    Cockroach was pregnant and dead.

DISGUSTING!!!!! COCKROACH ALERT!!! Went to Mi Pueblo to get food and waited for a while before being seated. it took a while for food but that's normal for this place. got my 7 mares soup.... started to eat the soup... then found a dead pregnant cockroach. wtf. there were three of us who ordered the soup!!! the manager said she's never seen it. how is that possible?! the cockroach was pregnant. this can't be the first time. look at my spoon in the photo! (for reference the spoon is a lot larger than normal soup spoons!)

Taco Tuesday carnitas, carne asada, shrimp and fish tacos!

I came here on Taco Tuesday on an off eating time at 2:00 pm. A lot of previous reviews discuss that serious wasn't great which wasn't an issue for us because we had a party of 2 and went during the week on off typical dining hours. For Taco Tuesdays they do carne asada, pollo and carnitas tacos for $1.50 and shrimp and fish tacos for $2. All of the tacos are made on homemade tortillas and you can tell by the quality. Honestly for the price for a battered shrimp/ fish taco you can't beat it. I have noticed it's hard to find Taco Tuesday deals in Ventura County and Mi Pueblo does pretty well. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. We also used our Yelp checkin for a free dessert we got the ice cream sundae. All the fixings on the sundae: vanilla ice cream, whip cream, sprinkles, cherry and chocolate sauce.

Good service and good food every time I come here. The molcajete mixto is my favorite

    Carnitas plate!

First time here and I was amazed! It was a Friday and they had karaoke! I had the Carnitas plate and OMG it was the best I've ever had! The Mecheladas were in point! The service was great! The ambiance was clean & nice! I am definitely going to return! Especially Fridays!

My Pueblo is a great, local, family run business! I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and they didn't disappoint. The food was so fresh, the drinks were huge, and the staff are super friendly. I couldn't decide if I wanted fish or shrimp tacos so our waiter, Sal suggested I try one of each. I'm also trying to eat healthy so he recommended I have them grilled instead of fried. It's always nice to have waiters who pay attention and make recommendations/suggestions based on your preferences. I also tried one of their micheladas and it was huge and delicious!

We have been here twice. This is relatively a new restaurant. It was a pizza parlor before. We are pleased to say that every time we've been here, we've been impressed with good quality food and good service. I recommend you try the jalapeño poppers. It's an open face jalapeño with cream cheese bacon and tomato and onions. Fantastic! My wife ordered the Menudo and she was very pleased with it. My father, hard to please, ordered the carne Asada burrito and he enjoyed it very much as well. I had the salmon, and it tasted fresh to me.

I live near by and have been wanting to try Mi Pueblo because it's so convenient for me and I love Mexican cuisine. The restaurant was clean and the parking ample but when you walked up to the restaurant there was an overwhelming smell of sewer which is not what you want before you eat. The hostess seated us right away. Our server Robert was very friendly and attentive. He checked on us frequently to make sure everything was ok. He filled out water promptly. He immediately brought us chips and salsa. I wasn't that impressed. It was kind of bland and tasted like tomatoes with not a lot of flavor. There are so many Mexican restaurants to chose from so you really need to impress me with the salsa as that is the first impression. My husband ordered the shrimp cocktail and I ordered the grilled shrimp platter as this is a seafood specialty restaurant. His shrimp cocktail was not anything special. I've had better at order at the window mexican restaurants in Ventura. My grilled shrimp was ok. The shrimp wasn't very big and most of them were not even clean. The rice was ok. Kind of bland like white rice with some flecks of corn. The sautéed vegetables were not very hot and tasted like soap. The potato salad had too many black olives and that overwhelmed the flavor. For the price point I was really expecting something more special. By the reviews some people had a better experience than we did. I don't know if I would go back. There are better seafood based Mexican restaurants.

For over 25 years, this spot has remained a "go to" in the community, and we love seeing these old school treasures continue to thrive. From the moment you walk in, you get those nostalgic, old-school vibes. Loved all of the decor and pictures of fisherman throughout the place. The service here was awesome. Super friendly and welcoming, and the gentleman at the register gave great recommendations. He knew the menu well and was able to help me out with some suggestions. Honestly, the menu is so extensive it was hard to choose, but here's what I went with: Fish & Chips (2 piece plate): 5/5. The batter was light yet perfectly crispy, not overly heavy, and the fish itself was fresh, flaky, and high quality. Paired with a solid tartar sauce, this is a must order dish. The French fries were classic and I loved their coleslaw. Grilled Thresher Shark Plate: 4.5/5. This one was a standout for me given how hard it is to find shark on menus nowadays. I actually grew up eating shark, so this felt super nostalgic. The staff highly recommended it, and I'm so glad I listened. The grilled shark was mild, tender, and full of flavor thanks to their delicious balsamic glaze marinade. If you've ever been curious about trying shark, this is the place to do it. I'll be back again for this soon. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying and the best part? It doesn't break the bank. Prices were reasonable and portions were generous. Definitely check them out if you haven't already, a great old school restaurant in Oxnard.

The breeze while sitting outside was absolutely perfect and made the whole experience even better. Now, let's talk about these charbroiled oysters... BABE! ‍ They HIT THE SPOT for me! Absolutely delicious and definitely one of my favorite parts of the meal. The fish sandwich was light, flaky, and flavorful, and I really enjoyed it. The French fries, however... chile, I wasn't too crazy about those. They gave me bottom-of-the-batch fry vibes--you know when you fry a batch and end up with all those tiny little pieces mixed in with the big, long fries? Yeah... that's what I felt like I got. And I have to give a BIG shoutout to my waitress, Genesis (I believe that was her name). She was an absolute dream! She was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and made some really satisfying recommendations. Her service and expertise definitely added to the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed myself.
