My extended family loves to visit this location. Many of the food items are Southern style and taste great, not too seasoned, and the portions are enough for 2 meals. But what I love most is the ambience. It has a warm, neighborhood feel when you visit. The large bar area reminds me of Cheers, a place where everyone knows your name. Ordered delivery and i can't say I would do it again. I had ordered years before and had a good memory of it, so thought I would do it again. I was craving sides, and this place has tons of them. What I found during this experience was it was more quantity over quality. Everything was just kind of mushy and didn't really have a lot of flavor or taste. The best thing out of all of the five sides I ordered was the macaroni and cheese, and I had to add quite a bit of seasoning to make it palatable. The cheesy potatoes threw me, because there was no cheesiness to them. Also, the home fries were the same as the cheesy potatoes, so that meant to big piles of tasteless mush--hot sauce made it better. Also, there had to have been over a cup of onions combined in this box. I nibbled because I was hungry and sadly threw away the rest because I just couldn't eat it. I ordered the crab soup, and that was delicious. I would say though that the small size for the price paid is very questionable. As this was delivery, I can't be on service or ambience. I didn't eat in the restaurant so I can't speak to the customer service but I ordered a medium cream of crab soup & salmon cake bites. I wish I could give them a 3.5 rating because the salmon bites were really good. Perfect ratio of meat to filling. I would have preferred them slightly cooked more to create a crisp but they were still very delicious. The cream of crab soup was decent. I moved away for two years and came back to the area to visit. I went to what was one of my favorite restaurants. I always order the vegetable plate which includes four (4) sides. In the past you received a hearty portion that would last you 2-3 days. Yesterday the portion was minimal at best while pay $16.00. I also noticed there wasn't a lot of food on the line compared to the past. The food options were few. There no one in the restaurant either. Usually, it is always busy. The previous staff were gone, and the new staff weren't friendly. Lastly, I noticed the restaurant was renovated. I guess that are trying to recoup those funds from the renovation. If you order delivery make sure you check your food as soon as it arrives. This was my first time ordering from Midatlantic Seafood through DoorDash, and it left a bad impression. I ordered fried oysters and received fried shrimp instead. I also ordered a fried shrimp meal that was supposed to come with French fries, but the fries were missing. To make matters worse, the fried shrimp had zero seasoning--it was bland and disappointing. On a positive note, the tofu stir fry and fried rice were actually really good. But it's crazy that they didn't include a single plastic utensil or even a napkin in the bag. I've requested a credit with DoorDash, but overall, the experience was frustrating. I regret not coming here sooner! I've driven past this restaurant many times but never thought to stop by, but I'm glad I finally did! There are so many good seafood and non-seafood options to choose from, and many of the meals come as lunch or dinner platters. There's also a small bar in the corner of the restaurant, and they were even selling ready-made packaged alcoholic drinks like Long Island iced tea, margaritas, and other cocktails. The food is already prepared and stationed in front of the restaurant. It's covered and only accessible to the workers behind the stand, so a patron can't access the food themselves like at a buffet. I got the crab-stuffed salmon with two sides: lo mein and seasoned potatoes. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The portion sizes were pretty large, so you'll probably want to share a platter or you will have leftovers. I also tried their homemade cornbread, which was also very good. The staff were friendly, there's ample parking, and the food came out soon enough. It's a popular fish place and locals are loyal to it. I've been a customer at this location since it opened in 2014. The variety of fish and seafood offered is considerable. Management has done a good job in the time of Corona by gently encouraging patrons to respect social distancing and limiting the number of persons in the establishment at one time. I appreciate that. I think of it mostly as a to-go spot, but there's table seating and large bar inside. Televisions seem to be everywhere. Over time, it has added many non-fish dishes. Generally, I have a good experience when I'm here. This spot has had its share of ups and downs however it's got staying power. My favorite continues to be the catfish dinner. The two stars are for the catfish...it was decent. I guess they used all the seasoning that they had on the fish. The sides...all of the sides and the popcorn shrimp were huge disappointments. The collard greens had no flavor, were cut too wide, and were dryer than paper towels. I took one bite and threw the rest in the garbage can. The hush puppies didn't have any flavor either. Could not detect not one speck of seasoning. Not one. I paid extra for cornbread instead of dinner rolls on a carry out order. Of course, I got the exact opposite. My mistake for not checking until it was too late. We had 5 different sides between us. No seasoning. No seasoning. No seasoning!!! The popcorn shrimp was NOT deveined and was also FLAVORLESS. We got no cocktail sauce for the popcorn shrimp, no ketchup for the fries, no hot sauce for the catfish. No napkins!!!! No utensils!! It was a carry out order for goodness sake!!! I usually come and get the salmon cakes, but this time I decided to get a seafood plate. I got the 3 shrimp, 3 oysters, 3 scallops, & 2 crab sticks for $13.99 with two sides which is not bad. I don't think I've ever been to a dish spot with crab sticks that big, so I will definately come back. There is a bar that if you dine in, can get alcohol and good plates for a good price. Another thing I love about Mid Atlantic is the menu variety. It always takes me forever to order because the menu is so overwhelming. You have the main menu on the wall behind the register, then a bunch of little menus throughout the store of different items that are not on the menu on the wall. The small menus throughout the restaurant have some interesting food items on there. Making it so tempting to try!! They also have smoothies, seafood quesadillas. Literally everything you name it!!!
