I don't have a crafting addiction or an uncontrollable desire to buy artificial flowers, so Michaels isn't a usual visit. SIDE NOTE: After reading other reviews, I found myself laughing (Julie A.), irritated by injustice (Lixa M.), and nodding by head with agreement (Suzi H.) probably all at the same time. Please do read them because you'll understand what I mean and they provide good information on Michael's. Okay, I used to paint, so I came here mostly because it's the nearest store that sells my needed acrylic paints and other various materials. And I admit, I sometimes feel just a little bit giddy looking at the decorated candle holders, fake rose petals, detailed ribbons, and other stuff that I'd like but don't have any use for. The staff is lacking in numbers, but so far I've had no problems with their behavior towards me. Most of them will make friendly chitchat and gladly give you coupons for your next visit. I just wish they'd organize their art supplies section more often. I do like the space between the aisles because it is much appreciated when I don't feel cramped with someone else looking at canvases. read more

I've been coming to this location since my early times in high school when I would make candy leis every year for Christmas. It was always decently staffed, clean, and fairly stocked. When college started, I hung out here quite a bit because a friend worked here and her coworkers were pretty chill. These days, there is a lot left to be desired. They are always understaffed. It's not too bad when it's slow, but being that they've been around for years and always have coupons, scheduling should be done accurately for the customer experience to run smoothly, especially during the holidays when they know that a lot of people will come. Even when I'm not in a rush, I don't particularly like wasting my time in a long line because nobody wants to help the lone cashier. This place always seems disorganized, and if they run out or are out of stock on something, don't expect it to come soon. I dug through the bottom trays in the baking section once and still couldn't find what I was looking for. I don't know if they bother to check things that can expire either - I was curiously looking at the Duff line of cake mixes once to notice that one of them expired 2 months prior. Granted, maybe it's just not a popular item, but whoever is in charge of stocking that area should keep in mind to look at things like that sometimes. read more

Michaels has a nice parking lot and is located on the corner of Blossom Hill Rd and Snell Ave in a small strip mall. If you have kids in school or are doing some craft project, you will likely need some supplies from this store. The staff are the friendliest in any store I have visited. If you really need an item and you can't find it, they won't just point out the aisle, they will walk you over to the product. Plus you can find 40% off one item coupons on your smartphone from http://weeklyad.michaels.com/ What can be better than a great deal, friendly staff and great products. 5 stars In the past I have had a custom frame put on a wedding picture, received 50% off and picture looks great. I should work here I am here so much. They almost always have what I am looking for and I never get out of the store for less than $100. They have lots of coupons on line though and that alone would keep me coming back. The lines are long, just like EVERY Michaels, but they work them fast and they often call for backup cashiers. This store is disgusting, it smelled like something had died and rotted in there. When I asked an employee what the smell was they confirmed my suspicions, a RAT had died and had been rotting in the trap for weeks! This a total health hazard for anyone coming in. I feel really bad for the employees since they have to breathe that air in. The supervisors and managers did nothing after I brought up my concern to them. Let me start my review by saying how mulove the Michaels stores. They are my go-to shop for anything craft or Holiday decor related. However, this location is just awful. I've ordered online for pick up in store twice now, and both instances ended up with them not actually having my items ready in store and told me to come back at a later date. My most recent experience was the most frustrating. I called to follow up on my pick up order and the male manager complained to me that he "went out of his way" to drive to another Michael's store to pick up the items for me and have them ready at this location. He said "I could have just cancelled your order". Awful customer service. And their inventory system is clearly not accurate. I definitely do not recommend ordering online for pick up at this location. I can't speak for other locations. read more

I love michaels but this location has such poor customer service I just can't! I was going to place an order online using two coupons and pick up in store but I realized that I had a better coupon that could only be used in stores so I headed over to this location. I was checking out and the young girl named Hannah said that she couldn't take both my coupons but I showed to her that the discount was working online and I showed her my cart with the items discounted but I wanted to use the better coupon since it was IN STORE ONLY. And I would have appreciate it if she at least tried to figure out the problem instead of the "I can't do anything, using two coupons just doesn't work," and just stands there. I placed an order online for store pickup .ive changed my mind after ordering it and didn't pick up my order and past the date of pickup .i got an email it was picked up at the store. i called the store to let them know i didn't pick my order up or it wasn't me . They said oh yeah it's still here and to go back due to me not picking it up. So why did you send an email saying thank you for picking up your online order?!? I had to call the customer service line to get a refund and of course it took longer than normal due to covid . The customer service on the phone was helpful and refunded me but still I don't trust this store as they indicate I picked up my order when I was never there . Be aware if you place and order and don't pick up.you will be charged for it read more

Michael's purchased Aaron Brothers, an art framing store, and shut them down. They are now doing a HORRIBLE job of replacing what Arron Bros. did. Their in-store selection of picture matting materials is sparse in quantity and selection. I was told I could order materials on-line. They just don't get it! You can't choose the "perfect" color of mat board to match your picture on a computer screen. I highly recommend you visit your local art supply store (and pay more) rather that shop at Michael's! read more

This store has a good selection of almost everything and the employees are always nice when I'm here but the store is untidy in my opinion and it's not always consistent. Staff was very rude. I had a coupon for 50% off but the lady at the register said it didn't work on sale items. I said it's not on sale, but she replied rudely "yeah it is". She didn't bother trying to scan the coupon. My item was NOT on sale and it seemed as if she was trying to get through the rush so she can go home. My boyfriend bought the same item and used the same coupon and it worked for him. So stupid. read more

There's a good and a bad to this review, unfortunately. The plus: This Michael's location has a large selection of frames. It's about 5 full rows and a whole back wall. The quality is okay if you don't pay full price (slight indentations or missed pigmentation). The frames are well labeled and organized. I was really indecisive with choosing the styles and was able to get a 2nd opinion many times from Richard in the framing department. I was trying to get my frames to match my office and be versatile enough for home if I ever wanted to take them home. He gave lots of feedback and suggestions. Richard was also creative with finding a solution to fit 4 unconventionally sized art prints. So rather than making a custom frame I was able to get an alternative size frame that helped balance the art and the space in between. Eventually my 5th piece had to be custom framed and again Richard helped with the matting selection. The matting was a 2 day turnaround time. The not so good: The custom framing dept completely missed my request to align the background and the cellophane in a particular way, even though Richard said he'd indicated it on the work order. As result the cellophane was sliced. When something is cut then it becomes irreversible and further devalues the piece. I didn't expect this art to appreciate over time, but it still hurts seeing it the way it is. Nothing to do about it now! So consider carefully if you bring in an heirloom or a piece with significant value. read more

Worst customer service by far. In the 15+ years that I have going to michaels Never have I been told I could not use the same coupon on two separate transactions. Today the cashier at Michaels on snell named Jasmine provides the worst customer service in my life!! I went in to buy crafts for Christmas and I was told by her that I was only allowed to use it once per customer per transaction, which was ok as I understand that michaels perhaps changed their policy since I was a michaels employee, so I asked her since when has this policy changed to that...the cashier than began to give me attitude saying since "we've had it". She then rang me up and threw my receipt on the counter. My sister attempted to use the coupon and she was hesitant to allow for my sister to use it. When I asked her for her name she said "why" and refused to give her name to me. I then proceeded to ask for her manager however she did not call her manager, she instead began to tell the manager that I was upset with the fact that I was not able to use the coupon, which was not the case. I was upset at the customer service being provided and the fact that she threw the receipts. Very unsatisfied with michaels on snell. read more

This has to be one of the worst Michaels locations that I have ever been to!!! And I've been to quite a few. First off,,, the store is a mess!!!! Nothing is ever in order or where it should be. Good luck finding what you need or finding anyone in the store who actually gives a damn!! I went in there looking for a few items for my arts and crafts club and could find nothing. When I went to seek help none of the employees were willing to help me, except for a young Hispanic girl who only vaguely pointed in the direction of where the items "might" be located. At this point I am disgusted with the level of customer service at this store. So I go to the front to seek out a manager. Well heck, after waiting in line for about 10 minutes (there was only one cashier) It was my turn so I politely ask to speak to the manager. A call was made apparently to someone at the office, so again I wait. After about 10 minutes a small Asian women exits the office, but instead of dealing with me she makes her way to the back. So I follow her and apparently their was some pressing need of her assistance at the framing department, so she was on a call. Well that about did it. If this individual (asian girl) was indeed the store manager, I can clearly see why the store is such a chaotic mess.Mismanagement , only one employee up front and a few on the floor who are unpolite let alone unhelpful. I guess the employees are only following their store managers lead. This wasn't the first time that I have had a bad experience at the store but it is definitely my last as I am taking my business elsewhere and contacting a regional manager. read more

Do not pay with a credit card at Michaels. They had a breach similar to Target last Xmas. My girlfriend just bought $9 in fancy stickers tonight and go a $100 charge from Sunglass Hut by the time we got home. To bad cause they're a good store with unacceptable ongoing security breaches. read more

Michael's is a shit-hole. No... Seriously. I do not mean in the form of their service or the quality of the things they sell. The shelves are always pretty much organized and the workers have always been nice. Although I think they should pay attention to their bathroom cleanliness! I waltzed into Michael's one afternoon, in one of my moods to buy more crafty junk, but I had to use the facilities. I headed over to the bathroom and I see a child bolt from the doors.... Was it a boy? A girl? Who knows... who cares LOL. So I walk into the restroom, ugh and it is in DIRE need of a visit from Martha Stewart. I am already feeling cautious because who knows what types of organisms live in this disgusting filth bag bathroom... so I walk over to the first stall (there were only two) and I slowly push the door open. *GASP!* To my disgust, there were toilet seat covers all over the floor and there... was... omg... *holding back my vomit*... POOP! POOP WAS ALL OVER THE FLOOR! A BIG PILE OF IT! EWW! What the hell??!?!!?!? So I back away from the stall... but I still had to pee. So I slowly push open the door of the next stall... (the handicapped stall). PHEW!!!!!!! It was clean! So I hold my breath and go in and as I'm sitting on the pot, I hear the bathroom door open.. I cringe in my seat as this woman rushes into the stall next to mine (the poopy stall)... She Runs into the stall, turns around to close the door... then turns BACK around and looks down and realizes that she just did a 360 in a big pile of poop!!!!!! To which she reacts by saying EWWWWWWWWWW GROSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and runs out of the bathroom. And as soon as she runs out I burst into laughter because the whole time she was in there, I was actually trying not to make a peep since I thought it was much funnier to watch her dance around in the pile of poop! HAHAHAHAHA But seriously folks at Michaels... keep your bathrooms clean! I am giving you guys 5 stars though... but purely for the entertainment factor. ***Update*** 10/08/08 The bathrooms now require a key code to get in. I have been going to Michaels a lot lately and the worst Michaels is the one on Snell Ave in San Jose, Ca. The people who work there are rude the manager is rude if not worst. They don't help their customers and the manager she was so in a hurry to not offer a discount No Wifi so my phone was taking to long to show her my discount coupon that I get, they didn't help me at all. I ended putting things back even though 40% off is all over Valentine stuff. Anyway that's the last time I will shop there!! The workers & that woman Mgr needs some people skills or take note of how well people are treated at the McCarthy Michaels store in Milpitas they smile they are nice to their customers!! 1. I don't like how they greet you when you come in. Don't get me wrong. I think that customers should be greeted. However, it is the job of the customer service checker closest to the door, so they are yelling it at you when you walk in. When I am checking out in this line, I hate how the checker has to yell out the greeting any time someone comes in while they are helping me. Rude. 2. They never have what I want. I will go in for a specific item and it will be out of stock. I have the worst luck there. Whenever I ask when an item will be in, nobody can give me an answer. 3. Messy. Shelves are out of order. Things are not where they are supposed to be. (Okay, granted this is probably also in part due to the fact that people seem to let there kids run around the place like they own it). 4. Longest lines ever! They go sooo slow when checking people out. Once I was in line and there were four checkers open. There were 6 people in line ahead of me. I was in line for 36 minutes! Seriously. 5. It is hard to find someone to help you. I am there a lot, so I pretty much know where everything is. There have been more times that I can count that I've seen someone with that lost look and asked them if I could help them. "Do you work here?" "No, but I bet I know where whatever you are looking for is" :-) However, I will say, when you do find someone to help you, they are usually very friendly. The store is conveniently located. The parking lot is large and you can always find a spot to park. It is crazy though, however Michael's doesn't get knocked down for that. People just drive like idiots sometimes. The store is one of the larger ones, so it does carry items that I don't find at other locations - when it is in stock. read more

Super annoyed with the Hispanic woman here. It is 9:02pm as I write this and was "kicked out" 3 times already. Like, I GET you close at 9pm. I heard you 2 minutes before you closed. I stopped at an end cap and for that I was told "sorry we are closed". Manager... get on this issue. I'm a paying customer and the reason these people get paid is for people that come in here and make purchases. Not cool at all that I was treated like I was just starting my shopping trip. Needless to say, I was out before 9:08 pm due to a line. Even if I wasn't harassed by your employee I planned on leaving as soon as it hit 9pm. Super disappointed with your staff. read more

I live near here and have been in the store many times. I have never been very impressed with the customer service or the overall arrangement of the store. No one ever seems to know where anything is or be able to answer your questions. There is a lot of "um, let me call so and so to help you with that." And then "so and so" never appears. (This has happened on at least 5 separate occasions.) However, until today I was never really moved to complain about it. Today, I went in around noon to see about getting a custom frame for something. I waited for several minutes at the framing counter after pushing the service button before someone decided come over and tell me that "um, she'll be here in like five or ten minutes.." (Ok? Is it five or ten?) After five minutes I gave up and started browsing the frames. I decided to just buy one off the shelf since it didn't seem like the framing person would be around any time soon. When I told them at the register that I had been waiting for the custom framing person they responded "oh well she just got here." (So she wasn't even in the store when you had me waiting???) There was no apology and no offer to make it right. I bought the standard frame, but it wound up being poorly made and I had to return it that same day (like within 10 minutes of purchasing it).When I returned it the same people were there and had the same indifferent attitude. The whole thing could have been turned around had the cashier said "I'm sorry this didn't work for you, our custom frame person is in now and would be happy to help you." I award them one star for not giving me any lip about returning the frame. read more

This location is FAR SUPERIOR to the one on Kooser Rd in customer service, organization, and quantity in stock. The woman helping me at the counter was so accommodating and friendly. What a difference from the rushed, aggravated, irritable manager I dealt with at the other one. Actually, all their employees are friendly so I will continue to use this Michael's. read more

I love love love this Michael's! Do not be fooled by the outside appearance and the parking lot. It may have a little shadiness and ghetto vibe due to the dollar store and the other run down stores but when you walk into this Michael's. It is literally like walking into another world. This place is HUGE, clean, fully stocked, and well organized. Its my favorite Micheal's to go as well as the one on Coleman. read more

I see all the bad reviews but I had a really good experience every time I come here. Of course they have a great selection. But the customer service is great. Today I had to get some framework done. I think the guys name was Richard.... Anyway he was so so so patient with me. I had all kind of indecisiveness going on and he was seriously so chill about it and making sure I got exactly what I wanted. Due the the time I needed my work done, I ended not doing the custom framework but still got matting done and was able to take home everything today! They do a lot here so if you need customs framework I really recommend this Michaels. read more

Michaels was seriously my go to store for years. Countless amounts of money has been spent here, however all comes to a stop today! Two reasons 1. Michaels now charges $.25 cents to use a cart ...what if you don't have change?! Embarrassing and inconvenient 2. The store female manager is unprofessional and not deserving of her title. Had to state she didn't care about my opinion. Thankful there is online craft stores and Amazon that carriers the exact same products so I no longer need to invest on the store site. Great place for arts and crafts supplies. It's a lot of fun to shop here for scrap booking, making cute t-shirts for friends, and baking supplies. This place also has classes to teach how to make cakes and how to use fondant that I have yet to try. The service here isn't the best but it works. If the staff was more helpful then I would of given this place a five star rating because I like this store but since the staff is not I lowered the star rating to a four. read more

Wow. In order to get a shopping cart you have to put a quarter into them. Who carries quarters. I'll tell you what I was carrying. My 7 month old son and that meant I had to carry him during the whole time we were shopping. Oh. And the bathrooms also have a code which they won't tell you. I enjoy coming to this Michaels location over any other because they have The Best Customer Service. They are always so helpful and I never have to search for an employee to help me find an item. I have shopped at the stores on Koozer and in Westgate on Saratoga but their customer service is lacking in comparison. Tatiana is especially helpful. read more

I went into Michaels store with my daughter to purchase a few items .when I went to the front to pay I gave the cashier a $20 bill that she took and tried to put into their new machine that checks for fake money. the bill is older so it would not feed into the machine .she asked me for a second bill, which I gave to her, but it would not feed into the machine either. i asked her if she has one of those pens that could check it .she looks at me and says 'no we have the machine.' then she turns to the clerk next to her and asks the clerk if she would check it and the clerk says no that if it doesn't work in the machine they cant take it. so here I am trying to make a purchase and because 2 real 20 dollar bills would not feed into their machine, they didn't wanna sell me the items! luckily my daughter was able to get a 20 out of her purse that worked.. that's absolutely ridiculous. just because it won't feed into the machine you're gonna reject it? how about just checking for the stripe inside the bill. I was made to feel really awful because clerks don't have proper training about how to handle situations where their machine will not take a bill because it won't feed into it. RETRAIN those cashiers. read more
