I would normally come in here at least once-twice a week for my cake supplies & school supplies. I LOVE the weekly coupons & special but in recent weeks Ive become more & more disillusioned. The staff isn't very helpful & quite honest a LOT rude! The shelves are an absolute mess, nothing is ever stocked. Was there a change in Management? This is not the Michael's I used to love. I have now driven the extra mileage & now shop at the Encino location. Step it up West Hills stores, you're gonna lose customers. read more

As long as michaels has been at the fallbrook mall I've been a loyal customer but I have to say the last 5 to 10 times I've been there the customer service is so bad and that's if you can find someone to help you that I'm so glad Joann's craft store is going in hopefully some nice, friendly people will apply. read more

I went into the Michael's store in Fallbrook Square in West Hills on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. I was looking for decals but the young lady at the register (there were no employees to be found other then at the registers, even the frame department was empty except for one poor lady ( customer) that tried to help me). The young lady that I had asked about the decals suggested I ask the manager (at another register). There was (which is the usual case in there) a fairly long line but I had to say "excuse me" and ask my question. The lack of assistance is really quite appalling. I really have a love hate relationship with almost all Michael's but mostly this one in particular being that it is the location i frequent most. They always have some great deals on art supplies and a lot of odds and end you might need for most projects. I mostly buy a canvas or two when they have them on sale. but my biggest problem is the checkout service. It always amazes me how they can have 8 or so registers with only one open and a line out the door. This has been going on forever so I highly doubt this review will change that. read more

They had 5 frames on clearance because they all had scratches on them. I bring two of them to the register and they both ring up at full price. They only honored one of them but claimed the other was just misplaced. As far as concerned, and with my experience in customer service, if your store has items misplaced you honor it. The woman at the register was so defensive over it like she owned them. I won't be back. read more

I come here whenever I need things for my children's school projects. I never have any issues and the staff has always been helpful and pleasant. The only issue I had was with the restroom. My daughter REALLY REALLY needed to use their facilities. I ran with her to the back of the store where you are required to buzz for an employee to go put in the code to get inside. Luckily, the lady showed up within seconds. We ran into one of the two stalls and there was no toilet seat tissue and no toilet paper! I run out to buzz for someone and no one showed up this time. I went back in thinking I would just get paper towels for her. It would have worked had there been any. I run out and buzz again... NO ONE arrives! By now my daughter is hollering, "I can't hold it I can't hold it. Im going to pee my pants ma!" I ran into the stall with her not having a clue what I would wipe her with, but I thought I could hold her above the toilet so she can pee. Just as I was about to pick her up, the lady in the second stall finally got out. PHEW!... Now to wash our hands.... Or so we thought. Zero soap. I guess water would need to suffice. They hadn't cleaned nor checked if any supplies were needed since 12pm. I was there at 7:30pm. They missed the 3pm light cleaning and the 7pm deap cleaning. The bathroom itself needs some tlc. I love going to Michael's for my craft supplies. This Michael's is a pretty decent size one, but always has a long line, and not enough cashiers to check out. Their food craft section seems to be shrinking more and more compared to the other Michael's. I do love that they have great coupons going on most of the time. I don't like the the fact that the coupons cannot be used on books like Joanne's coupons. Overall it's still a great store to have close for all those little nick knacks. read more

If I could give Negative 5 STARS I would 110%!!! I had placed an order online at 12 pm and had called before I left to go get it at 4 pm. The Employee that I had spoken to said that it was ready and I had to pick it up before 6 (which was when they closed). Got There and had to call at least 50 Times for someone to pick up the phone. I had already seen an employee yell at a customer and being very disrespectful towards her since she was waiting for over an hour and all she asked was how much longer, mind you the employee stated there were low staffed. Finally got a hold of someone and they told me that my order wouldn't be ready today..... I told her I spoke to someone earlier and she said it would be ready Saturday or Sunday!!!! I chose SAME DAY PICK UP for a reason!! Very unorganized and very disrespectful employees there! Will never be going to West Hills Michaels again! Will be writing a letter to corporate as well! read more

Love Michaels! I drop in once a day if I can and always find some kind of project of interest. The line can get long, but seems to move at a satisfactory rate. I like that I can walk over to other shops such as Home Depot, Trader Joes, Ross, Walmart, etc to pick up additional needed items. Less driving around and a little more exercise is always a good thing especially here in the San Fernando Valley. read more

Very unhelpful staff members, called to check if an item was in stock, was on hold for about 15 minutes, someone finally picked up the phone to say let me check on an item for you, never came back after 30 minutes of waiting. Decided to go to the store and experienced unhelpful employees who did not want to even attempt to help. Employees were very dismissive and seemed to dislike dealing with customers. read more

I love shopping at this Michael's location! The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The store is well lit, clean and well stocked. If you can't find what you're looking for, the friendly staff will take you to the isle where the item in question can be found, saving you valuable time. Michael's offers 40% discount coupons in the Sunday Los Angeles Times - I think every other week. The secret is that they also accept JoAnn's coupons as well. This is a complaint against Maria (cropped blonde hair) who was so unhelpful on my store visit. She was so rude and disrespectful on my request to be helped with Christmas ornaments. From the beginning, she was so dismissive and so I returned the same favor. This employee is so rude and unprofessional and I could not understand why such a company would hire a lazy individual. I came in looking for Christmas ornament the retail store carried a diamond floral shaped glass Christmas ornament featuring a Madonna / Jesus in the center and instead of looking through the boxes (which itself was a MESS) -- she answered "No we don't have it! OK? OK?" in her foreign accent Without even touching a single box to look into even for a minimal effort. For holiday purchases, this kind of service is so uncharitable and so unAmerican. I intend of forwarding this complaint to the corporate store. I received NO help at all on my store visit, and certainly did NOT buy anything as a result. Not only did I feel unserviceable, I also felt insulted. Disgusted. read more

Okay. I made a yelp account SPECIFICALLY to warn people about how terrible this place is. Sure, it has a great selection (provided you already know where you're going), but it's impossible to find someone to help you. I'm not talking "walk me through this project" help. I mean "where's the glitter glue" help. Still, I drudge through this place because my brother and I love shrinky dinks, and this place sells the paper. If you're any sort of actual artist looking for supplies, this is not the place to go. Every single time I'm looking for a specific type of medium for acrylics, this place infallibly has one left in stock and someone's kid has drawn all over it. When I finally manage to distract an associate from their conversation long enough to help me, I usually find they've never even heard of the medium I'm looking for. Now, okay. I work in retail. I've worked in retail since I was 16. It's a big store, and I can't expect every employee to know every single piece of stock in it. That being said, the employees here simply WILL NOT even try to find the information you need, even if that information is something as small as "might you have some ___________ in stock at this time, good sir?" More than once I've walked up to two employees talking only to have them blatantly ignore me and walk away. DON'T go here. There's a joann's right across victory in the next plaza and an REI on sherman way. Hell, drive out to Agoura Hills if you need to. Just don't go here. read more

I buy a lot of craft supplies here. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. The staff has been very helpful when I ask them questions. Maybe my questions aren't as difficult. I always shop at Michaels for my kids' projects. I love this store. I can say I'm a loyal customer. They always seem to have the things that I need but the staff seems to be unhappy with their job there. They don't usually maintain eye contact. It's like you're checking out with a machine. At least, machines say thank you. Today, I went there to pick up stuff for my daughter's project. When you go inside, there's an area for wreaths and garlands marked $2.00 (doorbusters, they call it). I grabbed one wreath but when I paid for it and looked at my receipt, it costs $6.00. So I asked this guy, Juan, who was there by the front door. I asked him how come I was charged $6.00 instead of $2.00. He answered me while pointing at the garland sign, "Well, that's a wreath, not a garland". I then pointed the wreath sign that says $2.00. The wreaths were mixed, different sizes in one area. I didn't notice that I picked up the 24" and not the 18" that was on sale. So I said to him, "Why do you mix them up in one area?". I picked up the 18" and simply asked him, "So is this the one on sale?". I think he was annoyed by me and answered me sarcastically, "Well, you have to read the tag, Ma'am". Yes, I didn't check the tag and the sign well. I learned my lesson but he doesn't have to answer me that way. And he said he is one of the managers. Horrible to nonexistent customer service! I bought a small can of spray paint yesterday that had no spray nozzle. I tried to exchange it today I stood in a long line to be told when i got to the front that i had to go find the paint in the store again myself and then find someone with a key to open the cabinet. 10-15 minutes later i finally get the new can and am told they will take it up front, but i have to stand in the even longer line AGAIN to make the exchange. Seriously? 12 minutes later i get to the front. Now apparently they can't do an even exchange but have to go through a refund and then i can buy the exact same thing again in another transaction. I didn't bother at that point and just took the refund. The whole thing should have been a simple exchange of a defective product for another of the same thing. I asked for the manager and was pointed to her. She basically just shrugged me off, couldn't have cared less. I guess i am now a loyal Joanne's customer. I have a website about to launch where i reference Michaels and Joann's as sources for supplies. Am so annoyed i will edit a lot of text to remove Michael's. Oh, and if you go to Contact on the Michael's website and click on customer service it goes in a loop you can't get out of so you cant really contact them. They really don't care about customer service! read more
