I asked why - the initial date was reasonable for what needed to be done - and I believe they prefer to give you worst-case scenario. Fine with me! Drop-off easy. They work with Enterprise directly so getting to pick-up rental was a breeze. They worked directly with my AAA insurance and I never really thought about the car while it was away. I had notifications via text with updates. Very helpful. (NOTE: if they tell you to WAIT FOR THE CALL TO PICK-UP DO! The auto reminder was a tad over zealous!) Sergio was the guy who took care of everything. Loved working with him! I am really mad I forgot to get the ladies' names in the front office. They were also wonderful. My car (2018 Ford Escape) looked so great! This is one of those businesses you don't want to frequent, so the least you do is tout their praises instead! read more

Earlier this month I not only had someone try to break into my vehicle and I was later sideswiped while driving my truck. Owner Jamie followed up with me after receiving a quote at Toyota and walked me through my best options. Pros: - Customer Service was great! Front desk was very friendly and available. The estimator was great in being fair and giving good insight with a fair price - Located in a good spot w/ abundant parking and a good area to be able to take the light rail or bus if you need to leave and come back - They are a state farm approved/recommended shop so that makes it easier if you are fixing w/ insurance Cons: - They have a lot of customers... A LOT! So the shop tends to be very busy and took a very long time before anyone even talked to me when i showed up for my appointment - Took over 2 weeks before even getting an appointment for an estimate and had to wait on hold for over 5+ min before I can get that done - Estimator was friendly and upfront that the parts will take 2 weeks and the repair work won't even start until 2 weeks after then would take at least another 2 weeks after that. So overall 6 weeks of work (hint: I didn't go w/ them and went w/ another shop that took 2 weeks for everything - read my other reviews to find out more!) Overall - I would say this shop is pretty legitimate and by the books. However, I did not go w/ them since it just takes way too much time to get anything done here. The company would benefit a little bit w/ either more ppl working or say no to a few customers. If you do not mind waiting or have a lot of time on your hands then this wouldn't be a bad option at all read more

My car had the misfortune of getting backed into right after New Year's Day while it was parked in the street. Luckily, the driver at fault was willing to go through insurance and cover me. This is where Michael J's comes in - they were one of the recommended body shops in the area by my insurance and they were able to take a look and estimate the damage a few days after the incident. Unfortunately for me, this happened right after the holidays and their backlog was quite long (think late February). Also, with all the supply chain impacts that haven't recovered, there wasn't a guarantee that the OEM parts would come on time. The team at Michael J's was great about keeping me updated on when those parts would come in and when they would be able to squeeze me in once they do arrive. After what seemed like forever for the parts to come in, they were able to get me in, get it done in the quoted time frame, and I am able to drive my car without a wrecked front bumper! I received a referral from Amica insurance to Michael J's. This shop is head and shoulders above any of the other shops on Amica's referral list. From start to finish, Lee took great care of us. He ordered the parts for our car, they came in, and Lee arranged to have our repairs completed in a few hours so that we would not need a rental car. This was a great experience! I would highly recommend this shop. There seem to be a lot of body shops in the area that want to take your car, disassemble it, order parts, wait for them to arrive, and then do the work. This could take weeks, and that's a long time to not have your car. I had an odd request as there had been a stubborn pregnant spider living in my left side mirror for weeks on end. I've tried spraying it with water and insect repellent but webs kept forming. I didn't trust myself to remove the mirror to clean out behind it so I brought it in here on a random Wednesday. I filled out some paperwork, Kevin looked at my situation and wasn't sure if someone was able to help me today. Armando took up the job, removed the mirror, cleaned out the webs and spider eggs behind it, reinstalled it and saw my front bumper was hanging off from an old car accident and offered to fix it too. Jeff was pretty awesome to work with. I was having an issue with the paint on my 2017 Tacoma. We went over the options and made a plan for the repairs. The quote come in under what I was expecting, which was a nice surprise. Jeff showed me around the facility. He also gave me some tips on keeping my ride in tip top shape for years to come. It is great to work with people that are passionate about their craft. Jeff let me know he would need to have my truck for about five days. On day three I received a phone call letting me know my baby was receiving some finishing touches and it would be ready to pick up within the hour. I have a 2010 Nissan Xterra that was hit on the rear end and needed the bumper, etc., replaced. Also, while there I asked them if they could do anything about the paint peeling off on the side of the vehicle without having to paint the whole vehicle. They removed the peeled paint along the side and carefully masked off the areas front to back that didn't need repainting. The new paint matched the old paint and blended perfectly along the side. It looked like new! I couldn't tell the newly painted areas from the non-painted areas. Lots of attention to detail. The job they did was amazing! Sergio wrote up the detailed work order and estimate went over it thoroughly with me. The other two men I was in contact with during the repair were very competent and courteous. I was kept informed the whole time and the work was completed when promised. I highly recommend Michael J's! read more

Just picked up my car from Michael J's on West  Taylor Street..From start to finish it was a very pleasant experience..I walked in without an appointment last week asking when I could get an estimate on some front panel damage from flying debris on the freeway. The receptionist said that I could get my car looked at in a few minutes...Leandro Abenoja, a collision consultant, then walked me through the estimate....he was very knowledgeable and shared with me what needed to be fixed and how long it would take...I dropped my car off Saturday morning knowing g they would not be able to start on it until Monday..by Wednesday afternoon I was able to pick up the car..exactly when Lee said. I was recommended this place by workers at Fremont Toyota where we always get our car services at. On 4/20/22 on my way going to work, I was in the parking garage and one of the workers ended up t bone me as I was turning to go into the other floor to park. All my passenger side was damaged so then I had to call my insurance and so on. Gave them this place called Michael js auto body ship off taylor st san jose. When I went to the body shop to meet with them, the customer service that was provided to me by all the staff was phenomenal. Very kind and pleasant to worm with as well as reassuring me that this process will go smooth. They even were accurate as to when my car will be ready given that a lot of parts are suffering a backorder all around the world. Still they let me know when my car will be ready. Janie the front desk lady was very sweet, the gentleman too *so sorry forgot his name but young guy* the day I had showed up to drop my car off to get fixed was on 5/8/22, Janie even helped me set up enterprise rental car place to come and pick me up to take me there to get my rental. Wow! So nice. And it was down the street about 7 mins away. The inside of the place looked cool, with sports pics of football. An awesome looking custom made couch *Cadillac model I believe* omg...so cool!!! Estimate when my car was done: 5/18/22. Showed up to pick up my car....ohhh my!!! The detail on it was perfect!!! Looking like new like if the accident never happened. It looked amazing, they did wonderful and service and all!!! And even they washed my car and vaccumed my inside too. Give them more than a 10!!! How about 100 .
