My extended family loves to visit this location. Many of the food items are Southern style and taste great, not too seasoned, and the portions are enough for 2 meals. But what I love most is the ambience. It has a warm, neighborhood feel when you visit. The large bar area reminds me of Cheers, a place where everyone knows your name. I wish I could give them a 3.5 rating because the salmon bites were really good. Perfect ratio of meat to filling. I would have preferred them slightly cooked more to create a crisp but they were still very delicious. The cream of crab soup was decent. The food was very mediocre compared to other seafood spots, but if you're looking for a quick bite to eat to satiate a seafood craving this may be the place for you. I moved away for two years and came back to the area to visit. I went to what was one of my favorite restaurants. I always order the vegetable plate which includes four (4) sides. In the past you received a hearty portion that would last you 2-3 days. Yesterday the portion was minimal at best while pay $16.00. I also noticed there wasn't a lot of food on the line compared to the past. The food options were few. There no one in the restaurant either. Usually, it is always busy. The previous staff were gone, and the new staff weren't friendly. Lastly, I noticed the restaurant was renovated. I guess that are trying to recoup those funds from the renovation. I had finished running errands by 11AM on a sunday and was looking for a restaurant to eat at in the morning I didn't order anything here, just took a ton of photos for YELP! lol More of a you order and they package in to go trays. If you order delivery make sure you check your food as soon as it arrives. This was my first time ordering from Midatlantic Seafood through DoorDash, and it left a bad impression. I ordered fried oysters and received fried shrimp instead. I also ordered a fried shrimp meal that was supposed to come with French fries, but the fries were missing. To make matters worse, the fried shrimp had zero seasoning--it was bland and disappointing. On a positive note, the tofu stir fry and fried rice were actually really good. But it's crazy that they didn't include a single plastic utensil or even a napkin in the bag. I've requested a credit with DoorDash, but overall, the experience was frustrating. There are so many good seafood and non-seafood options to choose from, and many of the meals come as lunch or dinner platters. There's also a small bar in the corner of the restaurant, and they were even selling ready-made packaged alcoholic drinks like Long Island iced tea, margaritas, and other cocktails. The food is already prepared and stationed in front of the restaurant. It's covered and only accessible to the workers behind the stand, so a patron can't access the food themselves like at a buffet. I got the crab-stuffed salmon with two sides: lo mein and seasoned potatoes. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The portion sizes were pretty large, so you'll probably want to share a platter or you will have leftovers. I also tried their homemade cornbread, which was also very good. The staff were friendly, there's ample parking, and the food came out soon enough. If you've ever driven past the shopping center where this restaurant is located in and you were hesitant on visiting this restaurant, definitely consider going. You won't regret it! read more

It's a popular fish place and locals are loyal to it. I've been a customer at this location since it opened in 2014. The variety of fish and seafood offered is considerable. Management has done a good job in the time of Corona by gently encouraging patrons to respect social distancing and limiting the number of persons in the establishment at one time. I appreciate that. I think of it mostly as a to-go spot, but there's table seating and large bar inside. Televisions seem to be everywhere. Over time, it has added many non-fish dishes. Generally, I have a good experience when I'm here. This spot has had its share of ups and downs however it's got staying power. My favorite continues to be the catfish dinner. The crab cake preparation and shrimp dishes are reliable. Sometimes the fried foods are too oily for me. Always check out the portable blackboards; daily specials are listed on them. read more

My mistake for not checking until it was too late. We had 5 different sides between us. No seasoning. No seasoning. No seasoning!!! The popcorn shrimp was NOT deveined and was also FLAVORLESS. Such a great place for seafood if you ever find yourself near the area... We actually went back for lunch THE NEXT DAY because it was so good!! All the food were really good, fresh and quite cheap!! Below is the breakdown by favorites in my opinion: - Seafood: Fried tilapia and soft-shelled crabs are better than fried catfish. There's definitely more fish taste and texture than the catfish. - Sides: best ones were the teriyaki string beans with mushroom (got this twice in a row ) and the stir-fried tofu. We also ordered the cheesy broccoli, eggplant, french fries. They have a bar of all the sides available so I recommend to check out all the options first! - Others: the shrimp and scallop fried rice was SO GOOD! I only ordered half portion and I was stuffed! Good quality shrimps and scallops and the fried rice was very nice. The carrot cake was so so but for $6 I don't think it was worth it. Overall, strong recommend this place. Stopped in to pick-up some fresh cut fruit and smoothie. Just like the other locations I have frequented, restaurant flow has been modified for COVID. I was able to get in and out pretty quickly. Well one Sunday we were in the mood for crab legs. We went to the New Carrollton location because we were in the area...but it was closed. We had to settle for something else. The very next day, YelpMDburbs posted a video of Mid Atlantic Laurel....it was a sign!!! The next Sunday went ventured out to MD again, however there was a Redskins home game. HTTR! So traffic was awful. We settled on trying Hyattsville instead of Laurel to save time. Now for the review. The line was almost to the door. All the church folks (and others) were in there with their Sunday's best attire waiting for fish and other seafood. We literally stood in line for 25 minutes before placing our order. Then we waited another 45 minutes for our number to be called. It was the longest wait ever. Similar to being at the DMV. We ordered crab legs, fried Whiting, fried shrimp, mac & cheese, collard greens, yams, and the finest bottled water they had. (Deer Park of course) The crab legs were the highlight, the butter must have been margarine or ghee as the flavor and color seemed different from regular butter. The fried Whiting was decent. The collards and mac were also good, the yams were a bowl of sugar. We tossed out the shrimp....they were super breaded and lacked flavor. I would have rated this a 3 star had the wait time been better. Perhaps Sunday is their busy day but maybe they should revamp their system.
