Today was my 4th visit. First 3 were great, but not tonight. New salsa - Like something you would get at Chi-Chis or Applebee's. Tomato with a little spice, not traditional Mexican sauce. So disappointed as I used to love this place. Stopped by and picked up a carne asada torta for lunch and it was disgusting. There was no meat only burnt crispy pieces that looked like the grill scrapping that come off when you clean it. The bread was soaked in brown guacamole and beans. We were craving mexican food for breakfast and found this place on a sunday morning. I ordered the menudo and it was good. The tripe was really clean and the broth was good. The home made flour tortillas were delicious. My husband ordered a chili rellano (spelled reyano on the menu) chimichunga. Apparently, it was a first for the waitress. It was very cheesy. My son in law ordered a chimichuga, sopes and tostada. My daughter ordered two tacos. The meats were good. They ordered coffee. It was diner coffee with powdered cream. Mi Ranchito is a diamond in the rough, as they say. Not what I was expecting, and yet the food was a complete home run! My friends from school live within walking distance, and decided to buy me lunch due to my recent surgery and them being such awesome friends! I trust their palate seeing as how we are in the culinary program together, therefore when I saw the two to-go boxes full of HALF ORDER nachos, my jaw dropped! Finally the sustenance I had been craving something of substance! Carne Asada, beans, cheese, guacamole, creme, pico, and pickled jalapeños! They were so good, and there was so much for only being a half order that I was in heaven! The trick is to order TWO, Half Orders instead of one full order...you get more ;) I was so enveloped in my nachos, I hadn't noticed another of my friends had ordered theirs on fries with chorizo!!!! He offered me some and HOLY CHORIZO! The chorizo gods are singing, this greasy, delicious sausage couldn't have found a better home than on top of crinkle cut french fries! My roommate decided to get Mi Ranchito for her dad's birthday. We got three California burritos, one lingua burrito, one chicken burrito and two tacos. We ordered through the phone (Covid of course), my roommate went in and grabbed it and left. The staff was wonderful and quick! The price for all the food was fabulous and the taste was amazing!! Hidden little taqueria right off Valley road. Mi Ranchito has been my go to taqueria since being a college student at UNR. Food is always good, service is friendly and fast, and the price is so reasonable. $6.50 for a burrito with your choice of meat and everything in it. Burrito is pretty big too. $1.30 for tacos which are amazing. They also have specials that are prices you can't beat. My favorite is the burrito and 2 tacos special for $8. If you are able to finish all that food I salute you! I don't know why people go to these fake Mexican places these days. A true hole-in-the-wall place with classic Mexican food at reasonable prices. I agree with everyone else that this place has great burritos and tacos. Their al pastor and carnitas are great and so is the classic carne asada. Their salsa goes good on just about everything. It has some heat, but it's not too spicy. What I find myself ordering a lot here, though, is the chilaquiles verdes. Again, they're spicy, but not too spicy and they come with rice, beans, sour cream and guac (free of charge!) They taste just like my mom's and for that Mi Ranchito will always be where I go when I have a craving for home. read more

Some people don't like their burritos with rice and beans but I love it, it's full of flavor--especially with the guacamole they add at no additional charge! Not going to lie. I pulled up this place on yelp, then we took a lyft over to Mi Ranchito. It was my daughters first time in a lyft, then we pull up here and I was a bit skeptical to walk out. I don't know Reno, but I'm guessing this isn't the prettiest side of town. We walk in, and there is a large group, a few other families and a couple open tables. We sit in the booth and order. The prices are perfect. I ordered the carne asada tacos and a beer (can't remember if it was a Victoria or pacific) and my husband ordered the carnitas. We sit and snack on chips and salsa while our food comes out. My daughter immediately regrets her decision to order a pepsi when she see the restaurant serves jarritos. The waitress kindly makes the quick switch in her drink order. :) The tacos came out and they hit the mark! Yummy flavorful tacos. Delicious Mexican food. Authentic and flavorful. My hubby had the heuvos rancheros and I had 2 Chile verde tostadas. Both were good. There was a mix up on his eggs, language barrier? They fixed it but by then I was done and the rest of his food was cold. I think this wouldn't be a problem in the future and she just didn't understand. I had one each of chicken, carnitas and carne asada. They came all hard shell which wasn't how I ordered them but it was ok. All the meats were tender and juicy and had really good flavor. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. There was also tomato, guacamole, and cheese. All delicious, however my only complaint with these delicious tacos is that under the meat was beans. Went here because the reviews showed 4.5 stars...no way. Chips were stale, salsa was a bit spicy and had some flavor with no consistency, guacamole had to be out of a bag and lacked flavor as well. I ordered an alpastor taco which was okay - recommend them for a small snack (extra small). I also ordered a carne asada burrito. I called early on a Saturday not knowing the restaurant was still closed but someone answered the phone. I asked what time the restaurant opened and if they had menudo. The person said they would be opening at 9am and that the menudo would be ready by the time they opened. When I got there they were very pleasant. I ordered the menudo and it was really good.
