My car suffered major body damage to my Bumper, Grill and Hood from a Deer that jumped into the road while I was driving. They worked very well with my Insurance, got me taken care of and set up without any difficulty and even gave me a ride to Hertz to get me a rental car. It only took a week to fix my car and have it cleaned and polished. When I went to get my car they had me in and out and even let me leave the rental car in their lot with in the hour. AAA referred me to Michael J's after I was rear ended and I highly recommend anyone looking for body work done on their cars to go to this shop! When I first arrived to the shop I walked through the garage and a mechanic immediately approached me and politely asked if I needed help. When I told him I had an estimate appointment he escorted me through the garage into the main office and directed me to the proper place to get checked in. Inside in the office you could definitely feel a sense of community and friendliness among all of the staff to the customers that cohesively work together. The reception staff are very concise and helpful with the checking in paperwork. Multiple staff members asked if I was being helped, offered me coffee, and donuts while I waited. My presence was being acknowledged and I definitely appreciate that as a customer. John was my estimater/adjuster and he was super helpful and friendly throughout the whole estimate process. He explained the process that my bumper was going to be going through in the time of repair and also clearly explained the quality level of work that Michael J's hold to themselves. He also personally called me when my car was ready and was extremely helpful in the exit walk through of my repairs. When I *tried* to leave my estimate appt, Jeff, who was on the phone at the time, but of course I didn't realize, was not hesitant at all when I asked him for help in exiting the lot after I embarrassingly failed after 3 times of not being able to back out. He patiently guided me out of the lot, again, deeply appreciate the gesture. Dropping off my car/checking in was also done with Jeff and he was clear and thorough with the process and cleared up all the questions I had and was realistic about being able to come in contact with me to clear up a clerical error on the paper work but assured someone would contact me no later than the following day & my adjuster, John my adjuster, did, in fact, followed through on that phone call. My car bumper looks absolutely brand new and they even washed and vacuumed my whole car. Also their turn around rate is amazing. I dropped my car off on a Monday morning expecting it to not be ready until at least Wednesday. My car was ready for pick up Tuesday morning. I'm really happy and satisfied that I decided to have my car done at this shop. All of the staff is extremely helpful, patient, and friendly. You can tell that are many customers who always return to Michael J's shop for services. Our 2018 Buick Regal station wagon was rear-ended Jan 9, 2020 by a Tesla. The Tesla was totaled and caused significant damage to our car. The problem we encountered was our wagon was made in Germany, introduced in 2018 and discontinued worldwide in 2020, had limited sales in the U.S., thus parts are difficult to obtain. Michael J's worked around the problem by repairing the car in logical stages depending on availability of GM parts. This process went from Jan 9 to April 20 when the car was delivered back to us! Jeff Ryan, owner, and his crew worked diligently through all the Covid19 red tape, GM strike hampering the supply chain and complexity of repairing a car with significant driver assist electronics. He couldn't have encountered a greater degree of difficulty in repairing this car. There were moments when I was close to throwing in the towel and I didn't know what to expect with regard to the quality of the repairs. I should not have worried. After driving the car over the last two weeks, I can not tell that the car was ever damaged. It is really unbelievable but everything works - all the driver assist features, automated rear lift-gate, etc. and the car's all wheel drive and rear wheel steering are perfect. The car handles like new - actually better than new because we no longer hear a couple of rattles the car had when new! Michael J's was the preferred repair shop by not only Capitol Buick but also by State Farm Insurance. His team did a perfect job with the body damage, and made my 6yrs old Lexus look new again! He explained the tri-coat process and provided life time warranty. As a courtesy, he went out of his way to buff a scratch and touch paint small dings here and there to prevent rust, beyond what he quoted me for. That's a winner's business model for customer satisfaction. The repair was done 3 days before AAA guideline date, which made my family happy since we don't have to tolerate the rental car's chemical smell anymore. 5 Star on estimate, body repair, drop-off, pick-up. but... -1 on missing original completion date. -1 on leaving my EV battery drained. -1 on charging for something they didn't do (fuel door label) -1 on disconnecting my subwoofer/amp and didn't re-connect. Lifetime warranty is useless because I can't be without my car for any length of time. Dropped off Monday Oct 1st; said was "likely" going to be done by end of week (5th), parts already in shop. Also said I'd get a call on Friday the 5th. Didn't get a call so I called on 5th around 1pm, and my service adviser went home for the weekend. Got phone update on following Monday and car was just painted. Got another call near end of business on Wednesday; car was ready. Picked up Thursday 11th and the EV battery was completely drained that I couldn't make it home on electric power 5 miles way. FYI, car was dropped off with battery at 90+% charged. read more

The estimate process was comprehensive, professional and friendly. The repairs took two 1/2 days as promised. I was advised both by voice mail and email of completion. This place was great. My insurance claim was for damage on the front of my car, which they fixed and made look like new, but I also had some damage on the back of my car that they fixed. The back's not perfect, but they buffed out the scuffs and tried to cover the missing paint spots, all for no extra money. They also picked me up from my house when my car was ready. So impressed with my car after getting it back from Michael J's Body Shop (4th St location). They did an incredible job replacing my front bumper after someone backed into me lol They were so flexible with my schedule when it came to picking up the car. It was done a day earlier (Woop!) but I had a day packed full of events and wouldn't make it in that night. They gladly kept my car until I could make it over. Mike Goulart is the main person I was in contact with and he was such a delight. He was nice and funny. I told him I wouldn't be able to make it the night my car was ready and asked if they could keep it another day. He said "oh no! We'll have to burn the car down!" Hahaha I enjoy when people act like real people and can be friendly and funny, but still in a professional way. I also dealt with Joanna (I hope that's her name) and one other woman at the front desk (smaller brown haired with glasses, kinda sassy lady - but I loved her!) the two women at the front desk were super helpful and friendly too. They even fully detailed my car! When I dropped off my car it was so dirty on the inside and outside, but when I picked it up it was looking shiny and fresh! My vehicle was damaged during shipping as I moved from MI to CA,it was a $2200 damage that I was looking at. Right from the moment I called these guys to the end, I was very well taken care of. One of the represenatatives Janie ( hope I spelt that right) actually negotiated with the shipping company on my behalf making sure that I did not have to go through the hassle of dealing with those 'Shipping Guys' and making sure that they paid for the damages upfront . Apart from that extremely professional gesture, their work was upto the mark as well and it was finished on time too. I was a litttle skeptical about this business at first because they don't have the best rating on Google( Yelp's is great though) but my experience has been 5 stars all the way. What prompted me to write this review actually was the fact that just today I walked into their garage without an appointment to get my old MI license plates removed and new CA ones installed ( The salt from MI had corroded the bolts and the head had broken off of one and it was not coming out) and these guys( Jeff and team) did me that favor without a frown on their face. They refused to take money even though I insisted, that for me was excellent customer service and a great gesture! From Disaster to Heaven! This place really showed me 5 star service from start to end. I was rear ended in my brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson and had about $5,000 in total damage. I took my car there to get an estimate, which was free and fast. Then I contacted the shop to order the parts, they called me once they arrived, and had my car completely fixed and brand new in less than 4days. I have never seen this type of service in any type of auto body shop before. Every detail of the car was spotless, and you can not even tell it was wrecked. (They also detailed every inch of the inside of the vehicle, even under the floor mats) I was fortunate enough to work with the Owner, Jeff Ryan, and I'm just so happy that this process of being rear ended is over, and I'm so thankful for the customer service and professionalism of this shop. From beginning to end the customer service was beyond stellar - I even told my bf after my initial estimate visit that you just don't see that level of customer service anymore.
