Steak Tacos with cilantro and onion and rice on the side

My family moved to Darien a couple years ago, and when we moved we were in search of a yummy Mexican restaurant. Many people in the area told us to try Mi Hacienda, and we absolutely love it now! It is always the first restaurant we think of when we are craving Mexican cuisine. We especially love the tacos, burritos, and the tostadas. The workers are always so nice and accommodating, so we definitely recommend trying this place out!

2 steak taco dinner. I love the beans come in this tortilla.

I enjoyed everything!! We were seating immediately. The vibe is cute. The passion fruit margarita was amazing!! The al pastor tacos are my favorite. Service was speedy and accurate. Will definitely be coming back.

Great food and service! This place is a hidden gem! Recommend to everyone. Carne asada is great quality of meat, juicy not fatty at all.

Food is good and the salsa has the homemade feeling. Service is attentive. After multiple visits, I am here to share and no longer keep this spot to myself, haha. Drinks are pricey but meet the expectations to match the price. Food is fairly priced with today's economy. Although, the only dish I didn't really like was the empanadas. Everything else was good. Carne a la tampiqueña was good, meat was tender and cooked just right. Their mole sauce was good as well(not on the sweet side at all), which is perfect for me. Enchiladas de pollo con mole were good, the chicken was juicy. Steak tacos are good. The chicken with tostadas were another hit, a tomato sauce base not like a tinga but still good. The mezcalito drink was great. Also, the Paloma madre was good. I did see fortaleza on the bar wall!!! Over all a great place to stop by when you're at or in the burr ridge area. I am excited to go back and try the ceviche and pulpo.

La Cocina De Mama is one of the popular places to drink and eat along this particular stretch. Far from authentic. They focus more on look and taste. Came in and got seats at the bar. It's about $12 for a burrito. Menu has a good amount to choose from. I got the Vegetariano Burrito. This has beans, cheese which I left off, lettuce, rice, and tomatoes. Filling. It was made fresh at our table and hubby added a little more salt to it. We were also served a small bowl of salsa. The chips are warm and fresh. Hubby ordered the combo fajitas and a strawberry margarita. I ordered the steak enchiladas rojas and a pina colada. Everything was seasoned well and we enjoyed our meals. Kudos to the bartender for making great drinks!

I went back and forth on four or five stars on this visually and acoustically vibrant, fun, lively cantina alto vibe setting--its new location. I at first suffered sticker shock--no way was I paying supper club prices just for a Mexi-riche sheen! I ate at this place at its previous location just up the street minus the designer packaging, and though ok, that experience did not justify the prices I was seeing on this new menu. I may have been a bit hasty though. They not only stepped up their visual/environment game, but their food game as well--at least on this visit. My aperitivo was a frozen mango and rum to enjoy with crisp chips and three types of salsa. The main dishes were deliciosísimo. Yes, you will pay several more pesos (which is still a bit of a sore spot); however, the portions are more than ample-enough for two. Our server was attentive, polite, efficient, and very pleasant. Despite the higher prices, the overall experience was a very good one--I feel I got my money's worth as the saying goes--I landed on five stars this go around.

The parking lot was empty walked in and we were greeted right away, would you like a table, booth or a spot at the bar? We chose a booth, but the seating surfaces looked like they had seen better days. Our waitress gave us menus and asked if we'd like to order drinks. For the three of us we ordered up two coronas and a tequila sunrise. We looked over the menu and ordered up our choices, pork enchiladas, chicken fajita and a shrimp cocktail. For a Sunday evening I expected more customers. The bar had six customers and we were the only other customers. The pork enchiladas were fine but just ok. The shrimp cocktail for the price was ok too. The chicken fajita was nice too, but some chicken strips stayed a little too long on the grill. Our waitress was great, she checked in on us several times asking if there was anything else. Dessert how about churros, just plain, sorry can't do it. Ordered flan, nice presentation, good taste. Maybe 7:00 on a Sunday is a off time. We'll have to come back again and try some other choices.

Also, if someone notes in their reservation that they're bringing a baby and a car seat, it would make more sense to seat them at a booth instead of in the middle of the restaurant, especially when booths are open. Overall, I'd say it was about a 7/10 experience.
