID very seriously. I was impressed and appreciated that. We noticed that this place seems to be pretty popular with locals so you might want to come early for lunch if you don't want to wait in line. Word to the wise: I didn't see any bathrooms on the beach, so go to the bathroom here at the restaurant before you leave! read more

This place is horrible. The soup was way too salty, the pasta sauce was watered down canned sauce, the steak was uncooked, the mozzarella sticks has pieces of mole in them. I got their seafood mix with lobster tail. It came with chopped up bits of octopus, conch, shrimp and a small lobster tail mixed together in a thick starchy sauce. Also had a side of mofongo and salad. Now I can't say the mofongo was bad because I've only had it one other time and I'm not a fan. It's a dry bland mushy thing and I'm just not feeling it. Their seafood with lobster dish was pretty ordinary. Octopus and conch have the same consistency, shrimp slightly less tough to chew so it all had the same flavor. The mini lobster tail was the best part. The service was slow but I won't hold that against them, our waiter is pretty up front and honest with what he thinks is and isn't good so that was much appreciated. Word of advice: do not come here with your hangry girlfriend or grumpy wife unless she has her cellphone to keep her busy. There is a lot of down time while waiting for your food. read more
