Worst place to go to ever. Wouldn't recommend at all. Not even if they give you the food free. Had dinner tonight with my husband on 7/9/21 he ordered fajitas I ordered nachos. Food came out, the fajitas weren't even hot. Nachos were warm. I told one of the servers to send it back and the manager brought them back did not even apologize for the inconvenience. The bartender's service was fine. Nothing great. You can clearly tell they're understaffed. But to top it off one of the servers was about to serve one of her tables water in a new "clean" glass and she saw something on the glass proceeded to take it off. And use the same dirty glass. That's disgusting. I can only imagine what they do with the dishes they serve the cold food on. I didn't say anything nor the manager bother comping anything at all. When we left and went to the car 2 of the 3 managers that were there were taking a lovely little break outside on their phones while the entire restaurant is swamped and food is coming out cold on a Friday night at almost 7pm. read more

I love Mi Cocina! I have to admit, not all the locations are equal. Some overcook the food, some have less than attentive servers, etc. But this is one of my favorite locations. Everything is spot on, and they'll fix it with a smile if it's not. First off, to anyone saying that you'll only get Tex-Mex here. Well, of course. That's what they claim to serve. Second, this staff is one of the best out of all the locations I've been to. Raul is the best. I honestly don't know how he runs around taking care of everyone the way he does. And yet, he manages to stop and chat in between. Same with Carolina and Karen. They are all so friendly, and of the course the food is great and so are the margaritas! Btw, If you order anything with shrimp, this location cooks it perfectly. :) So props to the kitchen as well. read more

The atmosphere is excellent and the food is superb. Our waiter was personable and present. He even spoke to our son and engaged him (not easy to do). We have made this our going out restaurant because we both cook. Moving here from California we hoped we could find a "cool" restaurant that served great food. This is it! Beautiful decor as well. I did go back to the restaurant and unfortunately this last time I suffered the worst food poisoning ever. I contacted the health department but it was Memorial Day weekend and no one was available. I came in here to eat lunch real quick I went up to the bar because the restaurant was really busy. Karen was our server and she immediately greeted us took our drinks we had chips and queso out in front of us within minutes. I'd never been to a Mi Cocina before, and will not be going back, at least to this one. It was a little pricey, which is fine if you're getting great food, but the food was completely unimpressive. I generally LOVE queso, and this queso was gross. It was as though they opened a can of that nacho cheese stuff and added some stewed tomatoes. The chips were okay, and the beef in our fajitas was okay, but the service was not great, and I just can't forgive them for that queso transgression. If it wasn't for your mambo taxis I would have given you one star Mi Cocina! I met a group up last night at this location and boy did it blow. It was a party of 10 of us and we had a few missing people so I was accepting of the fact that our waiter barely came around until everyone arrived but he actually continued to do this throughout the evening. It took forever for me to order my drink, to get straws and for our waters to be refilled. The lover and I shared the Mama's Chicken con hongos ($13.95) and asked for a little side of Pico and Guac (they charged a whopping $4.25 for this?!). We waited a good 25 minutes until we got our plate. The serving size was generous; our sizzling platter was topped with chicken breast, mushrooms, onions and sauteed poblanos. It looked and smelled great but once we took our first bite we were sad to discover the chicken was EXTREMELY dry and overcooked. Disappointed I moved towards munching on chips and salsa again until I discovered a bug flying back and forth in between our chips and we finally had to execute it in our salsa. GROSS. The service we received was equivalent to the quality of our food: dry and non existent. We were charged for 20% gratituity which I think is ridiculous! I cannot stand the fact that we were treated so terribly and were forced to give a good tip on top of it all. The company I was with was great, the mambo taxi was divine, everything else about this Mi Cocina however absolutely sucked. read more

Just moved over to this area from Plano. What a noticeable difference in lack of service & the food is slightly different in taste & quality from other locations. Went a week ago & ordered the fajita nachos. The order took forever & they came out cold & meat was dry. I figured I'd give it another chance last night and once again, terrible service. Once seated, it took 5 minutes for someone to take our drink order, then 10 minutes for the drinks to get there. We were ready to order, he set the drinks down & didn't return for almost 15 minutes. I had to ask another waiter to get him so we could place our order. None of the staff is rude per say, but not friendly either. Just doing a job is the feel you get here. (Both times) I have been a regular at Micocina Plano/Legacy for years & very disappointed in the service & food at this location. I won't be returning here. read more

I have lived in this neighborhood for over 15 years. I've eaten at this MICO countless times. I keep saying "this is the last time I'm going there, their food has gone to shit". Tonight was the last night. The service was so slow, food took forever, and the food was MICO sub par. This is not our local hangout we knew and loved. Drinks and snacks are still the same. But to spend 23 dollars on a carne asada send it back and have it wrong again...I'm done. Manny's is across the street and it's a little better for the price...I guess. Super disappointed. My go to place is no longer my go to place. Prices are way too high for the crap they are putting on the plate. read more

Our family has eaten at many of the Dallas area Mi Cocina restaurants many times over the last 20+ years. I'm not sure but what I think the best was the little, old, crowded location in Preston/Forest Shopping Center. After Mi Cocina expanded into many locations, I've always thought of the food as being a cut above in quality but three cuts above in price. However, my wife and I had dinner with friends at this Coit/Campbell Mi Cocina Saturday evening, May 12th. The refried beans on my plate tasted like they had something very strange in them - almost like drain cleaner or lighter fluid. I didn't finish but about half of them and I'm not one to leave food on my plate. Later I had terrible cramps and diarrhea. I was the only one in our party to have refried beans. It's four days later now, and I still have problems. It'll be a long while before I go back..... read more

I've been to this location on several occasions and it's consistently so-so the entire way around. Though I like the location, the decor of the restaurant itself, and the nice outdoor patio, once I'm seated, a wave of mediocrity strikes me quickly. I've never had impressive service, the salsa is bland, the prices are higher than a lot of enjoyable Mexican restaurants, & I've never tasted anything here that makes me want to repeat the experience. I joined a friend here for a late lunch this last weeked because she wanted salsa in a bad way. Since we were in the area, so this was the closest place. After a brief wait (even at 2:15 PM), we were given a table and handed menus. A few minutes later, we got 2 half-full bowls of salsa and a bowl of semi-crushed chips. We were starving, so we dug in anyway. The chips were kinda greasey & the salsa was alright, though the small bowl wasn't going to satiate my friend and we had to ask for more almost immediately. Our waiter materialized after a good 10 minutes to take our drink orders, which he forgot shortly thereafter. We were off to a bumpy start, but we had hope. We started with a bowl of queso which was lackluster at best. Honestly, my crappy homemade throw-some-velveta-in-the-microwave stuff would have been better. This visit, I tried out the Rico Salad because, as good as all of the traditional dishes sounded, I don't think my stomach was up for the cheese & grease. I favored the chicken over the beef, but I did have the recommended Mi Cocina dressing. The salad was large & was topped with a fair serving of chicken, veggies, plenty of sliced avocado, and a few tortilla strips. The chicken didn't really have any flavor to it, though you could see that they did use seasoning on it. Maybe it was just too dry? Not sure, but the lovely ripe avocados made me happy. The tangy dressing is the same consistency as ranch, but much tastier in my opinion. And a little went a long way, so I didn't feel like I had to bathe my salad in it to get the satisfaction of taste. Overall, it was a decent salad, but I expected a little more for my $10. My friend had the brisket tacos, which she liked, though the amount of grease threw her for a loop. But she said the meat was pretty good, so that's a plus. During our meal, our waiter was rarely around. He certainly wasn't friendly (nor was he rude, though) and took no time to stop by and see how everything came out. He was quick to slap down the check, though. For the price, I've had much better Mexican food with much better service. I'm not opposed to coming back here, but it's not a place I'll be suggesting or going out of my way to visit. read more

I'm afraid twice is enough for La Cocina even though the food is pretty good, especially the rice (always important at Mexican restaurants). The beef fajitas were good, the enchiladas were ok, but the portions both times were so small I almost started laughing when the server put the plate down in front of me, and it's not cheap. Can you send back too-small portions? It's awkward. I didn't know what to say - Take this plate back to the kitchen and put more food on it? The service was good and the restaurant itself is very nice, but I'm not going back. The prices are too high for entrees so small they belong on a kids menu. read more

We have been coming here every year as an anniversary tradition for 8 years now. Wish we had picked a different restaurant. The food is alright. The service is alright. None of the staff is particularly friendly. The female manager on our last visit didn't even smile back when I smiled at her, and although she was standing right there, didn't bother to grab the door as she saw me struggling to open it while juggling my baby. Of course once I opened it she took the opportunity to barge past me to go back inside. I left super disappointed and we will just have to start going somewhere else for our anniversary as this place is crap. read more

This place was rough. I ordered the rolled enchilada plate, one...."red chile"...and another sour cream. Now with every other sour cream enchilada I've ever had, the sour cream was a small part of a red chile-drenched, freshly fried corn tortilla, but this was just this white sauce. It was weak. And the red chile one was terrible. Nowhere near the quality I'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. The taco that came along with it all was serviceable but can't say I'd pay for another one. The only redeeming quality of this place was the salsa. No heat really but it was flavorful. But an overall lacking first visit, can't imagine I'll ever come back. read more

I've been here about 8-10 times in the past year. I always have great service with quality food. I've never had to wait to be seated, my server has always been prompt. The fajitas are my favorite as well as the enchiladas. During my last visit I met with a client who forgot to bring a document to our dinner-meeting. We asked if the restaurant was able to print the document for us and the manager agreed; she was friendly and nice to help us in this way. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

This had been my husband's and my favorite restaurant for over 20 years. The staff is incredible, the food is very delicious. The management is impeccable, the restaurant is always clean, the patio is wonderful! We cannot say enough good things about this restaurant...there are so many good things on the menu that we cannot say we have a favorite item. Lori, Fatima, Jose, and Dario are our favorite servers. Edith, Lupe, and Jose are excellent managers and it is reflected in the servers' attitudes. Bartenders Carolina and Raul will certainly provide you with impeccable service. Last night we stopped in for a late dinner. Food was cold and seemed like waiters were ready to get off because it was slow. I had to send two of our four dinners back. One due to temp and one due to asking for something prepared differently. When the second came back the plate still had the onions. 2 times in a row.
