Spaghetti Bolognese - excellent; my favorite spaghetti out!
    Kelley B.

Overall I really enjoyed my dinner here at PR. The service was nice and the atmosphere for dinner was very cozy and intimate inside. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese and it was the best spaghetti I've ever had out. I would definitely come back! The only thing I didn't like was the bourbon cocktail I had. My waiter described it as their take on an old fashioned and spirit-forward. It came out and it was in a large bowl glass with a ton of ice. It definitely wasn't spirit-forward and tasted more like a tiki drink. The drink itself wasn't terrible, but it would be good to make sure to describe the drinks more accurately because something similar happened to my husband who was supposed to be getting a Manhattan-like drink that came out on the rocks. So I will be back, but will just stick with wine next time we are in town.

We went for Valentine's Day and it was very nice, great atmosphere. We got there right as they opened and got sat at the window by the bar. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to what we would've hoped. The drinks were amazing! The focaccia was more like toast and hard to eat. The bolognese was great was amazing flavor but the red pepper pasta I got lacked spice and a prominent flavor. Would love to try it again maybe not on a holiday! Service was great and our server was so sweet, I wish I remembered their name.

We had a wonderful time tonight here for our friends birthday. Everyone loved their food. I had the meat lasagna. That béchamel sauce was to die for in this dish.

Lovely Italian spot in Lakeview. They have inside and outside seating but outside can get filled very quickly during dinner time. Had the meat lasagna which was delicious and the pasta with lobster special, my only slight negative was that the description said it had mildly spicy sauce but tasting it seemed like there was no spice at all. Overall great service and employees are very attentive.

This is a lovely little neighborhood gem. I was a bit torn between 4 or 5 stars, but being one of the few local joints in the area and having such a kind staff pushed me to choose 5. I came in here when visiting, and I love that this is a walkable restaurant in the neighborhood, there aren't a TON of options super close. The ambience inside is a lovely, intimate spot with wood tables and brick walls. We came early for dinner to avoid crowds, and the noise level was fine. It started to pick up as we were leaving and was getting louder. Our server (pretty sure it was Aaron?) was so nice and upbeat. The host was also really nice and helpful. I love limoncello so was very excited to have that as my before-dinner drink. My mom got a cosmo and it was lovely. I don't usually like cosmos, but there was something unique (and not too cranberry) about it so I definitely had several "sample sips" of hers. The apps were super tempting but we wanted to eat our meal so we skipped. Good thing. I got the scallop risotto blackboard special. It came out on a plate and was a bit more "liquidy" than I prefer. I think that might be a chosen style, but I prefer a little bit more rigid. The scallops were plain cooked and had a great consistency. I wouldn't have minded them having a little bit more to them, but the flavors of the rest of the dish were plenty and they didn't really need more (call me greedy). The dish could easily have fed two, but I ate it all (and was VERY full afterwards). My mom got the bucatini (I think also on special?) and added a side of meatballs for protein. The meatballs were huge -- practically a meal in itself. She took them home for 2 days of leftovers. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the flavor was lovely. I ate her leftover pasta for two days :) We had such a great time we tried to come back for a cosmo on a weekend night. It was packed (love to see local packed places!), and we didn't really feel like waiting. The host (same as before) was so nice and walked around the restaurant so he could give us a timeline on when a bar or table might open up. We just came from dinner and were only going to have a drink, so we opted not to wait. I highly recommend dining and drinking here, though!

Needed a carb load for the Chicago 1/2 and we were near Wrigley. A quick yelp search helped us find this place. We arrived and were lucky to be seated right away on a busy Saturday night! Food came out quick and it was perfect! Both of our dishes hit the spot! Place was dark with a great vibe. Perfect for a date night!

I'm baffled I have yet to review this neighborhood gem, as we have dined here numerous times (even back when they were Pizzeria Rustica) and have never been disappointed. PR Bistro is solid all around: super knowledgeable and attentive staff, warm cozy atmosphere, and the best part: the food. Oh, and the drinks! Great beer and wine selection, and tasty craft cocktails. Highly recommend checking out the blackboard specials as the chef is always issuing creative dishes but the regular menu items are amazing as well. The "worst" part of the visit is trying to decide what to order! They have a cute little sidewalk patio for dining Al fresco as well.

I've been to many restaurants in Chicago that are four stars that don't deserve them. This place currently sits at 3.8 stars but imo should be way higher. Upon entering, the owner greeted us at the door. He was warm, welcoming, and excited that we were there. He asked us our table preferences and found us a spot right away. Our server was nice, friendly, standard. The food was absolutely delicious and the bartender did an excellent job with the martinis. For their menu, it rotates based on season and the chefs specials. The decor and lighting was very great and this place also has a nice patio for outdoor dining. If you're in the area, be sure to stop in to this local restaurant--it will not disappoint. Overall, I'd give this place upwards of 4.5 stars. Happy eating!! Protip: check out their food on Instagram in addition to here on Yelp! Also, if you try the deserts here, leave a review so I can read your reviews! [One small suggestion to the owners...we like to wash our hands before our dinner but the restroom has doors that pull open from the inside with no paper towels to use on the handle. I'd suggest adding foot pulls to the doors for guests.]

Not the best photo but this apple pie with gelato and caramel drizzle was fantastic!

Delicious dinner, great service! We had some pretty amazing homemade pasta and will definitely come again! It's a smaller restaurant, so you may have to wait a few minutes for a table but the turnaround is quick!

Lovely place with a lovely atmosphere regardless of the covid changes. Sure masks are required, tables are timed and seats are limited but you are still greeted with a welcoming staff and a clean table. Menus are to be found online and after ordering, the team is quick to respond to any requests which is appreciated. I got the chicken linguine which was good. Could have used more acid and mine was not hot likely because we were waiting for someone else in the party's food. I debated about the lobster ravioli and after trying my friends, I was pleased I did not get it. I'm sure there was lobster inside but not in the bites I had. It looked like imitation crab and just did not have the best flavor. I've had other food here and it was better than average hence the review. I'll continue to come here and try but will refrain from the things I've tried to date.

    My special Birthday dessert !!

My friend and I went to PR Italian Bistro for my birthday. I had a Seafood stuffed lasagna and it was the best lasagna I have ever had. I am Italian so growing up I have had my share of Italian food including lasagna, spaghetti and every sort of pizza imaginable. It was just incredible tasting and better than any other lasagna I have ever had. The owner, Stephano was there ensuring things were getting cooked perfectly. Our ham & cheese appetizer was great, wine (very kind lady bartender) and dessert were fantastic. The owner even prepared a special Birthday dessert for me specifically. The atmosphere was great as well as the whole experience. This place is definitely a 5 Star Place and a 5 Star Review. My friend had lamb chops with linguine and it was cooked and tasted incredible too.

I came here for a business dinner with about 6 others. The only frustrating part of our experience was we made a reservation online weeks in advance and when we arrived we were told that they basically overbooked every night and when you reserve a seat you're just saying you're coming. So we showed up and were told we were going to wait an hour. It sounds like they are super busy, but there are better ways to ensure the restaurant is selling every available seat rather than offering basically fake reservations that don't mean anything when you get there. Someone in our group complained enough about it that they sat us and did honor the reservation which we appreciated - given that it was a business dinner though, I think it was awkward we had to do that. It just was a LOT of work to organize multiple out of towners getting together and to show up and potentially wait an hour would have been so inconvenient. They really should fix this problem. The reservation issue aside the experience was great. The service is just sort of meh I didn't feel like they were above or beyond and didn't note anything exceptional there. But the food..... the food is the main event for sure. Everything I tried I loved. I had just had Italian the day before so I didn't want anything that felt "too Italian" (lasagna, pasta, pizza, etc) so I got the braised short rib over polenta which was a nice change of pace. It was amazing. Some of the best polenta I've ever had. I am already looking forward to the next time I can go back! The food here is outstanding. If you are able to go, I would highly recommend it.

The Alla Vita chopped was pretty standard, kinda reminded me of Olive Garden salad lol. The stars of the meal were the tagliatelle and cappelletti pasta. Both were super flavorful and pasta cooked well. The bone-in ribeye was a little on the sweeter side, definitely lacked a crust and salt. I'd pass on the steak IMO. Our biggest qualm was the timing of the dishes coming out. The pasta came out 30-35 minutes after the appetizer and salad which is fine, but the steak coming out 15 minutes after the pasta kinda ruined it. We'd love to eat the entrees (steak and pasta) together, and not finish our pasta first or let it go cold then eat steak alone.. ya know? We had ordered crispy potatoes but cancelled due to the wait. Ended the night with mango passion fruit sorbet with a prosecco float. Big mistake on the prosecco float haha it was so tarte and bitter, would def recommend trying the sorbet alone! Overall, glad we finally got to try this place. Focus more on the pastas and skip the steak. Very beautiful inside.
