Thanks, Mi Cocina for giving us another memorable night on Sundance Square for fine food and a walk under the stars. By the way, free valet service is right out front of Mi Cocina. Just drive up to the Red Umbrella, give the driver your key, get the ticket that Mi Cocina will stamp for you and text them after your evening on Sundance Square. Don't normally right reviews but I just had too on this one. I normally go to Mi Cocina in Dallas various ones . It was my moms birthday and she lives in Mansfield so we stopped by this location since it was in Sundance Square. So let's start with food. Food: each of us ordered something different at our table well Fajitas were dry and tasteless kind of tasted like rubber packaged meat . Then the tilapia Veracruz was even worse than the fajitas. When they brought this plate out to me the presentation was so bad it looked like they just tossed whatever on the plate and rushed it out . Then it was cold , and also no flavor . The server did take this one back I just couldn't bare it ; went with the tacos de camarón tasted like shrimp with a lot of oil and seasoning mix together and that's it . So food was just awful and I'm pretty sure it was the chef switching recipes on the food because at other mi cocinas I've never had a problem. Drinks: They did take a while to bring them out but when we got them they were just like they always are amazing out favorite is the mambo taxi. For this I gave it one star . Service: Manager was the one who told the hostess to go ahead and sit us down because they lied about the wait being a 30-45 when there was so many tables empty. Our server however was super attentive always had our water refilled and kept bring us chips and salsa which we love . He made this experience here a little more bearable even if the food was just horrible. That's why I gave this review and extra star. read more

Lunchtime or brunch-time off the square in Fort Worth try Mi Cocina. I had the #11 and found it most satisfying. Their Margaritas are large and refreshing. The seating is conducive for 2 or 10 so bring along a friend or 2 and have some fun. read more

I absolutely love this location. I live an hour and 15 minutes away and pass at least one on my way. The food is always amazing! I always call ahead to ensure that Alfonso Ramirez is working. He does such a great job. He is extremely attentive and is always friendly and on top of everything to ensure our once a week visit is A+. I'm giving 3 stars for attention to the RUDE older blonde they have for a hostess greeting their guests. It would be 5 stars otherwise. Came out for dinner to visit our friend, Joseph who is a server here, an excellent one at that. When we arrived we were told he had just "been cut 18 seconds ago" and couldn't serve us. He then walked over and interjected that he could take care of us, she then snapped at us that he no longer had a section. We just excused ourself from her and went to the bar until he got us a table. We had excellent service at the bar while we waited. Food is delicious. Hopefully she changes her bitter attitude. read more

So if you are familiar with my reviews by now you know "Mexican" restaurants I should avoid because I can never be fair not unbiased. We are again on a cheer competition weekend and this event is packed so we waited until 9pm to be able to get a table fast. We walked with another family there and the 6 of us were told that it would be at 9 pm a 1hr 20 min wait!! There were plenty open tables and we asked if outside would be faster since it was a cool night and not long after they were able to accommodate us within 10 mins... at 9:30, the place was less than half capacity so not sure why they scared customers away with such a long wait message. Ok, to the food. We ordered top shelf margaritas with grand marnier on the rocks and they were amazing and honestly not over priced!! From the Tex-MEX menu we ordered the Shrimp Brochettas (that is neither Spanish or Italian hahaha) and I was gladly surprised by them. The dish was very good, rice had good flavor (some green sauce on it) and the beans too. My son (his bday) had the Ceviche Verde and it sounded good but was lacking lots of lime and some Chile. Mexican ceviche with no lime? Come on?? We fixed by asking Luis (our superb waiter) for them. The jicama is a nice crunchy touch!! Alas our third dish was an unfortunate wreck. Mom lives enchiladas and has the chicken on salsa verde and poblano and they just didn't work. Tortilla was very oily , chicken was dry (in an enchilada, yes!!!) and the only "rescuable" thing was the poblano sauce in top 'cause the red "Mexican" rice was not good. Good thing her margarita was good because that made her forget her dinner!! We ended the night with what seemed to be a Chocolate Tres leches cake We shared to celebrate my son's Bday. Again Luis, thanks a lot brother! This seems to be a favorite place in FT and Dallas and we can see why. My husband and I found this place on yelp. We decided to come in for an early dinner after a long day of traveling. We were starving so we ordered the left side of the menu. Started off with the steak and chicken fajita nachos. The order was huge and could probably have been my meal. Complimentary chips and salsa were probably a waste of space. Entrees: I ordered a shredded chicken enchilada and shredded taco combo that came with rice and beans. It was delicious. My husband ordered the brisket tacos. Very flavorful but came with white cilantro rice. I would recommend the Spanish rice over the white rice. Overall a great meal. Friendly attentive server. I walked in off the street and sat at the bar. Ordered a margarita and Carne Asada and it did not disappoint! The streak was cooked to perfection and the rice was delicious. They also stated they don't take reservations, so we literally arrived within 20 minutes of calling and they gave us a 40 min wait time and then after roughly 5 min said there was no way to seat us. LOUD!!! The thumping techno music at a Tex-Mex place is an...interesting choice. Sitting right next to my Wife in our booth we had to shout. However, the food and the service saved the day. 8pm on Saturday was busy but not completely full. We were seated right away. Our Server was attentive without being intrusive. Our glasses of Mambo Taxi and Strawberry Mojito were never empty. The chips and salsa were tasty but the Salsa is very watery. Handle with care when loading your chip. We had Dinner with another couple and between the four of us we had two LuAnn Platters, an Enchilada Plate, and a Beef Fajita plate. We all agreed that our dishes were delicious and had nothing left for a take-home box. Of particular note, we also agreed that the Guacamole served with our dishes was the highlight. Next time, we'll get an order to have with our chips and skip the Salsa. read more

I am in downtown Fort Worth at least twice a month I always order takeout from here. Food is always fresh and the tortilla chips are always warm even in my to go. I was in town looking for place to eat other than steak, someone from a hotel recommended this authentic Tex-Mex restaurant. Great location, walking distance from the convention center. I really liked the service here. We walked in a little earlier than usual dinner time. The place wasn't too crowded at all as we arrived early. I don't remember the name of server, but he was so friendly, funny, and attentive, he made sure we were having good time. He sort of made fun of me for reading reviews instead of menu, but it was in a friendly way. He actually let me finish read the reviews I wanted to read on yelp first, then came back with his own suggestion. He brought mole sauce to try out. I really liked the first taste of it, I ended up ordering mole pollo enchiladas. Since I only tasted the sauce a little bit, I didn't realize how spicy it was. Food was really good but I wasn't ready for this spiciness. Although I left a half of my enchiladas, I still enjoyed it very much. Side rice came with the dish was very good as well. It helped me cool down from spicy enchiladas. (Yes, he did warn me about spiciness of the sauce but I still ordered it because it was that good). Mojito drink I ordered also complimented the spicy mole sauce as well. If I was feeling my best, i would definitely have ordered additional drink. I wish I was feeling better that day to be able to enjoy more. Although I only ate less than half of my plate, I still enjoyed it very much. We walked over here from our downtown hotel to have dinner while in town for the LSU game. We had a large table and still only waited maybe 15-20 minutes in a pretty crowded restaurant. While we waited, I decided on the Mambo Limousine, their kicked up version of a sangria margarita. STRONGLY recommended if you are looking to party, or if you just want a delicious marg, but beware. When drunk in addition to other beverages, you may require pharmaceutical intervention in many forms the next morning - but that's another story entirely. For dinner I decided on the Tacos al Carbon and they were a delight. Incredibly tender steak, succulent and full of flavor. With the addition of the bean soup and the pico de gallo, it satiated my weekly if not daily craving for Mexican food. Their guacamole is also notable, homemade and fresh. My favorite part of Mi Cocina, though, was the service. Our waiter nailed it with every person getting their food rapidly and drinks were never left empty for longer than a minute, which was insane considering the size of our table and how full the restaurant was. I was very impressed, so they'll definitely see me on my next visit to FTW - going to hit up that Chili Pepper marg next time for sure! read more

On my first visit, this restaurant felt strangely familiar. It feels right, it makes sense, its comfy and trendy, and it feel very familiar. The restaurant is like "PF Chang" for Mexican food. They've update the ethnic food experience and added better ingredients and put together a comfy dining experience. The food here has borrowed heavily from the tex-mex flavors but it has made it their own. I sat at the bar and was promptly helped and my mojitos was super refreshing. I was offered a side of guac while I waited and the guac was good. I don't even like guac and I liked it. Fresh, creamy and buttery. I may have to ask for guac the next time I find a tex-mex place. My entre was smothered enchiladas. Its not the typical New Mexico kinda smother green chile enchilada. This plate does the enchilada that is crispy. I think they fry the enchilada before they smothered it in the sauce. It was ok, but I would have preferred a soft shell enchilada. I remember the portion has huge. Overall, the flavor is right, and the dining area is comfy. read more

The food is good, the service is great, however I only go to this location if I can't make it over to Hulen for some reason. It's just not a well designed resturant space. There are no booths, the flooring and ceilings reverberate every noise, and the music is played at an uncomfortable volume so it can be heard over the dull roar of people having conversations in a room with smooth floors and high ceilings. The downtown Fort Worth Mi Cocina is the best. The location is a big seller for me. Great place to stop by after spending the day at Sundance Square. If you are lucky the patio is a great place to sit. Start with a Mamdo Taxi drink very tasty with a good kick. It like a margarita swirl but not tangy like a margarita. Chip and salsa are good the salsa has a spicy bite but I like hot. The 3 brisket tacos are wonderful great flavor comes with rice and a salad with avocado. My partner had the fajitas but he got them different "Sunset Style" they are delicious. And the guacamole is very good made just right. Not loaded down with onions. Now I have been to other Mi Cocina and they are just as good. And if you have been to Taco Diner they are the same Brisket Tacos. read more

Two of my coworkers chose the Tacos Mi Tierra "Street Style" - Three soft Corn Tortillas Topped with Grilled Fajita Beef, Serranos and Onions served with Guacamole y Pico de Gallo and were ecstatic over it's spicy goodness, but were both red faced and sweating a few bites in... My other coworker got the Poblano Chicken Enchiladas Two Chicken Enchiladas with Poblano Cream Sauce, Arroz y Frijoles and nearly licked the plate clean. She said the poblano cream sauce was the most amazing thing she's ever had, although the portion on her plate was quite smaller than any of the rest of ours.
