We always like this delicious New York style pizza whenever we visit Emerald Isle. They are friendly and helpful with suggestions. The service is quick and they do get quite busy during the summer so we usually pick it up (rather than wait for delivery). If you don't like New York style pizza...go elsewhere. read more

Manager is rude ignorant jerk. Refused to correct an issue caused by their online ordering system. Ordered pizza with the toppings, pizza showed up with no toppings. Ordered a burger with no bun, showed up on a bun. Manager told my wife that's the risk you take when ordering online. Instructed me to contact the credit card company if I wanted to dispute the charges. Refused to correct the order, refund my purchase or offer any sort of credit in the future. PSA::: 2/3 of the staff do not wear masks. Yes, that includes those handling your food aka touching your pizza with their bare hands with no masks on. This also includes those at the register handling cash and cards, as well as your food. In addition, although posted on their front door, masks on guests are not enforced and you will see the majority of guests (think takeout customers, not the guests eating indoors) also dancing to the tune of not wearing masks. Getting pizza was an after-thought after getting out of a movie last night, and this was the closest option available. My son-in-law ordered 3 large (extra large?) pizzas to go and we settled in for an approximately 15 minute wait. Having just had a lot of salty popcorn at the theater, and being a customer I didn't think it was out of line to ask for a cup of water, but no... The guy behind the counter promptly offered up a cup that he said he'd have to charge $2.60 for, or I could get a cheapo brand of bottled water for $1.50 (probably cost them less than .50 cents). Seriously? I can't expect to get a cup for ice water? I know that there are laws in other states that make this illegal, but I'm not so sure about No Carolina (I'll have to investigate this). I actually travel with someone that is required to take prescription medication & shudder to think that this/these parasites wouldn't make water available to him so that he could take his medication... As for the pizza... eh... nothing to remember. I would have thought that with a name like 'Michelangelo' that it would've been a masterpiece, but not even worthy of a 6 year old's finger-painting project. My family and I vacationed in Emerald Isle for the first time and wanted pizza. After reading reviews on Yelp, we were torn between Lazzara's and Michaelangelo's. On 9/17/15 we decided to order pizza. This time we order a large half pepperoni and half sausage. We also ordered a large half pepperoni and half sausage from Michaelangelo's. We ordered from Michaelangelo's first since reviews stated they were a little slow with delivery. We then ordered from Lazzara's. Staff were friendly at both restaurants on the phone and both drivers were friendly but Lazzara's arrived first even though we ordered from them second. Michaelangelo's came about 5 minutes later, so they weren't far off. After taste testing a piece of sausage from each, I believe that Lazzara's was better for the pizza and sausage but Michaelangelo's crust was better. The sauce for both was equally great. Ordered pizza for our first night so we relax after traveling. 90 minutes for delivery or 30 for pickup, so we opted for pickup. The large was large enough to feed 3 adults and 2 kids. Slices were huge and had to double cut for the kids. The crust was chewier than we like for pizza, but the taste was decent. The order of wings was dripping in sauce, a little too saucey for us. best described as "that'll do" pizza, gets the hunger job done. we ordered 2 drinks, cheese sticks, and a medium 3-topping, total came out to $36. service took a while but the place was really busy. our cheese sticks came immediately and tasted the way youd expect a cheese stick to taste. shortly after, our pizza arrived. A medium is pretty large and would suit at least 3 people comfortably, had i known that i probably wouldve ordered a small. the pizza was very hot, which was nice, just like with the cheese sticks, it tasted the way youd expect a slice of ny style pizza to taste. The one benefit i will give this place over others in the area is it has ample seating. We were on a day-trip to the area and not wanting to eat in our car or in a fly infested dining room, we chose this place because of the seating. concluding, I would return to michaelangelos if i needed a dine-in pizza option but may look elsewhere if i didnt. We ordered a few pizzas from this place and one of the pizzas had a quarter size half inch piece of dirt baked into the slice that I bit into. We were disgusted and called the store to explain the situation and ask them to rectify the situation. The manager was extremely aggressive and confrontational and told us to take it up with our credit card company if we wanted to dispute the charge because he was sure it wasn't dirt. I drove to the store to show them that it was in fact a chunk of dirt and then he agreed it wasn't just a piece of crust and it was dirt but that I had placed it in the pizza. He continued to berate me in the store saying they had 50 years of experience and to show him some dirt in his kitchen. It's absurd to even have this situation occur but then to treat a customer like that and say I wanted a free $15 pizza is beyond craziness. Wouldn't recommend anybody ever go here or order from here - you don't want globs of dirt in your pizza which you can see in the pictures below, much less to be treated like that from a restaurant that you're doing business at. My wife and I called ahead and ordered a pizza for eating in. When we got there it was almost ready. By the time we paid and got our drinks the pizza was done. It was fantastic. The crust is not cracker thin but also not thick. It held up to pepperoni sausage, green peppers and onions! We had a few extra pieces which we took home and reheated for a lunch later in the week and it was even good leftover! Definitely a great place for delicious pizza on EI. read more

My family and I've had a beach house in Emerald Isle for about 37 years and are basically locals here. We've loved this place for many many years but I'm DONE with them now. They will never know a bigger fan than me but they lost one tonight. It all started this past summer when we would try to call in for a to-go order and on every single occasion, their phone would ring busy. I thought that odd at the time but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were just that busy, especially with all the tourists here during peak season, etc. so I didn't think much of it. Then a number of times after that I'd come down to the beach on off peak times and they seemed to be playing the same little game. Once even, when I couldn't get through to their Emerald Isle location, I checked the store hours for the one across the bridge in Cape Carteret and we physically drove over there only to find that the employees had placed a handwritten "Closed" sign on the door an hour before their closing time. Unreal. They were still in there just bullshitting, staring at their phones, etc. I still didn't give up on them but I remember thinking wow, I wonder if the owner knows about their employees pulling this kind of shit to dissuade orders just so they don't have to work so hard. Again, I can kind of give them the benefit of the doubt if it's crazy with tourists and stuff but no, I've definitely seen with my own eyes that it's not that. So after four times of having this kind of stuff happen over the summer, I decided to try them again tonight. A Sunday night mind you, September 26, 2021. The summer is over and there is almost no one here and once again, at 6:30 pm the phones rang busy at the EI location and I couldn't get through. I knew immediately what it was after 30 minutes of trying so I drove the hell up there. I walked in and there was hardly anyone in the place and all the employees were just basically doing nothing, screwing around on their phones, etc.. There were no stacked up pizza boxes on top of the oven like it was July 4th weekend or anything, no lines, nothing. I told the rude cashier girl that I wanted to place a to-go order and she just rolled her eyes and begrudgingly took my order. And then instead of the normal 15-20 min wait time they give you over the phone, the rude bitch told me no, it would be 30-45 minutes. I couldn't believe it. Unbeknownst to her and the owners of this franchise, it will be my last, and hopefully the last of the many locals like me that I pass this along to. Sorry Michaelangelo's, you might have a timeless name and all but your time has come. Goodbye. read more

Be very careful when ordering online. Their ordering system does not work very well and even though you may pick toppings the store does not receive the order properly. Even worse once they discover the issue at the store and tell you that they're aware of the issue they require you to order a new pizza and pay again without refunding you. They instruct you to contact your bank or credit card company. Overall pizza quality is very poor customer service even worse.
