This had been my husband's and my favorite restaurant for over 20 years. The staff is incredible, the food is very delicious. The management is impeccable, the restaurant is always clean, the patio is wonderful! We cannot say enough good things about this restaurant...there are so many good things on the menu that we cannot say we have a favorite item. Lori, Fatima, Jose, and Dario are our favorite servers. Last night we stopped in for a late dinner. Food was cold and seemed like waiters were ready to get off because it was slow. I had to send two of our four dinners back. One due to temp and one due to asking for something prepared differently. When the second came back the plate still had the onions. 2 times in a row. I always enjoy coming here because I know I'll get a good, solid product. Their margaritas are outstanding and dessert is excellent. Occasionally the M restaurants are panned because they aren't as good as what you'd get where I'm from in South Texas or very specific Mexican places in DFW , but that's not what this is . It's right on the money if you want Mexican, need somewhere nearby, need the kids to like it, and want to know what to expect. This was absolutely awful. I got the Tacos al Carbon, and the meat was cooked rare! The meat was a bright red, and looked like it was barely cooked. It felt like I was eating raw meat. I've eaten Tacos al Carbon at many, many restaurants, and this is hands down, categorically the worst I've ever had. Also, there was a HUGE amount of fat on the meat. Some of the strips of meat were 50% fat, and 50% meat. If you like eating fat more than eating meat, then this is the place for you. My stomach feels terrible right now. I could not believe it. You would have to try to make mexican food taste this bad. How hard can cooking meat be? My 83 year old father could do much, much better than this! And he doesn't know how to cook. Good grief. This is just beyond me, how anyone could go to this restaurant more than once. Oh, and lest I forget, it's way, way overpriced. Fifteen dollars for 2 enchiladas, some rice, and some beans is just absolutely ridiculous. Especially for this food. A fool and his money are soon parted. read more

I've been to this restaurant several times with no issues. However, today's experience was enough to make me stick to the Skillman location close to home. Drinks & chips arrived, we were ready to order but the server passed up at least 5 times. After 10+ minutes, he took our orders. He didn't write them down which made me a little iffy. I ordered the #2 lunch special listed as 1 cheese taco, 1 beef taco, 1 cheese enchilada. I asked for all cheese, no beef due to dietary restrictions. The order arrived (as well as my friend's order that was also incorrect) and it was 3 enchiladas two cheese 1 with beef. I explained that it was incorrect and he took both orders back to fix. Shortly thereafter, a manager arrived and brought back my original plate and said that I didn't understand the order. Those two cheese enchiladas are actually tacos despite looking exactly like the enchilada that was in the middle of the plate (rolled up and covered in sauce? then what the heck do they call a taco at this place??) Anyway, I don't know what his point was in bringing it back to me. A few minutes later, the order arrived and was corrected but subpar. I will not be going back to this place at all. I wouldn't recommend this location based off of my experience. The Skillman location is hospitable, delicious, and always accurate. read more

For about 12 years we have been coming to this Mi Cocina because the food is amazing and the customer service is even better. There are many other Mi Cocina's near us. One off of 121 by Nebraska Furniture Market and another in the Shops of Legacy. And everytime my family and I want Mexican food we always go to the best. The management make you feel at home and it works it's way down. My first experience with Mi Cocina didn't go too well so I avoided all Mi Cocina's for a while. However I went to this new location and the food was amazing!! I ordered the sunset enchiladas, perfect!! The waitress was so sweet she even gave me chips and salsa to go because I was in a hurry. I have been coming to this same Mi Cocina and every time has been wonderful. The service was amazing, everyone at the bar was really nice. Let me tell you about my dining experience last night at Mi Cocina. I will preface my comments with the fact that the flavors and textures were spot on delicious. BUT Holy Cow, it was expensive for what little food I got. I ordered "Spicy Arrachera Steak Tamales". That is PLURAL, right? "Topped with Poblano Cream Sauce and Pico De Gallo served with Cole Slaw a la Mexicana". 1. I got ¼ cup of cole slaw. 2. I've worked in the service industry before and I know weekend nights are BUSY. With that being said I had a birthday dinner here on Friday night. I called 2 days in advance letting them know I had 30 people coming in. Called the day before and even 2 hours before arriving. We had people coming from all over Dallas to eat at this establishment. After the hour and a half wait just to be sat blocking the bathroom the service was horrible. They gave one server an over 30 top at the end of the night. She had a young guy helping passing out drinks but it was obvious we needed another server. After complaining to management he did nothing. We even asked to scoot our table down to wide open room so we wouldn't block the bathroom and he said no. It was so many people she missed a whole side of our tables order. Our "appetizers" came in with our food order, which also took forever to come in and at that it was overcooked. My "medium" done fajitas were dry and for sure beyond we'll done. My cousin ordered 2 beers due to how slow service was, he was told he couldn't and didn't even get his one beer until after his food was gone. Overall not a great experience. The bar seemed to be the only competent part of this place as we were having to get up and order our own drinks from there. read more

This was my first visit to this particular location Mi Cocina. Last night my friend and I dropped in for dinner and drinks. It wasn't very busy, and after our experience I can probably guess why. We arrived at 9 and were seated quickly. Our waiter Ernesto came by with our chips and salsa and went to get water for us while we decided on drinks. He came back several minutes later, placed our waters on the table and quickly walked off. Five more minutes went by before we had to flag another server down to see if they could order our Mambo Taxis from the bar. When our server returned and saw that another server already managed to take our orders and deliver our drinks he never made an attempt to apologize for his disappearing act. We ordered queso with brisket and the ceviche for appetizers. When he returned with the the queso it did not have the brisket, no big deal we asked if he could bring it out separately. You would have thought we asked for his first born, he was totally "put out" by the request saying that the queso is better on it's own. This only led us to believe that he forgot and it was not an error made in the kitchen. When the ceviche arrived in the same abrupt manner (literally placed on the table while turning to walk away without asking if we needed anything else) there were no limes on the plate. When we were able to get his attention again for the limes we decided to complete our order with him since his trips to the table were few and far between. We asked for limes, 2 more cocktails, and if it were possible to do brisket nachos instead of the other meats that are listed on the menu (chicken I believe)? We were told that the kitchen would absolutely not make brisket nachos for us and that we should just try the brisket tacos instead. At this point we decided to finish our second Mambos and continue our evening elsewhere. I am a big fan of Mi Cocina, but this is by far the absolute worst experience I've ever had at any of the locations! read more

Had dinner here last night and each time I dine here I think it's way overrated. I lived in Dallas and was back for a visit. I have tried several Mi Cocinas in Dallas and just can't seem to like their food or service. And I have eaten at this one in several occasions over the year. Last night the service at the Campbell store was terrible. The hostess skipped us when the beeper didn't go off, but didn't bother to call our name, despite my standing right next to the hostess stand. And our waiter was either over worked or just not that interested in our business. The chicken quesadillas were not good and I would skip the queso. My dinner companion had the brisket quesadillas. They were good and if you eat here are recommended. The drinks are good, but for DFW Tex Mex the service and food should be much better. read more

Whatever, if in fact cream sauce is more expensive (which I doubt) then why not mention it beforehand? So, that is a wrap for me. Too much competition around here to bother with this place anymore. This was my first time being at this location of mi cocina. I will NOT be back. Worst service I've ever received. The waiter only came to our table twice during the whole visit. It was very empty, but took way to long to get our food. There were 3 different waiters that were just standing in the bar area doing absolutely nothing. We had to speak to management just to get our food. After saying something we got all of our food within a couple minutes , you could tell it was just sitting in the back waiting to be brought to us because i had ordered some tortilla soup and the tortilla strips were soggy. The food was good. After we were done eating , once again the waiter was nowhere to be found. We had to speak to the manager AGAIN. We even had to ask a waiter that was not our waiter for a to go box. Then we sat there for a long time waiting for the check. We had to complain 4 different times during the visit and the service did not improve at all. This location has poor staff and is under poor management. The worst part were the drinks. I had ordered 3 different cocktails that were horrible, undrinkable. The cucumber martini tasted like straight up lime zest, didn't even taste like cucumber. Then I got a mojito, one of the simplest drinks to make, and it was horrible. Definitely not a mojito. No lime, no mint, it was a bunch of random stuff thrown together like sugar cane and different fruits that tasted disgusting. I like mi cocina but will not be back to this location. read more

I have been a fan of La Cocina since 2010. I am never disappointed with their food. They also serve customers so quickly, that it is incredible. The food has never been cold, just right. The location in Allen is equally one of my favorites too. I can never go wrong eating here. read more
