Was a little apprehensive about going to this restaurant I am gluten-free so I was worried there wasn't gonna be enough for me to eat. They had gluten-free items on the menu and I am super happy that we went to this restaurant. The cauliflower appetiser was delicious. Ended up getting two of them. The noodle dish was very tasty, also gluten-free and then the crispy tuna was super yummy. I couldn't eat the steak, but the person that ate it said it was good. What a great experience very glad that we stopped in to eat. Chef Yun ( owner ) stopped by a table to see how everything was. He was definitely a delight. Congratulations on a very unique restaurant. Middle Tennessee's relatively new Mi Kitchen is burning up the ratings on Yelp and Google, so much so that it grabbed my attention amidst the vast dining options across the city! It even made my short list of the 12 hottest restaurants in the metro area I'd never visited that I needed to try in 2024. With such intense competition in the Midstate Region, every new place needs a hook. And Mi Kitchen is the only spot I've found with small plates of Asian tapas, a Spanish tradition applied to Korean food. That was all I needed to hear. Even better, traditional Korean cuisine features elements of Japanese, Italian, Hawaiian, and Mexican fusion. It's incredibly clever! My only hesitation before going - as Mi Kitchen lies just 1,200 feet within the Franklin city limits - is the propensity for Franklinites to exaggerate their ratings. Of all areas of town, they're the most guilty of showering mediocre establishments with five-star reviews like they're handing out meaningless trophies at a little league baseball banquet. Case in point, this space was previously owned by the atrocious Moe's Bar B Que, another overhyped Franklin failure. But any fear that Mi was another overrated Wilco joint immediately dissipated with the first bite of those glorious edamame truffle dumplings! Let's talk about those first, because I went home and added them to my top 25 must-eat items in the Greater Nashville area! Now that's saying something! Soft, steamed wontons envelop pureed edamame soybeans with Parmesan cheese and a garlic confit. But they'd certainly be incomplete until dipped in that stunning citrus truffle oil sauce! The k pop crispy fried chicken is a crunchy, meaty masterpiece with a slightly spicy kick and sweet aftertaste inspired by the popular dish Korean fried chicken. It's just as good as anything I've eaten in South Korea! The spicy Korean pork tacos with salsa and cilantro were nearly as good as the other two dishes. And I'll be back soon, because there are at least 10 other menu items I want to try! I don't even know where to begin. I just want to live in this restaurant and eat the food 24/7. The flavors were incredible! The plating was beautiful and the prices were decent. Currently the restaurant is decorated for Halloween and it has a great vibe and our waitress was fantastic. She had great recommendations as well! I really like this place. It's a modern Asian Tapas restaurant. I found it on Yelp, of course and I really wanted to try it. It has a cool and casual feel with a full bar. The food was awesome. We tried 4 dishes and it is hard for me to pick my favorite dish. All of the dishes we tried were flavorful and presented well. Skyler was our server and she was excellent. We had a few questions about 2 of the dishes and she had all of the answers for us. This place is about 10 minutes from Coolsprings mall. There is plenty of free parking. Our server was on top of anticipating our needs and finding ways to make sure both adults and kids had everything they needed. If size is your main priority, it's smaller than others, but more than makes up for it in quality and variety of flavors. -Glass noodles: kids loved these too after they had their fill of our poke bowls. -Plantain: Was curious based on the unusual combination of flavors. I recently stopped in for a weekday lunch and was surprised to see this place packed! Lunch is typically a slower time for local restaurants - but you can tell Mi Kitchen is a favorite for folks who live and work in the area. Even still, my friend and I were seated right away, and the service was incredibly fast and friendly from start to finish. We opted to share a few different dishes - which I would highly recommend given the style of Mi Kitchen's menu! This is not your traditional "everybody order an entree" type of restaurant - so just keep in mind who you're dining with. We shared the Mi Cucumber, the Dumplings, the K-Pop Chicken, the Crispy Spicy Tuna and the Plantains. Honestly, it would be difficult to pick a favorite bite from this menu. Everything was fresh and flavorful - and you can really taste every ingredient they're including. The prices aren't bad either - especially when you keep in mind the quality of the food you're ordering. Found an unexpected gem in Franklin, TN, south of Nashville. Mi Kitchen features Asian Fusion entrees. It was a very inviting place to enjoy a date night or to fly solo. Quaint seating with just the right amount of lighting to make everyone look great! Loved the atmosphere. I sat at the bar because I wanted a quick meal and drink. The bar service was excellent and very courteous. I got the smashed cucumbers, which is a must try and the crispy Korean soy ginger wings. The food was delightful. I drank my dessert. All of my friends had been here before. I was the only newbie. We were able to make a reservation online. The restaurant itself was so pretty inside. Really nice ambience. If you get the Crispy Spicy Tuna, I suggest paying the extra +$3 for 2 more pieces, even if there are 2 of you sharing. $13/3ea = $4.33/ea vs. $16/5ea = $3.20/ea. Udon was tasty and I loved the Tuna Poke. It had rice, greens, crunchy things in there, with a nice chili oil on top. hmmmm.... We need to go back to try a lot of different items that we didn't get but wanted to. Best to go with at least 4 people to get more different plates to share. Definitely book your seats on Resy ahead of time...there is limited seating. Be ready for the bill as it will hit you...for a tapas, it's expensive when you want to try several things. The service was great and attentive, they gave us the run down about how its a tapas style restaurant and what was their favorite dishes. I would highly recommend the edamame dumplings, the cucumbers, and the glass noodles (japchae), and octopus dish (delicious with the Shishito pesto sauce and crispy quinoa!!). We also ordered lamb chops (wish there were a bigger portion), kimchi risotto (which octopus was WAY overcooked), k wings ( not the best but was yummy). They were steady and the rush started to come in around 5:15 pm. Its important to have a reservation. If not you have to sit by the bar. Which is fine also. The ambiance felt like a little hidden gem in nashville, even though we were in Franklin. Extremely cozy and inviting. The service was wonderful from the host. The food did take a littler longer then we would have liked to come out. The guy behind the bar not sure if he spoke enough English to understand when I was talking to him. The food all sounded great, they had a limited menu for vegetarian options. More for carnivores and pescatarian. The prices are expensive when compared to the amount of food you get. The cauliflower taco was great, just missing some type of sauce to counter act the dryness. Plantains we're my favorite, not the goat cheese. That's only because I don't like the pungent taste. The cucumber salad was on the smaller size but very flavorful bursting with nice complexity from all of the chili oil, other ingredients mixed together. Mi Kitchen Can I give 6 stars? Well, 5 will have to do. Great spot, superb service, Korean tapas style food was outstanding, a wonderful evening! The restaurant is located in a retail strip (for some reason, these tend to run together for me) but there seemed adequate parking out front. We made reservations, it was a Friday, and we're glad we did. They seated us on time and our server, Abby, was attentive and professional. She kept the dishes arriving in a timely manner all evening. We were a party of four and ordered the K-pop chicken, Kimchi Risotto with Shrimp, Gnocchi Poke, Udon, Edamame Dumplings, and Glass noodles. Every dish was well prepared, with fresh flavor and so so tasty! We literally could not pick a favorite. The K-Pop chicken had the most incredible sauce, the Gnocchi Poke was also really good(we wished we had some bread to sop up every drop of the sauce though! It was really delicious!). Udon was incredible and the Glass Noodles were also wonderful (those mushrooms just soaked up all the great flavors). Edamame Dumplings were so good that even the member of our party who doesn't like truffle enjoyed them! The only negative for me was the Kimchi Risotto, the Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the risotto was very good but there was a surprise element, squid. Not sure if this is always part of this dish but the flavor permeated much of the dish and frankly, I am just a so-so fan of the squid so I might have passed? But still it was good to try. That's the beauty of the Tapas meal after all! I was also lured in like a moth to the flame, by the lights of the Capri Moon and tried one of those, the Cucumber version. Not overly sweet, fresh and refreshing. It arrives in a pouch like an adult juice pouch with a straw and glowing light nestled amongst the ice. Very festive! After our main dishes we were actually very satisfied, BUT somehow found room to sample both desserts on the menu: the bread pudding and the Caramelato. The bread pudding was really good, Vanilla Gelato was great and the berry compote was fresh and flavor FULL. BUT that Caramelato! Oh boy, that was fantastic! If you are a fan of the Caramel (and I am!) this will hit the spot. Luscious homemade salted caramel, with the crunchy bits that are a nice counter to that beautiful vanilla gelato. Sometimes a restaurant throws a couple of desserts on the menu as an after thought and they can really disappoint, NOT here! Save room, you won't be sorry. During dessert Chef came by to check on us. Holy moly! The food was AMAZING!!! Hands down best Asian food in middle TN. We ordered the K Pop Chicken which was crispy, sticky and delicious! We also ordered the Glass Noodles which had yummy mushrooms, an incredible umami bomb! I ordered the edamame dumplings as a starter and they were made with perfectly thin wrappers which is so very hard to find. As an Asian person, I'm so impressed! We also ordered a side of cucumbers which at first may sound boring to order, but you must try them because they were coated in the most delicious soy dressing that was perfectly balanced.
