I often visit this restaurant only because my father enjoys it. So I decided to take take out for him on Father's Day. Come to find out they burned a piece of plastic that kinda looked like an onion. I took a bite of the taco I made and bit into a rock hard piece of plastic. Who knows what other things that we consume at mi Cocina are contaminated. I will be contacting the health department and posting about this everywhere only because the rude manager named Luis didn't want to make this right. He offered to remove just the fajitas from my order. I believe how outrageous this incident was that the whole ticket should be refunded. I will be going to his supervisor on Tuesday to show him what I had to bite into because it has discussed me to the point of anger. read more

First time to dine at Mi Cocina and it may be the last. The complimentary chips and salsa came first. I prefer thinner chips and the salsa while tasty at first had a funky aftertaste. I started my meal with a half order of the nachos locos. The portion was huge and they were good. My entree was the beef enchiladas. I didn't like the chili con carne at all, and the tortillas were too thick. The rice and beans were tasty but dry. The Mi Cocina Margarita was very good and potent. Ok let's start by saying.... Timing is everything, we were starving because we skipped lunch. First we walked in then we were seated immediately! Salsa and chips arrived at our table before I could remove my sweater. Our waiter Raul came and greeted us no more than 3 to 5 minutes of us digging in the salsa and chips. He brought our drinks out swiftly and took our order. Just as I was half way into my ceviche Raul arrived with our orders. I have to say he was an awesome waiter and the food was amazing! We love Mi Cocina but this was our first visit to this location. I have to say we were very happy with every aspect of the experience. On a Friday night around 9:30pm we were greeted and seated right away. The chips and salsa arrived almost immediately. I love that. Everything was good. The atmosphere. The service. The food. The drinks. It's always a good thing when you look at the check after dinner and can honestly say 'it's worth every penny'. On a side note, I asked for well done chicken fajitas and they came out perfectly. Chicken extra charred, onions and peppers caramelized exactly the way I was hoping. Such a great place for Mexican food. The customer service here is great. The staff really listen to your needs and accommodate/ recommend dishes accordingly. They offer complimentary chips and salsa when you are seated. If you like spicy food like my family, you can ask for a spicier salsa which is absolutely delicious. I've been here twice and loved the food each time. Things the past year at this location have improved. The restaurant looks and smells cleaner, staff is attentive and courteous, and food tastes fresher and come out hot and cooked properly: cheese in enchiladas is melted, chips are crisp and fried in fresh oil, margaritas are great. Our water today, Jackson, couldn't have been nicer. He got the orders right and delivered the food quickly. Excellent! We went at noon and I ordered the #4. Cheese enchilada and beef taco with rice and beans. My friend had the same but with a beef enchilada. The enchilada had onions in it which I loved. I ate so many chips and salsa that I had to take part of lunch home. They boxed it for me and sent home a big bag of chips and salsa, too. It was even better the 2nd time around. I use to come here all the time and just got busy. My bf was craving chips and salsa and we came upon this place. As usual, the chips and salsa is delicious and complimentary. We ordered the tacos habana; which is chicken and an avocado salad with garnishes on the side, and we ordered the sunset enchiladas platter; chicken enchiladas and frijoles and arroz. Super disappointed in my recent visit to the Arlington Heights location. I haven't been in quite a while but was shocked to see a Rico chicken lunch salad is now $15.95 with no additional chicken. Five thinly sliced pieces of chicken and 90% lettuce, a few tortilla strips and two cherry tomatoes. Definitely not worth the price. The taste was fine if you like eating mostly lettuce. read more

WOW! I had such a wonderful dinner at this location the other day. Everything was spot on, from the food and drinks to my service as well. Dylan was my server, he was very attentive and knowledgeable! I have some dietary restrictions and Dylan was able to guide me toward some delicious options. I love Mexican food and was excited to try a new spot. It was a huge letdown. The chips seemed like they were stale. The salsa tasted extremely watered down. I ordered the marinated chicken with veggies and asked if they could bring out a little salad in substitution for the rice. I also requested a spicier salsa. When the food arrived it was hot but lacked any flavor or taste. When I got my check I realized my $16 entree now cost me $30 because they charged me $5 for my tiny salad, $4 for extra salsa! If the food was good it would've been worth it but I was so caught off guard. Why was I not told there would be an additional charge? We specifically stopped at Mi Cocian today after reading a review from someone who was gluten-free. My Daughter has Celiac so we always appreciate a first-hand review. We walked in and asked for a table from the hostess. While getting the menus I asked if they had a gluten-free menu and the response was "We are not doing gluten-free now." I thought that was odd so I decided to go to the table since the review stated the waitstaff was very well versed in what was and wasn't gluten-free. The waitress stopped by and I asked what was available that was gluten-free. The response was the same as the hostess - "We are not doing gluten-free now." I guess she saw the look on my face so she said "I guess you could get cheese quesadillas on corn tortillas or veggie quesadillas?" We went with cheese. Our meals were ok - nothing to write home about. The cheese quesadillas were very greasy but otherwise edible. We won't be going back. read more

I love this place. This is not a typical Tex Mex restaurant. Mi Cocina seem to be a notch above a Tex Mex place. Not that Tex Mex is bad, I love Tex Mex. But Mi Cocina is a little different in a good way. This location at Hulen and I 30 is a very nice restaurant. Sometime you have a wait to be seated. But it is worth the wait. Casual dress and a little trendy atmosphere. The food is awesome I like the fajitas made sunset style. Very good. And the brisket tacos are the best. They have different flavor rice that come with the meals. And they are also good. The chips a dip are free and you can have plenty of them. One day I may try the other food on the menu. I have been going to this and other Mi Cocina's for years! I experienced the worst service ever on 12/22/2023! Beware! If Luis is your server!! RUN!! Ask for someone else, or leave the restaurant and do not look back! Rude, rushed us to order, did not listen when we ordered. Did not bring what we asked, did not come back to check on us at all. Did not box our leftovers like they always do, no extra chips or salsa. Had visited the downtown MC early this week and had the great service and this is how they do it, every time on leftovers! It is the holidays and I bring cash to give to servers. Needless to say I left with my hondo ( someone else will need it and appreciate it) and regretted giving him five dollars because he did not bring smaller change. Oh well. Stopped in for lunch with my wife. I got the Mamas Tacos (my fav!) and she got cheese enchiladas. We usually go to the downtown location but I have always liked this location better. I feel as though the service is always better here! Today it was off the charts! Alex, our waitress, was top notch in every sense of the term. We were never without drinks or salsa. She checked on us consistently even though she had lots of other tables. She was super sweet and personable! Food came out quick and fresh. We spoke with Carlos, the Mgr on duty, to brag on Alex.
