2 piece fish & chips
Tracy F.

No frills fish & chips. Cheap prices but delicious fish. Total hole in the wall. I was craving fish & chips on a cold day while I was in HB. Needed to go to Grocery Outlet and this place was next door. Only 2 tables inside. Greeted by a cute little Asian man who quickly took our order. Ordered the 2 fish plate with chips. Sodas are in a can so I stuck with water. Ready in 15 minutes. It came out piping hot. Not too many fries but fish was healthy portion. Extra charge for tartar sauce but you have to have it! January 2024 price for 2 piece fish & chips with tartar sauce was $7! Give it a try!! Oh, and they also have Chinese food!

Great deals to be had in this fish and chips establishment! Owner is very friendly, attentive and eager to please. Great to-go or partake inside the small cafe style space.

Max was our server and he took great care of us from beginning to end. We ordered the ceviche mixto to start. It was so tasty with all that fresh seafood in a light tangy sauce. We ordered fried tortillas to accompanied it. For the mains, we ordered the lomo saltado and the steamed black cod dish. This was one of the best lomo saltados that I've had. It had the charred smokiness reminiscent of the Chinese "wok hei" taste. The beef cubes were tender. The potato fries were perfect because they still had a bit of hardness and not all mush by the end of the meal. The portion was generous and easily can be split and shared with 2-3 people. The Chifa black cod dish was a smaller portion. The cod was buttery soft and had a very delicate flavor. We really like this dish too! We were treated to a complimentary sample of their sushi as well. So nice of them! It was a delicious smoky aburi salmon nigiri. That smoky taste was still in my mouth an hour after we left the restaurant! We will definitely be back when we're in the area again and will be telling all our friends about it. This restaurant has been opened only one year and I hope it will get more traction.

They tasted off enough that I had to spit mine out. To the restaurant's credit, they removed them from our bill without any issues, which I appreciated. The hamachi tostada with uni was probably the best thing we ordered, and the sushi sampler was also pretty good. Everything else fell flat. I didn't enjoy the ootoro with uni or the spicy tuna shoyu. The sesame black cod was completely overpowered by sauce, and the short rib was a major letdown. It took so long to come out that we almost canceled it, and when it finally arrived, the meat itself was tender, but the flavor was terrible. It just wasn't good. The pomegranate martini was also disappointing, and overall I didn't think the cocktail menu was very good. The only bright spot was our server, who was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The service here was actually great they were so friendly. Too bad the food didn't match the service. For the price, I expected so much more. Aside from two dishes, almost everything we ordered missed the mark. I left feeling disappointed and honestly regretted spending the money. Unfortunately, I wouldn't dine here again.

I just had a wonderful happy hour n dinner. Everything was perfect…read more We had garlic chicken wings, I wish I knew the name of the Chinese spice they used to marinate the wings with bc they were the tastiest wings I had ever had. The Brussels sprouts were not as crispy as they could be but flavorful. The shrimp tempura turned out to be sushi not real tempura. The lobster grilled is always so good bc it's grilled really grilled not faked in the oven. For $5 more you get garlic noodles so yummy bc they used real butter not margarine. At the entrance they had a beautiful Mount Fuji display as it turned out they had a new owner. I love this place n the only reason I don't come here more often is bc it's like an igloo here n I hate wearing a jacket while I'm eating . They are waiting for a liquor license so my husband was bent out of shape not having his sake w dinner, I dont drink but I'm having a problem w coke not coming out if a can , it was flat no gas. That said I'd still rate this 5 stars bc price is reasonable n the lobster was so succulent not. chewy like in most restaurants. I'll be baaaack!

They do this near the end of the month on Mondays. Unfortunately, this is their 3rd to last event as they're going to be doing some restructuring. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Drinks were flowing and the sashimi was non-stop. Nigiri and handrolls were also delicious and I ate until I was close to puking. It was super cool to be able to cut into the fresh fish from Mexico. It's definitely tougher than it looks. I always thought it would be easy to cut like butter, but definitely takes a lot of strength and skill. There were other tasty tuna dishes like the miso soup, salad and crispy tuna steak. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see Chef Yamasaki cut the fish in the front row seats. It was cool to taste the varying levels of fatness of the fish. The super chutoro was practically butter. They also offered tuna to go at $50/lb. Definitely worth it. The venue is their regular restaurant but with more tables in the middle. A little loud but definitely a fun time. There were 3 birthdays too! We had ice cream mochi for dessert and there were strawberry cakes for the birthday girls. We averaged about $170 after tip and it was worth every penny.

Along with that, our table also ordered: the quail with sticky rice ($20.99), salted fish and shrimp fried rice ($24.99), shaken beef with garlic noodles ($22.99), bok choy with sautéed garlic ($12.99), a hot tea ($4.00), Coca-Cola ($5.50), a mojito ($15.00), and a margarita ($15.00). With tax ($17.71), our ticket was $209.16 before gratuity. The NOLA Grilled Oysters come sizzling on a hot griddle, with four different fillings, four pieces each, for a total of 16 oysters. The price might seem a bit indulgent, but not if you consider the effort and ingredients that go into this presentation. Each type was flavorful, and there wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy. The salted fish fried rice was an interesting experience. I enjoyed the dish, though the salted fish was less salty than I expected. Someone in our group, who usually doesn't like salted fish fried rice because they find it too salty, actually liked this version for its milder flavor. The plate also includes four large shrimp. The shaken beef was tasty and tender; the garlic noodles were al dente and had just enough garlic--not excessive. The sautéed garlic added a smoky, nutty taste to the bok choy. The quail was marinated well and tasted good--but I wonder if it was fried just a bit too long. After this meal, I chatted with a friend who lives in the community. He'd been to this spot before but dismissed it as just another seafood boil joint. After our conversation, though, he said he'd be willing to give it another shot. I guess your impression of this restaurant depends, at least in part, on what you order. The service, by the way, was excellent. The dining environment was clean and comfortable, with plenty of television screens so people could keep up with World Cup matches.

Have been to this restaurant many times, and food is always consistent! Came visit to the restaurant last week, and ordered my favorite Grilled Escargot with Garlic Butter and Peppercorn, Grilled Scallops with Cheese, and my all-time favorite Chilean Sea Bass hot pot! The grilled escargots are a must-have when visiting this place! These are perfectly grilled with rich garlic butter for sweetness, and with a slight kick of spiciness from the peppercorn. Don't forget to also dip the escargot meat with black pepper and a few squeeze of fresh lime juice! If you like melted cheese, then the grilled scallops with cheese would be the perfect match. Each scallop is covered melted cheese and comes sizzling on a hot plate when ordered! Last but certainly not least, my favorite dish of this restaurant is the Chilean Sea Bass hot pot. The order comes with your own tabletop gas stove, along with a hot pot filled with a tom yum like sour soup base. For ingredients, it also includes a plate with slices of pineapple, quarter cut fresh tomato slices, fresh bean sprouts, rice noodles, and a full plate of large pieces of Chilean Sea Bass. Just put all the ingredients in the hot pot and let it cook for 5-10mins on high, I promise you it is one of the best soups you will ever have! Service is good as always. This place always seems to be busy, so you may have to be on the waitlist during certain business hours (eg holidays, prime dinner time, etc). Parking wise, the restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and so you may have to drive around a few times before finding an open spot. However as I said earlier, it's worth the wait.
