We had just left a magic show a block away and called to see if they could seat us (8:45). The hostess was lovely and said to come right over. We walked in the door and were warmly greeted and taken to our table. Our server was very helpful and the owner came by as well and told us about the menu selections and homemade pastas. I still think about the agnolotti ever since last year. I went to Mia Francesca's on a second date, and our meal made me nearly forget that I didn't want a third date with him lol. Only once before in my life have I eaten a meal so delicious that it has ruined all other versions for me. Tonight, that happened a second time as I had Mia Francesca's linguini with scallops, shrimp, and clams (usually mussels but we had a substitution). That dish will haunt me (in a positive way?) for the rest of my life. The service was incredible from all sides, including folks who were not just our incredible waitress Scarlet. Food is great but the restaurant is insanely loud and dark. My most recent visit was quite uncomfortable but I enjoyed my meal and dessert.

The food, service, and ambiance are all incredible. We came here with low expectations as it's tucked between multiple shops and not in the most happening area but we were blown away. It's been many years since I had dinner at Mia Francesca and I had time so I thought what the heck.... I was able to find a seat at the bar. Byron, bartender, had greeted with a smile and presented the menus. At the same time, asked about a cocktail which I just ordered a coke since I had to work a double shift the next day. While Byron was working on some drinks, Cosme had dropped off the coke and took my order. He was very pleasant - actually, both of the gentlemen were very personable. The menu is very well planned out - a little bit of everything. I decided order the New York Strip and Potato special. While waiting for my meal, I had turned and gobbled up the great bread. The oil had a little bit to it, but very good. No bread or oil was left when I was done. The meal was delivered to me within a reasonable time. There was just enough grilse left on the steak to keep the meat juicy and favorable. The melted garlic butter over the steak was incredible!!! The potatoes were crispy on the outside and tender inside. Both gentlemen had checked in with me regarding the meal without being overbearing. Of course, I did save room for dessert. The dessert menu has about eight different items to choose from. I had ordered the Apple Crostrada. Very good to end the evening with. This is a pretty good Italian restaurant. I came here with a large party for my 30th birthday and they accommodated us just fine. Service was pretty good considering how large the party is. Just note that they were pretty strict about the no ID, no alcohol rule. Bring your ID! They had this special half price wine on the day that we went (Wednesday?) so that helped a lot with costs. The portion sizes were very large here. I got the veal medallions and I'm pretty sure I could have eaten this for 2 days or so. Flavor was tasty and cooked right. read more

Went here on a date, and we had a great time. If you come at peak hours, expect a wait. Luckily I made reservations. The service was fast and friendly and they have a good wine list. The menu is only 1 page but it covers all of the bases and has good options, but be ready to eat and eat hearty. Nothing seemed super healthy, and I had the primavera. That said, the food was awesome. My primavera was great and my date's chicken was good (according to her). The portions are huge, and of course there is bread beforehand. We skipped on appetizers and desserts but they sounded great. The only complaint I had was that the atmosphere is just okay. I was looking for a different brunch spot this morning and walked into Mia Francesca on accident. I was with my niece and it was such a pleasant surprise. The food , the staff the music was perfect. Even the manager (Linda) came over to talk to my niece for a few minutes which was really nice. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon which was perfect. And my niece had the Americano which has 2 eggs , bacon with sourdough bread. She loved it. I would definitely go back again for brunch. read more

Ya know what? This fixture on Clark has stood the test of time and still serves some of the best Italian in all of Chicagoland. We were here for a group dinner and enjoyed it end to end. From seating us an hour before our reservation, to the friendly and attentive service, to perfect pacing of each course, and of course great tasting food, we left happy and I was thrilled to have smiling clients. The proscuitto, warm kale, carpaccio, and bruschetta appetizers were crowd pleasers, as were the entrees-- salmon and lentils with a side of linguine, ravioli, linguine w/shrimp, shrooms, and asparagus, shells w/shrooms and ham, and striped bass. Loved it so much I had to go twice in one week. Went with my 2 girlfriends one night and had to return with my boyfriend the same week. The ambience is cozy with a great vibe. The staff was very attentive and worked hard to make sure we were satisfied, especially noticing Paisley and Isaiah.  Paisley had such an upbeat personality and was very hospitable, which made us feel very welcome. Isaiah was observant and efficient to customer needs.  Everything I've tried on the menu was nothing but fantastic.  Some of my favorites, the carpaccio, sautéed wild mushroom, homemade meatballs and whitefish.  Will definitely frequent often. read more

I admittedly don't go to Francesca's very often, but it's always very good and then I wonder why I don't go more often. We came in the other week and got a salad and pastas. They Caesar was simple but tasty. The pasta was fantastic. I got the butternut squash tortelloni. They rotate their seasonal dishes frequently so this likely won't be on the menu for long. But it was excellent. The squash melted away in the brown butter sauce. It was surprisingly light but full of flavor and really smooth. I would get it again in a heartbeat. And the tortelloni were quite sizable as well. Loved it. My wife is gluten free so the only gluten free pasta is penne, but it was served in a tomato sauce with broccoli and goat cheese. Nothing overly fancy but it combined really well. Look forward to returning. read more

This neighborhood staple has definitely lost its luster on every level. What was for years a reliable fun spot with basic but solid Italian cuisine, along with a golden front of the house crew that kept customers engaged and coming back is no more. Food is mediocre at best, basically an Italian wok where they just throw in ingredients, stir up some pasta and voila (fried calamari is still really good), with a few acceptable but far from memorable non-pasta menu items. When I walked in, I thought that it would be your casual restaurant. No, it was so delicious!!! I got the salmon, it was delicious! And I liked that one of the appetizers, the shrimp, I forgot the name, but the plant around it was meant to be eaten! Most of the time it's just for show. GREAT spot! We tried a number of things: rigatoni with broccoli and sausage, gnocchi with sausage added, margarita spinach, and charcuterie board-- all were VERY good Charcuterie board had a really great spread and a good amount of food. Came here for dinner after a show at the Vic. 25 years ago, this was my favorite restaurant as a young grad student living in Wrigleyville, so nostalgia brought me back. I have eaten at many of the other Francesca establishments-many! in the years since, but nothing compares to the food and service we had at the "OG" Mia Francesca. Our server Eugen was phenomenal. Made great recommendations on wine and food. The Osso Bucco special was the best we'd ever had! We enjoyed a relaxed and delicious meal and really enjoyed talking to Eugen and the manager who were so warm and inviting. Can't wait to go back! read more

My first visit to Mia Francesca was on New Year's Eve, 2014. We sat next to a very loud table of 12. It was nearly impossible to get our waiter's attention. I checked my phone and he didn't come around to get our entree orders for 50 minutes. Five-oh. Fifty. Minutes. Granted, the place was packed for New Year's, but that table told us they pre-booked a package. We, too, had made reservations, so it's not like they didn't know they'd be busy. You'd think a manager would swoop in when they saw us waving at the oblivious waiter. It seemed like a total breakdown of operations. I'm trying to take that with a grain of salt. Too often on Yelp, people blast a restaurant for circumstances out of its control. Yes, they should have been more heavily staffed. Or they could have apologized. Or comped a glass of wine. But they didn't. And that put an unfortunate bad taste in my mouth. Now, to the food... * Prosciutto con Burrata - prosciutto di parma with creamy burrata cheese, basil-pine nut pesto, balsamic glaze and extra virgin olive oil. I loved this. The prosciutto was great. I used it to roll up some burrata bites. Most excellent. * Pollo Arrosto alla Romano ($17) - Roasted half chicken with garlic, shallots, rosemary, lemon and olive oil, served with roasted potatoes. Quite good. An enormous serving for $17. The chicken sits in a pool of delicious gravy-type goodness. I couldn't eat much of this because I went to town on the complimentary bread while waiting a minor eternity to get our entrees. I believe Mia Francesca could be an awesome place on a quieter night. This place is outstanding. The Italian food is the best in the city and located in Wrigleyville which is a safe but vibrant area. I got Seafood Linguine and my partner got a perfectly cooked Whitefish. They were both tremendous. The staff, Alphonso, was very good kind ​and professional. They had a Jazz band playing on Thursday which was very classy but not too loud. The atmosphere was very festive and delightful all around.
