If only you had more space between aisles, were a little bigger and had more people on the cashiers desk I would truly love this store. I like this location better then the new Poway location. I used to like the old poway location better then this one. It's a craft store with lots of crafty stuff. Usually they have what you need at this store. Plenty of parking go during the week because the weekends it's very busy. read more

Most of the time I go to Michael's I don't end up buying anything. This past trip was one of those. They have a lot of bead things and scrapbook stuff, but not a lot of help. When I do ask a question the answers aren't always right when I get home. It is just a hit and miss store. Some of the prices are very good., but I wish some things like the silk flowers were a little more dramatic. read more

Pricey. I can never buy floral arrangements here. How can a fake flower cost more than a real one? They're very well stocked on scrapbook items. I don't scrapbook but it doesn't mean I can't drool over the Martha Stewart paper punch-outs. I wouldn't recommend this place for getting your art supplies for a painting class. Drawing, yes. Painting, no. They just never seem to have enough stretcher bars, canvas, or good paint brushes in stock. Go to Blick's or Artisan and Craftmans in Downtown. If those places are out of stretcher bars, call and ask each Michael's location. It's gonna be a chase. They have fondant and out of the ordinary cake pans. For instance, if I wanted a cake pan of Elmo's face, this is where I go get it. Wood crafts galore. I picked up a Temple of Heaven puzzle piece set for my sister here. Probably the worst customer service ever. A girl named Alexis was at the register. So rude and unfriendly. You would think if a customer says hi that you would respond. No smile not even a word. Obviously clueless about customer service. I have to force myself to come to this location because it's close to my house but it's really not pleasant at all. read more

Who knew this place held birthday parties. Just had my both my daughter's bday parties here. Small group of 16 kids. The two associates that assisted were great with the kids. Great face painting too. Low cost and fun for all. read more

This is a cool store. Pricey yes so I will generally only come here for very specific items, WITH a coupon only. Here is my rating breakdown: +1 star: for being the ONLY arts and crafts store in my area. Every time I come here, it is inspiring to walk around and see all the different supplies. That offer different craft classes here, which is great and convenient for anyone eager to learn something new. +1 star: let me use my 40% off coupon everytime I come here. +1 star: the people who work here are always friendly. +1 star: I have never ever been into a Michael's that was dirty or disorganized. -1 star: unless you have a coupon, items here tend to be overpriced. A lot nicer and newer compared to the Poway location. But, also way busier, less employees to help you, and a tighter parking lot area. Prices are always high, try to use a coupon. They have everything you're looking for in arts and crafts, and unique items for a party or wedding. read more

I go here because I need things that only they carry, but it is a tough place to go with a toddler. The store is PACKED and it is hard to get around with a shopping cart or even on foot sometimes. But since they have a great selection I will keep going back to browse around and grab the same few items that I always buy. There is always a good coupon on the cell phone app that is quick and easy to pull up, and I have always had friendly cashiers when I have gone. read more

Came here after going to Mission Valley Michaels, and this store has everything I need! This store is much larger, organized and had better selections on whatever you need. I will be coming to this Michaels from now on, it's worth the drive!!! I do not understand some of these horrible reviews.. I had the best customer experience here yet that I can think of! Elizabeth was the most helpful and attentive person I think I could have asked for help. She genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. I came in looking for a air hose for a Mystic machine that Home Depot said they would have. I told her I worked next door and needed my machine up and running ASAP! The hoses they had unfortunately we're not the right size, however, she took the time to look up other products she personally had used to recommend something for me as an "easy temporary fix" while I waited for my part to show up that I ordered. I complimented her during her attempt to help me find what I needed and she said "yeah when I have a job I actually put everything into it, it's not just for a paycheck, I actually care" I was very impressed. About an hour later she showed up at my work next door and said "I think we might have something that could work for you! I've been thinking about it and I think we have something to do the trick!" She wrote down which isle, which part of the store and the name of what she thought I should check out. Whether they end up having the part of not.. My experience was worth the review and Elizabeth definitely deserves some recognition. She was awesome! read more

I highly recommend that you download the Michaels app to your phone before you shop at Michaels to get instant access to savings. I needed to wrap a couple of presents for a client that had two events to attend, a child's birthday and a wedding. I've always had good luck finding the right ribbon at Michael's, so I popped in for ribbon, a box, and wrapping paper. Their wrapping paper selection is a joke...I don't know why they even bother carrying any at all. They only had two solid colors: silver and white. I only found one pattern I liked out of the four they had, which were very unattractive. I did find a cute, white box that was on clearance, so that was lucky. They do have plenty of ribbon options...but the majority was sold out. Every time I visit this store the line is about a 15 minute wait because they hardly have any cashiers. The staff has always been friendly and helpful to me though. I wouldn't recommend visiting this Michael's in particular if you are in a hurry or looking for wrapping paper. read more

It was probably my third or second time coming to this location and it is just so unbelievably busy all the time. They always have long lines at the cash register to check out. I came here to buy some painting supplies (paint brushes, paint pallet, pack of acrylic paints, drawing pad, pastels) and they were all a really great deal. Apparently they were a door buster deal and they were all $5 each! So I bought pretty much everything I needed for art supplies for $20. Granted I probably didn't need the pastels but I wanted the pastels as a "art on the go" idea. So I didn't have to bring my paints and paint brushes everywhere. It's really organized in this store and it's very easy to find items that you need by section. Although I wish that the aisles were a little bit wider because it's hard to get around the aisles pushing a cart. But other than that when I checked out there was a lady working who was in the line checking out items with a scanner gun and made the line go by quicker for easy checkout. Every time I walk in to michaels and I ask where something is no one knows. The employees are rude and no help at all. It's not rocket science to know what isle paint brushes are on. If you live in the San Diego area it's worth the drive to go to a different michaels bc this one sucks. read more

Had a horrible experience this evening with a cashier who did not understand her own store's coupon policy. I will never return to this location unless I absolutely have to because of it. Company policy is to accept "One coupon per customer per day." You can use the same digital or print coupon all week long without any problems, but this woman was just incompetent. She actually said because I was using a digital coupon that my mom couldn't purchase an item using the same digital coupon even if it was on separate transactions due to the barcode, which is incorrect information. I use the same coupons with the same barcodes at different Michael's locations regularly and have NEVER had a problem before. I've never had issues with this transaction model before, either because generally people understand their own company policies and aren't total ***holes to their customers, either. Like I said, I won't be back unless I absolutely have to. This place is horrible and I can get yarn for cheaper at other stores. read more

The employees seemed pleasant but did not look happy to be working at Michaels. They seemed to be a little confused which made me confused and I do t work there. I went there to replaced my daughter's rainbow loop storage box because it didn't hold her loom. I asked one of the employee's if they carried other storage boxes and he recommended that I keep the one I purchased. He instructed me to cut the plastic on our storage box. So I did not do that and I went looking for another box that could fit my daughter's loom. Low and behold, my daughter found one that fit her loom. The point is, if you have any questions for the employees.....don't ask or ask at your own risk. read more

i love getting all things arts and crafts here. They have incredible sale items and dollar items. Compared to other crafts stores, Michael is the most affordable. unfortunately they do not sale fabrics. there are tons of room decor items that are really cheap. if you download the app or sign up for the email newsletters, they will often email you coupons and sale events! read more

I had great customer service from Kenichi at this Michaels location. I was returning a basket that I purchased at another Michaels and didn't think I would have any issues. It was a blue tag item, but I made sure to read the return policy prior to purchasing to make sure that I could return it. The return policy in store does not state anything about not being able to return clearance items. Kenichi asked a manager if these items could be returned (via a headset) and the response was "no". He apologized and said I couldn't return the basket, but when I mentioned that the return policy didn't state clearance items couldn't be returned, he asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said, yes and waited for the manager. It took a bit of time and while I was waiting, Kenichi went to another register and reviewed the return policy and was speaking to the manager via headset. After a few minutes, he came back and accepted my return. I really appreciated the fact that he took it upon himself to read the policy and not just pass me off to the manager (which btw, I never saw). At the end of my transaction, I still received a 40% off coupon and a survey coupon even though I didn't purchase anything. Kenichi was very professional and kind. I thanked him and praised him for his customer service. If you need help at this Michaels, look for him! read more

They need more floor staff and cashiers. This place is always very slow to get and services and cashier line is long and slow.

It's a good place to go when you need some arts-n-crafts sort of things. It seems like it's always a madhouse though (or maybe I just pick the busiest hours to go or something). Sometimes it's tough to get a staff person to help you because they always seem so busy. I have been super happy with the framing that I've gotten done there at this location. Like the old saying goes- I would give it no stars if I could. I wanted to return an item that was $6. I didn't have my receipt so they would only offer me $1.50 even though they still had plenty in stock on shelves, and they could easily see what it cost. This Michaels is like all the others... Cluttered and never have the items I'm looking for when I need them. During the holidays it is a mad house, and you can pretty much guarantee that they won't have the items you want. So get you X-mas stuff early, like in the beginning of Nov when they start putting it out. Oh btw, there is NEVER anyone to help when you need it. I hate that most of all. I do like that they will now take coupons on your phone, so all you need to do is find one and they'll scan it. Pretty easy to do; just search for Michaels printable coupons (put current month and year) in your web browser. read more

This has been my local arts & crafts store since my teen years. They have a huge stock of everything that you would need. The lines are often long though but the staff handles the crowd quickly.
