In fact, our eldest (now 17years old) takes his girlfriend here for dates! Bar is updated and looks cute. They even made a wall for cute photo ops. $5 margaritas from 3-6pm Mondays! This place has a very cute ethnic interior design as well as outside. We were there mid afternoon on a Friday and there was only one other table filled when we arrived and we were the only ones in the restaurant when we left, which makes sense for almost any restaurant on that day and at that time. That is normal. I mention it however because it can have an effect on the waitress. She was pleasant and accommodating. She helped us pick out a drink and had some knowledge/input about the dishes available, which is something I appreciate in a wait staff member. That all being said, I was not very impressed with the food. The chips were cold and nothing to write home about. The salsa was bland. Understanding that there are several types of Molé, I asked about the chicken molé. The waitress admitted that she had never eaten it but that several customers had commented that it was on the sweeter side. I don't know that I agree with that. I thought it was very good Molé sauce but the chicken was very dry. I was happy to have the sauce to moisten it up a little bit. The refried beans in the small corn tortilla bowl were good. The rice was so so. We ordered margaritas and the waitress was helpful in helping us decide on a size. They have apparently several sizes on up to small fishbowl size! I will admit that there was a generous pour of tequila in my margarita. I was definitely feeling it nearing the bottom. That's a good sign at a restaurant however I could tell that it was not the best mix. I had the mango margarita and thoroughly enjoy that type of margarita at other Mexican restaurants where they taste like they use fresh fruit. This was definitely just a sugary mango juice. I think you always have to be positive about everything and we have been serving a lot of people for a long time and they have left happy. Carne Asada is the best I ever had. Period. It's better than Frontera imo and theirs is good.

Just got out the restaurant worst experience of my life! We have been coming here for months and after waiting 10 minutes at the entrances waiting to be seated mind you the restaurant was empty literally nobody was there we made noises to get the attention of the people in the kitchen but no one comes out until a phone call came through...a new waiter comes out that we have never seen attended us btw it's Monday, Margaritas are $5 we order are usual and we are eating I finish my first drink while I keep eating my food he brings out another one without me asking so I was a little sus about it but I let it slide by since it's $5 and we have never had a problem with the restaurant but when it came to pay we were charged $99.83. Each Margarita was $15.95 for a total of $63.80 only on drinks!!! I waved my hand to the waiter and asked him why the price he said he gave us a different kind of margarita we were confused since when he asked us we stated which flavor we wanted and that it was regular since he offered us "Gold with Grand Mariner para que esté más deliciosa" but we reject the offer never he said that the special was only on the regular margarita. So I told him that it was a mistake I didn't even finish explaining what the problem was and he quickly said it was the margarita I gave you give the medium size I said that in the advertisement it doesn't mention anything about size or flavor then he said yes it's because of the flavor so I told him Sir that's false advertisement and he goes all defensive and says don't pay me anything since now he had other customers in the restaurant I told him that was not the problem that I was willing to pay for the price advertised yet he kept saying No, no just go don't pay I still went up to Mr. Enrique really disappointed and payed him what we were supposed to be charged and I tried talking to him and he just kept saying nooo don't pay me. First time trying this place and it's the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. Jumbo size drinks are truly JUMBO! As a professional alcoholic, their jacuzzi size margarita did the trick for sure! Steak is perfectly cooked and seasoned and the chicken is delicious. And the soup, so good!!! Our server was so nice, and efficient. The place is super cute inside. We ordered a bunch of food and I was surprised our bill wasn't higher, so the food is reasonably priced as well. This was actually my second visit at MH. My first visit was 5 years ago and the place was packed, loud and the food was average. Some things have changed by the review remains the same. My recent visit was on a Friday night and my party of two were the only people in the facility for dinner. The waitress was very attentive, but we were her only guests. We requested hot tea for our beverages, but MH only had one tea bag. Really? The food was plentiful and good. Their guacamole is especially good. However the atmosphere is not comfortable. My favorite place closed down for remodeling so we decided to give Mi Hacienda a chance.Came here on a Sunday night .It was slow - only 2 more tables besides us. Lighting was dark , service was extremely bad . We had to wait 5 min to get water, waitress was impossible to find when we needed her.Wanted to order another beer and then lost my patience waiting so just finished my fajitas and asked for the check - bad for the restaurant to loose that money .Food was decent , no complaints . This restaurant has potential but left feeling disappointed. We visited Mi Hacienda for the first time on what happened to be Cinco de Mayo. I would take it easy on the restaurant if they were actually busy, but they weren't which says something in itself. The food and drinks were overpriced for what they were and mediocre at best. If the margaritas were good, I'd be less judgemental on the food but they weren't. We ordered a pitcher of the "gold" classic margarita which is their premium and it tasted like it came straight out of a mix. Thats fine for a $7 dollar margarita but not a $27 margarita. No complaints about service. He was very attentive and kind. Hope this place can make some changes to survive. read more

This spot hits home. I've been coming here for years with my family, we've gotten to know the staff and the owners and have become family. I am 100% Mexican and can tell you right now this is the best spot for Mexican food in the area. The carne asada, caldo, mar y Tierra and flautas are superior. The list goes on. I will admit, it hasn't been the same since the owner our beloved Cindy passed away but her spirit lives in the restaurant and she is deeply missed. The strip steak with chipotle sauce was TRULY phenomenal. Large portion, generous and delicious sauce. Generous portions of rice (I don't do bean) and a decent scoop of guacamole on the plate. Their red salsa was delish and chips and tortillas fresh. Only gripe was they are a bit stingy with the salsa. I asked for more and got a tiny bowl instead of the regular-sized one. Looks like they charge for more chips/salsa, which I can see if you're not ordering much or abusing it, but I was spending $17 on my entree and only asked for one salsa refresh. The server was a little, shall we say, "casual" considering it wasn't that busy and he had plenty of bus-help but the food made up for it. Only 1 other table of 3 people in the whole restaurant that were given very good service. 20 minutes later still no one came to our table even for a drink order while 4 staff stood around. The ceiling is high, the decoration great, Telemundo on a big screen, bar looks really inviting, service nice, professional, room clean, warm, great spot to be in. Ordered the "medium" margarita, a silly big fishbowl on a stem. Tasted great. Read a review that the carne asada was tender, and it sure was. Really liked the high quality of the steak but also all the sides. Ordered a Bohemian Golden Pilsner. It cracks me up that the Mexican Restaurant has a Czech-sounding Pislner Mexican beer. I wish I knew the back-story. The beer tastes more like a light red ale than a pilsner, but it wasn't bad..just a bit too carbonated. Ordered the queso fundido appetizer and the carne asada (steak) chimichanga, the latter served with rice. Decent atmosphere, decorum inside. I liked the faux palm tree at the parking lot; to me, it signifies "we need a party in paradise" during Chicagoland winters. Salsa tastes store-bought and salty but with lots of cilantro. , curiously enough. Tortilla chips were served cold but somehow still tasty with moderate crunch. The Pico was very fresh! Good! The queso fundido was FUN-deeeeDOOoo! The steak chimichanga was served with a steak knife on the plate..which is always encouraging! But the meat was just so-so quality in my opinion. The chimichanga tortilla was buttery and a bit flaky (good)...I think it would be better suited for the vegetarian chimichanga. I may come back for a vegetarian chimichanga and something sweet if I get the chance...always roaming for food! We have tried many Mexican restaurants in the area, and bar far this is the best one! The food is a bit pricey but the ingredients are top notch! Service has always been good, but when they get busy, you may have a bit of a wait. I recommend the signatur margarita, but bring a designated driver because they are strong, but flavorful. read more
