As great as a dental visit can get. I've been putting off seeing a dentist for far too long due to fear of seeing a dentist. All of the staff were great at making me feel comfortable and less anxiety. Viviann did a great job and very gentle hand with cleaning. Dr. Michelsen, Tatyana and Jessica all had amazing bedside manners and made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I think I will be able to keep up with oral health maintenance here. Space is clean and cozy. Soft background music makes it less scary to be at the dental office. I appreciated all of it being an anxious patient. read more

Dr. Wu and his wife dr. kang are both amazing. that's all you need to know. they are helpful, knowledgeable, skillful and friendly. they both try to explain in full detail what ails you or what your check up means. they are also helpful on insurance questions. very professional. the staff is friendly as well. The only con is that his books and schedules are maxed out like my credit card... =/. he is super busy and it will be hard for you to find a time/day for your next appointment. read more

Dr. Wu is a nice guy, but a horrible dentist. I went to Dr. Wu for years and I always thought he was good, mostly because he was cheap and my teeth are very healthy anyway. He is always very rushed, but I didn't worry about it for exams. Then Dr. Wu did some unnecessary work that ended up costing me thousands of dollars and many days of treatment to fix. I had a minor divot (not a cavity) on a tooth that I had for years, and never had any problem from it. Dr. Wu even said it was extremely tiny and questioned whether I should even do anything for it. He eventually said I should get it filled. The day he did the procedure he was rushed, as always, and he drilled too far, infecting my pulp. Dr. Wu didn't just drill too deep so that the filling was close to the nerves, he drilled straight into the pulp so that blood came out of my tooth. That's extremely careless. Dr. Wu didn't even bother to tell me that my tooth was now infected (anytime the pulp is exposed) and that I would need a root canal. He allowed me to walk out thinking that everything was ok. About 6 months later when my tooth felt like it was going to explode, I ended up needing an emergency root canal. I ended up going to the specialist and dentist a dozen times and spending $8,000 for a tooth that didn't even need any work. read more

There's a reason this dental office is rated five stars! I've been going to Dr. Wu since 1998! That's 19 years as of writing this review. He is so thorough yet gentle at the same time. He is always concerned about the patient and will make you feel as relaxed as is humanly possible at a dental office. I have referred dozens of people to him and they feel the same way! (Even tough, I feel kind of like Dr. Wu is my secret and I don't want to share him with anyone.) No matter how far away from this office I live... I still come here for all my dental work. I love Dr. Wu! Although I now live in South Bay, I still commute down to Irvine for all my dental needs. He doesn't recommend anything unnecessary and try to rip you off. Very frank and honest comments and always emphasizes the importance of preventative measures. I had to get filling here once before and he does a great job. I have been going to the Michelson Dental Office for years, with a brief hiatus in the middle due to a change in my insurance :( And during those few years of going to a different dental office made me appreciate Dr. Wu and Dr. Kang even more! What everyone says is true, they are great! And they never try to upsell you, which is definitely appreciated (my hiatus dentist always tried to get me to get more tests/procedures than I thought was necessary - super annoying!). You will not find a doctor more amazing than Dr. Wu. My entire family (two adults and two kids) has been attending his practice for years now, and we have been nothing but completely satisfied with his dental care. We have had dental doctors in three states in the last twenty years, and he is hands-down an outstanding experience. We've had good doctors before, but never so excellent to be driven to post reviews of them online. Dr. Wu is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and relatable. He will take time to listen to all my concerns, answer every question, and even provide scientific materials to illustrate his answers and make them understandable to my level. (And I'm the kind of person who will do her own research online to make sure I have the right questions, and so I do bring a lot of questions. I was never made to feel like I am an annoyance, as some doctors will do. In fact, Dr. Wu seems to appreciate my interest.) In addition to top-of-the-line care, Dr. Wu stands out to me because of the transparency of his business practice. He has never pushed an expensive or unnecessary treatment, or even encourage it or suggest it, if it is not absolutely needed. I do agree with other reviewers that, if anything, Dr. Wu will be very conservative in his treatment approaches and undercharge for the excellent work that he does. Trustworthy, caring, competent, experienced, and informative--and these are just the first things that come to mind about Dr. Wu. We are so grateful to have him as our dentist, and we have continued to stay with his practice even after he moved to Tustin and this has caused us to drive a longer distance to get there. Dentist was great, staff was super friendly and helpful. Open Saturdays! I was fit in on a Tuesday about a week in advance, but I hear Saturdays book up months in advance. Also, they handle all the insurance stuff and bill you later, which made me very happy. My last 2 dental offices made me pay everything when I was there and carry a balance with them once they received a reimbursement from my insurance. I went to Michelson Dental Clinic for well over ten years, and have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Wu and other staff members. He is knowledgeable and honest, and will never pressure -- nor even make a suggestion -- regarding high-cost treatments that are not needed. Frequent cleanings, minor tweaks to existing work, emphasis on good and consistent oral hygene and night-retainer wear have kept my teeth problem-free. I did not have dental insurance during this period, and yet my costs were minimal. For those who think gentle dentistry and an upbeat manner are what count most, this office also rates high marks in these categories, but with nothing forced or superficial about the interaction. I sent friends and family members to Dr. Wu, and all had similarily terrific comments. I've recently moved to San Francisco where it is very challenging to find a dentist with this combination of principles and credentials. Good dentist team , my children been going to them last 5 years and they are very good with children . They explain to the kids in language easily understand to them . Dr Wu especially is good with the kids , he will never scold them when obviously they did not brush their teeth well enough. The only -1 star for their answering phone . I have never got them on the phone in one try, there's never a person answering the phone, rather they will return your phone call. And when they call, I would miss their phone call so Sometimes it takes 4 to 5 tries of phone tagging before we finally able to talk live to each other or to make appointments . Both doctors here are fantastic & professional, but the only downside is that they're closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays. They're only open 3 days/week. That's the only reason I subtracted 1 star from an otherwise 5-star review--it's way too inconvenient to schedule an appointment to fit my work life.
